If you had the choice to time travel and spend a decade in either the 80s or the 90s, which would you choose, and why?

For me its a very hard choice.

The 80s. I have a very soft spot for 80s music, especially the darkwave/goth and early industrial music of the 80s. You had bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox, The Cure, Skinny Puppy, early Ministry before and when they went industrial metal, etc. The 80s was the best decade for horror movies. Hair metal was awesome and you had good TV shows.

The 90s. Nine Inch Nails(greatest band ever). Even though Pretty Hate Machine was released in 1989, NIN was really big in the 90s with Broken/Fixed, The Downward Spiral, and The Fragile. Marilyn Manson emerged on the scene thanks to Trent Reznor, who produced Manson's first 3 releases: Portrait of an American Family, Smells Like Children, and the controversial Antichrist Superstar album. Also Manson released Mechanical Animals in 98. Grunge and 90s Alternative was awesome. Nu Metal bands emerged. The 90s had the best TV shows(Beavis and Butthead, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friends, That 70s Show, Charmed, etc.) The Monday Night Wars (WWF vs WCW). And you had a lot of good movies come out in the 90s, such as The Crow, The Craft, etc.

I pick the 90s.

Eh he was better than his sons but that is not saying much. Oh. Wait. You meant bush not Bush. Neeeeeeeevermind.

I would have to pick the 80's. 90's had the MNW which was great but that was just last couple years. Earlier was bad. For me 80's had better music and better toons on Saturday mornings. Also you had the rise of Hulkamania and WM3. Plus I would have more time to gather the money to invest in Microsoft when it goes public. Then cash in that money a decade later and invest in Apple.

To me the 90s doesn't even compare to the 80s, especially music wise, 80s gave us Motley Crue, The best of Dep Leppard, Pantera, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Megadeth, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Guns N Roses, Poison, and the list goes on and on, would have loved to have grown up in the 80s and if I was ever given the chance, I would go back to the 80s easily without any hesitation.

So in this scenario you have created, the 80's and 90's are the times I should seriously consider? And your backing for those times is "the tv program's were good". :D

Dude if this was at all possible, I'd be hitting certain events and I can guarantee none of them would be me sitting on the settee scratching my balls watching TV.

Been there done that.
80s were GOAT 90s were aight but none of you youngins could handle em because guess what,
no smart phones, weak cell phones, weak internet,...nah you couldn't cut it.

I owned this one or something very close.
Snake was the killer app. :lol

You had to actually talk on the phone most of the time and meet face to face.

Live in the now. It's all you can really do in reality.

So basically...

The 80s would be time travelling to a time I wasn't born yet and see a different world.

The 90s would be time travelling to a time amazing things mostly nostalgia based happened.

Yeah, this is actually difficult. (though I lean towards the 90s)

Whether you or anyone else believes this I could care less. It came across my way that right now the past can be observed, but not physically traveled to. The research learned over the last few years since the "God Particle" was discovered other greater things were learned. They are recreating how all came to be. The hottest and coldest temperatures in our known Universe have been created here on Earth with a Particle Collider, the LHC. From what I was told it is understood that currently top secret scientists are observing how our very own Universe came to be. A strong enough particle Collider allows you to manipulate matter, or at least program a Super Computer, or Artificial Intelligence to do so. Physicists are recreating what we know to exists and then observing it. It's like the most advanced form of scientific observation. Our existence is layered under an infinite amounts of very highly involved mathematical properties. Inter-Dimensional travel, but these physicists aren't going anywhere just "watching". However, what they (scientists) are seeing are real. Images, sounds, and everything is made up of matter and all matter makes sound, or vibration. There are layers and layers of infinite dimensions. It's like watching movies from the past, but it's real life and you're seeing real history. This is knowledge. Eventually history will change as this new phenomena will change the course of human history. Sounds crazy, but it's true.

80's seems like a really weird time. I wouldn't like to go to the 90's either. I like technology :(

I would go back to the 80's and become a big time drug lord by taking advantage of what Escobar hasn't done yet lmao

90's I would just steal every Nirvana song and be rich forever

80s, easy...the music, the cartoons, the video games, the wrestling, the time OUTSIDE...I wasn't paralyzed either!

90's, for the Nintendo World Championship...

Just think, in that crappy movie Wizard. The kid got one warp whistle on Mario Bros. 3 and got the furthest, but I could get the castle and stage 1-3 whistle and warp to world 8, winning myself a gold NWC cartridge.
