Calls for compulsory school Islam classes after axe attack

Local authorities are calling for classes on Islam to be brought in at schools across the country after a radicalized Muslim youth attacked passengers on a train with an axe on Monday.

“It is appropriate to bring in classes on Islam in state schools or schools overseen by the state,” Gerd Landsberg, head of the association of local councils, told the Rheinische Post on Wednesday.

In this way the state can gain more control over the upbringing of Muslim youths, Landsberg said.

On Monday evening, an attacker whom investigators believe was a 17-year-old refugee from Afghanistan, seriously wounded four people with an axe and is reported to have shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is great) several times.

Terror group Isis later released a video in which the youth made threats in Pashto while holding a knife.

Senior figures in the church had already called at the end of May for Islam classes to become compulsory at schools.

The head of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, said that religious education was the best way to immunize Muslim youths against the dangers of Islamist fundamentalism.

He also said he was in favour of Muslim religious associations taking over responsibility for providing this education, just as churches are responsible for religious education about Christianity.

Six of Germany’s 16 states currently offer classes in Islam at school.

So... When the classes get to Muhammad executing Meccan prisoners following the battle of Badr in 624 AD, will a note of "student discretion advised" be issued? Or the episode of Muhammad's condoning the mass enslaving, raping and forcing into marriage of Jewish women after he led the slaughter of the men of the Jewish tribes of Banu Qurayza in 627 and Banu Nadir in 629? Or Muhammad's condoning of the slaughter of women and children besieged in Ta'if in 630? Etcetera?

Since Germany is so progressive I wonder how they'll feel about the African slave trade brought about by Islamic conquest and purposely keeping tribes and peoples from conversion so they could tax/enslave them? Somehow it keeps getting forgotten that African slavery was massive in the Islamic world and even worse they would send out their slaves into battle with nothing much just to be cannon fodder.

I'm guessing that will be left out, slavery is a "white invention" after all to these "progressives".

In principle I think this is a good idea. A rational, objective analysis of religions and the claims they make about the world should be an important part of anyone's education. If the religions are true they should stand up it, indeed they should welcome it.

If any religion is true it is the most important thing in the world that we get it right, by getting it wrong we may be condemning billions to eternal torment. If they are all false they are a tremendous waste of time and money. Either way it is of extreme importance and the claims of and reasons for believing in each religion should be thoroughly examined and tested so we can we which, if any, is true.

It's a terrible idea to let the religious leaders teach it though. They'll obviously be completely biased. I fear that in practice this would turn out to be a propaganda exercise for the religions in question. In the UK we are taught about religions but the teachers always seemed to be extremely reluctant to doubt any of the claims made even if they were contradictory or blatantly impossible. I fear this would turn out to be propaganda.

This is either good news because it'll make more Germans see how vile islam is, or bad news because it'll just brainwash more people into becoming part of this stupid cult. What I do know for sure is that both results will happen, which will happen more is yet to be seen but the world needs more ex muslims to fight.

Shame on Germany nonetheless.

Please learn what literally actually means.

I like the feeling behind this but of course it's all about the execution. If the right teachers can provide helpful education to combat underground radical forces out there isn't this a good thing? Information is the key in this day and age and holds more power and has more reach than anything else.

These bitches can suck my dick. We're already receiving mandatory Islam classes, sometimes multiple classes a week...

If I had a kid I would not allow him/her to be indoctrinated and coerced into loving Islam. Hopefully there are some fellow Germans left who feel the same way and haven't turned into complete cucks yet.

But let's say for the sake of argument that informed, open minded teachers were teaching with a specific view to combat extremism, would you be for it?
Hilarious. Bro, we're at the point where German state-run television will not even mention a muslim killer's name if it happens to be an Ali or a Mohammed. If people still can't see where this is going, there really is no hope left at this point.

We can all say 'get fucked, blow them up etc etc' but what do you do to stop young muslims who may be in the process or at risk of being radicalized covertly?

Making classes mandatory is never going to work but if you get them young enough I guarantee there is less chance of youths ending up in fucked up organisations like ISIS. Education is the key.

My father suggests I try to immigrate & study in Germany since he says it's easy.

My response is always fuck no.

I'd rather work harder on going to nations where I can speak against islam than fucking go to Germany.

Jesus Christ @KC Armstrong your posts make me livid, I wish someone just stormed into Saudi Arabia and just trashed Mecca and figuratively raped islam's culture the same way muslims are raping European culture. Do I think it's fine if a country invades Saudi Arabia? Uhm, yeah, yeah I do. These dirtbags deserves a taste of their own medicine (and believe me, ex muslims in Saudi Arabia would appreciate it). Sigh.

The damage is already done. Merkel has imported Islamic terrorism into our country and you're not going to change these savages by giving them "integration courses" and teaching them our ways. The only thing left is to stop bringing in another 2, 3, 4 million savages. We're talking about damage control, nothing else. They've already brought in way too many dangerous animals, there will be a lot more blood running through the streets of Germany, that is 100% guaranteed.

Voting this cunt Merkel out of office ain't gonna help, either, by the way. The major parties are all the same, all hellbent on destroying our country & culture. Realistically, all I can do personally is watch this thing burn to the ground and hope I'm never in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sad but true.

Disgusting. I don't care what religion it is, to make it mandatory in schools is completely unethical. This is a great way to brainwash and poison the minds of young Germans and Muslims. Who's going to speak out if this is hijacked by radicals? Nobody, because Germany is a country of weakness and pandering.

If the plan is to just give Muslim children in Germany classes about Islam I don't think that could really hurt anyone.

Maybe they can do what Christians managed to do a while ago and teach people that in fact religion isn't supposed to condone all of these horrible things when the literal words of the book kind of say to the contrary.

Well, it could result in people seeing how inane islam is or it'll brainwash people.

Knowing Germany, they will hide how vile islam is and to further solidify my statement my girlfriend went to a Christian school with Christian studies in the UK and told me that they never taught her about how vile Christianity was. However she is godless now, so like I said this could result in brainwashing or just have people not give a fuck and eventually just become godless due to living in a mostly godless society.

It's the genuine practicing muslims we should worry about.

My sister called me and was telling me about where she lived they're trying to pass something that will let the state higher teachers without a four year degree to teach, that means 1 or 2 year degree people will be able to teach and in some cases just being in College. Now this wouldn't be unusual for a small community but they're talking state wide.

Now you may think this has nothing to do with this but just imagine if you will Germany cannot find enough moderate teachers for this, so who then teaches? Have they not learned their lesson when the made muslim refugees security in the camps and suddenly Islamic crimes against non-muslims went up in the camps? Do they really think this is going to work unless you get someone who focuses on the education part over the Religious part?
