If you can bare watching TYT's sheer stupidity, do watch as the guy in the video makes a good point at the end talking about how much of a hypocrite he is. Maybe some here will learn as well.

A photo posted to Facebook of a dog with its muzzle taped shut has gained worldwide attention and created a social media frenzy.

The photo with the caption "This is what happens when you don't shut up!!!" was posted to a Facebook page belonging to a woman named Katie Brown, who according to her page lives in South Daytona.

Brown's post was shared more than 300,000 times since it was posted Friday morning.

The South Daytona Police Department received hundreds of calls from around the state, country and world including people from Canada, Germany and Australia, which spurred them to investigate the case.

Police learned the woman was out of state with the dog when the photo was posted.

"Police will be contacting this person once she returns to our city," police posted on the City's Facebook page. "Rest assured that a full investigation will be done and appropriate action will be taken. Again, thank you for the outpouring of concern and sharing of information."

I do agree the woman was being a cunt, but god damn look at the HUGE reaction this dog thing got and how other MAJOR atrocities got lesser or even little to no reaction at all.

The only people I love more than my dogs is my wife and son, people fucking suck. Of course I'm not a very friendly person except to my wife, son & dogs so maybe it's just me that sucks...

We can process and focus our outrage at individual acts such as this... get too extreme or encompass a much wider sect of something (animals or humans) and we simply react with numbness or "this sucks.........." as we tend to try to ignore it for our own sanity.

This is a sound explanation and a huge part of it.

Furthermore, when we see that dog we can only see a dog. Not a brown dog, not a white dog, not a Muslim dog, not a Russian dog, not an anti-abortion dog, not a liberal or conservative dog.

We put people in boxes because it makes things simpler and saves times. It also utterly fucks up society and mires us in perpetual conflict and tragic misunderstanding.

I might see dead Palestinian children and see dead children, the worst sight eyes can see. Others might see unfortunate but necessary 'collateral damage', some may even see dead 'future terrorists', others simple 'dead Muslims'.

There's a reason most observers from countries outside of the USA see the American police force murdering unarmed civilians, disproportionately black Americans at at least 5x the rate, and see grotesque tyranny while Lectoyo and others make vulgar facetious comments about how they were "perfectly innocent", implying that they deserved to be publicly executed without trial if they had any sort of legal infraction.

You have to be neck deep in the politics of division to see yet another victim of police tyranny and say "He probably had it coming, I bet he'd broken some sort of law" when the sober outsider says "They're unarmed which means if you kill them, you've murdered them. There is no crime that carries the punishment of public execution without trial. This is appalling".

The dog carries no such equivocality. It could bully a postman, it could bark too loud, it could even have bitten someone - it's still just a dog, not a thug, not a n*gger, not an Islamist, not a whore. Now when people can view a dog as "just a fucking animal, who gives a shit" then they just seem evil because 'we' at least give ourselves reasons as to why a dead victim had it coming.

For the record, those who say "I like animals more than people anyway because people are horrible" are horrible people if they lack compassion for human beings based on this. They're too ignorant and foolish to see that THEY are the uncaring cold dead inside human to everybody but themselves. Hitler thought animal testing was barbaric so he tested chemicals on Jews instead. If you think humans are too cruel then don't be one yourself.

Unless you're in a high risk group then a flu shot is not necessary. High risk being

- Anyone aged 65 years or over
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 15 years or over (this is in Australia, not sure if the same holds true for other ethnicities)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged between six months and five years
- Pregnant women
- Anyone with with medical conditions that can lead to severe influenza

and then to add onto that health care workers should also get flu shots.

Outside of this subset of the population the flu isn't a major risk whatsoever.

This... so much this. I hate that the other guy is trying so hard to paint me anti vax when it's all about common sense vaccinations. I wish I was truly anti vax. I wouldn't have had to endure the shot last month..... I hate needles. Give me a reason to say "NO NEEDLE STAY AWAY!".

Poor dog. First some crazy bitch duct tapes it's mouth shut, then there's a bunch of hipster doofuses on the internet bragging about how much they care about vague atrocities in comparison to the people who just wanted to stop an instance of animal abuse. Also, how do you know what these people devote their time to? You don't. So please stop making an ass of yourself with your assumptions.

Expecting consistent reactions is the primary folly. Just because I care about my dog doesn't mean I care about a random dog. Just because I care about a random dog doesn't mean I care about the cow I eat.

The pain I care about is the pain I'm exposed to, that which hurts me too (or in certain cases that which is supposed to i.e. phony rage). Subjective synthesis of external phenomena will always be innately fallible (and thus our entire psychological frame).

In the end, is it preferable to feel much pain or little?

edit: oh is this thread about vaccines now?

Vaccinations are important, without herd immunity outbreaks occur easily. disease travels fast when large amounts of people are around which is why it's important to be sure your kids are vaccinated, when sick you cover up and you rest and stay healthy. The anti vaxxers are ruining the herd immunity, now we're seeing cases of diseases that were contained or eliminated show up again. This prolly isn't all the antivaxxers fault as some immigrants and illegals coming in do not have vaccinations but antivaxxes do not help with this. Antivaxxers put everyone else at risk, especially younger children who cannot be vaccinated yet.

As for the dog, ever had the police called on you because a dog won't stop barking? I have, it's not fun. I can see her frustration but she shouldn't have taped it's mouth shut.

