Today is Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year. Did anyone go shopping today?
Hot Topic has all tees $10 each in store and online. I bought a Marilyn Manson shirt and a fishnet shirt.
Gamestop has buy 2, get one free all pre owned games. I bought 3 DS games and a 3DS game.
And I bought Laverne and Shirley season 2, Sex and the City season 1 and The Addams Family volume 1 as part of the buy 2, get one free sale @ Movie Trading Company.
Surprisingly, none of the stores were crowded. I guess it was due to the rain.
I've been having a great day not being at the stores and playing video games and hanging out with my brother and out cousin who is visiting for Thanksgiving
Black Friday is becoming less and less of a thing due to internet shopping. I never go anyway. Stores are too crowded and not all the "doorbuster" sales items are of the highest quality. One way or another, I'll be damned if I am getting up at 3 in the morning just to get a chance to get something I don't need at half price.
I don't have the patience to deal with all the selfish and rude people you encounter on Black Friday. Besides, there's nothing I truly need bad enough that I have to bother.
I just buy some stuff online, and otherwise I'll just go out another day.
Our version of Black Friday in NZ is on December 26, aka Boxing Day, the day after Christmas :lol It's the busiest shopping day of the year. I never buy anything big that day, just cheap DVDs and CDs and the like lol.
Thankfully, Canada has really adopted Black Friday in recent years.
The Bay (A Canadian department store, equivalent to Macy's) had some amazing sales. :cry
Today was my third annual Black Friday and like before, it was a solid outing. I'd say it was better than last year's, though not as great as my first year. Scored the complete fifth season of Adventure Time, a Catbug plush and three hard-to-come-by Amiibo (Little Mac, the male Inkling and Yarn Yoshi). :I
I would've nabbed Chibi-Robo's Amiibo, but Amazon's not releasing it until November 30.
I don't like going shopping under normal circumstances, so there is no way I would go to a store on "Black Friday."
However, it was just coincidence, but I did make a purchase on line. I got a real bargain on this 1970s 22"x28" cardboard poster to add to my collection:

The only problem is that I'm running out of room on my walls! :surprise:
Ordered a PS4 from Amazon, because Wal-Mart told me they were sold out at the local store.
Also wen't up to Wal-Mart and got Dark Souls II for PS4 for 20$
Why the fuck is it happening in the UK now? I've always understood that Black Friday is a big deal because it's the first big shopping day after Thanksgiving in the build-up to Christmas. But we don't have Thanksgiving here.
But I thought I'd get a couple those small SSD's for my Linux server as cache/logging/database drive to remove any load from writes or any thrashing under heavy load.
Got 2 120gig SSD $39 each, then as a 10 year member I had a 10% reward coupon email I'd been holding so I got them for $35 each.
Those 2 boxes are pretty identical, just add the ssd in each, edit Fstab, move syslog and all logging and move/reconfigure mysqld
With all the automated junk I got them doing should really reduce load and can give it some new tasks to chew on.
My main gaming pc boot drive is ssd so far no issues after nearly 2 years
I just did my shopping online. I got WWE 2K16 (PS4) and NHL 16 (PS4) from Amazon.ca for $39.99 each. That's actually a pretty good price here in Canada, since they are regularly $79.99 each.
We got most of the kids' Christmas shopping done...clothes and games mostly. Got my two daughters Minecraft Story Mode for Xbox1, my son bought himself NBA 2K16 and he and his friends across the street have played that pretty much all weekend.
Then, this year my wife and I bought ourselves a new laptop and new recliners for upstairs and downstairs.
In the end, I did do a bit of Black Friday shopping, but only online on WWEShop :lol They had 25% off everything, and I got a couple of shirts (one of them was a Dean Ambrose one, big surprise :lol) and a couple of Christmas decorations. Now to wait weeks for it to arrive, yay -_-
George Romero was right back in 1978 with Dawn of the Dead. He was wrong about one thing, though - they're fast zombies, not slow ones.
