Elijah Wood says there's a secret pedophile ring in Hollywood and child actors are 'prey'

Elijah Wood has been in the entertainment business most of his life.
Having started out doing local modeling and commercial work in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he moved out to Los Angeles with his family as an 8-year-old in the mid-1980s, where he got work on the Paula Abdul music video “Forever Your Girl” and gained acclaim in the ‘90s movie “Avalon.”
Though it seems like a glamorous way to be brought up, Wood, now 35, is revealing for the first time that Hollywood is dealing with a child sexual-abuse epidemic.
In a revealing piece about the “Lord of the Rings” star for The Sunday Times, Wood is quoted saying child actors are regularly “preyed upon” by “vipers” in Hollywood.
Wood told The Times that he “never went to parties where that kind of thing was going on,” because his mother, Debra, protected him from interacting with people who could take advantage of him.
But he did note: “I’ve been led down dark paths to realize that these things are probably still happening.”
Wood is not the first former child star over the years to make this claim.
In 2011, Corey Feldman told ABC’s “Nightline” that he has been a victim of sexual abuse by men in Hollywood.
“I can tell you that the No. 1 problem in Hollywood was and is and always will be pedophilia,” he said. “That’s the biggest problem for children in this industry … It’s the big secret.”
Last year, the documentary “An Open Secret” delved into accusations of a pedophile ring in Hollywood. It put a spotlight on accusations by adults who said they were abused by men in the film industry when they were child actors.
A large portion of the movie explores the convicted sex offenders who owned and operated the late-'90s multimedia company Digital Entertainment Network.
Though it was directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg, the film had a very small theatrical release.
Wood, who has seen “An Open Secret,” said in the Times story that the film “only scratches the surface. I feel there was much more to this story than it articulates.”
“People with parasitic interests will see you as their prey,” Wood said of child actors who know little about the business and want to find a way to succeed. “What upsets me about these situations is that the victims can’t speak as loudly as the people in power.”
Sad story which is probably brimming with all too much truth to it. To hear from Elijah Wood that An Open Secret "only scratches the surface" is exceedingly disheartening, although not entirely surprising. "Pedophile parties" have been allegedly widespread throughout certain fiefdoms of Hollywood for many years.
Of course, not too long ago Allison Arngrim from Little House on the Prairie noted that the stories of Corey Feldman and Corey Haim being abused as child stars were commonly known, and only the proverbial tip of the iceberg.
Wood's always come across as an honest figure within Hollywood. His comments are interesting.
Recommend An Open Secret, though it is certainly not "enjoyable viewing" at all.
This isn't uncommon, it's been brought up before and it gets ignored. I think Freddie Prinze Junior mentioned a lot of the pervasive stuff that goes on and he got black balled from Hollywood for the most part.
After Jimmy Savile, I'm no longer surprised at old men in the entertainment industry preying on young children. It isn't just Hollywood but everywhere.
I've read all kinds of crazy shit about this, a lot (most) is probably just made up internet BS but you can really go down the rabbit hole if you look into it a bit. Lots of stories about that Nickelodeon (?) guy who produces all those shows with girls like Ariana Grande etc. I forget his name off the top of my head (no libel here :woywoah). IIRC I read it on the misc though so it's probably untrue :woywoah
BUT it doesn't surprise me that this shit does definitely happen. There are obviously a lot of sick fucks in the world, and if they have the power to do these things and get away with it's gonna happen. Especially in a setting like Hollywood where you've got all those young, naive people desperate to get their break.
internet supersleuths *deduced* that an anonymous commenter on an anonymous blog post was actually robert downey jr., and that the unnamed person that "robert downey jr" was accusing was the nickelodeon producer.
If you don't name names, you are part of the problem. I don't see what Elijah Wood is trying to achieve by having his name attached other than to further his personal agenda - to remain relevant. He should have remained anonymous. Yes, children are being exploited. Address it with specifics.
Spielberg, Joel Schumacher, Rob Reiner... I mean, big names have been hinted at. Charlie Sheen's is all over the Haim case. Woody Allen is obviously currently embroiled in a matter. The way he and Polanski are treated makes it seem permissible in that environment. Unfortunately, I like watching their films. I don't know where that puts me.
I don't know if salacious flicks like The Neon Demon hurt or help. It could be a thinly veiled criticism of Hollywood, but it also could be a celebration of it. Elle Fanning is the perfect lead considering her age and the way young kids like her are manipulated by an industry willing to do anything for a quick buck... including protecting vile subhumans.