I don't dislike you or anything and you do have some good views, but I have to finally say it. You are so ignorant on the topic of immigration and people coming from other countries that it's not even funny.

Why do you think immigrants and illegals are unvaccinated? Is it because only your enlightened western pilgrims have healthcare and the savages in other countries don't? You cannot get immigration to America if your vaccines are not up to date. There's a medical requirement that has to be completed and that requires up to date vaccinations before they even give you a visa to enter the states (and other countries are the same).

And if illegals were bringing disease with them you'd see outbreaks in their communities since they all tend to huddle together and yet we don't. You know .. the rest of the world isn't as savage as it used to be.

Not 1 outbreak has been linked to an illegal or immigrant and still you want to believe something that's not based on fact at all.

Hypocritical Jane:

Today - "She should have her mouth duct-taped shut and tortured to death"

Yesterday - "You can't bomb a country because they killed 152 innocent people"

Last week - "Let them riot, this is the only way they can fight back against police brutalizing them for being poor, innocent citizens"

Regardless, people are stupid. The people who tape their dogs mouths are stupid, the people who threaten her are stupid, and the people who haven't been mentioned yet...are stupid.

Just wanted to hop by and say that like a lot of people, I prefer animals to humans, hence the backlash this sow has received. You gotta remember that animal cruelty cases are always made into a big deal because those who indulge in it think they can get away with everything since it's "just an animal".

Which is something unsufferably unfair and disgusting to hear. At least, people torturing other people aren't downplaying it, and are wholefully embracing their violence and murderous tendancies.

People torturing animals don't give a fuck about it, and nobody are calling them psychopaths either, when those specist PoS who think Lord Human has all the rights on everything living or not definately are the epitome of psychopathy.

Who cares about the other atrocities? Obviously, bitching about it has led to the investigation by the local authorities. People know that bitching about other atrocities does nothing. You act like those other atrocities have been ignored. Get off the internet.

I and many others care about other atrocities. People know that bitching about other atrocities does nothing? No, some people just don't care enough to make a big deal about issues they don't care about. I won't get off the internet, and I'll keep using the internet whether you like it or not.

^And this is why I directly attacked these anti-vaxxers (the most unreasonable ones) instead of trying to debate with them.

They're beyond reason and discussion. It's not my first rodeo with anti-vaxxers unfortunately. I learnt last year what all their arguments are and they're all the same. They're not going to change their minds. Eventually they will force dystopian laws to be forced into place just because they're not reasonable enough to not be governed.

Initially I thought this was dreadful, deplorable even, but firstly the notion that this getting more publicity than other atrocities is a negative on society is crazy.

It's social media where you only hear types of people only talking about the deaths of soldiers when a Celebrity dies, they only talk about Doctors/Nurses wages when they hear of the money a sports star earns, and they only mention terrorism in other countries to counteract the vast media coverage of the attacks on Paris. So, saying there is so much public online outcry about something like this yet other MAJOR atrocities don't get the same amount of coverage, it goes both ways.

Secondly, I don't know if it's SO bad. I love animals, and if this was someone who just did it because then fuck her, but I understand how annoying a barking dog can be who will not stop barking, and as much as the idea of literally taping something's mouth shut is insane, it's not dissimilar from the muzzles you can buy to stop dogs barking. If it was a picture of that, a dog using one of those, no-one would bat an eye lid.

The internet sleuths "who have taken it upon themselves to continue the investigation" though... I can picture them, thinking they're on CSI, trying to track this person down and getting some excitement into their lives.

It's because all those major atrocities start to all sound and look the same. Nothing stands out anymore. Like a bombing? It's almost a daily occurrence now. Or basically anything ISIS does or is doing.

This got an outpouring of support not just because it was wrong, but because the owner is basically boasting to the world that they did it like people would somehow applaud their disciplinary methods as pet owners. fpalm

But the reason this got more attention from people is because you don't see this everyday and that dog deserves a better home! Dogs are also seen as more innocent and loving than people so it's easier to feel sympathy for a dog. They are called "man's best friend" for a reason.

Everyone's best friend just got abused. The reaction was justified.

Who gives a shit if these atrocities in your view "stand out", they're still RIDICULOUSLY MUCH WORSE atrocities than what happened to this dog.

ISIS boast about killing innocents, hunters boast about killing innocent animals, The west boasts about bombing the middle east every now and then, some feminists boast about men suffering by posting a shitload of images of "male tears". All these asshats boast about being asshats and they don't get an immediate huge reaction online like this.

I already know the reasons why people gave this more attention. Most people give in to their selfishness and biases, because they like dogs whether it's because they think they're cute or because they own dogs these hypocrites will rage over dogs being hurt but other animals or other humans being hurt gets a "meh" or a "who cares" reaction from them. This is the same shit as the "Pray For Paris" dogshit, everyone was all so very sad over a bunch of French people dying but who cares about sand people dying right?

It's not that people bitched about this that disgusts me, it's that THIS gets this kind of reaction yet other innocent animals get SLAUGHTERED EVERYDAY and most people don't care. It's fucking pathetic how hypocritical people can be, showing sympathy to dogs yet not giving a rat's ass about say pigs (who are smarter than dogs) who get tortured & slaughtered in slaughter houses. You saying "it's easier to feel sympathy for dogs" also makes this more disgusting as it's no different than people who go "it's easier to feel sympathy for hot chicks".

This is bloody idiotic and you know it.
