Default Re: WWE: The Platinum Era

January 29th, 2006 | American Airlines Center; Miami, Florida

We start here with a video from New Year’s Revolution. John Cena is shown surviving the chamber, in the end eliminating Carlito to retain his WWE Championship.

Joey Styles: John Cena has done it! He is the first man to now step into the Elimination Chamber as WWE Champion and walk out... still WWE Champion!

The chamber is raised as Cena holds the gold aloft for the crowd in Albany to see. A small smile comes across his face, as he looks thankful to have retained his WWE Championship. This is all put on hold though when ...

YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME!

‘The Rated R Superstar’ Edge walks out to the top of the stage, handing Vince McMahon his Money in the Bank Briefcase as the chamber is lifted. Edge walks down the ring while Cena shakes his head, seemingly in disbelief. Edge climbs into the ring, then nails Cena with a vicious Spear! Everything slows down as Edge hooks Cena’s leg and the referee makes the count, hitting the mat for a third time! Everything then speeds up to fast-forward; with Edge getting back to his feet and holding up the WWE Championship.

ON THIS DAY I SEE CLEARLY
EVERYTHING HAS COME TO LIFE
A BITTER PLACE AND A BROKEN DREAM
AND WE’LL LEAVE IT ALL, LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND

Once again, we go into fast-forward here as Edge leaves the ring and stands on top of the announce desk, holding his newly won gold high above his head. We then slow right down to an almost negative pace to see our new champion standing over our fallen champion; WWE Title raised high into the air.

LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND ...

We now cut away into the Giant Center, the night after Edge won the title.

Edge: Finally ... my name now belongs next to Bret Hart ...

Pop for Bret.

Edge: Shawn Michaels ...

Pop.

Edge: ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin ...

Major, major pop.

Edge: All of these men, they all achieved their boyhood dream of winning the WWE Champion. And now ... now I’ve done it too. Now I stand before you YOUR WWE Champion!

Heat, as we cut forward.

Edge: Play the video again!

Edge waits, though nothing happens.

Edge: Are you people deaf? I said roll the footage. ROLL THE DAMN FOOTAGE!

Edge calms down as something appears on the tron.

Edge: Thank you ... wait ... wait ... what the hell is this?

Edge notices something is wrong, as it isn’t the same video. Instead, someone is walking down a corridor. Who? Well we’re not entirely sure since all we can see is their shoes, but it’s safe to say Edge knows exactly who it is.

Edge: This isn’t my footage ... THIS IS NOT MY FOOTAGE! CUT IT AWAY! I SAID CUT IT AWAY!

The footage doesn’t stop. Instead, we continue to see the steps. Finally, the man stops, and the camera pans back to reveal ... JOHN CENA! The crowd goes nuts, as while Cena got jeered last night, someone had to shut Edge up. Cena looks the camera dead in the eye then walks past it as we start to hear ...

*MY TIME IS NOW*

We then see scenes of Cena bashing the shit through Edge, as well as disposing of Lita. Finally, we see security pull Edge off Cena as the crowd is in a frenzy.

From here we degenerate into scenes of Edge just being brutalised from Cena, keeping away from the actual brawl. We see Cena locking in the STFU on Kurt Angle, telling Edge “This is for you!” We Cena sending Edge plummeting through a table, courtesy of the F-U. And finally we see Edge smashing John Cena over the head with a steel chair, before nailing a con-chair-to and shouting “This is mine! Not yours! It’s mine and it always will be mine! YOU HEAR ME?” MINE!”

We now cut away to something entirely different, as Batista is shown holding the World Heavyweight Championship, holding it high as he poses in the corner on the second rope.

Michael Cole: We have never seen anyone as strong, as powerful as ‘The Animal’ Batista. Can anyone dethrone this man?

We now cut away to see Batista absolutely dominating MNM in a Steel Cage Match, when Mark Henry walks down the ramp with Melina. He simply pulls the door off the cage, THEN BRUTALISES BATISTA! He absolutely manhandles Batista, throwing him around the cage, leading to an MNM victory while Henry stands tall.

Michael Cole: I have never seen ‘The Animal’ like this! Mark Henry has just manhandled him! Mark Henry is ‘The World’s Strongest Man!’

We now cut away to see Henry beating Mysterio, nailing him with The World’s Strongest Splash and then The World’s Strongest Slam to pick up the win. He has his hand raised by the referee, then goes back after Rey, stomping on him a few times before lifting him up and throwing him to the outside. The crowd goes from dead silent to very loud quickly, as suddenly Batista runs down the ramp and brawls with Henry around ringside until we cut away the next week.

Batista: You wanna’ prove you’re the big man? Well I say you come out and prove it ... RIGHT NOW!

We then see more scenes of Henry and Batista brawling around, concluding with Henry motioning for the gold, Batista meanwhile holding it high.

Narrator: What is the meaning of life? Why does one live? What is there to accomplish? Do we live just to live? Or do we live to accomplish our dreams? Do we live to do what we see every time we close our eyes, every time we go to sleep? Do we live to live our dreams?

We now cut away to see pyro exploding at WrestleMania XIX.

Kurt Angle: My dream is to main event WrestleMania again.

We see Chris Benoit holding the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XX.

Chris Benoit: My dream is to main event WrestleMania again.

Triple H is shown posing at WrestleMania X8.

Triple H: My dream is to main event WrestleMania again.

We now see the crowd, on their feet in excitement.

Narrator: But at what cost does our dream come?

We see Shawn Michaels posing in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 12.

Shawn Michaels: I would do anything to main event WrestleMania again.

We cut to see Ric Flair styling and profiling his way down to the ring at WrestleMania at WrestleMania X8.

Ric Flair: I would do anything to main event WrestleMania.

Rey Mysterio is shown standing across the opposite side of the ring to Eddie Guerrero at WrestleMania 21.

Rey Mysterio: I would do anything to main event WrestleMania for the very first time.

We then see Randy Orton with a close up on his face.

Randy Orton: But what I have to do is win the Royal Rumble.

We suddenly see flashes of past eliminations at the Royal Rumble, people throwing one another over the top rope at a rapid pace, as the official Royal Rumble theme song, ‘Stricken’ plays.

Narrator: These men would do anything to main event WrestleMania, where it be for the first time or once again ... but what they have to do to achieve that dream is win the Royal Rumble.

The word ‘Rumble’ echoes in the background as we see Batista posing after his win last year. The graphic then changes, as we zoom around a massive graphic of the words ‘Royal Rumble’, with the text under it reading ‘thirty superstars, thirty dreams, one realisation!’.

Narrator: And now, RAW and SmackDown! present ... the ROYAL RUMBLE!

We now cut into the arena to see pyro exploding from the stage in every which way, causing the crowd to go absolutely bonkers! We then see many fans jumping up and down, looking very excited as we pan around the arena, before settling down at the RAW announce table with Joey Styles, Jonathan Coachman & Jerry Lawler.

Joey Styles: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Royal Rumble! Tonight, the road to WrestleMania kicks off, as we find out just who will be challenging for the World Championship come WrestleMania as thirty men compete for their dream! I am not alone here at the RAW announce table, as I am joined by my partners, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, and Jonathan Coachman.

Jerry Lawler: I’ve got goosebumps, Joey! That’s how big tonight is! We find out who, who will be going on to the main event of WrestleMania 22! I hope it’s a RAW superstar!

Jonathan Coachman: Not only that, but we also have a Women’s Championship match, and a WWE Title match!

Joey Styles: That’s right, tonight Victoria challenges Trish Stratus for the Women’s Championship, and Edge attempts to defend the title that he stole from the challenger, as he faces John Cena with the WWE Championship on the line.

Jonathan Coachman: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Joey; Edge stole nothing. He won that title fair and square. Sure, he got Cena when he was weak, but he earned the right to challenge whenever he wanted when he win the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 21.

Jerry Lawler: That he did, Coach, but will he be able to beat Cena with Cena at full health? Let’s also remember, over the past few weeks Edge has had Kurt Angle coming after him too! Will Edge be just focussed on Cena tonight?

Joey Styles: Well we’ll find that out later tonight, King, but now it’s time to head across to the SmackDown! team of Michael Cole and Tazz!

We now move across to the SmackDown! announce table to see the two men just introduced by Joey Styles.

Michael Cole: Thank you, Joey Styles, I am Michael Cole, this is my broadcast partner Tazz, and we are here at the Royal Rumble! Tonight, not only do we find out who will be challenging for gold at WrestleMania, but we also find out, who is the bigger man? Who is the better man, when Batista puts his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Mark Henry!

Tazz: That match is gonna be amazing, no doubt about that, Cole, but what about the Cruiserweight Title match too? A match which was originally meant to be Kid Kash vs Juventud is now the Cruiserweight Open! SmackDown! General Manager Teddy Long has done his best to make sure Kash gets what he deserves tonight.

Michael Cole: This is set to be a big night in more ways than one, but before we kick it off, let’s head across to our Spanish team, Hugo Savinovic and Carlos Cabrera!

The Spanish announce team talk at a rapid pace, hyping the event up themselves, before we cut to the middle of the ring to see Tony Chimel.

Tony Chimel: The following contest is the Cruiserweight Open Match, and it is for the Cruiserweight Championship of the world. The rules of this match are as follows: at all times, every man in the match is legal. Victory can be achieved by either pinfall or submission, however, there is no disqualifications or count outs. The first man to score a fall will be declared the winner and the Cruiserweight Champion of the world.

*LONDON CALLING*

The crowd gives a decent pop as the tandem of Paul London & Brian Kendrick stomp out onto the stage, before sprinting down the ramp and climbing into the ring excitedly, posing for the fans on the turnbuckle.

Michael Cole: Now Tazz, this match came about after Cruiserweight Champion Kid Kash found out his opponent tonight was scheduled to be former champion Juventud, who Kash attacked and took out just nine days ago with a sickening assault.

Tazz: That was unlike anything I’ve ever seen from Kash before, Cole, and I gotta’ say, even I, a former ECW World Champion, was sickened by Kid Kash. There’s usually a bit of a code of respect here in the cruiserweight division, but Kash went ahead and broke that.

Michael Cole: Kash didn’t just break it: he spat on it.

Tony Chimel: Introducing the challengers, first, weighing a combined weight of 369 lbs, Paul London & Brian Kendrick!

*TURN IT UP*

Speeding things along, we get another tag team entering together, as Scotty 2 Hotty & Funaki make their way out onto the top of the ramp to a fair pop. Dancing down to the ring, Scotty slaps hands with fans on one side of the ramp, while Funaki plays it up to the fans on the other.

Tazz: Well Kash has found himself put in the proverbial lion’s den by SmackDown! General Manager Teddy Long, and I gotta’ say, I like this decision from Teddy.

Michael Cole: Teddy Long wasn’t going to let Kash run rampant. He went straight to the Board of Directors, and he got special permission for this match to take place, and that, that took guts.

Tony Chimel: Weighing a combined weight of 420 lbs, Scotty 2 Hotty & Funaki!

*I’LL DO ANYTHING*

The crowd gives another respectable pop as a man who has been on a bit of a rise lately, Shannon Moore enthusiastically makes his way out to the top of the ramp, before slapping hands with the fans on the way down to the ring and joining his fellow cruiserweights.

Michael Cole: Well in the ring we’ve already got Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Scotty and Funaki, but right here, Shannon Moore is a man who has been gaining significant momentum as of late against the likes of the WWE Tag Team Champions, MNM, and last week even put in a respectable performance against ‘The World’s Strongest Man’, the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, Mark Henry.

Tazz: An’ you think if Moore can win the gold tonight, that’ll do even more to piss MNM off, who have been insistin’ that Moore is a loser ever since he beat Mercury a few weeks back on SmackDown!.

Tony Chimel: From Raleigh, North Carolina, weighing 202 lbs, Shannon Moore!

*NO SLEEP ‘TILL BROOKLYN*

A lukewarm response meets Nunzio as the former Cruiserweight Champion jumps out onto the stage, before walking down the ramp, not slapping hands with the fans, but not showing contempt towards them either.

Michael Cole: Tazz, you, Kid Kash and Nunzio were all in ECW together, and Kash and Nunzio would have to know each other pretty well, wouldn’t they?

Tazz: Yeah, Kash and Nunzio were actually buddies back in the day, but I’ve got a suspicion that’s all bein’ thrown away now.

Tony Chimel: From Little Italy, New York City, weighing 170 lbs, Nunzio!

*SLAM SMACK*

Another lukewarm response as Jamie Noble walks straight out to the ring, looking all business as usual, not caring to show too much emotion, or any at all for that matter.

Michael Cole: One man who I would not want after me in this match is Jamie Noble. Pugnacious and dangerous, if Noble goes after you, you can be damn sure you’re gonna’ be in trouble. Tazz, you’re friends with Noble; any idea what’s running through his head?

Tazz: Well I actually spoke to Jamie earlier today, and he told me that tonight he was gonna’ make Kid Kash pay, although then again, he was gonna’ make everyone pay for steppin’ in the ring with him.

Tony Chimel: From Hannover, West Virginia, weighing 202 lbs, Jamie Noble!

*MUY LOCO*

Possibly the biggest pop thus far accompanies the sound of engines running, as Super Crazy & Psichosis now ride out to the ramp on their Juan Deeres. Ditching the lawnmowers halfway down the ramp, The Mexicools (minus their leader) make their way down to the ring, looking tonight to gain redemption against Kid Kash.

Michael Cole: This will have hit no one harder than these two men, Super Crazy & Psichosis. The Mexicools aren’t just buddies on-screen; they’re inseparable off, and with Kash having put Juventud in hospital with a serious concussion they’re going to be looking to go right after the champ.

Tazz: Exactly right, Cole. The Mexicools are the best of buddies ... heck, they’re a family, and if you take out a family member, you’re gonna’ pay.

Tony Chimel: And weighing a combined weight of 405 lbs, Super Crazy & Psichosis, The Mexicools!

*KASH MONEY*

The last man to make his way out for the match is the Cruiserweight Champion, Kid Kash, who apprehensively walks down the ramp, clasping the gold around his shoulder before stopping at ringside.

Michael Cole: Kid Kash looks worried, and he has reason to be. There’s no need to cling to that title for Kash, as I’d be more worried about my safety if I were him!

Tazz: Kash is in a tough spot here. Does he worry about the title, or does he worry about his own health and safety? I dunno’ what Kash is gonna’ do, but I doubt he can do both.

Tony Chimel: Their opponent, from Johnson City, Tennessee, weighing 202 lbs, he is the Cruiserweight Champion of the world, Kid Kash!

Remaining on the outside, Kid Kash hands his title in through the ropes to the referee, as he holds it up, then calls for the bell ...

Match One ~ Cruiserweight Championship ~ Cruiserweight Open
Super Crazy vs. Psichosis vs. Paul London vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Shannon Moore vs. Jamie Noble vs. Nunzio vs. Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Funaki vs. Cruiserweight Champion Kid Kash

As the bell rings, the man of the moment, Kid Kash remains outside the ring, looking in at all of the faces that stare right back at him, waiting for him to get into the ring like a pack of hungry wolves, ready to tear him apart. Knowing he can’t possibly win if he doesn’t get in the ring, Kash slowly climbs up the steel steps and eyes his foes once more, before beginning to climb in between the ropes ... CAUSING THE CRUISERWEIGHTS TO CHARGE TOWARDS HIM! Kash, of course, instantly retreats like a scolded dog, climbing down to the floor, yelling for them to start the action without him. Shrugging his shoulders, ‘The Pitbull’ Jamie Noble, showing his attitude, has no problem doing exactly that, SMACKING Paul London right in the jaw with a big right hand. This causes the match to instantly degenerate into one giant brawl in the ring, with Noble backing London off into the corner, The Mexicools going at it with Scotty 2 Hotty & Funaki, and Nunzio working over Brian Kendrick with some hard rights. Smiling as he slinks across to the corner, Kash smiles, having seen all of the cruiserweights instantly turn one another in pursuit of his title.

London and Noble are the first to take centre stage, as London suddenly fights back, NAILING some right hands of his own, backing Noble off into the ropes before sending him off with an Irish whip and SMASHING his jaw with a dropkick on the rebound. With the first big move of the match, London looks confident as he makes the cover:

.........
.....
.....1.....
.

Nunzio drags London off the cover by the leg!

Throwing London into the corner, Nunzio begins to work him over with some BIG right hands, while in the middle of the ring Brian Kendrick now tries to capitalise on the downed Noble, SCORING with a low dropkick to the side of his head as he got to his hands and knees, before making the cover:

.........
.....
.....1.....
...

The pin is again broken up, as Scotty 2 Hotty this time grabs Kendrick by the hair and throws him from the ring!

Following Kendrick out, Scotty starts to brawl with him at ringside ... ONLY FOR BOTH MEN TO GET TAKEN DOWN WITH A BIG DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE FROM KID KASH! Smirking, Kash looks down at both downed men, before looking up into the ring and seeing Funaki charging at Jamie Noble, looking for a clothesline of his own, which Noble ducks, before charging at Funaki and catching him with a cross body block right by the ropes, sending both men hurtling out to the floor! The action continues to scatter as London and Nunzio have left the ring, leaving The Mexicools and Shannon Moore the only two remaining, as they send Moore off with a double Irish whip, then throw him over with a double Japanese arm drag on the rebound! Getting right back up, the two nod at each other, then grab a leg of Moore’s each and grapevine it, before rolling through and SLAMMING the back of his head into the mat with MAJOR whiplash! Smiling, the two get back to their feet and play it up to the crowd, before looking at a pack of cruiserweights growing on the outside in an all in brawl, with everyone except the two luchadors, the downed Moore and Kid Kash being involved.

Pointing out at the pack to a big pop, The Mexicools dash off to the ropes opposite the brawl, then rebound back towards the brawl ... AND LAUNCH THEMSELVES --- PSICHOSIS CRASHING THROUGH THE PACK WITH A SUICIDE DIVE AND SUPER CRAZY NAILING THE PACK WITH A SOMERSAULT PLANCHA! The crowd unload with a huge pop as almost all of the cruiserweights are down on the outside ... EXCEPT FOR KID KASH, WHO CLIMBS UP TO THE TOP ROPE ... MISSLE DROPKICK ON THE RISING SHANNON MOORE! Quickly looking to pick up a win with all of his opponents down, Kash hooks the leg of Moore:

.........
.....
.....1.....
.........
.....
.....2.....
...

Moore kicks out!

Kash, clearly annoyed at Moore kicking out, doesn’t give up there, hooking the other leg this time as he makes the cover:

.........
.....
.....1.....
.........
.....
.....2.....
...

Moore gets his shoulders up off the mat again!

Kash glares up at the referee for a moment, then makes a third cover, this time hooking BOTH legs:

.........
.....
.....1.....
.........
.....
.....2.....
.

KASH IS PULLED OFF THE COVER BY THE MEXICOOLS!

Looking annoyed at first, Kash goes to shoot his mouth at them ... only to then look worried as he knows that he’s put himself in the lion’s den now. Begging off, Kash slowly gets to his feet and backs away ... RIGHT INTO PAUL LONDON AND BRIAN KENDRICK! Turning around slowly, Kash sees the two of them and tries to beg off ... ONLY TO BE POUNCED UPON BY EVERY OTHER CRUISERWEIGHT IN THE MATCH BY KICKS, STOMPS AND PUNCHES! Continuing to stomp away, all of the cruiserweights have Kash down, begging off until they decide to lift him up and send him off with a double Irish whip ... before Nunzio SMASHES him with a running single leg dropkick! Kash isn’t down for long though, as he then gets right back up to his feet ... ONLY TO BE TAKEN BACK DOWN BY A SPRINGBOARD MOONSAULT FROM SHANNON MOORE! Moore quickly gets out of the way of the other cruiserweights, with The Mexicools now looking to take advantage of Kash, hitting a pair of leg drops!

Struggling back to his feet, Kash gets kicked SQUARE in the jaw with a big boot from Jamie Noble ... THEN TURNS INTO A BIG DOUBLE SUPERKICK FROM PAUL LONDON & BRIAN KENDRICK! Falling back into a position leaning against the ropes, looking almost out on his feet, the hated Cruiserweight Champion is in perfect position for Funaki, who runs at the ropes, bounces off them and SMASHES his face down into the mat with a single handed bulldog. With Kash down right in front of the ropes, all of the cruiserweights look around, before turning to Scotty 2 Hotty, who slowly steps up ... BEFORE BEGINNING TO DACE AROUND! THE CROWD, SUPPORTING HIM CHANT AS HE GOES AROUND IN A CIRCLE --- AND THEN NAILS THE WORM! Kash, obviously in a lot of pain, having taken all of the moves of the cruiserweights rolls from the ring, falling to the floor with a splat ...

... AND PAUL LONDON ROLLS UP NUNZIO:

.........
.....
...1...

Jamie Noble breaks that pin up, rolling up London:

.........
.....
...1...

Psichosis grabs Noble in a waistlock and rolls back into a pin:

.........
.....
...1...

BRIAN KENDRICK BREAKS UP THE PIN WITH A HUGE DROPKICK TO THE SIDE OF THE HEAD OF PSICHOSIS!

Getting back to his feet, Kendrick sees Super Crazy charging at him, so he ducks clothesline from him, then hits a leg lariat square in the back of the head, sending him out of the ring! Kendrick then turns and receives a kick to the midsection from Shannon Moore and attempts to whip him into the corner, only for Kendrick to reverse and send Moore into the corner, with Moore jumping up to the second rope and coming back with a cross body block attempt ... ONLY FOR KENDRICK TO NAIL A BIG DROPKICK TO THE MIDSECTION OF MOORE! Rolling from the ring in pain, Moore leaves Kendrick shouting out in the middle of the ring, before turning Jamie Noble away from Scotty 2 Hotty, kicking him in the midsection ... AND RUNNING TOWARDS THE CORNER, LOOKING FOR SLICED BREAD #2 --- BUT NOBLE THROWS KENDRICK OUT OVER THE TOP ROPE TO THE FLOOR WITH A GIANT SPLAT!

Turning around, Noble sees Scotty charging at him, looking for the bulldog, though he is able to duck ... THEN GET A TURNING SCOTTY UP IN A FIREMAN’S CARRY --- GUTBUSTER! NOBLE NAILS SCOTTY WITH A GIANT GUTBUSTER! Doubled over, Scotty is in a world of hurt ... WHEN NOBLE PLACES HIM IN BETWEEN HIS LEGS AND GETS HIM IN A DOUBLE UNDERHOOK --- TIGER BOMB!

Noble keeps Scotty in position following the move:

.........
.....
.....1.....
.........
.....
.....2.....
.........
.....
THRE – NO!

NUNZIO BREAKS UP THE PINFALL WITH THE SICILIAN SLICE!

With Noble going down in a heap, Nunzio looks to make the cover ... only to get turned around into a kick to the midsection from Paul London ... AND LONDON THEN SWEEPS THE LEGS OUT FROM UNDER NUNZIO AND HITS THE LONDON FALLING! Getting back to his feet, London sees Funaki charging at him, so he ducks a clothesline ... THEN NAILS THE DROPSAULT --- AND LANDS RIGHT ON TOP OF NUNZIO IN THE COVER:

.........
.....
.....1.....
.........
.....
.....2.....
.........
.....
THRE – NO!

