The celebrations in America about Bin Laden are embarrassing

I'm from Britain and i'm sitting here watching people waving flags around and having parties because bin ladens dead. Yeah its great he's gone and the worlds a better place but in reality its nothing to get excited about because someone else will just take his place. Your country must literally have nothing at all to celebrate what so ever. We in Britain celebrated our future King getting married to his consort which is one of the biggest events in history and it took place in the abbey where his forebearers like Edward the confessor were buried. It took place in the building where charles dickens and the greatest writers and poets in the world were buried and it took place where the tombs of william the conquerer and queen elizabeth the first were buried and still remain today. Now that is something to celebrate.

William the Conqueror lived in 1066. The world has since moved on...many many times over.

Oh and we also celebrate every July 4th. Can't forget July 4th.

I can't say I celebrated myself, however I can understand why many felt the urge to. Your right in that Al-Qaeda will still go on and that to many Osama has died a martyr, but it is still justice for all the victims of all his atrocities over the years. And justice is something worth celebrating far more than the wedding involving a Royal Family that literally has no relevence to the World anymore.

The Royal Family has every relevance in this country because its our future head of state. How many other countries in the world stage a wedding which wasnt even a state occasion and can make half of the world watch it. It has no relevance in America because you have no history your country can never do the things we can in a million years. Nobody over here has celebrated the death of Bin Laden because most would have liked to see him go on trial and go to jail for life.

Well Osama was the leader of Al-Qaeda, he was the one that made the orders I believe, nobody will be able to take his place.

They were saying this even on CNN, how no one can replace this man, no one has the power to step up and take his place.

Osama's death is huge, you guys really don't see how big of a deal this is.

Taking out Bin Laden was significant, but I'm not sure how much of an accomplishment it actually was; I dunno how much is really going to change in the world. But I do wonder what our excuse for being in Afghanistan will be now...

Re: The celebrations in America about Bin Laden are embarrassing

While I'm sure it's a moral boost to get Bin Laden, realistically it changes nothing. People are acting like "The War On Terror" is over and all the troops are home. It amazes me how few people are stopping to think about how fucked the US is now and how big the retaliation is going to be. Things are worse off now than they were when he was alive. That may seem like a really bold statement, but it's true. The threat now of an attack is far greater than it was before.

And to those who think it can't happen now because "We're prepared this time", I don't think it will matter when those freaks set off a dirty bomb in the middle of some random major city.

it really wouldn't take much planning to smuggle a bomb into america through canada. From what i've seen you could just walk across the border.
