Homage also means showing signs of influence, you know..unless you've been hiding under a rock for a long long time. Zeppelin along with the Stones always showed massive signs of influence of the blues.

You do know there has been many cases of those law suits that you, yourself refer to? Lawsuits will never EVER take away from the legacy of any music.

The biggest farce ever though was how the Stones have full credit for "Bitter Sweet Symphony" A small loop of their song was only used on it for the song and could barley be heard...such bullshit. I feel for Ashcroft.

Let me give you some examples of rap that most of my friends listen to (or used to listen to, as it seems some rap listeners stop listening to a song after a short period of time, as they consider the song "old") and music that people in my neighborhood listen to that I absolutely hate:

All of those guys are the worst representatives of hip hop. People like Outkast, Talib Kweli, and Nas are some examples of the best of hip hop. That's like if I said rock was garbage and I used examples like Limp Bizkit and Nickelback to prove my point.

They couldn't have been as bad as Elvis.

So if I don't care for hip hop but like Outkast then I actually like hip hop. Got it.

Re: Jay Z is overrated.

Obviously can't be a racist if you have a black friend

Judging the whole hip-hop genre on guys like Wayne/Drake/Gucci/Wiz/etc is a terribly misinformed outcome. Irks me so much when people say hip-hop is garbage because all they do is rap about guns, drugs and hoes. Clearly only listened to some radio garbage and assumed every hip-hop track is the same. Don't put Jay in that group either. There's next to no similarities in their style.

judging from your sig you have a deplorable taste in music regardless. the post reinforces this judgement. physical graffiti is easily one of the greatest albums of all time, if not the GOAT. houses of the holy up there too.

Yeah thats the commercial side of the genre that non hip hop fans will see which is a shame since it does the genre no justice at all but sells like Crazy. Even seen a couple rappers like Drake who while was never at the level the likes of Pac, BIG, Em, Dre, Nas etc... lyrically he wasn't too bad when he first started out but has water himself down a great deal in order to sell more.

Edit

On the discussion of shitty rap how has this guy not been mentioned yet

I remember Back in like 07/08 the guy was pretty much hailed as the person who killed Hip Hop
