'DO NOT GO TO EUROPE' US State Department warns against travelling to EU over terror risk

AMERICAN officials have today warned US citizens against travelling to Europe over fears that another mass terrorist attack is imminent.

By Nick Gutteridge

The US State Department released the urgent note today warning Americans of the possible threat of terrorist attacks carried about by Islamic State (ISIS) maniacs across the continent this summer.

In their dire warning the officials said jihadi gunmen could attack majhor tourist sites, restaurAnd they stated their fears that another massacre like the Brussels and Paris attacks is being planned by Islamist terrorists.

And they stated their fears that another massacre like the Brussels and Paris attacks is being planned by Islamist terrorists.

They stated: "We are alerting U.S. citizens to the risk of potential terrorist attacks throughout Europe, targeting major events, tourist sites, restaurants, commercial centers and transportation.

"The large number of tourists visiting Europe in the summer months will present greater targets for terrorists planning attacks in public locations, especially at large events."

The warning appeared prominently on the US State Department’s website, with the accompanying message: “The State Department alerts US citizens to potential risks of travel to and throughout Europe following several terrorist attacks, including the March 22 attacks in Brussels claimed by ISIS.”

It warned that the Euro 2016 football tournament and the Tour de France cycling event could be “potential targets” for jihadi attackers looking to wreak havoc.
2016 has seen quite a bit of damage done to European bank stocks and a decline in tourist travel this summer could easily have majorly problematic economic consequences for Europe. Only weeks away from Great Britain's referendum on "Brexit," on the question of whether or not they want to stay in the European Union, too.

The Bulgarians have sent a large number of troops to the Greek border after the migrant camp riots and clashes throughout much of Greece over the past few weeks, with the Bulgarians reportedly stopping almost two hundred migrants from entering their country over the past several days.

Hope that the next planned terror attack by ISIS is thwarted.

You mean it isn't a good idea to let millions of people migrate who have a very different culture that is much more accepting of supremacist thought and violence and make no effort to get those people to accept their new homes' less violent cultural norms because that would be raaaaaaaaaaaaacist? And you don't make much effort to integrate them economically or generally educationally either? No, those can't possibly be bad ideas.

So they are basically saying - without of course actually saying it - to not go to Europe because the influx of Muslim refugees/migrants/immigrants opens the continent up to greater terrorist threats? But Trump's a racist for saying he wants to ban Muslims from entering the US, but it's okay for the State Department to warn Americans of the dangers of visiting Europe because there's too many Muslims there.

It is getting more dangerous in Europe....the war is coming.....

I'd just like to point out that there were 372 mass shootings (killing 475 people and wounding 1,870) and 64 SCHOOL shootings in the US in 2015. Those were NON terrorism incidents and "mass shootings" don't include shootings of 3 or less people....(Figures courtesy of BBC)

So....in terms of danger, I'd much rather be over here than there. We don't get mass shootings very often and school shootings even less....(Dunblane, where Andy Murray went to school was the last IIRC and gun restrictions and bans on handguns became absolute then).

As for the type of attacks we've seen in Europe - How do you stop a guy getting on a train/bus with a backpack and blowing himself up? With all the surveillance in the world catching people like in Paris or Belgium that use burner phones is pure luck and very unlikely. People are being radicalised over the internet and this stuff will only get worse in Europe and another attack in the States is almost inevitable.

If I had the money and could take time off from work I would go. Fuck the terrorists. I am not going to cower like a bitch and let them win. Sure I would be careful and watch things around me. You know, like ANY vacation. The way to beat terrorists is keeping living life. There whole game plan is TERROR. If you do not show terror they aint got jack shit.

There are an estimated 3 million migrants waiting to get in Turkey side. Turkey has been forcing those of higher education and skills to stay in Tukey. Turkey also wants travel passes into Europe so even if those three million don't get in, you have millions of turks wanting to move, Turkey has the EU over a barrel. Only last year Turkey's President was boasting how Islam would dominate Europe soon, it seems he got his wish. To compound matters, there is another 800+ million Libya side with millions more estimated to eventually migrate. This summer and the next few years could be crucial, with the Euro navy bringing them to Europe rather than turning them away, more and more people are migrating.

What's odd is that Obama was sending his untrained ambassadors to places like Poland, Hungary and Cech Republic to threaten them to take in migrants and stay within the EU. Obama himself was talking about the importance of the EU and humanitarianism yet the US issues warnings to not go to Europe? I find that to be hilarious.

Anyone who hasn't gone to Europe should make an effort to go and fuck the terrorists. Europe is awesome. You can do whatever the fuck you want basically and the food and drink is awesome. Go to Amsterdam and get the best weed you've ever had. Go to Oktoberfest for the greatest atmosphere in the world. Go to carnivale in Venice. Holy shit that's a good time.

Honestly, the overwhelming chances are you'll be fine and you'll have a blast.

I read about this, the rich or the leftists who support "enrichment" will never live among the very people they campaign for. It's a sick joke! I also find it funny people are saying that "European culture is stagnate so an infusion of another culture will revitalize it."

European culture has not been stagnate, birthrates have gone down due to exceeding costs and people focusing on careers, less births = good. The fact is even if European culture was indeed stagnate, a failed culture mixing with a stagate one isn't likely to produce anything of value. People need to realize not all cultures are equal or even have any real value.

Translation: don't go to France, Belgium, Greece/Turkey and maybe Germany.