PSICHOSIS BREAKS UP THE PIN WITH A LEG DROP FROM THE TOP ROPE --- BEFORE SUPER CRAZY COMES DOWN WITH A MOONSAULT! The two get back up to their feet ... AND ARE TRIPPED UP AND DRAGGED FROM THE RING BY KID KASH! Quickly sliding into the ring, Kash scrambles across to the cover on Nunzio:

.........
.....
.....1.....
.........
.....
.....2.....
.........
.....
THREE!

Winner (and still Cruiserweight Champion): Kid Kash via pinfall @ 8:01

*KASH MONEY*

Tony Chimel: Here is your winner, and still Cruiserweight Champion, Kid Kash!

The crowd boos as Kid Kash quickly rolls from the ring and starts backing up the ramp away from the cruiserweights, with the referee having to chase him down just to hand him his Cruiserweight Title. Backing up the ramp, Kash looks elated as he now stops at the top of the ramp and holds the belt up, before walking to the back.

Michael Cole: We didn’t think it was possible, but somehow, some way, Kid Kash has walked out still the Cruiserweight Champion.

Tazz: And all credit to Kash. While I don’t necessarily approve of his actions usually, Cole, the guy pulled one outta’ the hat to retain the title here. No one expected Kash to retain, but he still did it.

We look into the ring for a moment to see the multitude of disappointed cruiserweights, before now cutting backstage.

Once backstage, we see that we are in a room, with the chairman of the WWE, Mr McMahon standing in front of many of the superstars who will be competing in the Royal Rumble.

Mr McMahon: Ahem. First off, I would like to thank each and every one of you who has taken the time to stop by here tonight before this big match. Now, I know tonight is a big night for all of you ... I mean, this – this is your chance to book yourself a spot in the main event of WrestleMania! So I know that each and every one of you, you’re all going to be focussed on your goal of winning the Royal Rumble. And while I appreciate that, y’see, despite the fact that I’m obviously not competing in the Royal Rumble, I – I have my own goal too. I have something that I want to see done!

McMahon pauses as the crowd of superstars murmurs.

Mr McMahon: Now, as I’m sure many of you know, I – I have been having some troubles with one Shawn Michaels.

Again, McMahon pauses.

Mr McMahon: And y’see, while Shawn will be entering at number one – thanks to a brilliant decision from yours truly – that doesn’t guarantee a good night for me, that doesn’t guarantee that Michaels won’t win the match, because as we all know, he has won this match from spot number one before. So I – I am here to lay down a challenge to all ... of you. To each and every one of you. The challenge is simple ... eliminate ... Shawn Michaels. I don’t care about how you do it, and I don’t care how long it takes you, but if any of you are able to eliminate Shawn Michaels ... well, let’s just say there’s going to be a little bonus in your next paycheque.

Smiling, McMahon pauses as the crowd of superstars buzz.

Mr McMahon: I simply will not allow Shawn Michaels to be main eventing MY creation ... I simply won’t allow Shawn Michaels to main event ... WrestleMania. So whether it’s by hook or crook, I don’t care ... just make sure that you, YOU will be the one to make sure Shawn Michaels doesn’t main event WrestleMania. Make sure YOU are the one to crush spirit. Make sure you are the one ... to end all of his dreams.

Smiling, McMahon pauses.

Mr McMahon: Gentlemen ... good luck.

We now cut away to see Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus walking backstage, without the title that Victoria stole this past Monday night. Looking like she is headed to ringside, Stratus is suddenly stopped as Mickie James bounces into the picture.

Mickie James: Hey Trish!

Trish Stratus: Um ... hey, Mickie.

Mickie James: Listen, Trish, I know you’ve got a HUGE match against Victoria next and you wanna' get ready, but I just wanted to wish you luck before you go out there.

Trish Stratus: Uh, thanks Mickie.

Trish now walks off, Mickie watching her leave as we cut back to ringside to hear ...

*DON’T MESS WITH*

The challenger for the Women’s Championship, Victoria makes her way out to decent heat, holding the title she stole from Trish this past Monday over her shoulder, up close to her face. Victoria ignores the fans as she climbs up into the ring, Victoria doesn’t bother to pose once in the ring, but instead struggles with the referee as he snatches the title away from her.

Joey Styles: Just moments ago, we heard Mr McMahon attempt to motivate some of the superstars backstage into eliminating Shawn Michaels tonight, although since then we’ve also seen Mickie James wishing Trish luck, and now Victoria, which leads me to ask ... where are we getting these divas from? The crazy house?

Jonathan Coachman: Hey, all Mickie was doin’ was wishin’ Trish luck, and there ain’t nothin’ crazy about that, Joe. As for Victoria ... well, I’m willin’ to admit that she may be a little crazy.

Jerry Lawler: A little crazy? She won’t let the referee take the Women’s Title off her and it isn’t even hers!

Joey Styles: Well, Victoria did tell Stratus she was going to show her who was truly crazy tonight, and she promised that it wasn’t Mickie James.

Lilian Garcia: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the Women’s Champion! Introducing first the challenger, from Los Angeles, California, Victoria!

*TIME TO ROCK N’ ROLL*

The crowd gives a very nice pop for Toronto’s present to the WWE, the Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus who walks down the ramp rather quickly, looking all business tonight.

Joey Styles: Well if Trish hasn’t had enough problems as of late with her two best friends Ashley and Mickie James in their own little squabble, she now has to deal with potentially the most dangerous diva on the roster tonight in Victoria.

Jonathan Coachman: And if you ask me, Joe, Trish will be too worried about other things to be Victoria here tonight.

Joey Styles: Well it’s a good thing I didn’t ask you, ‘Coach’.

Lilian Garcia: Her opponent, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus!

Stratus now climbs up into the ring and attempts to pose for the crowd ... only for Victoria to knock her down from behind with a big forearm, kick starting this match!

Match Two ~ Women’s Championship
Victoria vs. Women’s Champion Trish Stratus

After her pre-match attack, ‘The Vicious Vixen’ Victoria STOMPS away on a prone Trish Stratus, laying her boot into the back of Stratus time and time again. The referee finally intervenes, pulling Victoria away from Stratus and telling her to let Stratus get back up. Wanting to do no such thing, Victoria steps right past the referee and hits a rising Stratus with a right hand, backing her right up into the ropes, then attempting to send her off with an Irish whip, which Stratus is able to counter, sending Victoria off. Rebounding back off the ropes, Victoria runs at her foe at full force, only for Stratus to take her over with an arm drag! Getting back to her feet quickly, Victoria looks embarrassed at the ease in which Stratus came back with, charging at her in an attempt to make amends ... but she’s taken over with a second arm drag! Getting up and charging again, Victoria looks to make up for the past two moves from Trish, however, she is again taken over with an arm drag, with Stratus this time holding onto the arm of Victoria following the move, keeping control of her!

With a look of extreme frustration on her face, the challenger, Victoria, slowly fights back up to her feet, although once she’s there Stratus continues to apply pressure to her arm, twisting it overhead and applying a wristlock. Tugging on the wrist, Stratus looks to keep Victoria sedated, however, the challenger has other ideas as she comes out with a big knee lift, DRIVING the air from the lungs of Stratus, causing her to double over. Victoria then tries to take control of the match herself, grabbing a side headlock which Stratus quickly looks to fight out of, pressing back against the ropes then springing forward, using the momentum to send Victoria off running across the ring. Bouncing back off the ropes, Victoria now has a lot of momentum going, using both it and her sheer power to knock Stratus down with ease with a shoulder tackle. Sneering down at Stratus, Victoria poses in victory for a moment, drawing some heat from the crowd, before running off to the ropes and springing back, leaping over Stratus who rolls over onto her stomach.

Now bouncing off the opposite ropes, Victoria comes at a rising Stratus ... and is taken over with a hip toss! Looking for an early victory, Stratus makes the cover:

Victoria kicks out early, showing her power!

Despite the early kickout, Stratus looks to get right back on top of Victoria, picking him up by the hair ... when Victoria shocks her with a shoulder thrust to the midsection! Taking a moment to regather herself, Victoria feels at her face, before grabbing Stratus and hurling her into the corner with an Irish whip, following her in herself ... although Stratus is able to leap up and elevate herself up and over Victoria, landing behind her and grabbing her in a waistlock, rolling back into a pinfall attempt:

Victoria powers out of the pinning predicament!

Both women get back to their feet, although Stratus is that little bit faster, allowing her to strike first with a BIG right hand, shaking Victoria. Scoring with a few more rights, Stratus is able to back Victoria up to near the corner, before changing things up and SMACKING Victoria across the chest with a huge knife edge chop, prompting the crowd to scream “WOOOO~!” as the sound of the move echoes throughout the arena. Holding her ample chest in pain, Victoria is pushed right back into the corner and her hands moved away so that Stratus can UNLOAD with a second, third, fourth and fifth knife edge chop, the flurry from Stratus sending shooting pains through the body of Victoria! Stopping for a moment, Stratus holds her hand up to the crowd, then licks it a few times, before LIGHTING the chest of Victoria up once more, the sound of which reverberates throughout the arena.

Smiling, Stratus is moved away from the corner by the referee, who has finally decided to step in, while Victoria sags down the turnbuckle and falls to a seated position. Having dealt with the referee, the voluptuous Women’s Champion moves back towards Victoria, bending over to pick her up ... WHEN VICTORIA GRABS HER BY THE TIGHTS AND PULLS HER DOWN --- SENDING HER FACE FIRST INTO THE SECOND TURNBUCKLE!

The crowd, who were full of life, are suddenly deflated by that move, as ‘King’ worries about the pretty face of Stratus on commentary. Inside the squared circle, Victoria stays in a seated position for a moment, before using the tights again to pull Stratus back onto her back and make the cover:

Stratus kicks out!

Getting back to her feet, Victoria looks unfussed about Stratus kicking out really, instead taking the time to kick at the Women’s Champion as she too attempts to ascend back to her feet. Nailing her with a kick to the midsection as soon as she gets to her feet, Victoria has Stratus doubled over, taking the opportunity to grab her by the hair and run her over to the corner, SLAMMING her pretty face down across the top turnbuckle. Victoria follows up by pushing Stratus right back into the corner and scoring with a series of HARD kicks, striking down into the midsection time and time again, finally relenting on the count of four. However, the break is only momentary for Stratus, for she begins to sag down the turnbuckle, prompting Victoria to move right back in and PRESS her boot right into the windpipe of Stratus, CHOKING the life out of her! Again, the referee restarts his count, finally getting Victoria to break away at the count of four.

Holding her hands up as if to say she’s innocent, Victoria backs away, sneering, before moving back in to scoop a rising Stratus up, and walk around the ring confidently, showing her strength. Having turned to every side of the American Airlines Arena, Victoria then SLAMS Stratus to the mat, before running off to the ropes, bouncing off them and DROPPING an elbow across the gigantic ‘pecs’ of Stratus, transitioning straight into a hook of the leg:

Straus gets her shoulders up off the mat!

Getting to her knees, the frustration of Stratus kicking out seems to creep onto the face of Victoria, although rather than arguing with the referee who she initially looks at, Victoria gets back to her feet and runs back off at the ropes, bouncing off them and NAILING a second elbow drop, before making another cover:

Stratus again lifts her shoulder up off the mat!

Pulling her hair back as she sits up, Victoria glares at the referee, telling him with a mere glance that he had better count faster, before getting back to her feet and pacing around the ring, waiting for Stratus to make a move – any move. Unaware that she was being stalked, Stratus gets to her hands and knees and begins to crawl to the ropes, only for Victoria to walk across confidently and kick her square in the side of the head, sending the Women’s Champion tumbling towards the ropes. Following up, ‘The Vicious Vixen’ grabs Stratus by the hair and THROWS her down across the second rope, PULLING AND TUGGING on her hair whilst also PUSHING her throat down across the second rope, making it damn near impossible for her the breathe. The referee, doing just about the only thing he can do, implores Victoria to break the hold, before beginning his count, causing Victoria to once again break at four. However, Victoria is yet to be done with Stratus, leaving her hanging over the second rope as she runs off across the ring, rebounds off the ropes opposite to Stratus and springs herself at Stratus, SMASHING right into the back of her neck, DRIVING the throat of Stratus down into the second rope.

As she begins to fall back in pain, Stratus is hurled over onto her back, again being covered by Victoria as she this time hooks the leg:

Stratus kicks out AGAIN!

Clearly frustrated now, Victoria shouts at the referee that it should have been three, before turning her attention back to Stratus and beginning to CHOKE her, blatantly in front of the referee! Not allowing this for long, the referee again is forced to use his count against Victoria, with Victoria breaking at four and instead moving into a more traditional method of attempting to put someone to sleep (at least in wrestling) – the sleeper hold. Leaning back, Victoria really torques the neck of Stratus, applying as much pressure as possible, causing the reigning and defending champion to begin to breathe a little heavier as she starts to lose oxygen. Keeping the pressure on, Victoria goes into overdrive as she now lies down, moving Stratus from a seated position to that of a completely grounded position right in the centre of the ring, attempting to make sure Stratus has nowhere to go. Initially Stratus kicks her legs around, flailing in the hold, although eventually she begins to die down, looking as if she is losing perhaps even too much oxygen to continue on in the match, prompting Victoria to demand the referee check on her.

Doing his job, the referee comes in and asks Stratus if she wants to quit to no response, causing him to then check if she was still conscious, lifting her hand ... AND LEAVING IT TO DROP FOR THE FIRST TIME! Victoria, happy with that result, applies even more pressure, almost smiling as she shakes Stratus around, as the referee grabs her hand for a second time ... AND IT FALLS AGAIN! The crowd buzzes, with a new Women’s Champion being a very distinct possibility right here as the referee grabs Stratus’ hand a third time ... AND IT STARTS TO FALL --- ONLY TO SURGE UP AT THE LAST MOMENT! The referee declares that Trish is still in it as she now pumps her fist up and down, prompting the Miami natives to rally behind her, beginning to clap as she fights back to a seated position, a now panicking Victoria still attached to her. Now getting to a knee, Stratus’ face shows her determination, as her usually beautiful face is scrunched up, her teeth gritted as she fights all of the way back to her feet.

Knowing the time for her is now, Stratus rears her elbow back ... AND SLAMS IT RIGHT INTO THE MIDSECTION OF VICTORIA! Jumping up in pain, Victoria struggles to keep the pressure of what is now a side headlock applied ... BAM! Victoria is struck again! Stratus, feeling she is close to escaping from the clasp of Victoria rears back a third time ... AND NAILS A THIRD ELBOW! Now thinking she has broken free, Stratus looks to run off to the ropes ... BUT VICTORIA GETS HER BY THE HAIR AND SENDS HER FLYING BACK DOWN INTO THE MAT! Smiling at the downed Stratus, Victoria raises her hands ... AND THROWS FRAGMENTS OF HAIR THAT PRESUMABLY CAME FROM STRATUS’ HEAD DOWN ON TOP OF HER TO TREMENDOUS HEAT! Happy with the reaction she’s getting, Victoria smiles, then heads across to the corner, slowly climbing up to the second rope.

Not happy just to dive onto Stratus, Victoria takes the time to mouth off to the crowd, looking out to them instead of down into the ring ... ONLY FOR TRISH TO TAKE ADVANTAGE AS SHE GETS TO HER FEET AND RUSHES TO THE CORNER --- STRATUSPHERE! TRISH TAKES VICTORIA DOWN WITH THE STRATUSPHERE! Following that big move from Stratus, both women are down, lying still as the referee starts up his count. By the count of three Trish begins to show some life though, as slowly but surely, she crawls over to the fallen body of her foe and lays her own body across Victoria’s:

VICTORIA GETS A SHOULDER UP OFF THE MAT!

Rolling off Victoria after the kickout, Stratus takes a moment to regather herself, before she gradually gets back to her feet, Victoria meanwhile doing the same. With both women now up, the two stagger around, both groggy ... until Trish shrugs it off and STRIKES with a HUGE right hand, staggering the groggy Victoria even further. Victoria, not one to take punishment without giving it back staggers forward ... then SMASHES Trish with a right of her own! Trish, reeling after the right from Victoria, takes a moment to regain her senses ... BAM! SHE WINDS UP AND HITS VICTORIA BIG TIME! Victoria looks to instantly retaliate ... BUT TRISH WILL HAVE NONE OF IT AS SHE BLOCKS, BEFORE UNLOADING WITH A FLURRY OF RIGHT FOREARMS AND CHOPS, SENDING VICTORIA STAGGERING BACK INTO THE ROPES! Following up, Stratus quickly sends Victoria off with an Irish whip ... then catches her with a Thesz press on the rebound, before UNLOADING upon her with rights from the mount position!

After rolling off once the referee’s count reaches three, Stratus gets right back up to her feet and waits on Victoria to do so ... AND GOING FOR THE CHICK KICK --- BUT VICTORIA DUCKS IT AND CATCHES THE LEG OF STRATUS --- ONLY FOR STRATUS TO REACH HER OTHER LEG UP AND TRAP THE NECK OF VICTORIA AND SPIN AROUND --- HEADSCISSORS TAKEDOWN! The crowd goes nuts as Trish takes Victoria down momentarily, with Vickie getting right back up ... SPINEBUSTER! After that big move, Trish instantly looks to take advantage, making the cover:

VICTORIA AGAIN MANAGES TO MUSTER UP THE POWER TO KICK OUT!

Looking frustrated as she gets back to her feet, Trish begins to stalk Victoria, waiting on her to get up, which she slowly does ... TRISH GOES FOR THE CHICK KICK AGAIN --- AND VICTORIA AGAIN DUCKS IT --- BUT THIS TIME INSTANTLY THROWS HER UP ONTO HER SHOULDERS AND HITS A SPINNING SIDEWALK SLAM! One would think that there would be a fair chance that the match would be over after that big move, however, Victoria must not be thinking along the same wavelength as she gets back to her feet, looking down at Stratus before giving her back to her, bending over and shaking her booty ... VICTORIA SCORES WITH A STANDING MOONSAULT! Coming off that big move, Victoria now hooks the leg of Stratus, confident she has the victory:

THE CROWD POPS BIG AS STRATUS SOMEHOW – SOMEHOW MANAGES TO LIFT HER SHOULDER OFF THE MAT!

Victoria, with a look that borders on mental, sits up, pulling her hair back, before looking around wildly ... and suddenly rolling from the ring! Going around to ringside, Victoria yells at Lilian to hand her the Women’s Title, which Lilian does in fear of he own safety, with Victoria snatching the gold ... AND THEN SLIDING BACK INSIDE THE RING! Looking at Stratus trying to crawl to the ropes, Victoria stands perched over her, holding the Women’s Championship, the referee warning her she will be disqualified if she uses it ... when the crowd begins to pop ... AS MICKIE JAMES IS SHOWN RUNNING DOWN THE RAMP! Climbing up onto the apron, Mickie tells Victoria to put the gold down for some reason, yelling at her not to do it. Was she looking out for Trish’s safety?

Pulling herself to the ropes in front of Mickie, Trish gets back to her feet as Mickie continues to beg Victoria off ... ONLY FOR VICTORIA TO CHARGE AT A TURNING TRISH AND GO FOR THE SHOT WITH THE GOLD --- BUT TRISH DUCKS --- AND VICTORIA ALMOST CREAMS MICKIE, ONLY TO STOP IN THE NICK OF TIME!

Victoria now turns around ... AND TRISH AGAIN ATTEMPTS THE CHICK KICK --- BUT VICTORIA AGAIN DUCKS --- AND TRISH CREAMS MICKIE! TRISH SENDS MICKIE FALLING OFF THE APRON DOWN TO THE FLOOR WITH A SPLAT! A look of horror cross the face of Trish as she instantly realises what she’s done, as she bends between the ropes and asks Mickie if she’s okay to no response, as Mickie is kind of in a lot of pain. As she continues to check on her friend, Trish seems to forget about the match that is in progress, leaving the referee to tell her she’ll have to get back into the ring, which she does ... TURNING RIGHT INTO A KICK TO THE MIDSECTION --- VICTORIA SETS UP FOR THE WIDOW’S PEAR AND HOISTS TRISH UP --- BUT TRISH ROLLS THROUGH INTO A SUNSET FLIP:

Hurriedly getting back to their feet, both divas look to press for the advantage ... CHICK KICK! TRISH FINALLY SCORES WITH THE CHICK KICK OUT OF NOWHERE! Winner (and still Women’s Champion): Trish Stratus via pinfall @ 14:46

*TIME TO ROCK N’ ROLL*

Lilian Garcia: Here is your winner, and still WWE Women’s Champion, Trish Stratus!

Stratus gets back to her feet and is immediately handed the Women’s Title by the referee, which she looks into, before her hand is raised by ... Mickie James? Mickie has seemingly recovered from the Chick Kick and climbed into the ring to raise Trish’s hand in victory.

Joey Styles: Trish Stratus – still, WWE Women’s Champion, but again, this little saga between Trish Stratus and Mickie James continues. Mickie, who for one reason or another, made her way down to ringside during the match, perhaps to stop Victoria using the Women’s Title as a weapon against Trish, was Chick Kicked – in what seemed like an accident by Stratus – yet after the match, she joins her in celebration without being angry at all? Something doesn’t quite add up there.

Jonathan Coachman: You’re damn right somethin’ doesn’t quite add up there, Joe, and that’s the fact that Victoria isn’t the Women’s Champion right now. If Mickie James hadn’t stuck her nose in business that wasn’t hers in the first place, she wouldn’t have been Chick Kicked, and more importantly, Victoria would have the gold that she deserves.

Jerry Lawler: I wouldn’t say Victoria deserves the title, but Mickie was some sort of factor in this match. Whether she was trying to help Trish or hinder her, I really don’t know.

Joey Styles: I don’t think anyone knows what Mickie is ever thinking, ‘King’. As good ol’ ‘J.R’ would say, she’s crazier than a pet goon.

After seeing Trish and Mickie again, we now cut off backstage to once again see Mr McMahon in the very same room we saw him in earlier, this time talking on his cell phone.

Mr McMahon: So you’re all set for tonight? ... Great, I’ve got it all planned out ...

???: Ahem.

The camera now zooms out as we see Triple H now, gaining a huge reaction of mostly heat.

Mr McMahon: Hang on, I’ll call you back.

Vince shuts his phone.

Triple H: You wanted to see me, Vince?

Mr McMahon: Why yes, yes I did, but I would prefer if you called me Mr ... McMahon.

Triple H: What do you want, Vince?

Vince looks a little taken aback, although he decides to ignore Tripper calling him Vince again.

Mr McMahon: Well, Triple H, as I’m sure you heard earlier, I had a little meeting between me and selected superstars from the Royal Rumble, and while you were invited, I didn’t actually see you there ...

Triple H: Right, because I wasn’t there. Go on ...

Mr McMahon: Okay, now I know that thanks to your little deal with Eric Bischoff from a few weeks ago, you already know what number it is you’ll be entering at tonight, and I know that you want to win the Rumble yourself, but I was wondering if there was a little something you could do for me.

Triple H: You want me to eliminate Shawn?

