There might not have been weapons of mass destruction but the fact is Saddam was braking UN sanctions put on Iraq. He still had weapons which went out of the boundary of what his weapons were allowed to go. Yes there is American soldiers dying everyday, but imagine how many more people would be dying if the coalition hadn't gone in. I bet there would have been many more. Bush has done a good job with the war: thats why Saddam is captured. Yeah you can argue but what about the Americans dying, that happens in war time. Your always going to get people who don't like you in countries after a dictatorship, because they have been brainwashed by those in power. The fact is Saddam is gone and many lives have been saved by catching him.

My inflamatory comment, as it was last time, will be this: anyone who thinks that Sadam Hussein was actually found in that hole by the soldiers that footage shows found him, is an ignoramus.

I'm intrigued...

no heat here, I'm genuinely interested in your thoughts on the 'hole' capture...

I find it suspicious that just after the capture, there were conflicting reports. Some claimed that it was intelligence that found him, some claimed it was a tip-off from the Iraqi people, some claimed nothing, and would have us believe that some American troops (and the ubiquitous camera crew) just stumbled upon him.

I think that the "capture" from the hole was staged. Wherever he was hiding, that wasn't it, certainly not for long, anyway. Also, seeing as Iraq was (and still is) a wartorn, dangerous place, what was a camera crew doing going somewhere that could have been dangerous?

It all seems very convenient. Seeing as how the war had little public support (aside from its questionable legality) on both sides of the Atlantic, just capturing Sadam and showing him caught wouldn't have been enough - the event itself had to be caught on film. It just strikes me as a bit of propaganda fed to a public who were increasingly losing faith in their leaders' decisions.