Two guys that I've heard some nasty nasty fucking shit about. Especially Bryan Singer and that's one of the reasons I can't bear to see the new X-men. Can't find myself supporting this creep.
Singer is one I heard of and really you can't name names much, without proof it does no good and you get fucked over in Hollywood. It's pretty nasty but the rules don't apply there.
It seems that historically young actors and actresses have fallen prey to predators within the film industry. Corey Feldman alleged that the root of his and Corey Haim's problems with addiction stemmed from trying to cope. He also made allegations that River Phoenix was abused. What is incredibly tragic is that these young actors seemed almost to accept that if they wanted to keep getting the prime film roles it effectively bought their silence. In each case they were the primary breadwinners for their respective families so you can see why maybe they wouldn't speak up at the time. In Haim and Phoenix's case their demons ultimately destroyed them. The fact that it seems to be an ongoing thing is just sickening.
There is a fantastic documentary by Amy Berg (the Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker who directed Deliver Us from Evil and West of Memphis) called An Open Secret. The film thoroughly examines this issue and names names (including Singer). The film has been successfully suppressed by Hollywood -- it's availability is limited to "screening on demand" where if you get enough people together buying tickets they'll rent a theatre at your local Cineplex for one showing of the film. It's a powerful film that I could not more highly recommend: http://anopensecretfilm.com
Not surprising in the least. I bet it happens in the music industry as well. It's freaky to think about who these people are exactly. It could be someone that's as innocent as a puppy on the outside that partakes in these morbid activities in secret.
I've heard some of the rumors about Charlie Sheen, John Travolta and the like, and I do believe a lot of said rumors have some truth to them. But with the amount of power and influence many of these men have, they'll continue to be protected sadly.
Polanski showed me that Hollywood is willing to "separate the artist from the work" to the point that you can do anything and still have jobs
The fact that major actors have supported "he may rape kids BUT HE MAKES GOOD MOVIES FREE HIM" is enough to make me distrust things
I still like Chinatown but ending where the pedophile wins is hilarious now (I like to think that Polanski felt it was a movie where the hero won)
Its honestly not surprising look at how many stories there are of directors acting like cocks and getting people fired, the "artists" are untouchable and treating your actors like props is perfectly fine
also can someone do a study WITHOUT the "Satanist child sex ritual for the Jewish bankers" angle?
It lets real criminals get away because you attach stupid "riders" of your pet theory and makes the whole the whole thing easy to right off
I thought that was well known that jews were mostly pedophile in Hollywood. There's a video about disney movies having clear sexual motives in some of their caps.
People with power generally are into rape, pedophilia, scat, piss, bestiality, rape and similar things due to their power, they don't get off on romance anymore since sluts are throwing themselves at them and are submissive bitches who will let them do anything with them as long as those whores get money. People with power don't fuck the same way normal people do since the women don't get fucked because they like their personality or looks, but their money and status.
So I really don't feel bad for them except the kids, but it's the parents materialistic whore-ish attitude that gives them access to this. If no parents would let their kids get raped/molested for money there would be no issue, but these parents willingly let those guys get their hands on their kids as long as they get paid well. THEY enforce and support those actions. Believe me, the parents are no victims, they're the criminals for letting these things even happen.
I would use a death sentence for both the parents and the perpetrators.
Lost Boys & Stand by Me I believe were mentioned by Haim and there were reports related to Drew Barrymore during E.T. as well as questions over Heather O'Rourke from Poltergeist.

Fuck these ******* and I hope they die and/or get murdered or at least kill themselves. But I guess rape is legal as long as you have enough money and as long as these jewish, unmoralic parents want the money. I wish they all killed themselves. Religious people are by far the biggest whores out there and it's no contest, no wonder they compensate by hypocrisy about beeing good people when they're all a bunch of cocksuckers for a few euros or dollars. They're not even human. I'm not pro-Hitler but the term sub-human fits prefectly to those trash. And if you read this and get mad, just kill yourself, you have no meaning to me and I have zero empathy to trash and chances of drinking a beer over your death are much higher than feeling sorry for you...that's how low I think of religious degenerics. How you people can still call yourself humans is beyond me.
I have NEVER been able to understand the hypocrisy of making every other form of child labor illegal except acting and honestly speaking children in an industry that's already rife with alcohol, drugs and sex (and I hate to say this having worked in the media myself) --- not just the actors, but the producers, directors, behind the scenes people, hollywood is seriously worse for children than even factory settings .. not that I'm suggesting that children should be put in factories.
The majority of child actors end up screwed up. And this is a fact. The child actors that escape the "evils" of the industry are in the minority unfortunately. The worst offender in my opinion being Disney's mickey mouse club. There's very few child stars from Disney that don't go through a completely screwed up phase.
Pedophilia is just one of the worst of the issues, the other issue that's also completely ignored and brushed under the rug is the high rates of OD's, drug use and suicides amongst actors (both child and adults).
People assume that acting is not hard labor and therefore should be exempt from child labor laws --- but those people who say that need exposure in acting to learn just how strenuous it is --- both physically and mentally. I've been around actors as I worked in the media for 5 years. Theirs is very hard labor - comparable to (if not worse in terms of actual hours worked) than assembly line workers. It's just not recognized as such because of the glamor associated with it and people's lack of knowledge of the industry as a whole.
I was just one of the producers on a TV channel and will you believe that 72 hour "days" were the norm? Sure we had plenty of down-time to recoup, but when you're working 72 hours straight you eventually succumb to uppers, downers .. and whatever else you can get your hands on in order to continue to function.
What surprises me the most is that we have more people that are more sympathetic to a bunch of whales at Seaworld than child actors in hollywood.
Also completely ignored is the fact that Hollywood is a very closed group of few but very powerful men and women that exert enough influence to completely destroy any dissenter's career because all media is intertwined somehow. The fact that this documentary *that's mentioned in the article barely got any media attention meanwhile Blackfish and other propaganda flicks are easily put in everyone's face is a testament to just how much power and influence hollywood has on Americans.
It's a job where you get all kinds of alone time with children and batshit parents hell-bent on fame for the most part.
Can't say it's shocking, we've seen it from the church, the boys club and anyplace where an adult ad unlimited access to children....shits basically a breeding ground for this type of heinous actions.
Been hearing about this since Corey Feldman. A lot of sick pigs in Hollywood industry preying on young kids for sure. Glad more people are speaking up