Mr McMahon: Well, yes, actually. Now I know that he’s going to be the first man out there, but say, by some divine intervention from that God that he’s worshipping these days, that he’s still in the Royal Rumble, I want you to personally take care of him ... for me. What do you say?

A pause, as Triple H seems to mull it over.

Triple H: Alright, I think I get what you’re saying. You want me, to go out there tonight, and focus on doing something for you – for absolutely no reason mind you – and you want me to lose focus on what I want?

Gulping, Vince seems very nervous.

Triple H: You’ve got yourself a deal.

Vince looks genuinely surprised as he smiles a big ol’ jolly smile.

Triple H: But I’m not doing this for you ... I’m doing it for me. Because, y’see, if Shawn Michaels is still in the match when I come in, it’s inevitable that I’m going to eliminate him on my way to winning the Royal Rumble. But while we’re at it, how about you do me a favour too? Tell your little lackeys to stay out of my way tonight ... or else.

Triple H sneers at Vince, before walking out of view as we cut away to see the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista walking along backstage.

Michael Cole: We may well have just seen Triple H make a deal with the devil himself, but Tazz, up next it’s the World Heavyweight Title on the line, as ‘The Animal’ Batista defends the title against ‘The World’s Strongest Man’, Mark Henry.

Tazz: I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for a title match either, Cole. These two have been chewin’ at the bit to get to one another, and now, it finally goes down.

Michael Cole: Could we see an end to Batista’s ten month reign as World Heavyweight Champion? That is what we’re about to find out.

With that we now cut away to see the video recapping the feud of Mark Henry and Batista, which also featured at the beginning of the show. It shows Mark Henry making his return to SmackDown! with an immediate impact, manhandling the previously untouchable Batista, before we see Batista calling Henry out and the monsters brawling to close the video. From there we cut to ringside to see Tony Chimel standing in the centre of the ring as the bell sounds.

Tony Chimel: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the World Heavyweight Championship!

*SOME BODIES GONNA’ GET IT*

The crowd reacts with some very nice heat as Mark Henry walks out onto the stage, looking all business as always, beating his chest, causing sweat to fly everywhere as he walks down the ramp, before climbing into the ring.

Michael Cole: Since his return to Friday Night SmackDown!, this man, ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ Mark Henry has had the ultimate impact, doing what we thought no man could do in manhandling ‘The Animal’ Batista. Henry declared that it was nothing personal and that he was just doing what he had to do to get a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship that he believes should be his. Tonight he gets that chance. Tazz, will we see a new World Heavyweight Champion?

Tazz: We could well see new champion, Cole. Remember, Mark Henry did say that this business between him and Batista wasn’t personal, but he also said he’d end Batista’s career if he had to in order to become World Heavyweight Champion. Batista’s in a very dangerous spot here.

Tony Chimel: Introducing the challenger, from Silsbee, Texas, weighing 386 lbs, ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ Mark Henry!

*I WALK ALONE*

The Miami natives go nuts as the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista runs out onto the stage and plays it up to the crowd, before walking to the top of the ramp and setting off his pyro, keeping his eyes firmly on Henry in the ring as he does so. Batista, a look of steely resolve in his eyes, then walks down the ramp and climbs into the ring, before posing in the corner for the crowd with his gold, his eyes still planted on Mark Henry.

Michael Cole: Listen to this reaction from the crowd! Batista said this past Friday night that he’s glad Mark Henry is finished with the games, because tonight, he plans on finishing Henry off, just like every other challenger before Henry. ‘The Animal’ seems confident; is that confidence justified?

Tazz: Well in my opinion, Cole, it is. I mean, Batista has been World Heavyweight Champion for ten months now, so he knows a little about holdin’ onto the gold. There’s no doubt that tonight is his biggest challenge and that he may well be losin’ the belt tonight, but as far as I’m concerned, Batista has earned his confidence.

Tony Chimel: His opponent, from Washington DC, weighing 295 lbs, he is the World Heavyweight Champion, ‘The Animal’ Batista!

Match Three ~ World Heavyweight Championship:
Mark Henry vs. World Heavyweight Champion Batista

As the sound of the bell ringing continues to reverberate throughout the building, these two men, two monsters, two behemoths stand at opposing corners. Mark Henry, the challenger, smiles away, exuding confidence, whilst ‘The Animal’ Batista, the champion, looks as focussed as ever, taking Henry’s challenge as serious as all of those that came before him. Slowly coming forward, the two behemoths continue to show different states of mind, Henry talking trash to Batista, while Batista looks on at Henry, almost emotionless for a moment ... before cracking into a smile? Henry appears to be taken off guard by this, getting in Batista’s face, only for Batista to flex his massive muscles right back in Henry’s face! Clearly frustrated, Henry tells Batista to bring it on as the two bulls prime for battle, before locking horns with a huge lockup. Both men, wanting to prove that he is the bigger and better man, struggle greatly, trying to push the other back, only for neither man to budge. Eventually, Henry is able to start to force Batista back a few steps, laughing as he does so ... only for Batista to come out with a sudden burst of strength and MANHANDLE Henry all of the way back to the corner!

Adhering to the referee’s request for a clean break, a now confident Batista backs away, then again flexes his gigantic muscles to a big pop from the crowd. An enraged Henry STORMS out of the corner and engages in a second lockup with Dave, pushing him back a bit ... only for Batista to FORCE Henry back to the corner again! Much like the first time, Batista allows for a clean break, moving back and smiling this time, prompting Henry to charge forward a third time, again beginning to push Batista back, only for Batista to turn the tables ... but Henry saw it coming, cutting Batista off by DRIVING his massive knee up into the midsection of Batista. Doubling over and gasping for air, Batista is then CLUBBED in the back by Henry with his monstrous forearm, before Henry grabs Batista by the head and CRACKS his own head off Batista’s with a big headbutt that sends Batista staggering back all of the way to the corner.

An angered Henry, now looking dead serious, moves in after Big Dave and pushes him right back into the corner, taking a few shots at the midsection with some kicks. Henry then walks back a few steps, measures his foe and charges back in ... only to run FACE-FIRST into the boot of Batista. Staggering back, Henry is further dazed as Batista absolutely peppers his face with some BIG right hands, before pushing Henry back into the ropes and going for an Irish whip which Henry is able to reverse, instead sending Batista running off. Springing back off the ropes, the World Heavyweight Champion gains as much momentum as he can before CRASHING into Mark Henry with a big should block ... only for both men to stay standing! Henry, smiling and nodding his head, tells Batista to run off to the ropes and try again, telling him he has no hope of taking him down. Batista, nodding his head and saying “Oh yeah?” runs off to the ropes and again, bounces back with as much momentum as possible, goes for the takedown ... only for Henry to stand right through it! Henry, showing off his power, beats his chest in an animalistic manner, proclaiming himself to be the man.

Batista, not wanting to be outdone, tells Henry it’s his turn then, telling him to try to knock him off his feet. A confident Henry, laughing away initially, turns serious and runs at the ropes, springing back to go for the shoulder block ... only for Batista to this time stand through it! Smiling, Big Dave tells Henry to try again, if he wants. Henry, complying with Batista’s request, runs off the ropes, bounces back ... then NAILS Batista with a big clothesline to some massive heat! Screaming out to the crowd, Henry beats his chest, before turning back to see Batista getting back to his feet and grabbing him around the head, DRILLING him with a HUGE headbutt. The once confident Batista is now reeling, staggering back to the corner, with big Mark Henry following him in, before WHALING on him with his frying pan like MASSIVE right hands, smashing the head of Batista in. The referee gets to the count of four, with Henry still trying to knock Batista out, prompting him to get involved, getting right up to Henry and telling him to back away, warning him that he will be disqualified.

‘The World’s Strongest Man’ moves back for a moment as Batista sags down the corner to a seated position, prompting Henry to come back in and now STOMP away at the chest of his fallen foe, the referee again starting up his count. This time when the referee gets to four, Henry listens, stopping the stomps, although not relenting as he now BURIES his boot into the throat of Batista, choking him with ALL of his 400 plus lbs behind the move. Gasping for air, Batista finally is able to breathe again once Henry backs off, again at the count of four. Not leaving his opponent too much room to breathe, Henry goes right back in and lifts Batista up by the head, dragging him across against the ropes before NAILING another big headbutt, then sending the wounded ‘Animal’ off with an Irish whip. Springing back off the ropes, Batista runs straight into the GIGANTIC, tree trunk like arm of ‘The World’s Strongest Man’, taking him down with a big clothesline. Henry then peers down at Big Dave with a smile, knowing he’s on top as he drops his elbow down across the chest of Batista, caving it in, before going for the cover:

Batista kicks out!

Henry, clearly annoyed that Batista kicked out, gets to his knees and confirms with the referee that it was just two, before grabbing Batista around the head and getting back to his feet, dragging Batista across to the corner with him and SLAMMING his head down into the top turnbuckle, the steel only being covered with a thin padding. Henry then pushes Batista right back into the corner and starts to UNLOAD with some heavy should thrusts, driving his gargantuan shoulder into the ribs of the World Heavyweight Champion time and time again, driving the air from his body. Just like earlier, Henry backs away at the count of four, at which point Batista starts to come from the corner, so Henry sends him staggering back into it with YET ANOTHER headbutt, causing Big Dave to be very groggy. Now moving in after him, Henry lifts Batista up the corner, seating him on the top rope, before turning around and telling the audience that he is about to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Moving back in, Henry looks to approach ‘The Animal’ ... only for Batista to come out with a kick to the face out of NOWHERE! Henry, staggering back at first, shakes off the effects then briskly walks back in ... to receive a second kick! Clearly annoyed, Henry goes back a third time, although this time Batista puts as much power behind it as he can, causing Henry to stagger back and fall to a knee in the middle of the ring! Tending to his face, Henry feels at his nose, before slowly getting back to his feet, initially giving his back to Batista, only to then turn ... AND BE TAKEN DOWN WITH A HUGE FLYING SHOULDER TACKLE FROM THE SECOND ROPE!

The crowd pops big as both behemoths are down, Batista feeling the effects of Henry’s earlier onslaught, while Henry feels the effects of the revival of Big Dave. Slowly, both men begin to stir, Batista the first to get to a knee and then all of the way back to his feet, turning to see Henry still at just one knee. Seeing an opening to attack, Batista runs at the ropes to pick up momentum, then springs back ... BOOM! MARK HENRY JUST RUNS STRAIGHT THROUGH BATISTA, PUTTING ALL OF HIS 400 LB FRAME INTO PLAY!

The crowd, who had began to buzz, are now instantly deflated with that one move, while the perpetrator of the move, Mark Henry, staggers over to the ropes for a moment, leaning over them before coming back and making the cover:

Batista gets his shoulder off the mat again!

Clearly frustrated by this, an enraged Mark Henry sits up for a moment, before moving right back in and just out and out choking Batista, right in front of the referee! The referee of course begins to count, with Henry yet again breaking on four, before getting back to his feet and lifting Batista up with him, picking him up and RAMMING him all of the way back into the corner. Henry moves back, still holding Batista up, then rams him into the corner again before dragging Batista away and beginning to SQUEEZE him, applying a bear hug. Applying as much pressure as possible, Henry grits his teeth tenaciously, while Batista cries out in agony, perhaps now a wounded animal. Continuing to amp up the pressure, Henry tries to get in the mind of Batista, shouting “Am I just like all the others now? HUH, AM I?” With this showing of intensity, Henry proves his moniker of being ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ as he matches his words with his physicality, suddenly beginning to shake Batista violently, practically RAGDOLLING him!

Despite coming under constant questioning from the referee, the champion refuses to submit to the pain, fighting through, his face a mask of agonising pain. Going back to the earlier strategy, Henry now stops shaking Batista and just concentrates on applying as much pressure as possible, pressing his gigantic biceps right THROUGH the ribcage of Batista. ‘The Animal’ still won’t quit though, instead raising his hand and getting the crowd to start to rally behind him, making a lot of noise for the big man. With this support behind him Batista’s expression changes; his eyes now showing his steely resolve as he starts to roar, trying to break through the grasp of Henry. Realising he’s going to have to weaken his challenger to accomplish this feat, Batista comes out with a big right hand, HAMMERING Henry to a large pop from the crowd. Striking again, ‘The Animal’ can suddenly feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins ... prompting him to UNLOAD with a FLURRY of right hands!

The crowd goes bonkers as Batista looks to almost have broken out of the hold ... only for Henry to lift him up ... then RAM him back into the corner. Coming away from the corner and leaving a reeling Batista, Henry checks his facial features to make sure all are intact, before turning back to Batista, laughing evilly and charging in ... BUT NOBODY IS HOME, LEAVING HENRY TO RUN CHEST FIRST INTO THE TURNBUCKLE! Henry staggers back, holding his chest, clearly feeling the pain, before turning ... AND BEING TAKEN OUT WITH AN ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE SPEAR FROM BATISTA!

The crowd pops big after that important move from Batista; however, Big Dave is unable to capitalise as he, along with his foe, lie on the mat, exhausted and in a great deal of pain. Even with the referee starting up his count, neither man moves at all until the count of three, at which point both Batista and Henry begin to stir. Henry initially heads towards the ropes, wanting to get back to his feet as soon as possible, while Batista is more concerned about his physical wellbeing, holding at his ribs and checking his face before beginning to roll towards the ropes himself.

With Big Dave still pulling himself up with the ropes, ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ is the first back to his feet, smiling as he approaches a now turning Batista, before throwing a right hand at him ... which Batista catches, then BOUNCES a right of his own off the big skull of Henry. Firing away, Batista comes out with an ONSLAUGHT of right hands which stagger Henry ... only for Henry to score with a knee lift, DRIVING the air from Batista. Smiling, Henry looks down at Batista, again looking confident ... ALTHOUGH HIS CONFIDENCE IS PROVEN TO BE UNFOUNDED AS BATISTA SUDDENLY RAMS HIM BACK INTO THE CORNER! Unloading, Batista scores with a quick succession of shoulder thrusts to the midsection of Mark Henry, before backing away and charging in ... CORNER CLOTHESLINE! With Henry now on the back foot, Batista looks to follow up, Irish whipping Henry off to the opposite corner, then charging off and scoring with a MASSIVE corner clothesline! Staggering out from the corner, Henry finds himself headed right for Big Dave, who kicks him in the midsection ... THEN PUTS HIM IN POSITION FOR THE BATISTA BOMB --- BUT HENRY COUNTERS WITH A BACK BODY DROP!

Staggering after coming out with the move, Henry takes a moment to recover, before charging off to the ropes, bouncing back off them ... AND BEING CAUGHT WITH AN ABSOLUTELY GARGANTUAN SPINEBUSTER, SHAKING BOTH THE RING AND THE ARENA TO ITS CORE! Breathing almost a sigh of relief, Batista lays his body across that of Henry’s, making the cover:

HENRY KICKS OUT!

Both Big Dave and the crowd are in shock, as Batista, eyes popping out of his head, asks the referee, only for the referee to confirm his fears as a reality. Mark Henry had indeed kicked out from his spinebuster. Getting back to his feet, Batista looks unsure as to what to do, walking around the ring before Henry begins to stir, slowly starting to get back to his feet. Receiving a kick to the midsection for his troubles, Henry is then put in a front face lock as ‘The Animal’ attempts to get Henry up for a suplex a few times, albeit unsuccessfully. Unrelenting in his determination, Batista continues to try to get Batista over ... ONLY FOR MARK HENRY TO SUDDENLY LIFT BATISTA UP, THEN JUST DROP HIM DOWN TO THE CANVAS HARD, FACE AND RIB FIRST! Both the crowd and Batista let out a collective groan, with Henry taking the time to regain his senses while Batista tries to fight back to his feet.

Realising the opportunity that has presented itself, Henry begins to stalk Batista as he starts to stir ... ONLY TO LOSE HIS PATIENCE AND PICK BATISTA UP HIMSELF, SCOOPING HIM UP --- WORLD’S STRONGEST SLAM --- CONNECTS! HENRY SLAMS BATISTA ALMOST THROUGH THE MAT! Staying down with Big Dave, Henry makes the cover, perhaps just three seconds from being world champion:

BATISTA KICKS OUT FROM THE WORLD’S STRONGEST SLAM!

The crowd explodes, euphoria taking over the arena for a moment, as Henry looks up in the referee, much like Batista did after Henry kicked out from the spinebuster. However, unlike Batista, the shock of Henry starts to turn to anger, to rage. Climbing on top of Batista, Henry gets himself in a mount position and suddenly begins to just HAMMER BATISTA’S SKULL IN, TAKING SHOT AFTER SHOT! The referee, doing the only thing he can do, starts his count, with Henry getting off Batista at four, only to pick Big Dave up and ragdoll him back to the corner, then start to kick away WILDLY at the midsection of Batista! With Batista reeling, Henry grabs him by the chin and gets in his face, shouting “YOU WANNA’ EMBARRASS ME? YOU THINK YOU’RE A BIG MAN? HOW BIG ARE YOU NOW?”

Continuing to rage, Henry now goes back to CAVING BATISTA’S SKULL IN, SMASHING HIM WITH RIGHT AFTER RIGHT! The referee again starts his count, getting to four, ONLY FOR HENRY TO IGNORE HIM! In an attempt to restore order to the match, the referee tries to get in between the two behemoths ... BAM! HENRY SENDS THE REFEREE DOWN TO HIS HANDS AND KNEES WITH A BIG BACKHAND!

Continuing his onslaught, Henry goes back to whaling on Batista ... WHEN THE BELL RINGS! THE REFEREE HAS GOTTEN TO HIS FEET, HOLDING HIS HEAD, AND CALLED FOR THE DQ!

Winner (and still World Heavyweight Champion) ~ Batista via disqualification @ 13:54

Turning around, Henry cannot believe that the referee has called for the bell, his eyes popping out of his head ... AND HIS RIGHT ARM GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH THE NECK OF THE REFEREE AS HE SENDS HIM DOWN WITH A HUGE CLOTHESLINE! Turning back to Batista, Henry grabs the fallen ‘Animal’ by the head, HURLING him through the ropes and out to the floor, with Batista’s body crashing with a huge splat! Climbing out after him, Henry’s rage has not subsided; in fact, if anything, he has gotten angrier as he lifts Batista off the mat by the head ... THEN RUNS HIM ACROSS RINGSIDE AND THROWS HIM HEADFIRST INTO THE RINGPOST!

Breathing heavily, Henry slowly bends down and picks Batista’s head up off the mat, showing him to be heavily
BLEEDING from the forehead! Lifting him right away from the mat, Henry pulls Batista away from a pool of his own blood, before pulling him around ringside AND IRISH WHIPPING HIM OFF INTO THE STEEL STEPS WITH A HUGE CRASH! Continuing to breathe heavily, Henry looks down at Batista, THEN HEAD ACROSS TO THE SPANISH ANNOUNCE TABLE! Yelling at poor Carlos and Hugo to get going, Henry throws the plastic cover off the table, then TEARS the monitors from their positions.

Having cleared the table, Henry then head to the SmackDown! table and shouts for Cole and Tazz to beat it too, before hurling the plastic cover of that table flying too. With his renovations of the announce tables complete, Henry goes back after the World Heavyweight Champion, lifting the incapacitated champion back to his feet, before headbutting him, sending him staggering towards the announce table ... AND LEAVING THE BLOOD OF ‘THE ANIMAL’ ACROSS THE FOREHEAD OF MARK HENRY! Hitting a few right hands to follow up, Henry sends Batista staggering all of the way back to the Spanish announce table, before laying him down across it and shouting “YOU WANT THIS TO BE PERSONAL? HUH, DO YA’, DAVE? YOU WANT ME MAD? YOU’VE GOT IT!”

Now leaving Batista across the table, Henry heads back across to the SmackDown! table ... BEFORE CLIMBING UP IT! As the crowd unloads with ungodly heat, Henry ignores it all, zoning in on Big Dave and Big Dave only, before running across the announce table ... AND CRUSHING DAVE BATISTA WITH A SICKENING WORLD’S STRONGEST SPLASH!

The table and Batista are both now broken in half, both under the gargantuan body of ‘The World’s Strongest Man’, Mark Henry. Getting back to his feet slowly, Henry peers down at the broken Batista, paramedics rushing around him, before raising his arms in the air, perhaps believing that he was the winner in the end anyway.

Michael Cole: This ... this is sick. Batista has been left a broken and bloody mess by Mark Henry, and why? Because he couldn’t finish Batista off? Because he couldn’t win the World Heavyweight Championship? Disgusting.

Tazz: Actually Cole, I think Henry just wanted to make a message here. Batista may have been able to kick out of ‘The World’s Strongest Slam’, but now he ain’t gettin’ up at all.

Michael Cole: Mark Henry said two nights ago that this thing between him and Batista wasn’t personal. Well it just got personal, folks.

We see the paramedics continuing to tend to Batista, before cutting away.

We now cut backstage to see Todd Grisham standing by in the interview area.

Todd Grisham: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, he is ‘The Heartbreak Kid’, Shawn Michaels!

The crowd pops as Shawn Michaels steps into view.

Todd Grisham: Shawn, going into tonight we already knew that you would be the very first entrant in the Royal Rumble Match. However, tonight we have also learned that Mr McMahon has been rallying superstars to try to eliminate you to make sure that tonight you will not be winning the Royal Rumble, even going as far as to talk to your old friend, and now enemy, ‘The Game’ Triple H. Shawn, I’ve gotta’ ask you, knowing all of this, how much of a chance do you think you really are tonight?

Shawn Michaels: Todd, I’d be lyin’ if I said I thought the odds were in my favour. I mean, tonight, I enter the Royal Rumble at number one, with twenty-nine other superstars to follow me out, and here I am, with this target on my chest. When those twenty-nine other superstars come out, they’re not just gonna’ be lookin’ to win for themselves, oh no, no, no! Each and every one of them, they’re gonna’ run down to the ring, they’re gonna’ slide in, and they’re gonna’ turn right around ... to me. They’re gonna’ turn, and they’re gonna’ say to me, “Shawn, this is for Mr McMahon” because we all know that ol’ Vince, he’s playin’ them all like a bunch of puppets, whether they be a curtain jerker like Rene Dupree or a ten time world champion like Triple H. There ain’t no doubtin’ that tonight ... well, let’s just say it’s gonna’ be a rough night for good ol’ ‘Aitch Bee Kay’.

Shawn pauses.

Shawn Michaels: But y’know, what’s relly buggin’ me is that over the past month, I’ve been hearin’ the same thing, with people only sayin’ it more over the past week. Y’see, I keep havin’ these people walk up to me, and each and every one of them tells me the same thing. I’ve been hearin’ people tellin’ me “Shawn, just give up. You can’t win. You can’t beat Vincent Kennedy McMahon.” But y’see what these people don’t realise is that, I’m not doin’ anything to beat Vince. Oh no, y’see, I never picked to go after Vince. I don’t even have a real problem with Vince. Vince picked to go after ME. Vince has a problem with ME. So just like every other week has been for the past month, tonight – tonight is not about rebelling against Vince’s power, it’s not about beatin’ Vince at his own game. No, tonight is about ME, proving once again that I belong in the main event of WrestleMania. Tonight is about ME, doin’ all that I can to prove that I am still the best this industry has ever seen, and tonight is about me once again stealin’ the show.

