! BREAKING NEWS !
~ HATTON SIGNS ON FOR SUMMERSLAM ~
In a sensational surprise, Ricky 'Hitman' Hatton was unveiled today at the Summerslam Press Conference in London, England. With a raft of WWE superstars - including the currently inactive Triple H - headed by Shane McMahon in attendance to kick off the countdown to Summerslam, Shane caused a huge stir, just as it appeared the press conference was coming to a close, introducing Hatton as the WWE's special guest at this years Summerslam. An edited down video package is likely to air on Raw this coming Monday, showing the shocking announcement.
Other News and Notes:
The signing of Ricky Hatton as a guest star at Summerslam has caused a huge stir, with details of the agreement remaining very tight lipped up until the moment of the announcement at Saturdays press conference. At this point it has already been confirmed from sources within the hierarchy that Hatton WILL NOT be competing at the event, due to contractual obligations the World Boxing Champion already has - with a meeting against Floyd Mayweather set to be announced soon - but it is expected he will be used as a Guest Referee, or Enforcer in one of the main event matches at the August 19 event.
While Hatton will be appearing on a 'one-shot' deal, the contracts of Bryan Danielson, Doug Williams and veteran performer Christopher Daniels have all been agreed. Danielson is set to join up with the company in the Autumn after completing RoH dates, whilst Williams and Daniels are likely to spend a month or two in DSW before being called up to Raw or Smackdown. It's beleived that both Danielson and Daniels have been earmarked for the rapidly improving Cruiserweight division, whilst Williams could be brought in to join William Regal. *Bookers note; Yeah, I dont care if it's a little unrealistic to bring Williams and Daniels in. It's not like they are - or even at this point were - the top stars in TNA. I've always liked both guys, and tbh, I dont know how much longer I'll be doing this, so why not 'cheat' and bring in a few guys I'd enjoy using*
It's also been confirmed that Arn Anderson WILL resume his duties as General Manager of Smackdown in September, after signing a contract extension. Anderson had been written off for the time being, due to his contract running out, and being unable to take part in the six week long World Tour.
However, one person not extending their contract is Tazz. The current colour commentator on Smackdown is set to depart the company after next Sundays Great American Bash in Philadelphia. It's expected Joey Styles and Michael Cole will be the new Smackdown announce team following that event, with Cole playing up a heel commentator role from this point forward.
Monday Night Raw Preview:
A huge night is set for the superstars of the Raw roster, as Phoenix Arizona; the home of the upcoming WrestleMania 24 plays host to a Pay Per View worthy line up, with TWO Championships on the line.
And there is no bigger prize, than the World Heavyweight Championship. Last week, it looked like Umaga was set to cash in on his Money in the Bank title shot, but after simply playing mind games with Christian, Captain Charisma was given a stark reminder of the task he faces this Monday. Kurt Angle and Mr. Kennedy will both be gunning for the champion in a triple threat match. Last week, both men got a piece of the champion - for the third time in eight days no less - but this week, it's every man for himself. And with the World Heavyweight Title in the balance, there will be NO alliances. Can Christian overcome the odds?? As ever, the champion doesnt need to be pinned to lose his title in a triple threat match, adding to the level of danger for Christian. Who will walk out of Arizona holding the gold??
Two weeks ago, MNM shocked the world by reclaiming the World Tag Team Titles from Straight Edge - only after becoming a late substitute for the incapacitated British Lions - thanks to an assist from the strange 'Entourage'. Last week, MNM revealed that their Entourage was behind the attack on the British Lions, and thanks to their two friends, scored another priceless victory; this time over John Cena and the World Champion, Christian. This week though, Straight Edge get their rematch, and with Punk and Helms surely all too aware of the impact MNM's Entourage could have, they'll be on the lookout for any outside parties. Will order be restored to the tag team titles this Monday when these two great rival teams lock up once more??
There is no title at stake between Rhyno and Rey Mysterio - just a good, old fashioned grudge. And this Monday, the grudge will be settled once and for all, in an ECW Rules contest. Rhyno has been on the warpath since his return from injury, solely targeting Rey Mysterio. The Man Beast was beaten at Vengeance, but this time, he has Mysterio in a match that suits him much better. No rules.
One man that appears to be firmly on the outside looking in now is John Cena. The former three time World Champion has drastically fallen down the pecking order since Vengeance, where he shocking submitted to Kurt Angle, and now finds himself completely out of the World Championship picture. What does the future hold for John Cena?? As a man that has become used to being part of the title picture over the last two and a half years, can Cena come to terms with the fact that he faces a long road back to where he believes he belongs - on top?? What will Cena have to say this Monday??
And whilst Cena can only look on in frustration, Umaga - with the help of Armando Estrada - will simply continue to lie in wait. Mr. Money in the Bank sent a clear message to Christian last week, that he could strike at any time. With the look of fear in the eyes of the World Champion last week, could Estrada decide that NOW is the time to cash in?? And if not this Monday ... it must surely be coming soon??
World Heavyweight Championship Match;
Christian vs Mr. Kennedy vs Kurt Angle
World Tag Team Championships Match;
MNM vs Straight Edge
Rhyno vs Rey Mysterio
Plus; Mickie James makes her in ring return to Raw!!
Not sure when I'll post Raw, but keep a lookout for it sometime during the week. Or not. Up to you really
... BUT THE MEMORY REMAINS ...
