Re: Ronda Rousey challenged by Tank Abott
I'll disqualify myself abit if I'm ignorant, but as far as I'm aware, Ronda Rousey has been bred for this through high level Judo training since a kid eventually on an olympic level, which in a sport in its infancy (WMMA), she is so far ahead of the experience curve that this happens (I've read that alot of the mistakes these women fighters are making against Rousey are pretty basic level mistakes leading to these quick wins).
Doesn't seem like anyone at all is using context though and this Mania is sweeping imo. because A. with most the Pride crop gone and most of Dana's draws either really aging, hurt or under shady circumstances ala Bones and GSP possibly retiring after the controversial Hendricks fight, Dana has gone all in on Ronda and Mcgregor to keep afloat the mainstream wave he is on and B. the timing of this run coincides with this push by media for feminism power. Shit, this seems like Royce Gracie 2.0 to me and surely, the curve will catch up to where the hoopla dies down in the next 5-10 years.
As for her fighting Tank, well, Tank was one big, strong guy, but not one for technique and is quite old while Rousey is all about technique so honestly if I'm Dana I book this. Considering the media isn't using context for this whole situation, win or lose, the media can really run with "OMG Ronda is brave enough to challenge a man in a pro fight what an inspiration", and if she wins, boy would that really line Dana's pockets marketing that.