A slight smile crosses the face of Michaels as he briefly pauses.

Shawn Michaels: Tonight, I’ve got twenty-nine other superstars gunnin’ after me at the command of Vincent Kennedy McMahon, but y’know what ... I couldn’t give a damn. Tonight, when I step out into the ring, I don’t worry about what Bill, Dick and Larry are gonna’ do to me because they got offered a little extra scratch by the boss. No, tonight when I step out into those bright lights in the middle of the ring, I prove once again just why it is that I am ‘The Showstappah’, ‘The Main Event’, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels! Vince, you’ve got yourself an army, well y’know what, I say bring ‘em on, because tonight, Vince, I’m locked, I’m loaded and I’m damn sure ready to fire. So sit back, Vince, and watch me go out there tonight and prove both you and all of the doubters wrong when I run through your twenty-nine man army like they were just a buncha’ boy scouts! Tonight, Vince, when I climb into that ring, I’m not gonna’ be thinkin’ about you ... I’m gonna’ be thinkin’ about me, and how good my name’s gonna’ look headlinin’ WrestleMania!

And with that, Michaels smiles, then starts to walk off, only to poke his head back in.

Shawn Michaels: Oh and Vince, if ya’ not done with that, I got two words for ya’!

The crowd shout “SUCK IT~!” as Michaels this time leaves the interview set, while we cut back to ringside.

Joey Styles: Ladies and gentlemen, we have just seen Batista, taken away by paramedics after that sickening assault at the hands of ‘The World’s Strongest Man’. However, we now have to move on, and what a way to move on, as right here, from RAW, we have the WWE Title on the line.

Jonathan Coachman: That’s right, Joe. The WWE Champion, Edge defends the title against the former champion, John Cena, and believe me when I say, my man Edge is leavin’ Miami tonight, still WWE Champion.

Jerry Lawler: Well that remains to be seen, ‘Coach’, but what we will see is just what has happened between Cena and Edge, and how Edge became champion.

Much like before the World Heavyweight Title match, we see the video that featured at the beginning of the show, although this time it is the Edge vs. Cena feud highlighted. It all begins with John Cena becoming the first man to retain the WWE Title in the Elimination Chamber three weeks ago at New Year’s Revolution, only for Edge to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, and two Spears later, become the new WWE Champion. Since then we have seen Cena interrupt Edge’s celebration and beat the holy hell out of the new WWE Champion, making Kurt Angle submit to the STF-U while staring down Edge, sending Edge plummeting through a table with an F-U, and finally, Edge smashing the skull of Cena with a con-chair-to, before holding the WWE Title over Cena’s body.

Lilian Garcia: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the WWE Championship!

*MY TIME IS NOW*

The crowd explodes into an enormous mixed reaction of mostly cheers as John Cena runs out onto the stage, playing it up to the crowd, before standing at the top of the ramp and posing. Cena then sprints down to the ring and slides into it, again posing for the crowd.

Joey Styles: John Cena won the WWE Championship ten months ago at WrestleMania 21 when he defeated John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield. Since then, Cena has been a fighting champion, defending against any and all comers until just three weeks ago, Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and, in the opinion of many, STOLE the WWE Championship from Cena. Tonight is Cena’s first opportunity since then to recapture the gold; can the former champ do it?

Jonathan Coachman: Joe, for weeks now you’ve been sayin’ Edge stole the title, but last I checked, that Money in the Bank contract that Edge earned gave him the chance to cash in at any time and any place, and Edge did just that.

Jerry Lawler: Regardless of that, tonight is the first time Edge and Cena will meet one-on-one, with both men at full health.

Joey Styles: Well is Cena at full health? Last Monday night we saw Edge attacked him from behind with a steel chair, delivering a debilitating con-chair-to.

Lilian Garcia: Introducing first, the challenger, from West Newbury, Massachusetts, weighing 245 lbs, John Cena!

*METALINGUS*

And with that, the biggest heat of the night comes from the crowd as they ferociously boo the arrival of the WWE Champion, Edge, along with the sultry Lita, walking through their veil of smoke, before looking into the eyes of one another and walking down to the ring, ignoring the fans abuse at ringside. With Cena having cleared the ring, Edge slides in and waits for Lita, before posing with the gold in the corner as Cena slides back into the ring.

Joey Styles: The perpetrator of the con-chair-to was of course this man, ‘The Rated R Superstar’, the WWE Champion, Edge, who like always is accompanied by his fiery girlfriend, Lita.

Jonathan Coachman: That con-chair-to this past Monday was a work of art gentlemen, and don’t be surprised to see Edge make another work of art tonight when he splatters Cena’s body all over the mat tonight.

Jerry Lawler: If Cena is at a hundred percent, it may just be Edge who finds himself splattered across the mat, ‘Coach’.

Lilian Garcia: His opponent, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, weighing 250 lbs, he is the WWE Champion, Edge!

Match Four ~ WWE Championship:
John Cena vs. WWE Champion Edge w/ Lita

As the crowd buzzes with anticipation, the two foes stand at opposite corners of the ring, John Cena nodding his head, recognising the crowd, while Edge stretches his arms out and prepares himself mentally for the match. After a few words of encouragement from Lita at ringside, Edge appears to be armoured for battle as he now comes out of the corner a bit and starts to circle around the ring, eyes darting, prompting Cena to do the same, looking right at Edge. Slowly, the duo walk around, Cena continuing to look right at Edge while Edge glances from side to side, perhaps showing a sign of nervousness before both forces step forward and lock eyes in an intense staredown. Edge, the confident yet nervous man that he is, begins to jaw off, telling him that he has no chance of taking HIS WWE Championship. Thinking he has the mental edge initially, Edge begins to look frustrated when Cena just continues to stare a hole through ‘The Rated R Superstar’. Continuing to try to get into the head of Cena, Edge asks Cena if he hears him, telling him he should just give up now. Still, the determined former champion just continues to stare at Edge, sending Edge over the edge as he suddenly comes out with a HUGE slap, right across the jaw of John Cena!

The sound of the slap echoes throughout the arena as the crowd sums the situation up perfectly with a big “OHHHHH~!” Meanwhile, Joey Styles asks the question that Edge too would soon be thinking, as he wonders out loud just how smart of a move that was from the reigning WWE Champion. Cena feels at his cheek first, taking his time to take everything in, before SUDDENLY coming across the ring directly at Edge, causing the somewhat scared champion to retreat back into the his shell between the second and top ropes, knowing that no harm can come upon him there. With the referee forcing the enraged Cena back, a concerned Edge slowly comes out from between the ropes and hangs against them, eyes again darting around, waiting for Cena to make the next move. Seeing an apprehensive Edge still against the ropes, Cena decides the best method of attack is to circle around the ring, causing Edge to move away from the ropes and circle around too, before both men step forward and look to lockup for the first time in the match ... only for the cowardly Edge to AGAIN back away and hide in between the ropes, basking in his sanctuary.

With the referee having backed Cena right away again, Edge’s eyes now dart from side to side once again, before ‘The Rated R Superstar’ decides that it is safe to come out of his shell and again lean back against the ropes, waiting. Cena, sick of Edge’s rubbish decides that he isn’t going to make the first move, telling Edge to go ahead and come away from the ropes. Unsure of what to do, Edge looks around for a moment before deciding to again move into the slow circle of the ring, prompting Cena to do the same thing, only faster, almost catching Edge ... prompting Edge to go back into hiding between the top and second ropes for a THIRD time. The crowd is quite obviously pissed off as they barrage abuse at the WWE Champion. Cena meanwhile just smiles wryly, the referee forcing him back ... LEAVING HIM OPEN TO BE DRILLED BY EDGE! The opportunistic champion pounces, seeing Cena’s head wide open as he comes away from the ropes in a mad rush and levels Cena square in the face.

As Cena now staggers Edge moves back in, DRILLING Cena time and time again with right hands, forcing him all of the way back to the corner. There, Edge UNLOADS with unrelenting kicks to the midsection of Cena, driving the wind out of his body time and time again. With the referee’s count getting to four Edge is forced to move back, looking at Cena as he falls to a knee and moves out of the corner slowly, before charging and hitting YET ANOTHER right hand, adding insult to injury.

Now confident, ‘The Rated R Superstar’ backs away to the middle of the ring and holds his arms up in the air, thinking he has an early victory over Cena to a plethora of heat. Now moving back in after an embattled Cena, Edge looks to nail the rising ex-champ with a right hand ... only to be BLOCKED ... THEN HIT WITH A DOSE OF HIS OWN MEDICINE! The crowd pops as Cena ROCKS Edge with right after right, causing Edge to stagger back to the middle of the ring, before a devious champion raises his knee, DRIVING the air out of the midriff of Cena. Looking to slow down the pace of the match and assure himself control, a desperate Edge now locks in a side headlock, attempting to steady the ship.

Cranking away, Edge tries to apply as much pressure as possible, wearing down Cena bit by bit. The challenger drops to a knee as he attempts to push the arm of Edge away from his neck to no avail, as Edge has the hold synched in tight. Now deciding to go with a different approach, a sedated Cena attempts to get some momentum building as he gets to his vertical base then backs into the ropes, hoping to spring back and use the momentum to push Edge away ... only for the sly champion to drop to a knee, halting any momentum immediately. Extremely happy with the pattern the match is now going in, Edge decides to slow things even further, taking Cena over with a headlock takedown and grounding the stronger man. At first Cena’s arms flail as he struggles around on the mat, however, with the persistent champion not giving an inch, Cena soon grows tired and makes the mistake of allowing both of his shoulders to fall to the mat:

.........
.....
...1...

Cena springs his shoulder up!

Again, Cena now starts to flail, only for Edge to lock the hold in EVEN TIGHTER, yelling out with intensity, causing Cena’s body to once again become limp and fall down:

.........
.....
....1....

Cena lifts his shoulder up swiftly once again!

Not wasting any time, Cena doesn’t give Edge a hint that he’ll fight back; instead he just does it, quickly climbing back to his feet with a burst of energy. Backing Edge towards the ropes, a resilient Cena hits right and left hands to the ribs of Edge, softening him up before bouncing off the ropes and FINALLY freeing himself of the headlock, pushing Edge off across the ring. Edge hits the ropes, then springs back towards Cena and gets TAKEN DOWN with a shoulder tackle. The crowd gives an admittedly mixed reaction, although mostly cheers, before Cena dashes off to the ropes and bounces back, springing up over Edge and bouncing off the opposite ropes right into a hip toss attempt ... which Cena blocks! Edge tries and tries to take Cena over, but he just can’t do it ... when Cena SUDDENLY sends Edge down with a big clothesline. Getting right back up to his feet, Edge finds himself on the receiving end of a BARRAGE of right hands, sending the crowd into a frenzy as Edge is backed into the ropes, before quickly being sent off with an Irish whip.

Edge runs across the ring, then looks as if he is about to bounce back onto the ropes, only to hold on and then drop down and roll from the ring, avoiding Cena who had already reared up with a big right hand. Wiping his face to check for blood, a panting Edge starts to walk around ringside, ignoring the fans before one in particular captures his attention, prompting him to get into an argument with the spectator. Using this opportunity to run across the ring and slide from it, Cena now approaches Edge from behind ... then turns him and ROCKS him with a big right hand to a big pop from the crowd at ringside. Cena then follows up with a kick to the midsection, bending Edge over, before grabbing him by the hair and HURLING him right into the crowd barrier in front of the spectator! The crowd gets right in Edge’s face as Cena looks to follow up ... only to turn around to foil an attempted sneak attack from Lita, as the vicarious vixen freezes.

Lita holds her hands out and shakes her head as she backs away, begging off, hoping Cena won’t do anything to her. After backing Lita a fair distance away, Cena turns back to Edge ... AND GETS ABSOLUTELY DRILLED WITH A SPEAR OUT OF NOWHERE!

Cena’s body splats across the mats at ringside as Edge slowly gets up, looking surprised perhaps at his own move, before the referee joins him on the outside and tells him to get back into the ring. After realising the opportunity that was presenting itself, Edge did just this, rolling into the ring ... AND TELLING THE REFEREE TO COUNT! Taking his time to rest against the ropes, Edge counts along with the referee, getting up to four with the dilapidated body of the former WWE Champion still not even budging. By five Cena FINALLY begins to show some life, rolling about towards the ring apron, reaching a hand up. Using the apron to pull himself, Cena gets to a knee by seven, then, by nine, pulls himself up into the ring ... ROLLING RIGHT INTO A FURY OF STOMPS!

An irate WWE Champion, who simply cannot believe that Cena made it back into the ring, stomps on a defenceless time and time again, BURYING his boot into the midsection that has already been significantly weakened by what just went down. Feeling the need to intervene, the official begins to count, however, when at four he realises he has no chance of stopping the incensed champion, he physically gets involved, pulling Edge away from the ropes and away from Cena. However, this is just a momentary break for Cena, as once Edge is left by the referee he rushes back in and DROPS his knee firmly into the midsection of Cena, driving even more air out of his body, before kicking his body from the ring, sending Cena down into the hard, cold mats with a splat.

The manic champion pulls his hair back, then tells the referee to begin his count again, only faster this time. Again, Edge counts along with the referee, basking in the moment, only to become frustrated just a moment later as Cena manages to slide back into the ring at six. Getting back to his feet, Cena finds himself reeling again as Edge kicks him square in the midsection, then rams him back into the corner by pushing his shoulder into the midsection of ‘The Champ’. With Cena corner, Edge now rears back ... AND DRIVES HIS SHOULDER RIGHT INTO THE INJURED MIDSECTION OF CENA! Edge does this TIME AND TIME AND TIME AGAIN, punishing Cena, who gasps for air after each shot. Edge eventually backs away from Cena, happy that he has done sufficient damage to Cena’s midsection, before sending ‘The Champ’ off to the opposite corner with an Irish whip ... AND CHARGING IN TO HIT A SPEAR IN THE CORNER!

With Edge backing away, Cena falls to a knee, groaning in pain, only for Edge to follow up as he quickly throws Cena’s arm over his shoulders and gets him up for a suplex ... ONLY TO DROP HIM MIDSECTION FIRST ACROSS THE TOP ROPE!

Falling back down onto the mat, Cena is left no time to recover as Edge quickly hooks the leg:

CENA MANAGES TO GET A SHOULDER UP!

The crowd, happy Cena was able to kick out, pop, although Cena reacts with another groan, having used his abdomens to push out from under the cover. Edge, noticing the pain Cena is going through, again hooks the leg of Cena:

CENA AGAIN KICKS OUT!

Edge, smiling as he gets back to his feet, does not look frustrated in the least, instead enjoying the pain Cena goes through from each and every simple motion. With Cena now sitting up Edge comes back at him and KICKS him square in the midsection, sending him back down onto his back. Following up, Edge STOMPS right into the midsection of Cena, BURYING his boot into Cena with a smile on his face. Extremely happy with proceedings, Edge once again drops down and hooks the leg of Cena:

CENA LIFTS HIS SHOULDER OFF THE MAT!

‘The Rated R Superstar’ looks up at the referee from a seated position questionably, maybe thinking he should have got three there, before wrapping his long legs around the midsection of Cena, applying a bodyscissors! Cena, in a rare moment of weakness, immediately cries out in pain, showing just how much punishment Edge has put him through. Edge meanwhile grinds his teeth, his face now a mask of intensity as he SQUEEZES the life out of Cena! The crowd, unsure of the current situation, have gone completely silent, the only sound that can be heard Edge shouting at the referee “Ask him! Ask him!” Despite the badgering of the referee at the behest of Edge, Cena will not quit, instead choosing to grit his teeth and fight through the excruciating pain by seizing the moment, pumping his fist in the air and rallying the crowd in the American Airlines Arena to rally behind him.

Fighting through the pain, Cena pumps his arm up and down as the crowd clap him on ... before suddenly UNLOADING with a HUGE right hand on Edge! Cena strikes again and again, coming out with a flurry that rocks the champion to his very core, forcing him to break the submission hold and roll away, tending to his face instead of his opponent. Seeing both men down, the referee begins to count, with Cena still rolling around in agony, holding his midsection, while Edge continues to feel at his face, checking if there is any blood. With the referee up to three Edge is the first to get anywhere near a vertical base, ascending up to a knee, before staggering towards Cena, who is pulling himself up with the ropes. Smiling, the cocky WWE Champion realises he still has the upper hand here, taking his time before turning Cena around and going for a right hand ... but Cena blocks it ... then comes back with a MASSIVE right hand of his own! A staggered Edge rocks back, before shaking off the shot and going for a right once again, only for Cena to again block then BLAST Edge with another right! To follow up on his good work Cena scores with another couple of right hands, only to be cut off as Edge raises his knee, DRIVING the air out of the midsection of Cena.

With Cena now struggling in the centre of the ring, Edge looks back at the ropes with a smirk etched into his face and backs into them, bouncing back for a clothesline attempt, which Cena JUST manages to duck. Panicking, Edge hastily turns back to Cena and receives a kick to the midsection, with Cena quickly dashing off to the ropes behind ‘The Rated R Superstar’, and then coming back with the throwback, PLANTING Edge!

Once again, both men are down in the centre of the ring, neither moving at first out of pure exhaustion. Once the referee begins his count both warriors realise the importance of the battle they’re partaking in and check on their damaged features: for Edge, his face; Cena, the midriff. However, with the title that he felt he had stolen from him just three weeks ago on the line, Cena slowly summons the energy and rolls over, draping an arm across Edge:

EDGE SPRINGS HIS SHOULDER OFF THE MAT!

An exhausted Cena rolls away from the body of Edge and starts to pick himself back up, leaving ‘The Rated R Superstar’ to do the same thing. Getting back to their feet right in front of each other, both men are on spaghetti legs, not looking ready to launch an attack ... which Edge proves wrong when he comes out with a sudden poke to the eye!

The WWE Champion smiles as ‘The Doctor of Thuganomics’ struggles, before running off to the ropes and coming back at Cena ... ONLY TO BE THROWN OVER WITH A SIT OUT HIP TOSS! The crowd goes nuts as Cena springs back up to his feet, assisting Edge in doing so before hurling him off to the corner with an Irish whip and following him in with a BIG body splash! Staggering out of the corner in pain, Edge looks to be in trouble, however that trouble is compounded as Cena then kicks him in the midsection, throws his arm over his own broad shoulders and snaps off a beautiful fisherman suplex! The crowd again cheers as Cena ... holds his ribs? The former champion is unable to immediately follow up, instead taking the time to try to manage his pain before crawling across and hooking the leg of Edge:

EDGE KICKS OUT!

Cena, rolling of Edge looking almost frustrated at the fact that he has to battle on, slowly gets up, before again assisting Edge in doing so and Irish whipping him into the corner, looking to go for the same body splash as before ... however, Edge is able to move at the last second and Cena CRASHES into the top turnbuckle MIDSECTION FIRST!

The crowd lets out a groan as they know what the move means while Cena begins to stagger back, his face contorted into a shape that shows considerable suffering, before Edge grabs him from behind ... AND SCORES WITH A GUTBUSTER, DROPPING CENA’S MIDSECTION ACROSS HIS KNEE!

Howling in pain, Cena rolls around the mat, clasping at his abs, while Edge stays on his hands and knees for a moment, gasping in as much air as possible, before rolling Edge onto his back and hooking his leg:

CENA ROLLS HIS SHOULDER OFF THE MAT!

Much like earlier, Cena again grimaces in pain immediately after kicking out, almost looking like regretting even moving. Meanwhile Edge badgers the referee, making sure it wasn’t three before getting back to his feet, pulling his hair back as he does so.

Getting back to his feet, Edge takes a few deep breaths and watches Cena, waiting ... before running across and BOOTING him square in the midsection, sending him rolling over to the ropes! Slowly stalking Cena, the champion strokes at his facial hair, still breathing rather heavily before POUNCING, pushing Cena right down across the second rope midsection first! Cena screams in agony as Edge grinds him into the cable, with the referee enforcing his count, causing Edge to break on four. Arguing with the referee immediately, Edge looks unhappy at being forced to break the hold, however, when we see Lita climb up onto the apron behind the referee’s back, we see what Edge’s real purpose in arguing with the referee was. Quickly working away, Lita is shown entangling the arms of John Cena in the ropes, before dropping back down from the apron ... LEAVING US TO SEE CENA COMPLETELY TIED UP IN THE ROPES, DEFENCELESS!

Edge smiles demonically, now leaving the referee to go after Cena, while the referee question Lita as to how Cena got in the position he unfortunately finds himself in. With no evidence, the referee is able to do nothing though, leaving Cena to be at the mercy of the merciless WWE Champion. Still smiling, Edge mocks Cena, telling him “You can’t see me!” while he waves his hand around, before insulting slapping Cena a few times, just toying with him ... ONLY FOR CENA TO SUDDENLY KICK EDGE! A staggered ‘Rated R Superstar’ staggers back, shocked that Cena had the gall to kick him when tied up. Suddenly overcome by rage, Edge wastes no time to recover, instead taking out his anger on Cena with a FURY of punches, striking him time and time again until the referee finally gets involved and pulls Edge away!

Having backed Edge away, the referee now moves in and attempts to help a groggy Cena untangle his body from the ropes. However, the referee soon has to move, AS EDGE COMES CHARGING BACK ACROSS THE RING --- SPEAR! EDGE UNCOILS WITH A VICIOUS SPEAR ON A DEFENCELESS CENA!

The Miami natives shit all over Edge as he gets back to his feet with a cocky smile covering his tired face, before he realises that Cena has fallen from the ropes ... into the opposite corner! This becomes too much for Edge to bear, his smile only getting wider as he backs across into the corner opposite to Cena and crouches down, shouting across the ring “Get up you no good son of a bitch! Get up! GET UP!

Slowly, ‘The Doctor of Thuganomics’, who probably now wishes he was a real doctor instead of a wrestler, starts to show some form of life, rolling his mangled body towards the ropes and reaching his hand up, slowly looking to make the ascent back up to his feet. Waiting, a possessed Edge continues to hurl abuse at Cena from across the ring, chewing at the bit to get at his prey. Cena, now on one foot uses all of the strength in his body to pull himself all of the way back up to a vertical base, leaning on the ropes, before slowly turning around, PROMPTING EDGE TO COME CHARGING ACROSS THE RING, LOOKING TO END THE BATTLE --- SPEAR --- NO! CENA EVADES THE MOVE, PERHAPS OUT OF SHEER EXHAUSTION, BY FALLING BY THE WAYSIDE, LEAVING EDGE TO CRASH INTO THE SECOND TURNBUCKLE FACE FIRST!

The crowd goes ballistic as both men are down, Edge smarting after missing the Spear, while Cena lays a broken man, who narrowly avoided his demise, despite it looking inevitable. The referee, taking his priorities in the right order, decides to check on both men before beginning his count, making sure that they are at least conscious. Seeing that they both are, he now begins to count, with the crowd in Miami joining in the festivities, shouting every number out along with him. With the referee up to five, both men slowly begin to stir, shaking their legs at first, before slowly rolling across to opposite sides of the ring for the second time in the match and using the ropes to assist in pulling their bodies back up to their feet. Despite coming agonisingly close to being counted out, both men stagger back into the middle of the ring at the count of nine, and begin to trade blows, with Edge getting the first shot in!

