Re: WWE: The Evolution Of Greed
~Friday Night Smackdown~
February 9th, 2007
With No Way Out now just NINE days away, tonight's Friday Night Smackdown promises to reveal much of the card for the upcoming pay per view... and could have a drastic impact on the shape of Wrestlemania XXIII!
Last week, the World Heavyweight Champion Batista was victorious in tag team competition, teaming up with Chris Benoit to see off their respective Royal Rumble opponents, Finlay and Test. Tonight, Test gets a chance at revenge as he faces Batista one on one in non title action. With Batista's opponent at No Way Out still to be decided, a win tonight could see Test fire himself to the head of the line. Will Test do the impossible by beating Batista and earning himself a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity? Or will 'The Animal' condemn Test to the Batista Bomb for the second week in a row?
Speaking of Benoit and Finlay, the hard hosed pair brawled throughout last week's main event, and were still going at it even after the bell had wrung. Benoit takes on Tatanka tonight, but he no doubt will have his mind on Finlay, meaning that the Native American Warrior could grab himself a surprise victory, adding yet another tough as nails Superstar into the fray for the United States Championship.
While many think King Booker may have a death wish for wanting a match with The Undertaker, Booker reiterated his stance last week, once again challenging 'The Deadman' to face him at No Way Out. However, with the match still to be announced, no doubt Booker will look to once again state his case for a match with The Undertaker.
Another man throwing challenges around is Mr. Kennedy, who made a very personal challenge to Ric Flair. Despite Teddy Long informing Kennedy that as Flair is a Raw Superstar, the Smackdown General Manager has no jurisdiction to force Flair into a match at No Way Out, Kennedy still went ahead and paid a visit to Arn Anderson, Flair's colleague in the legendary Four Horseman stable. Threatening Anderson, Kennedy made it clear that 'Double A' was to deliver his message to Flair. However, after Flair turned Kennedy down during Raw: Night Of Champion, moments after winning the World Tag Team Championships with Carlito, what will Kennedy's next move be?
After making a surprise appearance at Raw: Night Of Champions and coming unbelievably close to beating Kenny Dykstra for the Intercontinental Championship, Matt Hardy is back on home soil tonight. But with Matt speaking last week of his desire to take his career to the next level, will we see a renewed sense of urgency from Hardy? And what will Matt to say regarding The Miz, the man who ran down Matt's career last week, claiming that Matt's time had already came and went. And what of another Superstar, MVP, who also ran his mouth last week? Claiming that his name should be included when titles are being discussed, MVP will no doubt be looking to build on his victory over Kane last week with a few more words tonight.
Finally, La Resistance and The Bluebloods, reinforced by the arrival of Paul Burchill, will team up to face The Extremists and the WWE Tag Team Champions The Hooligans, with London and Kendrick no doubt looking to send a message to their would be challengers. Also, the Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms steps into the ring, looking to once again prove his supremacy over the Cruiserweight Division.
Don't miss all this and more as the shape of No Way Out is revealed, on Friday Night Smackdown!
