Yeah The Shining was so great it's not even funny how great it was

The worst adaptation I have seen was a great book Phantoms by Dean Koontz, loved that book but the movie was fucking horrible, early Affleck & McGowan, & Liev Shriber

The first that comes to my mind is The Da vinci Code. Great book, horrible movie. Tom Hanks doesn't fit Robert Langdons Character at all.

Re: Punk ass scrilla AKA Mr. I Wish I Was A Mod

Only film to fuck me up a bit as an adult was Ring (Jap version, fuck that US remade bollocks). The death faces and the moment she climbs out of the TV...

I lived on my own when I saw it and I swear for a week afterwards every time I turned off the TV I kept eyeing it nervously, just in case it suddenly turned back on.

It loses its shock value if you know what's coming but when I saw it I had no idea what the film was about. Since then Jap horrow has lost it shock completely for me as it's all about creepy little girls.

I wonder if there's a fear in Japanese men for the way they have treated their women over the centuries, resulting in modern day horror films all about vengeful women.

I wouldn't mind catching the Japanese version of the Ring. Big fan of asian cinema, especially Cat III.

Funnily enough, I only saw it two days ago. I was creeped out most by the little boy that danced to Tiptoe Through the Tulips. But the Darth Maul demon was laughable.

Re: Punk ass scrilla AKA Mr. I Wish I Was A Mod

As far as Japanese horror goes, Ju-on (The Grudge) was my favourite.

Now that The Ring's been mentioned - there's a movie almost totally divorced from the novel it's based on. Koji Suzuki's Ring trilogy (Ring-Spiral-Loop) are far superior to the films, IMO.

I haven't seen The grudge might have to check it out.

Edit: As luck would have it, found the full movie on youtube.