Cena, not to be outdone, fires off a HUGE shot of his own, sending ‘The Rated R Superstar’ falling back, almost onto his ass. Edge, however, keeps his wherewithal and comes back at Cena, STRIKING him with a right of his own, this time almost sending Cena down! Cena again recovers though, then FIRES back on Edge, sending him back, jelly-legs and all. Edge again recovers and THROWS a big right Cena’s way ... BUT CENA BLOCKS ... THEN STRIKES WITH A RIGHT OF HIS OWN! The crowd goes bonkers as Cena now SMASHES Edge with a series of right hands, sending him back and looking to Irish whip him across the ring, only for Edge to reverse.

Sprinting back across the ring, adrenaline pumping through his veins, the determined Cena isn’t about to let Edge stand in his way of becoming WWE Champion, instead GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH HIM with a big time flying shoulder tackle! Getting back to his feet looking rather embarrassed, Edge looks to make up for being taken down with such ease, only for Cena to bounce off the ropes and SLAM straight through Edge with a second flying shoulder tackle! Edge again gets up, although this time finds himself as the recipient of a big clothesline, administered to him by ‘The Doctor of Thuganomics’.

Getting back to his feet, Edge looks to make amends for all of the blows that have been struck upon him in the past minute, swinging wildly at Cena ... ONLY FOR CENA TO DUCK --- PROTOPLEX! CENA STRIKES WITH THE PROTOPLEX, PLANTING EDGE DOWN IN THE CENTRE OF THE RING!

Getting back to his feet, ‘The Champ’ raises his hand in the air to a huge ovation, before walking over to the downed WWE Champion, swinging his hand wildly whilst telling him “You can’t see me!” ... BEFORE CHARGING OFF TO THE ROPES AND COMING BACK WITH A LITTLE DANCE --- FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE CONNECTS! The crowd goes ballistic as Cena gets back to his feet and raises his hands in the air, before kneeling down and waiting on Edge, who tends to his face which just got caved in.

Getting up a little tentatively after past failures, a groggy Edge gives his back to Cena ... BEFORE TURNING AND GETTING HOISTED UP INTO A FIREMAN’S CARRY! CENA, LOOKING RIGHT INTO THE EYE OF THE HARD CAMERA LOOKS SET TO HIT THE F-U --- WHEN SUDDENLY EDGE COMES OUT WITH SOME SHOTS TO THE INJURED MIDSECTION --- CAUSING CENA TO FALL FORWARDS AND EDGE TO LAND ON HIS FEET!

EDGE QUICKLY LOCKS IN A FRONT FACE LOCK AND LOOKS TO NAIL THE EDGECUTION --- NO, CENA SPINS OUT OF IT AND SWINGS FOR A CLOTHESLINE --- BUT EDGE DUCKS --- EDGE-O-MATIC CONNECTS! The head of Cena bounces off the mat as Cena quickly grabs a leg:

THR – NO!

CENA AGAIN KICKS OUT, PROMPTING WILD CHEERS TO COME FROM THE CROWD!

Edge, after questioning the referee as to whether it was three in hope, falls back and flails his arms wildly, not believing the fact that Cena was able to kick out. After a slight temper tantrum, the reigning and defending WWE Champion gets back up to his feet and looks around, before looking at Cena who is yet to move since kicking out and smiling, realising what state he’s in. After making his way over to Cena, Edge slowly negotiates lifting the deadweight of the former champion, using his jean shorts to great effect ... BEFORE AGAIN LOCKING IN THE FRONT FACE LOCK! LOOKING AROUND AT THE CROWD, EDGE LICKS HIS LIPS, SALIVATING THE MOMENT --- ONLY TO BE SUDDENLY HOISTED UP INTO THE AIR --- F-U! CENA CONNECTS OUT OF NOWHERE WITH A MONSTROUS F-U, SLAMMING EDGE DOWN INTO THE MAT HARD WITH A SENSATIONAL BURST OF ENERGY!

After pulling that move out of seemingly nowhere, Cena is down and almost looking out, with Edge in pretty much the same shape. For a moment neither man moves ... BEFORE CENA STARTS TO SHOW LIFE! SLOWLY, CENA ROLLS ... AND HE DRAPES AN ARM ACROSS EDGE:

.........

THRE – NO!

Edge hasn’t kicked out, but nor has the referee completed his count ... AS HE IS PULLED FROM THE RING BY LITA!

Not taking any shit, the referee questions why Lita pulled him from the ring ... ONLY TO BE DRILLED WITH A HUGE SLAP, SENDING HIM FALLING IN A HEAP! While no wrestler, nor even any normal human being, would be in that shape thanks to a slap, the referee is out like a light bulb, with still no movement in the ring.

Ever so slowly, ‘The Champ’ gets back to his feet, seeing Edge still down, unmoving, while also seeing no referee present. Looking around, Cena notices Lita looking especially guilty at ringside, before seeing the referee down beside her. Seeing red, Cena dashes across the ring then rolls under the bottom rope and confronts Lita, asking her what she did. Lita looks around, unsure of what to do ... BEFORE SUDDENLY SLAPPING CENA! Much like her lover earlier in the match, Lita sends shockwaves through the American Airlines Arena as the sound of the slap reverberates around the arena, with Cena again looking to the side ... THEN BEGINNING TO GIVE CHASE TO A RUNNING LITA!

Chasing her around the ring, Cena looks to gets his hands on the woman who just robbed him of the WWE Championship, only for after a full lap, Lita to slide in the ring, Cena right on her tail. Moving to the side, Lita gets out of dodge ... AS EDGE COMES OUT OF NOWHERE, CHARING AT JOHN CENA --- BUT CENA CATCHES HIM WITH A DROP TOE HOLD --- THEN LOCKS IN THE STF-U! The crowd goes nuts as Cena pulls Edge’s head back, contorting his body and causing him to absolutely howl in pain! Despite no referee being in the ring, Edge looks to find a way out of the hold by tapping out, although with no referee nothing happens, obviously. Lita, looking extremely guilty, sits on the apron, not wanting to get herself in harm’s way again, despite Cena daring her to step in the ring and try to save Edge.

As her man continues to tap, enough finally becomes enough as Lita climbs into the ring and dives on top of Cena, hammering away with shots ... ONLY FOR CENA TO GET RIGHT BACK UP TO HIS FEET, WITHSTANDING THE SHOTS WITH EASE! Looking at Lita up and down, Cena has a glint in his eye, nodding his head, with Lita reacting in the opposite way, shaking her head and screaming no. Continuing to nod, Cena backs Lita all of the way back against the ropes, cornering her ... BEFORE SUDDENLING LIFTING HER UP FOR THE F-U! Looking out at the crowd, Cena screams to cheers, before turning to the next quadrant to the same reaction. Slowly, Cena does a whole lap, before turning back to where he began ... AND GETTING DRILLED WITH YET ANOTHER SPEAR OUT OF NOWHERE!

Falling on top of Cena, Edge makes the cover while Lita, having fallen off Cena’s shoulders, rolls to the outside and slides the referee in to see the cover, groggily making the trademark slow count:

Winner (and still WWE Champion): Edge via pinfall @ 25:48

*METALINGUS*

Lilian Garcia: Here is your winner, and still WWE Champion, Edge!

Edge gets to his hands and knees, looking up at Lita who has also gotten back to her feet in joy, before being handed the WWE Title by the referee. Edge then raises the title in the air, before embracing his girlfriend and passionately sharing a kiss.

Jonathan Coachman: What did I tell you? Edge, still, your WWE Champion.

Joey Styles: That he is, ‘Coach’, but what an effort from John Cena. He endured twenty-five minutes of punishment to the midsection from Edge, and even then, he may have had the title won, had it not been for Lita getting involved.

Jerry Lawler: But let’s not take anything away from Edge. No one can say he doesn’t deserve to be champion now.

Jonathan Coachman: Exactly, ‘King’. Glad to see you comin’ ‘round. Now we just needa’ get Joe here fired, and we can finally have some fun on Monday nights.

With that, we get one last look at Edge, who has left the ring and began to walk up at the ramp, glancing back to see John Cena being helped to his feet, before we cut away to see ...

We now cut off backstage to see Todd Grisham standing by.

Todd Grisham: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, Kurt Angle!

The crowd gives a HUGE pop as Kurt Angle steps into view, wearing his wrestling gear, looking as intense as ever with a mouthguard in that reads ‘PAIN’.

Todd Grisham: Kurt Angle, for five months now, you’ve been chasing the WWE Championship, going after first, John Cena, and now Edge to become the new WWE Champion. Knowing that tonight may just be your last chance to finally gain one last shot at the title, how do you feel, just moments before this crucial match?

Kurt Angle: How do I feel, Todd? How do I feel? What do you want me to say? That I’m nervous? That I’ve got butterflies? That I’m worried that I may NEVER get another shot at the WWE Title if I lose tonight? No, Todd. I’m not wgonna’ say that, because it doesn’t matter. What matters is that I’m ready. I’m ready to go out, and win the Royal Rumble. I’m ready to guarantee myself a shot at the WWE Title. Todd, I’m ready to KICK SOME ASS!

Angle pauses for a moment, a sick smile passing through his face.

Kurt Angle: For five, long, long months, I’ve been doing everything in my power to become WWE Champion. I’ve been doing everything I possibly can. The WWE Title ... I’m not gonna’ lie ... it haunts me. When I close my eyes ... it’s there. When I fall asleep at night ... it’s there. When I wake up in the morning, it’s still there, AND IT JUST WON’T GO AWAY! I don’t just want that WWE Title ... no, I NEED the WWE Title, and you’re right when you say tonight might just be my last chance to secure myself a title match. You’re right when you say I might never get another shot at the gold if I lose tonight. But like I said, I’m ready for that. You think I’ve got butterflies, Todd? You’re damn right I do. Todd, I’ve done almost all there is to do here in the WWE, and hell, even before that. I won an Olympic Gold Medal with a BROKEN FREAKIN’ NECK! And still tonight, I’m nervous ... because going on to WrestleMania ... going on to battle for the WWE Championship ... going on to possibly become champion ... it means EVERYTHING to me.

Angle pauses, taking a deep breath.

Kurt Angle: The Royal Rumble, tonight, it’s all about going on to WrestleMania, and trust me when I say I am gonna’ be there ...

Angle then smiles as he looks off to the side, with the camera panning back to show John Cena being helped along backstage by officials, holding his midsection. Angle now walks over to Cena, stopping the officials and getting in Cena’s face.

Kurt Angle: But I guess you won’t be ...

Angle now smirks and walks off, as we cut away to ringside to see our Royal Rumble Match team of Joey Styles & Tazz.

Joey Styles: Ladies and gentlemen, I’m joined here by my fellow ECW original Tazz here, and now we are just moments away from the Royal Rumble Match. Thirty superstars, thirty dreams, one realization. Just which superstar which realise his dream?

Tazz: Joe, my pick’s SmackDown!’s Randy Orton, who as of late has been on quite a roll. Orton’s got all the tools in the shed; all he’s gotta’ do is put it all together.

Joey Styles: Well Orton is going to have to go through RAW’s Kurt Angle, and he’s my pick after looking damn near impossible these past few weeks. Angle’s a man on a mission. Before we find out though, here’s a little history on the Royal Rumble.

We now get a video package on the facts of the Royal Rumble, such as how many eliminations have taken place over the years, how many Rumble’s have taken place, who has the most eliminations and so on, so forth, before cutting back to ringside to see The Fink in the ring.

Howard Finkel: The following contest is the Royal Rumble Match! The rules of the match are as follows: two superstars begin in the ring, with superstars then entering every ninety seconds until all thirty superstars have made their way to the ring. Eliminations occur by being thrown over the top rope, with both feet of the superstar touching the floor. The winner will be the last men in the ring, and he will guarantee himself a world title match, against the champion of his choosing, at WrestleMania 22! Now, introducing the superstar who drew entry number one ...

*SEXY BOY*

The crowd gives a very nice pop as the man who we already knew would be number one, Shawn Michaels energetically makes his way out onto the stage, playing it up to the fans, before getting down onto his knees and praying to the heavens while pyro shoots off behind him. Michaels, looking as happy as a lark, quickly makes his way down the ramp and climbs up into the ring, before posing in the middle of it.

Joey Styles: Tazz, we already knew who would be number one. Shawn Michaels, who for the past month or so, has been having problems with Mr McMahons routing back to his religion and lack of ‘attitude’ so to speak, was told he would have the number one spot after earning his place in the Royal Rumble by Mr McMahon himself.

Tazz: Not only that, but Mr McMahon has motivated many of the superstars in the Rumble to come out and try to eliminate Michaels! If you ask me, Michaels is in for a tough night at the office.

Howard Finkel: From San Antonio, Texas, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’, Shawn Michaels!

*CAN YOU DIG IT, SUCKA?*

The crowd emits some decent heat as the newly anointed protégé of Booker T, Orlando Jordan makes his way out, walking down to the middle of the ramp before raising his arms in the air, causing fire to shoot out behind him. Orlando then walks down the rest of the way and climbs up into the ring, looking apprehensive, having drawn the number two spot.

Tazz: Oh yeah! Orlando representin’ SmackDown! here.

Joey Styles: Orlando Jordan has been having quite an impact on SmackDown! as of late, costing Chris Benoit the United States Title and thus winning it for his mentor, Booker T, before an impressive effort against ‘The Animal’ Batista this past Friday night.

Tazz: Impressive is the word that sums Orlando up, Joe. The guy’s got a ton of potential, and now, with Booker T seein’ it, I see a big future for Orlando. Who’s to say he can’t kick start that future by eliminating Shawn Michaels right now?

Howard Finkel: Introducing the superstar who drew number two, from Miami, Florida, weighing 250 lbs, Orlando Jordan!

Main Event ~ Royal Rumble Match:
Big Show vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Carlito vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit vs. Chris Masters vs. Finlay vs. Gene Snitsky vs. Goldust vs. Gregory Helms vs. Hardcore Holly vs. Joey Mercury vs. John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield vs. Johnny Nitro vs. Kane vs. Kurt Angle vs. Matt Hardy vs. Mr Kennedy vs. Orlando Jordan vs. Paul Burchill vs. Randy Orton vs. Rene Dupree vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Ric Flair vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker vs. Triple H vs. Tyson Tomko vs. William Regal

The crowd buzzes with anticipation, for this is what they’ve all been waiting for. Shawn Michaels, looking cool, calm and collected, having known for a week now that he would be the number one entrant, leans back against the ropes, while his first opponent, Orlando Jordan, looks apprehensive, obviously not happy with the number that he’s drawn, yet still nervous because if he can eliminate Shawn Michaels he will of course go a long, long way to pleasing the boss. Slowly, Orlando and Michaels both come forward, Michaels with a hint of a smirk on his face, as he senses the anxiousness which is exuding from the presence of Jordan. With the crowd now building to a fever pitch, Michaels nods at Jordan, before the two come forward and clash bodies, engaging in the first lockup of the match. Orlando, of course the younger of the pair, is bigger and stronger, using these traits to force Michaels back towards the corner, bit by bit, before trapping him ... and SWINGING WILDLY FOR ONE OF HIS DEADLY RIGHTS ... but Michaels ducks and quickly comes out of the corner. Hopping around behind Jordan, Michaels smirks, then tells him to bring it on, which the youthful Jordan does, rushing forward and locking up with Michaels for the second time ... and pushing Michaels back into a corner for the second time!

This time Jordan doesn’t panic as much, although he does go for a right ... and Michaels ducks, then UNLOADS with a huge chop, lighting up both the chest of Jordan and the crowd. Smiling, Michaels hits a few more heavy chops, then Irish whips Jordan off into the opposite corner, with Jordan hitting the buckle, then staggering towards him ... BACK BODY DROP! Michaels sends Jordan overhead, before picking him up and sending him back into the corner, again utilising some big chops much to the crowd’s delight as the countdown begins for the first time in the match ...

*HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?*
ENTRANT #3: HARDCORE HOLLY @ 1:30

The crowd gives a small pop as SmackDown!’s resident jobber, Hardcore Holly, runs down the ramp and quickly slides into the ring, eager to join in the action and kick some ass.

Joey Styles: It’s SmackDown!’s Hardcore Holly, someone who has been around the block a few times, and knows what to do in these situations. He’s been in multiple Rumbles, and while he hasn’t got an ideal draw tonight, can Holly make the 2006 Royal Rumble his night?

Tazz: Hey, Bob Holly, he’s tough, no doubt about it. He’s one of the nastiest S.O.B’s in the SmackDown! locker-room, but comin’ from number three, it might be a bit much for him. If I were Holly, I’d try to do my boss proud and look for a reward by eliminatin’ Shawn Michaels.

Holly, taking Tazz’s words as gospel, instantly goes right after Shawn Michaels, coming in with a CLUBBING forearm to his back, interrupting the onslaught of chops that Michaels was peppering Jordan with. Looking to immediately follow up, Holly then grabs Michaels by the hair and runs him across to the adjacent corner, SLAMMING his face down into the top turnbuckle. From there, Holly pushes Michaels back right into the corner, then shows Michaels how it’s done, CAVING the chest of Michaels in with some massive chops, which despite being done to Shawn Michaels, the crowd still responds to with cries of “WOO~!” After lighting the chest of Michaels up, Holly drags Michaels across to the centre of the ropes and sends him off with an Irish whip, before scoring with a BIG TIME dropkick, right on the button of Michaels, sending him down. Happy with his handiwork, Holly looks down at Michaels, then calls Orlando Jordan across, telling him it was time to eliminate Michaels. Despite the duo not being friends, let alone partners, they are able to work together in the common goal of pleasing their boss, as they lift Michaels up and take him across to the ropes, each grabbing a leg as they try to elevate him up and out.

Michaels though, is not quite ready to be eliminated, hooking his arm around the ropes initially, before hitting a series of rights which send both men staggering off. From there Michaels chops away at both men, captivating the crowd, before grabbing both around the head to a big pop ... AND THEN CREATING A MEETING OF THE MINDS! As both stagger away in opposite directions the crowd cheers big, Michaels going after Holly as the countdown once again starts up ...

*IT WASN’T MY FAULT*
ENTRANT #4: GENE SNITSKY @ 3:00

Walking out onto the stage to a lukewarm response, Gene Snitsky looks as menacing as ever, staring down at the ring before walking down to join the fight.

Joey Styles: RAW’s Snitsky will be competing in his second Royal Rumble Match here, and while he’s not one of the favourites, he did qualify in convincing fashion last week on RAW with tag team partner Tyson Tomko.

Tazz: Snitsky is big, and he is bad! He’s gonna’ be tough to throw over the top rope, that’s for sure! I dunno’ if he can win from this position, but I wouldn’t count this big man out!

In the ring, Michaels attempts to send Holly off with an Irish whip, only for Holly to reverse ... AND MICHAELS COMES BACK WITH A FLYING FOREARM --- THEN KIPS UP --- RIGHT INTO A HUGE BIG BOOT FROM GENE SNITSKY! Snitsky takes Michaels straight down, then quickly gets into a mount position on top of him and POUNDS away with straight right hands, knocking Michaels stupid. Snitsky gets up to his feet and roars to some pretty nice heat considering he came out to next to no reaction, before picking Michaels up and whipping him into the corner. Holly though, wanting to impress the boss, tells Snitsky to wait a moment, as he wants to charge in, which he does ... ONLY FOR MICHAELS TO CATCH HIM WITH A BACK BODY DROP --- AND SEND HIM OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #1: HARDCORE HOLLY BY SHAWN MICHAELS @ 3:42

Snitsky, being the not so bright individual that he is, decides that he’ll try to blindside Michaels, charging in at him too ... GOING FOR ANOTHER BIG BOOT --- BUT MICHAELS DUCKS IT --- THEN ELEVATES SNITSKY OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR TOO!

ELIMINATION #2: GENE SNITSKY BY SHAWN MICHAELS @ 3:56

With two of the men targeting him eliminated in under fifteen seconds, Michaels has reason to look relieved as he leans back in the corner and looks across the ring at Orlando Jordan. Going back to how we started, the two men slowly circle around the ring, before stepping forward and looking to lock up ... BUT JORDAN DRILLS MICHAELS WITH A RIGHT JAB TO THE MIDSECTION! Using his boxing prowess, Jordan now has Michaels on the back foot, hitting a few left jabs to his jaw, then taking him down with a BIG right, a smirk crossing his face as he does so, while the countdown once again begins ...

ENTRANT #5: RENE DUPREE @ 4:30

Another lukewarm response as we continue to roll out some lower midcarders, with ‘The French Phenom’ Rene Dupree running straight down the ramp to the ring, eager to get in on the action.

Joey Styles: This young stud Rene Dupree is an up and comer on Monday Night RAW. Could tonight be the night that the Frenchman cements his place as a superstar of the future in the WWE?

Tazz: Hey, we had Dupree over on SmackDown! a few years ago, and I gotta’ say, I have always been a big rap for the guy. He’s got a tough draw tonight, but believe me, this kid has a big upside.

Dupree joins the action as ‘OJ’ continues to work over Michaels, hitting him with some forearms as he pushes Michaels back into the ropes and sends him off with an Irish whip, before catching him with a knee lift to the midsection of the rebound, DRIVING the air out of Michaels and sending him hurtling down to the mat. Jordan looks set to follow up with a knee drop when Dupree tells him to step aside, before DROPPING his own knee across the face of Michaels. Getting up with a smirk, Dupree tells Jordan to top that, which he does as he runs off to the ropes and bounces back with a big knee drop of his own, SMASHING the face of Michaels. Showing his great whites, Jordan nods at Dupree, which prompts Dupree to head to the corner and go up to the second rope, telling Jordan to watch and learn before coming off with a knee drop attempt ... BUT MICHAELS DODGES! Holding his knee in pain, Dupree rolls around the mat as Jordan smiles, before turning to ‘HBK’ ... WHAM! BIG CHOP TO THE CHEST! Michaels follows up with a few more big chops, then a kick to the midsection, before grabbing ‘OJ’ by the afro ... AND RUNNING HIM ACROSS THE RING, THROWING HIM INTO RENE DUPREE WHO IS LEANING AGAINST THE ROPES --- SENDING BOTH MEN OUT!

ELIMINATION #3: RENE DUPREE BY SHAWN MICHAELS @ 5:10

ELIMINATION #4: ORLANDO JORDAN BY SHAWN MICHAELS @ 5:10

Michaels, having dominated all comers, now leans over the ropes and breathes in, knowing he has seen off all of Vince McMahon’s minions who have come at him so far, but there’s still many more to come. Moving back to the middle of the ring to a huge ovation from the crowd in the American Airlines Arena, Michaels knows there is nothing to do but wait, as the countdown begins ...

ENTRANT #6: GREGORY HELMS @ 6:00

The very talented Gregory Helms walks out onto the stage to some decent heat, showing us it’s time to step it up. Looking down at Michaels in the ring, Helms quickly disposes of his coat and beanie, before sprinting down to the ring.