I wouldn't go to these countries now anyway after the terrorist attacks and problems with migrants, but to say avoid all of Europe is just stupid.

I will be spending most of my summer this year in Slovenia, probably the safest country in Europe and ranked one of the safest worldwide. I have also been to Austria, Croatia and Italy this year with no problems whatsoever. Other countries I want to see in Europe that are safe countries are: Czech Republic, Portugal and Hungary.

Well I am finishing my IGCSE's this year, my parents have booked a 2 week trip to Spain and France for this July, and Im going with them along with my brother. I'm already a bit concerned about the situation over there, but this is just freaking me out right now. I will be visiting cities like Barcelona, Paris and Toulouse. I know those cities have a relatively high risk of getting hit with terrorist attacks, however the fact that US State Department is issuing this alert might mean they have received some sort of intelligence? I don't know, I might be overreacting here but seriously I hope nothing happens over there. Wish me luck guys, Ill report back after I return from the trip :)

You may be more likely to be killed by terrorists in Europe, but the chances are still vanishingly small. In the UK, for example, not a single civilian has been killed by a terrorist in the UK for over ten years, while even in France only 150 people were killed by terrorists last year out of a population of 66,030,000. To put that into context someone living in France for the entirety of the last year would have a 0.0003% chance of being killed by a terrorist. If you only include people who aren't involved in the production of cartoons insulting Muhammad the chances are much lower. For a tourist there for a week the chances would be much lower still.

It's also worth considering that we have effective gun control here. The chances of being killed by any criminal, be they terrorist, mugger, gang banger, armed robber, college student or cinema goer are much lower here than they are in America. Frankly I think the best recommendation the State department could give as far as safety would be to say get to Europe as quickly as possible and stay there for as long as possible.

Ukraine uncovers plot to smuggle ISIS sympathizers into Europe

MOSCOW – Ukraine's security service says it has uncovered a plot to smuggle Islamic State sympathizers to Western Europe.

The SBU said in a statement Wednesday that it has sent an undercover agent posing as an ISIS sympathizer wanting to get to Western Europe to an apartment in the eastern city of Kharkiv. The agency said a citizen "of a neighboring country" who had posed as a preacher plotted to send the IS sympathizers to Europe.

Ukraine borders several European Union nations in the western part of the country.

Unlike Russia, Ukraine doesn't have a sizeable Muslim population and there have been no reports of a significant number of Ukrainians going off to fight in Syria.

I actually find it hilarious that people would fear going to Europe from America if I'm totally honest. To be scared to leave a country where such videos as "How to survive an encounter with a police officer" (in the UK, we just say "Good morning") are made, the idea of being scared going to a place where the vast majority of people have never even seen a real gun is a little silly. Europe, even with terrorists has barely any gun related deaths at all compared to the US. We don't have many school shootings, police shooting the populous, the populous shooting each other and the police, armed militias training themselves in the wilderness - these are problems America has fairly often though. Most of our police in the UK aren't armed, they don't need to be because we're not running around putting bullet holes in each other all the time, it really is that simple. Don't fear going to Europe, fear taking your children to school in America, more shootings are happening there, in your churches (with your white right-wing psychopaths) in your streets and on your highways. You're more likely to have a pigeon shit on your head than ever see a gun in most European cities.

Why would anyone fear going to Europe? The chances of a terror attack are pretty slim, could happen. Tho really just avoid the scary places, Europeans are a bunch of push overs, a migrant looks at one cross and they'd offer up their mother and sister while cowering in fear and wetting their pants. I say go to Europe! Nothing to be afraid of!

Lol, fucking yanks. Yeah, a whole entire continent of half a billion people is suddenly "dangerous". From a safety perspective, I'd rather send my kids to school in any european country than anywhere in America. You people CREATED this whole fucking situation anyway! Land of the brave? Bullshit. Get back under your covers, ladies.

Don't blame America for Europe's suicidal desire to be multi-cultural and tolerant.

Ridiculous. You have a far better chance of getting shot in Chicago, than you will ever have of being the victim of a terrorist attack.

I know ISIS are the big boogeyman nowadays and all, but let's put them to a perspective. The IRA used to kill a lot more civilians in Europe than ISIS ever did, and nobody pissed their pants because of them.

Fact: You are 55 times.more likely to be killed by your television falling on you than by Islamic terrorists.

If there were an actual terrorist threat in the US, maybe closing the northern and southern borders would be a good idea so a terrorist couldn't fly to Canada and then tip toe across the border at one of many unmonitored crossings.

If there was a real threat of terrorism, maybe just once since 9/11 someone would have blown themselves up on a packed commuter rail during rush hour.

If there was a real threat of terror, then why hasn't this boogie man known as terror come and done some of the easiest but most effective terrorist acts?

Why is it that we Americans have blinders on to the illegal and immoral wars that our elected officials force our troops to conduct? We are so blind to our own atrocities that most of the dummies actually believe "they hate us for our freedoms."

When did Americans become the most pathetically afraid dopes on the planet?

More people died from gun related deaths in the US in the last 6 months than died in the last 20 years in the UK. I'll leave that there whilst you tell me how much "safer" the US is. Fuck off.

#83 ·
And you realise those deaths were concentrated mostly in three cities right... O wait, you told me to fuck off like the typical immature ranter that can't deal with these rationally.

If the gun control crowd was rational and mature it would be nice.
