Re: WWE: The Evolution Of Greed

After a chaotic episode of Friday Night Smackdown, General Manager Teddy Long has announced another three matches for the upcoming No Way Out pay per view.

WWE Tag Team Champions Brian Kendrick and Paul London will defend their titles against the impressive newcomers La Resistance. Since being brought back to the WWE by the sultry Maryse, Rene Dupree and Sylvain Grenier have targeted The Hooligans, assaulting the champions and gaining a victory over them during an eight man tag team match during last Friday's show. In six days time at No Way Out, the two teams will meet with the gold on the line, in what is sure to be the biggest threat to London and Kendrick during their eight month reign so far.

Also part of that eight man tag team match on Smackdown were The Extremists and The Bluebloods. Having been brought back by William Regal and Dave Taylor to help even up the numbers, Paul Burchill has looked increasingly impressive, even picking up the decisive fall during the eight man match. This Sunday, Tommy Dreamer will lead Sabu and The Sandman into battle in six man action against Regal, Taylor and Burchill in a match that is sure to test the limits of all six men involved.

And finally, after weeks of claiming he has no superior, Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms has been told to put up or shut up as he takes on nine other cruiserweights in a Cruiserweight Championship Gauntlet. Entering one after the other, all ten men will chase Helms' title, with the last man standing undoubtedly proving himself as the best cruiserweight Smackdown has to offer. The full list of competitors has been revealed, with three interesting additions. Former ECW Superstar Daivari will be making his return to action in the match, while Smackdown's Joey Mercury will look to make a mark on the division after concluding his long standing feud with Matt Hardy in recent weeks. But perhaps more important than that is that fact that No Way Out will see the debut of the much heralded Bryan Danielson, the world renowned cruiserweight who has finally completed his obligations around the world and is now ready to compete in the WWE. Could Danielson win the Cruiserweight Championship in his WWE debut? Or will Helms once again hang on to the championship he has held for over a year now?

~Monday Night Raw~
February 12th, 2007
Portland, Oregon

One week after one of the most dramatic endings to a Monday Night Raw in WWE history, the Raw Superstars roll into Portland, Oregon with all eyes pointed at the new WWE Champion.

The entire wrestling world was stunned as Shawn Michaels left Raw: Night Of Champions the WWE Champion. In the process Michaels emphatically turned his back on long-time friend Triple H, striking 'The Game' with a steel chair and then pinning Triple H to become the new champion. After weeks of claiming he wanted to bury the hatchet with his former DX colleague, Michaels sold his so called friend down the river to become champion again. What words could Michaels possibly offer to explain his actions? And what retribution will Triple H seek, especially with Wrestlemania now on the horizon?

Another man sure to be on a path of destruction is the former champion John Cena. Having been seconds away from victory last week, Cena was shocked to see that Shane McMahon and his security posse had robbed Cena of victory. A brutal assault followed, leaving the then champion helpless to stop Michaels as he claimed the title. Tonight, Cena will no doubt be out for revenge, seeking answers for Shawn Michaels, Shane and Mr. McMahon.

Having won the tag titles last week, the new champions Ric Flair and Carlito will be in non title action, taking on The Redneck Wrecking Crew. Cade and Murdoch could put themselves in line for a future title shot with a victory tonight, and no doubt the eyes of Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Hass will be on this match, as Flair and Carlito look to kick off their title reign with a bang. However, no doubt on the mind of Flair will be the health status of his long-time friend Arn Anderson. 'Double A' was subject to a vicious assault from Mr. Kennedy last Friday night on Smackdown, moments before Kennedy became the Number One Contender to the World Heavyweight Championship. Can Flair keep his focus on his partnership with Carlito? Or will the cracks start to show, allowing Cade and Murdoch to take advantage?

Many people thought CM Punk was crazy when he challenged Umaga to a match last week, especially after the dominating display Umaga gave in action against Super Crazy. Tonight, the two meet in one on one action in what could be a career defining display for Punk. Still a relative newcomer to Raw, Punk will no doubt be relishing his chance to finally end Umaga's undefeated streak. But with Umaga looking more dangerous week after week, can anybody stop 'The Samoan Bulldozer'?

Although not announced as having matches, several other superstars will no doubt have something to say on the events of last week. Rob Van Dam for one will be in great spirits after beating Bobby Lashley to become the last ever ECW Champion. Lashley on the other hand showed extreme displeasure at his defeat, coming close to threatening Maria during an interview. And what of Randy Orton? After seeing Edge walk out on him during the tag titles match and then seeing 'The Rated-R Superstar' show up on Smackdown, Orton's plan to get even with Edge may have disappeared. His young protégé Kenny Dykstra, fresh off a controversial defence of his Intercontinental Championship will no doubt be looking to impress Orton, while having agreed a to become a partnership, Johnny Nitro and Chris Masters will both be out to put their losing days behind them.

All of this, plus Victoria looks to put her defeat to Mickie James last week behind her against Candice Michelle, in what in is sure to be yet another dramatic edition of Monday Night Raw!!

Confirmed Matches:

Umaga vs. CM Punk
Non Title Match: Ric Flair and Carlito vs. The Redneck Wrecking Crew
Victoria vs. Candice Michelle