Joey Styles: Shawn Michaels may have eliminated all of those before him thus far, but Gregory Helms is a step up. Ever since taking off his mask, Helms has been undefeated on Monday Night RAW, and many consider Helms to be the future of the WWE.

Tazz: And that’s what makes me like Helms even more, Joey. The kid has attitude, and you’ve just gotta’ have some of that to survive here in the WWE. Believe me, I’ve been watchin’ RAW, and Helms’ has impressed the hell outta’ me. Tonight could be his night.

Having sprinted down to the ring, Helms doesn’t allow Michaels to recuperate any further, instantly getting involved in a slugfest with him, both men just throwing right hands any which way. Finally, Helms is able to take the advantage as he scores with a knee lift to the midsection, SMASHING the lungs of Michaels, before dashing off to the ropes and rebounding back, looking for another knee, this time to the face, but Michaels sidesteps it. Turning back around, Helms finds himself on the receiving end of some BIG chops, reddening his chest, as he is forced all of the way back to the corner by Michaels. Continuing his onslaught, Michaels slaps the chest of Helms a few more times, before attempting to send him off with an Irish whip, but Helms reverses ... AND MICHAELS GOES FLYING UP THE TURNBUCKLE BACK FIRST!

Landing on his feet, Michaels staggers around ... HUGE CLOTHESLINE FROM HELMS! Michaels is now down as Gregory Helms smiles from his knees, before getting to his feet and pacing around the ring, a look of sick satisfaction on his face. With all of the confidence in the world, Helms runs back across the ring at Michaels, having seen him on his hands and knees and PUNTS him, like a football, square in the ribs, sending Michaels rolling over to the corner. That smile still on his face, Helms lifts Michaels up in the corner and UNLEASHES a BARRAGE of kicks into his midsection, before finally relenting, dragging Michaels out of the corner by the hair and sending him down to the mat with a right that CRACKS into his jaw. Looking down at Michaels with a look of disdain, Helms now climbs into a mount position, and starts to CREAM him with right hands, while the countdown once again starts up ...

Joey Styles: William Regal can brawl with the best of them, and ultimately, that’s what this match may come down to, as that’s what we continue to see in the ring.

Tazz: That’s right, Joey, and that’s why this past Friday night on SmackDown!, I nominated William Regal, along with his Bluebloods partner Paul Burchill, to be two of the favourites in this badboy.

As Michaels rolls to the ropes and Helms follows him, William Regal slides into the ring and watches Helms placing Michaels throat first over the second rope, beginning to choke him! Pressing his knee into the back of Michaels head for a solid ten seconds, Helms finally lets up and backs away, walking right back into Regal, who he bumps into. Turning, Helms looks shocked to see someone else in the ring with him, showing the focus he had been paying attention to Michaels. Regal merely glances at Helms, then himself moves in after Michaels, looking to do Mr McMahon’s bidding as he hits him with some body shots to the ribs. Not wanting to be left out of the action, Helms comes back over and pushes Regal out of the way, then starts to hit some HEAVY rights to the head of Michaels himself. Regal, not ready to be pushed around by a youngster comes back and pushes Helms out of the way again, before hitting some southpaw shots to the side of Michaels’ head. Helms again comes right back, this time pushing Regal away and confronting him, shouting “WHAT ARE YOU DOIN’?” Regal just shakes his head and tries to push past Helms, but Helms grabs him by the arm ... BAM! REGAL DRILLS HELMS WITH A BIG LEFT!

Not showing any mercy, Regal keeps on after Helms, backing him up into the corner with some BIG knee lifts to the midsection, sending him all of the way back into the corner. Once there Regal hits some body shots, then drags Helms out of the corner by the hair, boots him in the midsection and THROWS him over with a beautiful butterfly suplex! Having taken care of Helms, Regal now goes back after Michaels, storming into the corner and scoring with some left hand as the countdown begins ...

ENTRANT #8: TYSON TOMKO @ 9:00

Some decent heat comes from the crowd as Tyson Tomko confidently walks out to the top of the ramp, before sprinting on down the ramp to the ring.

Joey Styles: This man Tyson Tomko has already seen his partner Snitsky eliminated, but he is a dangerous individual in his own right, so count him out at your peril.

Tazz: Exactly right, Joey. Tomko big and he’s strong, so you can’t ever count him out.

Storming the ring, Tomko comes in to see Gregory Helms staggering out of the corner, knocking him down with a big right hand instantly. Helms gets back up and Tomko pushes him back into the ropes and sends him off with an Irish whip, before throwing him over with a HUGE BACK BODY DROP! Turning to see what the commotion is about, William Regal gets caught with a big right hand by Tomko, staggering him before Tomko sends him into the opposite corner with an Irish whip and charges right in after him, CRUNCHING him with a corner clothesline! Regal slinks out of the corner following the move, and instantly gets hoisted up by Tomko, before being DRIVEN into the mat with the sidewalk slam! Getting back to his feet, Tomko turns to see Michaels still in his corner, so he charges across and SQUASHES him with a corner clothesline too!

Instead of stumbling out of the corner, Michaels just remains on his feet in it due to him holding onto the top rope, leaving Tomko to move back in and push Michaels right back into the corner, before lifting his boot up and pressing it right into the windpipe of Michaels, CHOKING him! Confident he has sapped the life out of Michaels, Tomko now lets up on the move and grabs Michaels by the leg, trying to elevate him up and over the top rope ... ONLY FOR GREGORY HELMS TO STORM IN FROM BEHIND AND LOOK FOR REVENGE ON TOMKO BY THROWING HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE --- BUT TOMKO JUST MANAGES TO HOLD ON, LANDING ON THE APRON! Rolling back into the ring, Tomko stays down while Helms is suddenly shocked by a HUGE chop from Shawn Michaels, staggering him back. Shawn then follows up with a flurry of right hands, with the countdown again beginning ...

ENTRANT #9: FINLAY @ 10:30

Decent heat now, as ‘The Fighting Irishman’ Finlay walks down to the ring, shillelagh in hand.

Joey Styles: From SmackDown!, ‘The Fighting Irishman’ Finlay is making his Royal Rumble debut, though Tazz, you would have to think that this match would be right up his alley, having grown up on the mean streets of Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Tazz: That’s right, Joey, and you also can’t forget that Finlay is a veteran of the business. This might be his first Royal Rumble Match, but this isn’t his first shindig by any stretch.

Leaving his shillelagh in the corner, Finlay goes right to work, knocking William Regal down with a clothesline as he charges towards him, before doing the same to big Tomko, before running off to the ropes, rebounding and FLATTENING the chest of Tomko with a cannonball senton. Getting up, Finlay sees his next target as Shawn Michaels, as he pulls him away from Gregory Helms in the corner and SLUGS him with some right hands, before pushing him back into the ropes and sending him off with an Irish whip ... BUT MICHAELS SCORES WITH THE FLYING FOREARM ON THE REBOUND! After kipping up, Michaels scores on Finlay with an inverted atomic drop, then knocks him down with a right hand, before scooping him up and SLAMMING him down in the centre of the ring. Looking out to the fans for support, Michaels gets a big pop, before walking to the corner and heading to the top rope ... BEFORE LAUNCHING HIMSELF INTO THE AIR --- AND SCORING WITH THE FLYING ELBOW DROP!

The crowd goes wild as Finlay rolls across to the corner in pain, while Michaels begins to toot up the band, prompting the crowd to then bang around with every stomp. Facing away from Michaels in the corner, Finlay slowly starts to get back to his feet, prompting Michaels to charge ... BAM --- FINLAY WHACKS MICHAELS SQUARE IN THE HEAD WITH HIS SHILLELAGH! The crowd unloads with heat as Michaels lays flat on his back, with Helms now charging at Finlay ... BAM! SHILLELAGH SHOT FOR HIM --- THEN THE SAME FOR REGAL AND TOMKO! Smiling his signature gap toothed smile, Finlay throws his shillelagh back to the corner of the ring as the only man left standing, before lifting Shawn Michaels up and dragging him to the corner, trying to lift him up over the top rope, while the countdown starts up ...

ENTRANT #10: JOEY MERCURY @ 12:00

The crowd is none too receptive of Joey Mercury as the MNM member struts out onto the stage alone, waiting as the red carpet is rolled out for him, before he strips off his fur coat and sunglasses and sprints down to the ring, his photograph being snapped repeatedly as he does so.

Joey Styles: Another man making his Royal Rumble debut, Joey Mercury along with his partner Johnny Nitro having been making quite a splash on Friday nights, although this might be a little too much for him here tonight.

Tazz: Joey, Joey Mercury has been one of the shining lights on Friday Night SmackDown! since his debut, and in my opinion, if the draw favours him and Nitro comes in soon too, he could well be a real shot at this.

Instantly getting involved, Mercury looks to go after the only man standing, Finlay, as he batters him with right hands, causing Finlay to leave the man everyone is after, Shawn Michaels, in the corner. Backing him up into the ropes, Mercury then sends Finlay off with an Irish whip ... BEFORE CATCHING HIM WITH A TILT-A-WHIRL BACKBREAKER ON THE REBOUND! The crowd, despite not liking Mercury, give a positive reaction for the impressive looking move, who then goes after ‘HBK’ in the corner, charging across and scoring with a big running knee that CRASHES into the midsection of Michaels. Following up with some right hands, Mercury keeps Michaels in close quarters, while elsewhere other competitors begin to recover from their shillelagh shots, as they begin to use the ropes to get up. Despite being the most recent to take a move, Finlay is the first up as he goes after Mercury, turning him around and then ROCKING him with a big European uppercut that sends him staggering back. Finlay then scores with a big ol’ slap across the chest of Mercury, before Irish whipping him into the corner.

Looking to follow up, Finlay instantly chases after Mercury ... only for Mercury to raise the boot ... BUT FINLAY CATCHES IT AND ATTEMPTS TO USE IT TO THROW MERCURY OVER THE TOP ROPE --- ONLY FOR MERCURY TO FIGHT HIM OFF WITH KICKS FROM THE OTHER BOOT! Finlay, staggering back towards the centre of the ring, is then met with a big clothesline by Mercury ... WHO IN TURN IS MET WITH A BIG CROSS BODY BLOCK OFF THE TOP ROPE FROM GREGORY HELMS! Helms gets back to his feet confidently, waiting for Mercury to sit up ... WHICH HE DOES, PROMPTING HELMS TO RUN OFF TO THE ROPES --- BAM! HELMS IS TAKEN DOWN WITH A BIG BOOT FROM TOMKO! With everyone outside of Helms now just about back in commission, the countdown once again begins ...

ENTRANT #11: CHRIS BENOIT @ 13:30

The crowd comes to life with a very nice ovation as the winner of the 2004 Royal Rumble, ‘The Rabid Wolverine’ Chris Benoit walks out onto the ramp and looks around to the audience, before running down and sliding into the ring.

Joey Styles: For twenty years Chris Benoit has been told he’s too small, that he’s too plain, that he isn’t good enough, but in 2004 at the Royal Rumble, Benoit proved them all wrong when he won the whole thing from the number one spot. With a better spot this year, can Benoit do it again?

Tazz: The intensity of Benoit is unmatched. Despite comin’ in at number eleven, I still have him down as one of the favourites.

Upon sliding into the ring, Benoit is met with a charging giant in Tomko, who he SMASHES across the chiselled chest with a huge chop, much to the crowd’s delight. Staggering away, Tomko is passed by Finlay, who decides to try his luck ... but he gets SLAPPED with a huge chop too! Benoit, showing he’s not playing favourites, hands out a MASSIVE chop to someone it’s well known that he respects in Shawn Michaels, before sending a charging William Regal down with a clothesline. Mercury is the next to go down, as he staggers towards Benoit and gets caught with a kick to the midsection, before Benoit SNAPS him over with a suplex. Going back to Tomko, Benoit pushes him back into the ropes, then sends him off with an Irish whip, before ducking a clothesline on the rebound ... WAISTLOCK --- GERMAN SUPLEX! BENOIT DRILLS TOMKO ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD --- BUT HE ISN’T DONE, AS HE LIFTS HIM BACK UP AND NAILS A SECOND! SHOWING HIS TENACITY, BENOIT CONTINUES TO PERSEVERE, LIFTING THE BIG MAN UP, AND COMPLETING THE HAT TRICK, LEAVING TOMKO LAYING!

Looking around, Benoit then does his classic throat cutting motion, before heading up to the top rope ... AND DIVING DOWN WITH A HUGE HEADBUTT! Taking a moment to get up, Benoit appears to be groggy ... AS HE GETS CAUGHT WITH A HUGE RUNNING KNEE TO THE HEAD FROM WILLIAM REGAL! The crowd boos Regal with a passion, although they are soon cheered up as Regal then turns around and gets lit up with a chop from Shawn Michaels, who has been in this match from the beginning. Continuing on with Regal, Michaels starts up one of many mini-brawls that are going on, as the countdown commences again ...

ENTRANT #12: BOBBY LASHLEY @ 15:00

The crowd once again comes alive with a very nice pop as the rookie monster, the man who has taken SmackDown! by storm, ‘The Real Deal’ Bobby Lashley jogs straight out to the ring.

Joey Styles: In just four short months here in the WWE, Bobby Lashley has run through his competition, being undefeated by pinfall or submission, prompting some people to call him ‘The Real Deal’. In his very first Royal Rumble, can Lashley prove all of those people right?

Tazz: I gotta’ say, up until this Friday night, I wasn’t sure Bobby Lashley could do it, but after his performance in the Battle Royal this past Sunday, Bobby Lashley has got me agreein’: he is ‘The Real Deal’. Tonight’s his chance to prove the rest of the doubters wrong, and I wouldn’t bet against him.

After coming into the ring Lashley is instantly met by a charging Gregory Helms, who he takes down with a big right hand. Regal then breaks away from Michaels and gets drilled with a big right, before Shawn Michaels meets the same fat. Joey Mercury is the next to come running, although Lashley sidesteps him ... AND GRABS HIM BY THE HAIR, USING HIS MOMENTUM TO THROW HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #5: JOEY MERCURY BY BOBBY LASHLEY @ 15:23

Turning around following the elimination of Mercury, Lashley sees William Regal stumbling towards him, so he kicks him in the midsection, then lifts him up for a suplex ... AND BACKS ACROSS TO NEAR THE ROPES --- SUPLEXING REGAL OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #6: WILLIAM REGAL BY BOBBY LASHLEY @ 15:36

Lashley is on fire as he gets back to his feet and sees a somewhat groggy Tomko swing for a clothesline, only for Lashley to duck, then charge off to the ropes ... SPEAR! LASHLEY SPEARS THE HOLY HELL OUT OF TOMKO! Getting back up, Lashley sees Helms staggering towards him ... SO HE SPEARS HIM TOO! Benoit is the next one stupid enough to stagger towards Lashley ... BECAUSE HE SUFFERS THE SAME FATE! IT’S SPEARCITY! Next to stagger towards Lashley is a tired Shawn Michaels, although Lashley instead kicks him in the midsection ... THEN PUTS HIM IN A GUTWRENCH --- DOMINATOR! LASHLEY THROWS MICHAELS DOWN INTO THE MAT WITH THE DOMINATOR! As the only man left standing, Lashley looks around at the destruction he’s caused, the crowd cheering him as he does so ... ONLY TO BE BLINDSIDED BY FINLAY WITH A CHOP BLOCK! ‘The Fighting Irishman’, who had laid back and let everyone else come forth and feel the wrath of Lashley chops his enemy down to size, before beginning to BRUTALLY stomp on him, bringing the fight to Lashley that he had promised him. Meanwhile, once again, the countdown has begun ...

ENTRANT #13: CHAVO GUERRERO @ 16:30

The crowd gives a decent pop as Chavo Guerrero runs out to the ring, holding his arm up as he points to the sky.

Joey Styles: A veteran, Chavo Guerrero is not in his first Rumble here, Tazz, and that experience could prove to be vital, especially when you consider the roll Chavo has been on lately.

Tazz: That’s right, Joey. Chavo’s always been one of the most talented guys on the roster, and that comes with his name, but now that he’s gotten himself on a roll, he could be in with a shot here.

Climbing up to the apron, Chavo sees a multitude of superstars down on the mat ... PROMPTING HIM TO GO UP TO THE TOP ROPE INSTEAD OF CLIMB INTO THE RING --- AND COME DOWN WITH A FROG SPLASH ON TOMKO! Getting back to his feet, Chavo points up to the heavens, inspiring a chant of “EDDIE~! EDDIE~! EDDIE~!” before going after Gregory Helms as he gets back to his feet, SMASHING his jaw with a European uppercut. Chavo quickly follows up by grabbing Helms around the head and running him towards the corner, SLAMMING his head down across the top turnbuckle, sending him into a world of his own. From there Chavo pushes Helms right back into the corner and looks to score with BARRAGE of kicks on Helms, keeping control over him. Elsewhere in the ring, Finlay CLUBS away at the head of Lashley, trying to lift him every so often, only for Lashley to resist, prompting Finlay to go back to the rights. Chavo meanwhile gets Helms right down in a seated position following his onslaught of kicks, before dashing off to the ropes and coming back with a boot which he just PLANTS into the side of the head of Helms, leaving him damn near knocked out.

Happy with himself, Chavo turns around and receives a kick to the midsection from his good buddy Chris Benoit, who follows up by taking Chavo across to another corner and beginning to chop him down. Lashley meanwhile, suddenly blocks a right hand from Finlay, then scores with a series of his own, BLASTING Finlay time and time again ... until Finlay comes out with a poke to the eye! With at, Finlay runs off to the ropes, looking to attack Lashley, only to BOUNCE off his broad shoulders, falling down to the mat as we get the familiar countdown ...

ENTRANT #14: PAUL BURCHILL @ 18:00

The crowd exudes some small heat, as the second Brit, Paul Burchill runs down to the ring, looking to make up for William Regal being eliminated earlier.

Joey Styles: Tazz, you nominated The Bluebloods to be two guys you thought could go a long way into this match, and while William Regal has been eliminated, Paul Burchill has found himself a more favourable draw.

Tazz: That’s right, and while Burchill is young, Regal has taught him all the tricks of the trade. He’s a dark horse right here this one.

As Burchill slides into the ring, Lashley takes Finlay down with a clothesline, before whipping him off and sending him overhead on the rebound with a HUGE belly to belly suplex. This is where Burchill picks his spot, as he then clubs Lashley in the back, staggering him, before turning him around and SMACKING him in the jaw. Burchill then looks to follow up, Irish whipping Lashley off into the ropes, then going for a clothesline on the rebound, only for Lashley to duck ... THEN CLOTHESLINE A RISING FINLAY UP OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #7: FINLAY BY BOBBY LASHLEY @ 18:30

Having eliminated his enemy to a big pop, Lashley turns around into a kick to the midsection from Paul Burchill, who then sends Lashley staggering back into the corner with some HEAVY forearms. Tyson Tomko and Shawn Michaels meanwhile take centre stage, as Tomko BARRAGES Michaels with right hands, sending him staggering off into the ropes, before Tomko sends him off with an Irish whip, going for a swing sidewalk slam on the rebound, but Michaels floats over ... SWEET CHIN MUSIC --- NO, TOMKO CATCHES HIS FOOT --- AND DRILLS MICHAELS WITH A CLOTHESLINE! Picking Michaels up, Tomko grabs him by the hair ... AND THROWS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE --- BUT MICHAELS SOMEHOW REMAINS ON THE APRON! Tomko, thinking he’s made Mr McMahon proud, walks away, turning his back to Michaels and walking straight into a BIG forearm from Benoit. Benoit then staggers Tomko all of the way back to the corner, scoring with some MAJOR chops, cornering him. Meanwhile Michaels remains down, while Helms and Chavo, along with Lashley and Burchill, continue to try to eliminate each other in the corners, attempting to gain any leverage they can unsuccessfully, with the clock now counting down once again ...

ENTRANT #15: REY MYSTERIO @ 19:30

The crowd rises to their feet with a huge pop as the smallest man in the match, Rey Mysterio runs out onto the stage and down the ramp.

Joey Styles: Here comes Rey Mysterio, and while he may be the smallest man in the match, he has proven time and time again that he can overcome the odds and beat the big dogs.

Tazz: Well if ya’ watched SmackDown! this past Friday, you woulda’ seen that Mr Kennedy thinks otherwise, as he told Mysterio, face ta’ face.

Mysterio comes in like a house on fire, instantly sprinting in and ducking a clothesline attempt from Chris Benoit, before jumping up to the second rope and springboard back, SCORING WITH A CROSS BODY BLOCK! Getting back to his feet, Rey catches a fist from Gregory Helms, then hits a series of his own, sending Helms back into the ropes, before sending him off with an Irish whip and catching him with a hurricanrana on the rebound! Paul Burchill is the next to come at Mysterio, looking for a clothesline, which Mysterio ducks ... BEFORE DROPKICKING BURCHILL IN THE BACK, SENDING HIM DOWN ACROSS THE SECOND ROPE! The fans give a huge pop as Mysterio runs off to the ropes, then rebounds back ... BAM! TOMKO COMES OUT OF NOWHERE WITH A FALLING CLOTHESLINE! Smirking, Tomko gets back to his feet, looking down upon Rey, before slowly bending over, picking him up and scooping him onto his shoulders. Tomko now walks around the ring ... BEFORE WALKING TOWARDS THE ROPES AND ATTEMPTING TO THROW REY OVER THEM --- BUT REY GETS HIS LEGS AROUND TOMKO’S SHOULDERS --- AND SENDS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE WITH A HURRICANRANA, WHILE REY LANDS ON THE APRON!

ELIMINATION #8: TYSON TOMKO BY REY MYSTERIO @ 20:33

Tomko can’t believe it as he starts to argue with the referee, while Mysterio looks down, amazed he survived. He then looks towards the ring and sees a recovered Helms getting up ... Rey springboards in ... SEATED SENTON ON HELMS! Rey hits the mat running and rebounds off the ropes towards Lashley, who has staggered towards the middle of the ring ... MYSTERIO GETS INTO A WHEELBARROW POSITION, LOOKING FOR THE BULLDOG --- BUT LASHLEY THROWS HIM OVER WITH A HUGE GERMAN SUPLEX! Lashley roars with intensity, the only man standing ... ENTRANT #16: CHRIS MASTERS @ 21:00

The crowd reacts with some decent heat as Chris Masters walks out onto the stage, taking a few moments to do his usual posing, before walking confidently down to the ring.

Joey Styles: With everyone in the ring down now, this young man, ‘The Masterpiece’ finds himself in a very good position.

Tazz: And I like Masters, Joey. There’s a lotta’ upside to this kid, and you’re right, he has found himself in a good position here. Can he capitalise?

Climbing into the ring, the narcissistic Masters sees everybody around him down, prompting him to smirk, walking around in the destruction for a moment, before picking his target: Shawn Michaels. Standing over Michaels, Masters continues to smirk away, before raising his hands up into the air and calling for his patented Masterlock. Slowly but surely, Michaels starts to show some life, getting to his hands and knees ... WHEN MASTERS SUDDENLY GRABS AT HIM, PROMPTING MICHAELS TO RUSH UP AND RUN TO THE CORNER --- THEN RUN UP THE TURNBUCKLE AND FLIP THROUGH! Both men then get up, and Michaels goes back to basics, SLAPPING the giant pectoral muscles of Masters. Masters goes staggering back and turns right into Chris Benoit, who also scores with a HUGE chop on Masters, before Benoit and Michaels push Masters back into the ropes and send him off with an Irish whip ... SCORING WITH A DOUBLE CHOP ON THE REBOUND!

