to be fair some people are sport fans, but they aren't die hard sports fans. like my gf likes sports but she doesn't have a fav team or anything she just likes different teams and players. IMO if your a die hard fan jumping to the bandwagon is stupidest thing you could do.

That makes me think, another thing I don't agree with is "fans" who go to watch their team play, they get behind on the scorebaord and then they leave before the game is over. It just signifies a total lack of respect for your team and makes the players feel bad seeing their supposed "supporters" leaving. Just another form of "Deserting"

This is sorta how I am with College Football. I just casually watch a couple games on Satuday. But I feel that once you decide to take a real rooting interest and you pick a favorite team. Once you do that, that shit's for life.

Do you mean if the fans leave when there is enough time for a comeback, or when the game is all but over and the team is gonna lose? I don't mind the second one but the first is just a lack of faith.

Would you have said Liverpool could have comeback in that one night in Istanbul? You should not leave till the end IMO.

When I attend games, I stay until well after the final siren, win, lose or draw. I've sat through 50+ point victories, and I've sat through 50+ point defeats. You admire the sport and for a fleeting moment marvel at how that team is dismantling yours, or you're cheering like crazy at the mauling ahead of you.

A real supporter is one who is there through the thick and the thin, and will always support, no matter what.

What are you guys even talking about?

I despise the concept of being a fan, and I'm still behind my decision.

Being a fan is not cool, brah. Being a smart supporter, on the other hand...

Re: Why be a real sport's fan when you can just...

I'm sick of bastard Man United fans talking shit to me about how my team (Arsenal) haven't won anything for years. The guys from my old college class are all from the same area of London as me - born and bred there our whole life, so what makes them think they have the right to mock me just because United win more? I could have easily pussied out and supported United too, but I could never be such a dirty judas and support a team I have no connection with just because they win more.

Yep, exactly. And sometimes, the losing team comes back and wins. They are more likely to come back if they have they have their supporters cheering them on and not an empty stadium.

I'm guessing you're talking about Geelong/Richmond in Round 6.I remember that game because that's where it all started for Geelong. Their window is well and truly shut now though.