Masters goes right down to the mat as Benoit then DRIVES the air out of Michaels with a knee lift, before taking him across to the corner and beginning to work him over, looking to lift him over the top rope. Meanwhile Bobby Lashley and Paul Burchill have started to brawl in another corner, while Gregory Helms takes a breather, and Chavo hits some shoulder thrusts on Rey in the corner. Dragging Rey across to the centre of the ring by the mask, Chavo then SMASHES the jaw of Mysterio with a European uppercut, before scoring with a second one and sending Mysterio off with an Irish whip. Mysterio, as quickly as ever, dashes off to the ropes and bounces back, although that works against him as Chavo DRIVES his feet into the jaw of Mysterio with a beautiful missile dropkick. Getting to his knees, Chavo begins to pick Mysterio up as the counter starts up again ...

ENTRANT #17: KANE @ 22:30

The arena truly heats up, as one half of the World Tag Team Champions, ‘The Big Red Machine’ Kane lumbers down to the ring.

Joey Styles: Through hellfire and brimstone, it’s ‘The Monster’ Kane, the man who in 2001, made a record eleven – that is eleven eliminations!

Tazz: And for those guys in the ring this cannot be good, y’know, Joey.

With Kane slowly walking down to the ring, we’re still with Chavo as he picks Rey up, then kicks him in the midsection, before hooking him for a suplex, perhaps looking for the Three Amigos ... but Rey goes behind him and hits a dropkick to the back ... SENDING CHAVO DOWN ACROSS THE SECOND ROPE! Dashing off to the ropes quickly, Rey looks to take advantage ... 619 --- NO, CHAVO DUCKS --- AND REY GETS HIS HEAD KICKED IN BY KANE AS HE SPINS BACK INTO THE RING! Having immediately made an impact, people quickly take notice of Kane, with Gregory Helms charging ... BAM! Kane takes him down with a right hand. Chris Masters is the next to cop a right hand, before Shawn Michaels cops it and Chris Benoit charges at Kane ... HUGE UPPERCUT TO BENOIT! Chavo Guerrero then charges at Kane ... ENTRANT #18: JOHNNY NITRO @ 24:00

Nitro confidently strides out onto the top of the stage with Melina attached to his arm, stopping to pose for photos before walking down the ramp.

Joey Styles: Joey Mercury is already gone, but MNM have their second shot at Royal Rumble glory right here with Johnny Nitro, and boy do you know they’d be bragging about it all the way back to Hollywood.

Tazz: Y’know, I was actually gonna’ do out with them some time. Maybe I will tonight if Nitro can win this thing.

After walking down the ramp to the ring, Nitro peels off his sunnies and coat ... but also decides NOT to climb into the ring, leaving the battle of the titans to continue instead. Having got the advantage over Lashley courtesy of an uppercut, Kane backs Lashley back into the ropes, then sends him off with an Irish whip, looking for a big boot on the rebound, only for Lashley to duck ... THEN RUN STRAIGHT THROUGH KANE WITH A HUGE SPEAR ON THE REBOUND! The crowd pops big for Lashley as he gets back to his feet and postures for the crowd ... but then he gets CLUBBED with a forearm from behind by Nitro ... THAT DOESN’T AFFECT HIM! Having slid into the ring for a sneak attack, Nitro’s eyes pop out of his head when Lashley no sells his attack, as he then goes to run away from the turning Lashley ... but Lashley grabs him by the hair and drags him back! Pleading with Lashley, Nitro tries to get out of trouble, only for Lashley to shake his head and UNLOAD with a flurry of right hands, sending Nitro staggering back into the ropes, before sending him off with an Irish whip and going for a back body drop on the rebound ... BUT NITRO LANDS ON HIS FEET --- LOW BLOW! NITRO SENDS LASHLEY DOWN WITH A LOW BLOW!

Smirking at his handiwork, Nitro finally has the advantage over Lashley as he now gets into a mount position and POUNDS away with right hand after right hand, SMASHING the face of Lashley in. Finally relenting, Nitro climbs off the mount and leaves Lashley to roll off to the side of the ring, posing as he does so, while for the umpteenth time, the countdown begins ...

ENTRANT #19: MATT HARDY @ 25:30

The crowd erupts with a HUGE pop for Matt Hardy, who walks out onto the stage and throws up the ‘V1’ sign, before running down the ramp.

Joey Styles: This man Matt Hardy is one of the most promising kids I’ve seen in the wrestling business, and this could well be his year this year.

Tazz: And he said he’d want to make it this year this past Friday, but after MNM went after him on Friday, I think Matt’s more concerned about takin’ Nitro out right now.

Tazz pretty much hits the nail on the head as Hardy slides under the bottom rope and goes right after Nitro, SLAMMING him down with a double leg takedown, before looking to go to work on the handsome facial features of Nitro with some WILD right hands! Struggling up to his feet, Nitro can find no reprieve Hardy hits a few more rights, then sends him off with an Irish whip ... BEFORE CATCHING HIM WITH THE SIDE EFFECT ON THE REBOUND! Getting back up to his feet, Hardy signals for the crowd to get behind him, which they do as Nitro gets up ... AND HARDY HOOKS NITRO FOR THE TWIST OF FATE --- BUT NITRO PUSHES HIM OFF TO THE ROPES AS HE TURNS --- ONLY FOR HARDY TO HOLD ONTO THE ROPES AND NITRO TO CHARGE IN AT HIM --- BACK BODY DROP FROM HARDY ON NITRO OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #11: JOHNNY NITRO BY MATT HARDY @ 26:16

WITH HARDY SUDDENLY TUMBLING OUT TO THE FLOOR AFTER HER AS HELMS SNEAKS UP BEHIND HIM AND THROWS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE!

ELIMINATION #12: MATT HARDY BY GREGORY HELMS @ 26:42

Smirking, Helms is very happy as he looks down at the shocked Hardy, while Nitro and Melina briskly leave ringside. Having now grabbed a microphone, Kennedy paces around ringside.

Mr Kennedy: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, to wrestling, history. You see, tonight – tonight, you witness not just the return, but you also witness the ascent to the main event of WrestleMania 22 of a man who comes from Green Bay, Wisconsin ... a man who weighs an astonishing 246 lbs ... MIS – TAH ... KEN – NAH – DAY!

KK pauses for a moment.

Mr Kennedy: KENNEDY!

With that said, Kennedy now slides into the ring and WHACKS Rey Mysterio square in the face with the microphone, before tossing it from the ring. With Benoit and Helms having moved off to the corner, Kennedy is left centre stage to stomp away on Mysterio, the man who embarrassed him two nights ago on SmackDown!, and the man who Kennedy obviously wants vengeance on. Changing up, Kennedy quickly climbs down into a mount position and RAINS down on Mysterio with a BARRAGE of big rights hands, hitting him time and time again. With the Michaels/Masters and Kane/Lashley pairings also occupying the corners, Kennedy is left to continue on his assault on Mysterio in the centre of the ring for now, before lifting him up and THROWING him down across the second rope, CHOKING him with the rope, thanks to his knee pressing the neck of Mysterio down.

Keeping his onslaught going, Kennedy now runs off to the opposite ropes and rebounds back, before launching himself towards Mysterio ... ONLY FOR REY TO MOVE AT THE LAST MOMENT, LEAVING KENNEDY TO CRASH AND BURN! After falling off the second rope and bouncing back onto the back of his head with a whiplash like effect, Kennedy rolls around the ring in pain, holding the back of his neck, while Mysterio also slowly regroups down on the mat. Meanwhile Chris Masters and Shawn Michaels move away from the corner, with Masters sending Michaels off with an Irish whip ... THEN GETTING HIM UP IN A MILITARY PRESS AND THROWING HIM DOWN TO THE MAT ON THE REBOUND! Flexing his muscles, Masters stands over the fallen Michaels, as not for the first time tonight, we get the ever familiar countdown start back up ...

ENTRANT #21: CARLITO @ 28:30

The cool star from the Caribbean, Carlito makes his way out, tossing his apple up and down, before running down to the ring.

Joey Styles: Three weeks ago, Carlito earned his spot in this match when he and ‘The Masterpiece’ left Shawn Michaels laying in a pool of his own blood for Mr McMahon. Could he do the same thing again tonight and make Mr McMahon proud?

Tazz: Well we know Carlito’s a bit of a suck up, so he that might be what he’s lookin’ to try to do.

Sliding into the ring, Carlito walks right over to Chris Masters and pats the big man on the chest, telling him that they should work together. ‘Lito then points to Mysterio in the corner, and Masters advances across, before scoring with some BIG knee thrusts, DRIVING his knee into Rey time and time again while Carlito, well, watches. Having sent Mysterio down to the mat, Masters is now instructed by Masters to go after Gregory Helms, who is hanging off the ropes, which Masters does as he kicks Helms in the midsection, then sends him off with an Irish whip, before catching him with a backbreaker on the rebound, CONTORTING Helms’ body. As Masters looks down at Helms with pleasure, a crack is suddenly heard, as behind Masters, Chris Benoit has unloaded with a HUGE chop. Hitting another chop, Benoit is hammered in the back of the head by Masters once ‘The Masterpiece’ realised what was taking place, before Masters sends Benoit off with an Irish whip and SMASHES him in the jaw on the rebound with a Polish hammer. Holing his chest with a pissed off look on his face, Carlito tells Masters to finish the job, which Masters does as Benoit staggers back to his feet ... GETTING HIM UP IN A MILITARY PRESS --- AND THROWING HIM UP OVER THE TOP ROPE AND DOWN TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #13: CHRIS BENOIT BY CHRIS MASTERS @ 29:39

Smirking, ‘Lito now instructs Masters to go back after Shawn Michaels in the corner, which he does, charging in and DRILLING his knee right into the midsection of Michaels, before UNLOADING on him with a succession of right hands. While the other participants are either down, or in the corners trying to gain leverage on one another, Masters continues his assault on Michaels, Carlito looking on with a sense of satisfaction as we begin yet another countdown ...

ENTRANT #22: ROB VAN DAM @ 30:00

The roof is BLOWN OFF the American Airlines Arena, as the music of the returning Rob Van Dam begins, with ‘Mr Pay-Per-View’ stepping out not long after to an even BIGGER ovation. RVD smiles, then jogs down the ramp and rolls into the ring.

Joey Styles: ROB VAN DAM! The ECW original, ‘Mr Monday Night’, ‘Mr Pay-Per-View’, ‘The Whole Damn Show’, Rob Van Dam is BACK, AND LISTEN TO THE OVATION HE’S GETTING!

Tazz: Carlito looks like he’s seen a ghost!

Looking up in shock, Carlito can’t believe his luck: the man who drew the number after him was the very same man that he sidelined for an extra six months last June. Yelling at Masters frantically, Carlito turns his attention across to RVD as Van Dam runs straight towards Carlito, though Masters gets in the way and goes for a clothesline ... which Van Dam ducks ... THEN REBOUNDS BACK WITH A SPINNING HEEL KICK! The crowd goes nuts as Masters goes down, though RVD still can’t get to Carlito, as Gregory Helms now charges out of the corner and catches a spin kick for his trouble, sending him down. The next to come out is Rey Mysterio, who also suffers a spin kick. RVD then charges into the corner where ‘HBK’ leans and NAILS some shoulder thrusts, before backflipping out of the corner ... and hitting one final shoulder thrust! Turning, RVD sees Bobby Lashley coming towards him, so he steps to the side and sends Lashley down with a drop toe hold ... AND LASHLEY GOES STRAIGHT DOWN INTO THE CROTCH OF MICHAELS!

Kennedy is the next to come at RVD, as he tries for a kick to the midsection, but RVD catches it ... AND STRIKES WITH THE STEP OVER SPINNING HEEL KICK! Getting back to his feet, RVD points towards the corner, then jumps up to the top rope ... AND KICKS A GROGGY KANE RIGHT ON THE BUTTON WITH A THRUST KICK! Getting back to his feet, RVD sees Carlito is the only man still standing, having watched everything take place, as he now advances on Carlito ... BUT CHRIS MASTERS DRILLS RVD IN THE BACK WITH A BIG FOREARM! Following a kick to the midsection of RVD, Masters then runs off to the ropes and goes for a clothesline, which Van Dam ducks ... BEFORE HITTING A SPIN KICK TO THE CHEST THAT SENDS MASTERS OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT!

ELIMINATION #14: CHRIS MASTERS BY ROB VAN DAM @ 31:24

Taking advantage of the situation, Carlito now charges across and DRILLS RVD with a big forearm to the back, sending him down as the countdown starts up again ...

ENTRANT #23: JOHN ‘BRADSHAW’ LAYFIELD @ 31:30

The crowd unleashes with some intense heat as a limousine quickly drives out to the ramp and the chauffeur climbs out, opening a door so that John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield can climb out and jog down to join the action.

Joey Styles: JBL is a former WWE Champion, and Tazz, after drawing a number in the twenties, you have to believe he’s got a real shot here.

Tazz: Spot on there, Joey. JBL’s a brawler, so he’s just gotta’ got in there and do his thing.

As Carlito continues to kick away at RVD, JBL slides into the ring and sees Bobby Lashley as the first man (almost) up, running across to DRILL him with some rights, before moving elsewhere and seeing Kane getting up, who he also gives the same treatment. Layfield then goes back to Lashley and hits a few more shots, before going back to Kane and doing the same. However, much to the dismay of Layfield, the shots seem to have no effect as Kane simply stands up through them, causing a startled Layfield to back away ... RIGHT INTO LASHLEY! Looking back and forth, JBL knows he’s got himself in a tough spot here ... so he pokes both men in the eye! Smiling, JBL now runs off to the ropes and rebounds back, gaining as much momentum as possible ... only to be taken down with a double shoulder block with ease! Lashley then picks JBL up off the mat and Irish whips him into the corner, before Kane charges in and SQUASHES Layfield with a corner clothesline ... and Lashley does the same! With Layfield falling to the mat, there is seemingly a mutual respect between the two titans ... UNTIL KANE KICKS LASHLEY SQUARE IN THE JAW! Staggering back to the ropes in both shock and pain, Lashley looks out of it, prompting Kane to charge at him ... BUT LASHLEY BACK BODY DROPS THE BIG MAN OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #15: KANE BY BOBBY LASHLEY @ 32:44

As mini-brawls continue around the ring – most notably Carlito trying to eliminate RVD in the corner without any success – Lashley looks down at Kane with a look of steely determination in his eyes, as the countdown begins again ...

ENTRANT #24: BIG SHOW @ 33:00

The crowd gives a decent pop as ‘The World’s Largest Athlete’, Big Show walks down to the ring.

Joey Styles: Bobby Lashley just eliminated one half of the World Tag Team Champions, but he may regret it now, as here comes the other half.

Tazz: And unlike usual, Big Show, he ain’t smilin’. That’s some bad news for Lashley right there.

Laughing manically at ringside, Kane stares up at Lashley, before nodding at Big Show as he makes his way past him and climbs up into the ring. Standing his ground, to his credit, Lashley won’t back down ... in fact, he tells Big Show to “Bring it on!” The crowd pops as Big Show steps forward, looking to lock up with Lashley ... only to DRIVE his knee up into the midriff of Lashley, doubling him over! Smiling, Show CRACKS his head off the skull of Lashley, sending him back, before measuring and connecting with a GIANT sized right hand to Lashley. Staggering back, Lashley looks to be in trouble as Big Show measures for another right ... but Lashley blocks it ... then scores with a HUGE series of his own, backing Big Show up into the ropes! Showing his power, Lashley sends Big Show running off with an Irish whip ... BEFORE CONNECTING WITH A MASSIVE BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX ON THE REBOUND! The crowd are in a state of shock: Big Show has not just been taken off his feet, but he has been THROWN off his feet. Not finished yet, Lashley sees Big Show picking himself up with the ropes and he charges across ... NAILING A HUGE CLOTHESLINE THAT SENDS BIG SHOW OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #16: BIG SHOW BY BOBBY LASHLEY @ 34:08

The crowd, the announcers, even the superstars in the ring; nobody can believe it. Bobby Lashley has eliminated BOTH Kane and the Big Show! Turning around, Lashley sees all of the superstars standing behind him, ALL staring at him, almost as if to say “Does anybody want some?” to which no one replies, as the buzzer now counts down ...

*GOLDLUST*
ENTRANT #25: GOLDUST @ 34:30

The bizarre one, Goldust, makes his way out to a decent pop, walking down the ramp in his usual, erm, weird outfit.

Tazz: I can’t believe what I’ve just seen ... Lashley eliminated the Big Show all by himself! What hope can Goldust have?

Joey Styles: Well, Goldust is a veteran, though if Bobby Lashley keeps going like that, I’d suggest next to none.

Climbing up onto the apron, Goldust takes his robe and wig off, throwing them away, before climbing into the ring ... AND BEING INSTANTLY CLOTHESLINED OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR BY BOBBY LASHLEY!

ELIMINATION #17: GOLDUST BY BOBBY LASHLEY @ 34:41

Fuck off, Goldust. There’ll be no shitty ‘comedy’ distractions here. Lashley now turns around, knowing that no one else will be entering for awhile, and almost dares someone to run at him. Gregory Helms, perhaps showing that he has more guts than brains, takes the opportunity to charge at Lashley, only to be HURLED into the corner by Lashley, prompting action to start up elsewhere, as Carlito looks to land a right hand (which of course means it’ll be blocked since he’s left handed) on RVD, only for it to be blocked, before RVD scores with a BARRAGE of his own rights, backing Carlito all of the way back up across the ring and sending him off with an Irish whip instantly. Bouncing back off the ropes, Carlito runs straight into a spinning heel kick ... BEFORE RVD POINTS TO THE CORNER! TO A HUGE OVATION, RVD WALKS ACROSS TO THE CORNER AND SPRINGS UP TO THE TOP ROPE, LOOKING DOWN AT ‘LITO --- FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH! The spring is still in the old legs, as RVD DRIVES his body from up in the heavens, down into the torso of Carlito. Both men roll around in pain, Carlito headed for the ropes to pick himself up ... AND VAN DAM CHARGES ACROSS, THEN SENDS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT WITH A CLOTHESLINE!

ELIMINATION #18: CARLITO BY ROB VAN DAM @ 35:48

Looking around the arena to some big cheers, RVD raises his arms, and parades to the crowd, soaking in their adulation as the countdown begins ...

ENTRANT #26: RANDY ORTON @ 36:00

The crowd boos aggressively as the conceited ‘Legend Killer’ Randy Orton walks out onto the top of the stage, then jogs down to the ring.

Joey Styles: Tazz, here’s your pick, from Friday Night SmackDown!, ‘The Legend Killer’ Randy Orton!

Tazz: Orton proved this past Friday night that he could win this thing with a win in the preview Battle Royal, and even with Lashley in the form he’s in, my money’s still on my man Orton.

Despite the presence of Orton’s music, RVD can’t help but continue to pander to the crowd, now doing his signature taunt as the crowd chant along “R ... V ...” RKO! ORTON TURNS RVD AROUND AND IMMEDIATELY STRIKES WITH THE RKO! Looking down at RVD with a sense of fulfilment, Orton looks for his next victim, who looks to be Bobby Lashley as Orton pulls him away from Gregory Helms ... AND NAILS HIM WITH THE RKO! Helms, happy Lashley has been dealt with, nods at Orton ... then extends his hand to Orton ... ONLY TO EAT AN RKO HIMSELF! Orton is on an absolute rampage as ‘HBK’ now backs into the centre of the ring ... AND GETS TURNED RIGHT INTO AN RKO! Orton, still not content with the destruction he has caused, now stalks Rey Mysterio, who is picking himself up with the ropes, before turning ... RKO --- NO, REY PUSHES ORTON OFF! Orton, angered that someone DARE to counter him, charges back at Rey and goes for a clothesline ... BUT REY DUCKS AND DROPKICKS ORTON IN THE BACK --- SENDING HIM DOWN OVER THE SECOND ROPE! Looking to finally hit his big move, Rey runs off to the opposite ropes ... ALTHOUGH MR KENNEDY COMES OUT OF NOWHERE WITH A BACK BODY DROP --- AND REY LANDS ON THE APRON! KENNEDY TURNS AROUND AND RECEIVES A SHOULDER THRUST THROUGH THE ROPES, BEFORE REY STICKS HIS HEAD BETWEEN KENNEDY’S LEGS --- AND BACK BODY DROPS HIM OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #19: MR KENNEDY BY REY MYSTERIO @ 37:17

Kennedy can’t believe it, as he has again been embarrassed by Mysterio, who continuing his work, springboards back into the ring ... AND TAKES JBL DOWN WITH A SEATED SENTON! Coming back, Mysterio then NAILS a low dropkick to the side of the head of JBL, as the countdown starts up again ...

*MEDAL*
ENTRANT #27: KURT ANGLE @ 37:30

A bloodied Kurt Angle now madly dashes straight down to the ring, wanting to join the action, despite being jumped by someone in the back.

Joey Styles: Kurt Angle has got to have more guts than brains! Angle is bleeding bucket loads of blood, he can’t even run in straight line – yet here he is!

Tazz: But the question is why is Kurt Angle in this condition? Who attacked him backstage?

Angle, being the mad fucker that he is, no sells blood, at least to begin with, as when a charging Gregory Helms comes at him, he ducks a clothesline, THEN DRILLS HIM WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX! Getting to his feet, Angle gives Van Dam the same treatment, ducking a clothesline from him before DUMPING him on his head. Angle’s next target is Bobby Lashley, who is doubled over and facing away from Angle, leaving Angle to run up and THROW him overhead with a big time German suplex. Intense as all hell, Angle gets up and sees JBL staggering towards him ... ANGLE SLAM! KURT ANGLE SENDS JBL DOWN WITH THE ANGLE SLAM! Rey Mysterio is the next one brave (/stupid) enough to charge at Angle ... AND HE EATS AN ANGLE SLAM FOR HIS TROUBLES TOO! Kurt Angle has damn near torn the house down as he gets back to his feet and PULLS DOWN THE STRAPS, BELLOWING OUT A PRIMAL ROAR ... ONLY TO BE TAKEN DOWN WITH SWEET CHIN MUSIC! SHAWN MICHAELS STRIKES OUT OF NOWHERE WITH SWEET CHIN MUSIC!

Sending his old rival down, Michaels stares at Angle, before trying to drag Angle across to the ropes in hope of eliminating him ... BUT ANGLE IS DEAD WEIGHT AT THIS STAGE! Shawn’s Sweet Chin Music was seemingly the finishing blow, as Angle is out, with Michaels unable to drag him too far at all. Persisting, Michaels shows his stubbornness, although it comes back to bite him in the ass, as Randy Orton charges across and DRILLS Michaels with a big right, sending Michaels staggering back, before cornering him and UNLOADING with a series of rights, as once again, the familiar countdown begins ...

ENTRANT #28: RIC FLAIR @ 39:00

The icon, the legend, the future Hall of Famer, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair receives a huge ovation as he jogs down to the ring, not taking the time tonight to style and profile.

Joey Styles: Two weeks ago, in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ric Flair came so close to defeating Edge and becoming world champion for the seventeenth time. If he wins tonight, he will get a second chance against Edge, and after the first time those two met, that’s certainly something to look forward to if it happens.

Tazz: I saw Flair challenge Edge, and I gotta’ say, I was impressed. I didn’t think Flair still had it in him, but I believe he can still become the world champion.

Rolling into the ring, Flair instantly draws the attention of ‘The Legend Killer’, who turns to Flair and gets lit up with a trademark ‘Nature Boy’ chop, the sound of which reverberates throughout the arena. The next to turn to Flair is RVD, who gets JOLTED with a chop, as does Flair’s next victim, Bobby Lashley. Rey Mysterio also staggers towards Flair, only to be chopped right down to the ground. Getting up groggily, JBL turns to Flair and gets kicked in the midsection ... THEN GRABBED BY THE TIGHTS, AS FLAIR RUNS JBL TO THE ROPES AND THROWS HIM UP OVER THE TOP --- BUT JBL LANDS ON THE APRON! Turning away from JBL, Flair doesn’t notice JBL falling to the apron, as he instead runs off to the opposite rope and CHOPS at the knee of the rising Gregory Helms with a chop block. Stagging Helms, Flair follows up by grabbing him by the leg that he just chop blocked, and lifting him into the air, before CRUNCHING his leg with a shinbreaker. Sending Helms down with a MIGHTY chop, Flair begins to style and profile around the legs of Helms, before letting out a huge “WOOOO~!” ... AND TWISTING AROUND THE LEG OF HELMS TO LOCK IN THE FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK --- BAM! JBL COMES OUT OF NOWHERE AND DRILLS FLAIR WITH A CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL!

Proud of himself, Layfield looks down at Flair for a moment, before lifting him up, pushing him back into the corner and BARRAGING him with an amazing series of stiff rights hands, perhaps as revenge for Flair attempting to eliminate him. While this is all going on, we once again get the countdown clock, this being the penultimate time it occurs ...

ENTRANT #29: THE UNDERTAKER @ 40:30

The crowd pops big as the lights in the American Airlines Arena go out, with the awe-inspiring entrance of The Undertaker taking the focus of both the crowd and the men in the ring.

Joey Styles: ‘The Phenom’ The Undertaker has never won the Royal Rumble Match, however, tonight he enters the match at number twenty-nine, and you have got to believe that if there is a favourite at this time, it is The Undertaker.

Tazz: No kiddin’, Styles. Look in the ring: every single man is watchin’ The Undertaker come down to the ring, and are in awe of his presence.

Slowly but surely, The Undertaker makes his way into the ring, climbing up into it, instantly attracting a crowd as JBL is the first to charge at him and be sent packing courtesy of a BIG right hand. Rights then come for Shawn Michaels, Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam, with The Undertaker not only taking on all challengers, but also winning. JBL gets back to his feet and, in a dazed manner, staggers towards The Undertaker, receiving a kick to the midsection ... BEFORE BEING GRABBED AND THROWN OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT OF THE MATCH!

ELIMINATION #20: JOHN ‘BRADSHAW’ LAYFIELD BY THE UNDERTAKER @ 41:00

Turning right back around, ‘Taker is still attracting a crowd as Helms charges towards ‘Taker again, only to have a boot FIRMLY PLANTED right into his mush, sending him right back down. Grabbing Lashley as he gets up, ‘Taker Irish whips ‘The Real Deal’ into the corner, then charges in after him and SQUASHES him with a corner clothesline. Rey Mysterio is the next to come towards ‘Taker, as ‘The Deadman’ scoops him up, then runs him across to the opposite corner, DROPPING him face first with snake eyes, before dashing across to the ropes and rebound back with a MASSIVE big boot to Mysterio, sending the little man down to the mat in a heap. Holding his giant mitt up now, The Undertaker signals that it’s time for the Chokeslam, waiting for the unlucky soul to stagger towards him ... when almost on cue, Shawn Michaels does just that ... AND ‘TAKER GRABS HIS HUGE HAND AROUND HIS THROAT --- WHEN SUDDENLY, RVD COMES FLYING THROUGH THE AIR AND HITS A THRUST KICK RIGHT TO THE JAW OF ‘TAKER, SENDING ‘TAKER, MICHAELS AND HIMSELF ALL DOWN! *THE GAME*
ENTRANT #30: TRIPLE H @ 42:00

The crowd gives some very, very nice heat as ‘The Game’ strides out onto the top of the stage, before spitting his water up into the air, throwing the water bottle away and sprinting on down into the ring.

Joey Styles: Well, we knew who this would be. Thanks to a deal with Eric Bischoff, Triple H finds himself in prime position to win this year’s Royal Rumble, and he’s gonna’ take some stopping.

Tazz: I don’t understand. Why does Eric Bischoff get the number thirty pick to give away? Someone from SmackDown! shoulda’ had it if you ask me ... not that we need it.

Coming into the ring, Triple H is on fire as he first HURLS a right Lashley’s way, before connecting with one on RVD too. Going for Rey Mysterio next, Tripper NAILS him with a series of rights, then pushes him back against the ropes and attempts to send him off with an Irish whip, only for Rey to reverse, then double over for a back body drop ... FACEBUSTER FROM TRIPLE H! Triple H quickly follows up by running off into the ropes to gain some momentum, rebounding back ... HIGH KNEE TO MYSTERIO! Triple H is dominating, with Gregory Helms now charging towards him ... DOUBLE A SPINEBUSTER! TRIPLE H PLANTS HELMS WITH A DOUBLE A SPINEBUSTER! Getting back to his feet, Triple H does his classic pose, before grabbing Ric Flair around the skull ... AND THROWING HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #21: RIC FLAIR BY TRIPLE H @ 42:45

Turning around, Triple H looks around the ring to see superstars scattered around the mat, picking out his next target to be ... Shawn Michaels! Despite having told Mr McMahon earlier he wouldn’t go out of his way to go after Michaels, ‘The Game’ now waits as Michaels uses the ropes to pull himself up, giving his back to Triple H ... BEFORE TURNING RIGHT INTO A KICK TO THE MIDSECTION --- DOUBLE UNDERHOOK --- BACK BODY DROP! MICHAELS COUNTERS WITH A BACK BODY DROP! Getting back to his feet quickly, Triple H rushes right back at a tired Michaels, though he gets SLAPPED across the chest with a few knife edge chops from Michaels, staggering him back into the ropes, with Michaels looking to follow up with an Irish whip, only for Tripper to reverse ... BUT MICHAELS HITS A FLYING FOREARM ON THE REBOUND ... AND KIPS BACK UP TO HIS FEET! The crowd goes nuts as Michaels grabs a rising Triple H and hits an inverted atomic drop, before DROPPING him with a few rights and scooping him up, and then SLAMMING him down in the middle of the ring.

Looking up, Michaels almost prays to the heavens, before heading across to the corner and going up to the top rope. Perched, Michaels looks down at Hunter, ready to strike ... AND HE DOES JUST THAT, SCORING WITH THE DIVING ELBOW DROP! Both the crowd and Shawn Michaels are in an absolute frenzy as ‘HBK’ gets back up to his feet ... AND BEGINS TO TOOT UP THE BAND! Slowly, an unsuspecting Triple H starts to show life, as Michaels continues to rally the crowd ... WHEN HE’S SUDDENLY TRIPPED AND DRAGGED FROM THE RING --- BY SHANE MCMAHON! SHANE MCMAHON HAS DRAGGED MICHAELS OUT UNDER THE BOTTOM ROPE – THUS NOT ELIMINATING HIM – AND DRILLED HIM WITH A KENDO STICK TO THE MIDSECTION! Following up, Shane drops the kendo stick ... THEN IRISH WHIPS SHAWN INTO THE STEEL STEPS, CAUSING HIS BODY TO CRUMPLE INTO A HEAP UPON IMPACT! The heat is MONSTROUS as Shane now picks Michaels up and slides him into the ring, grabbing his kendo stick as he then slides back into the ring too.

Measuring Shawn, Shane dances around the ring confidently with his stick, no one moving, as no one wants to interrupt the son of the boss. Shawn now slowly starts to get back to his feet, obviously in a lot of pain ... AS SHANE NOW SWINGS AT SHAWN --- BUT SHAWN DUCKS --- AND SHANE DRILLS TRIPLE H, WHO WAS LEANING AGAINST THE ROPES! TURNING AROUND TO FACE SHAWN QUICKLY, SHANE LOOKS TO STRIKE AGAIN --- SWEET CHIN MUSIC! SHAWN HITS SHANE WITH SWEET CHIN MUSIC --- AND SHANE FALLS INTO TRIPLE H, SENDING BOTH MEN OVER THE TOP ROPE!

ELIMINATION #22: TRIPLE H BY SHAWN MICHAELS @ 45:03

THE CROWD CAN’T BELIEVE IT! Shawn Michaels has overcome Shane McMahon, as he now leans over the top rope and SPITS on Shane ... ONLY FOR GREGORY HELMS TO RUSH UP BEHIND SHAWN AND THROW HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE!

ELIMINATION #23: SHAWN MICHAELS BY GREGORY HELMS @ 45:15

Oh Greg, you old buzzkiller you. The crowd’s reaction has done a complete 180, as they now boo the shit out of Helms, who smirks at what he’s done ... BEFORE TURNING INTO A HUGE RIGHT HANDS FROM THE UNDERTAKER! ‘Taker absolutely UNLOADS on Helms, pushing him back into the corner with his rights, only to continue the ONSLAUGHT once he has Helms cornered. While other mini brawls break out and others rest, ‘Taker continues to lay the pain in on Helms, before Irish whipping him off across to the opposite corner, charging in ... AND COPPING A BOOT TO THE JAW! Stagger back, ‘Taker is in clear pain as Helms quickly goes up to the second rope, then jumps at ‘Taker ... BUT HE GETS CAUGHT BY THE THROAT! SEEING RVD ALSO STAGGERING AROUND, ‘TAKER GRABS HIM WITH THE OTHER HAND, LOOKING FOR A DOUBLE CHOKESLAM --- BUT HELMS AND RVD KICK THEIR WAY OUT OF TROUBLE, SENDING ‘TAKER STAGGERING BACK TO THE ROPES!

Not wanting to be the first to go after ‘Taker, Helms smartly pushes RVD towards him ... AND ‘TAKER BACK BODY DROPS RVD OVER THE TOP ROPE --- BUT RVD LANDS ON THE APRON! TURNING, ‘TAKER GETS A KICK TO THE SIDE OF THE HEAD, STAGGERING HIM BACK INTO THE CORNER --- BEFORE HE EXPLODES OUT OF IT AND SCORES WITH A CLOTHESLINE, SENDING RVD DOWN TO THE FLOOR IN A HEAP!

ELIMINATION #24: ROB VAN DAM BY THE UNDERTAKER @ 46:26

Turning around, ‘Taker finds himself on the receiving end of a HARD right hand from Gregory Helms, who shows no fear in backing ‘Taker into the corner with some rights. Elsewhere in another corner, Lashley and Angle jostle for position, looking to eliminate one another, while Orton also SNAPS the head of Mysterio back time and time again with a series of European uppercuts. Having weakened Mysterio, Orton now drags him off to the centre of the ropes, then sends him off with an Irish whip, although on the rebound Mysterio scoots right through between the legs of Orton with a baseball slide. Turning to a rising Mysterio, Orton gets CRACKED in the hamstring with a big kick from the man from the 619. Following up, Rey hits a few more quick kicks, SMACKING the hamstrings of Orton, before running off to the ropes and bouncing back into a wheelbarrow ... BULLDOG! MYSTERIO SMASHES ORTON’S FACE INTO THE MAT WITH A BULLDOG! Getting back to his feet, Mysterio ducks an oncoming clothesline attempt from Gregory Helms, then runs off to the ropes ... AND COMES BACK WITH A SENSATIONAL SPRINGBOARD MOONSAULT, TAKING HELMS DOWN!

As he tries to get back to his feet, Mysterio is turned around by The Undertaker and grabbed by the throat ... WITH ‘TAKER LOOKING FOR THE CHOKESLAM --- BUT MYSTERIO COMES OUT OF NOWHERE WITH A TORNADO DDT AS HE IS LIFTED, SMASHING THE UNDERTAKER’S FACE DOWN INTO THE MAT! Getting right back up, Rey is on fire as Kurt Angle now charges at him ... DROP TOE HOLD! MYSTERIO SENDS ANGLE DOWN ACROSS THE SECOND ROPE! Looking out to the crowd, Rey dashes across to the opposite ropes, rebounds of them ... AND COMES BACK TO SCORE WITH THE 619! MYSTERIO SENDS ANGLE ALL OF THE WAY BACK TO THE MIDDLE OF THE RING! As a groggy Angle starts to get up, Rey leaps up to the top rope ... AND RANDY ORTON SPRINGS OUT OF NOWHERE AND GRABS THE HEAD OF MYSTERIO, SNAPPING IT OFF THE TOP ROPE WITH AN RKO, SENDING MYSTERIO OUT TO THE FLOOR BELOW!

ELIMINATION #25: REY MYSTERIO BY RANDY ORTON @ 48:13

Smirking following his elimination of Rey Mysterio, Orton is suddenly turned and snapped back into reality as Bobby Lashley SMASHES him in the jaw with a big right hand. Not one to waste time, Lashley hits another few BIG rights, backing Orton up against the ropes, before attempting to send him off with an Irish whip, which Orton is able to reverse and send Lashley off ... with Lashley scoring with a clothesline on the rebound! Getting back up, Orton is immediately taken down by a second clothesline, before Lashley then THROWS a rising Orton overhead with a back body drop. With everyone else still down following the onslaught of Mysterio, Lashley is able to wait as Orton pulls himself off the mat, before sending him FLYING through the air and down to the mat with a belly to belly suplex, shaking the ring. Moving back to the corner, Lashley now squats down, measuring Orton as he slowly starts to get up. Using the ropes, Orton pulls his body up off the mat, getting back to his feet before turning ... AND SEEING BOBBY LASHLEY CHARGING AT HIM FOR A SPEAR --- WHICH HE AVOIDS! LASHLEY CRASHES FACE FIRST INTO THE SECOND TURNBUCKLE!

Holding his face in pain, Lashley slowly turns ... AND ORTON NOW GOES FOR THE RKO --- BUT LASHLEY CATCHES HIM AND HOLDS HIM UP IN A MIDAIR! WALKING ORTON ACROSS TO THE ROPES, LASHLEY ATTEMPTS TO THROW HIM OVER THE TOP, WHICH HE DOES --- BUT ORTON LANDS ON THE APRON! Bending over to try to grab Orton, Lashley looks to finish off the good work that he started ... WHEN GREGORY HELMS RUNS UP BEHIND HIM AND UPENDS HIM, THROWING HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #26: BOBBY LASHLEY BY GREGORY HELMS @ 49:41

We are now down to our final four! The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, and the surprising addition of the young upstart, Gregory Helms! Backing back to a corner, Helms is clearly pleased with himself following that elimination, while Orton too rolls across to a corner, having barely survived. With all four men now on their feet and in different corners, the crowd pops, knowing we are in the homestretch now. One of these four men will be main eventing WrestleMania 22. Not moving for a moment, they all take in what’s happened. The Undertaker looks calm, Kurt Angle feels at his bloodied head, Randy Orton looks at the others with a sense of confidence, while Gregory Helms looks somewhat nervous, his eyes darting between the other three remaining competitors in the match. Slowly, the four men begin to step forward: RAW on one side of the ring, SmackDown! on the other. Staring at one another, they all know how important this moment is as they all take a deep breath ... BEFORE ORTON SUDDENLY JUMPS UNDERTAKER, SCORING WITH A BIG RIGHT!

As Helms does the same, jumping Angle with a right, both fights quickly start to move around the ring, Helms and Angle in the corner, while Orton and ‘Taker look like doing the same ... but ‘Taker blocks a right from Orton and scores with one of his own! The crowd pops as Orton tries again to score with a shot, but again, The Undertaker is able to block, then ROCK Orton with one of his huge right hands. Now ‘Taker sends Orton stumbling all of the way back into the opposite corner to which they were originally headed, before BLASTING him with a series of quick, yet brutal body shots. Having complete control over Orton, The Undertaker now pulls him away from the corner and sends him off running into the other one with an Irish whip. As he looks to follow up, ‘Taker then charges in for a corner clothesline ... but Orton sidesteps his foe at the last second, as ‘Taker goes on to CRASH chest first into the turnbuckle. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Orton sees ‘The Phenom’ staggering back towards him, and he quickly grabs him around the head, then SNAPS down, CONTORING the body of The Undertaker with his inverted backbreaker.

With Orton taking a moment to recover, we see the action in the corner which has turned around, with Angle now NAILING Helms with right hand after right hand, before hooking under his leg and looking to elevate him over the top rope. However, Helms has other ideas as he hooks his arms around the top rope, struggling around against a weakened Angle. Persistent, Angle keeps on task as he is soon interrupted by Randy Orton CLUBBING him in the back with a big forearm, having snuck up on ‘The Olympic Hero’. Tuning Angle around, Orton quickly follows up with a kick to the midsection, before SNAPPING the neck of Angle back with a big European uppercut, sending him staggering into the corner which Gregory Helms just fell out of. With his prey cornered, Orton strikes, DRILLING Angle in the forehead time and time again with a bombardment of rights, continuing to dig into the cut that Angle suffered earlier thanks to a mystery attack backstage. As Angle now slinks down the turnbuckle, Orton looks to change things up, now moving onto the midsection of Angle as he DIGS his boot into the midsection of Angle over and over, finally causing Angle to fall into a seated position.

Unluckily for Angle, Orton still is yet to finish with him, as he now PRESSES his boot down into the windpipe of Angle, choking the life out of him. Gasping for air, Angle tries desperately to push the foot of Orton away to no avail, as ‘The Legend Killer’ only intensifies the pressure, finally stopping when Angle stops struggling. Smiling, Orton bends down slowly and lifts Angle back to his feet, before Irish whipping him into the corner and taking his time before charging in himself ... but Angle EXPLODES out of the corner with a MASSIVE clothesline, sending both men falling down to the mat. All four men are down for a moment, with Angle and Orton the first to stir, while Helms and The Undertaker continue to take the time to rest up in the corners. With both Angle and Orton struggling back to their feet, Orton looks to get the jump on his opponent, attempting to strike with a right hand, although Angle is able to block it, then SMASH Orton with a right of his own. Having then BLASTED Orton with a series of rights, Angle Irish whips Orton off to the ropes, before catching him on the rebound and THROWING him overhead with a big belly to belly suplex. Getting back up, Angle waits on Orton to do the same, which he slowly does, before swinging wildly for a right hand ... GERMAN SUPLEX! Angle ducks the right, then blasts Orton with a German suplex.

Getting back to his feet, Angle looks to the audience, holds his arms out and roars, drawing a big pop ... ONLY FOR GREGORY HELMS TO COME FROM BEHIND HIM WITH A BIG NECKBREAKER! Helms now gets back to his feet and holds his arm up, turning the pop from Angle into heat for Helms, causing a smirk to come across the face of Helms. Looking back down at Angle, Helms notices the Olympian beginning to stir, sitting up, causing Helms to run off to the ropes ... THEN LOOK FOR THE SHINING WIZARD ON THE REBOUND --- BUT ANGLE DUCKS --- THEN GETS HELMS UP IN THE ANGLE SLAM AND SENDS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR WITH IT!

ELIMINATION #27: GREGORY HELMS BY KURT ANGLE @ 54:32

We are now down to three! The crowd goes nuts for the elimination of Helms, as Angle falls back to a seated position near the ropes, as ‘Taker and Orton do the same in the corners. Slowly getting back to his feet, Angle leans back against the ropes, looking from side to side to see Orton and The Undertaker also rising to their feet on opposite sides of the ring. All three warriors then step forward, looking at one another ... before Orton backs away to the corner, leaving ‘Taker and Angle! Smiling, Orton watches as the two stars continue to stare one another down ... BAM! ANGLE DRILLS ‘TAKER WITH A RIGHT HAND! Angle now strikes with a few more right hands, shaking ‘Taker, before running off to the ropes and bouncing back to see ‘Taker attempt a clothesline which he ducks under. Bouncing off the opposite ropes, Angle gets a hell of a lot of momentum going ... ONLY TO RUN STRAIGHT INTO A BIG RIGHT HAND FROM THE UNDERTAKER THAT KNOCKS HIM DOWN TO THE MAT! As a bloodied Kurt Angle gets back to his feet, ‘The Phenom’ strikes him in the midsection with a kick, before twisting his arm around and riskily heading across to the corner ... CLIMBING UP TO THE TOP ROPE AND WALKING IT --- AND SCORING WITH OLD SCHOOL!

As Angle starts to struggle back to his feet, ‘Taker glances at Orton who remains in the corner, before going back after a rising Angle and Irish whipping him into the corner (one of three that Orton is not in). Following Angle in, ‘Taker then SQUASHES the Olympic Gold Medallist with a corner clothesline, before waiting for him to stagger into his range, which Angle does as he gets scooped up then dropped across the top turnbuckle with old school. Not wanting to waste time, ‘The Deadman’ quickly follows up, running off to the ropes before rebounding back and sending his boot STRAIGHT THROUGH the face of Angle with a big boot! As he looks to both the crowd and then Orton in the corner, ‘Taker readies himself, raising his hand up into the air, poising himself to deliver the Chokeslam. As he struggles back to his feet Angle holds his forehead, giving his back to ‘The Deadman’ as he does so, before turning ... AND BEING GRABBED BY THE THROAT --- ALTHOUGH ANGLE QUICKLY STRIKES BACK WITH A KICK TO THE MIDSECTION, THEN GOES FOR THE ANGLE SLAM --- BUT THE UNDERTAKER LANDS BEHIND ANGLE AND THROWS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE --- ONLY FOR ANGLE TO LAND ON THE APRON!

Having seen Angle land on the apron, ‘Taker looks to finish the job, attempting to strike with a right hand which Angle ducks, before SNAPPING the neck of The Undertaker off the top rope with a hot shot. A weary Undertaker stumbles backwards, heading right across to the other side of the ring ... AND RANDY ORTON, WHO GRABS ‘THE DEADMAN’ AND THROWS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND OUT TO THE FLOOR!

ELIMINATION #28: THE UNDERTAKER BY RANDY ORTON @ 57:06

The crowd, none too happy to see The Undertaker eliminated, voice their displeasure, booing viciously, which in a way, buoys ‘The Legend Killer’, his serious look now turning to a smirk as he looks at Kurt Angle on the apron. Upon seeing the beaten and bloodied Angle still on the apron, crouching down, Orton seems to think that it will all be too easy as he slowly advances on his prey, leaning over the top rope to try to grab Angle ... only for ‘The Olympic Hero’ to DRIVE the air out of Orton with a shoulder thrust to the midsection through the ropes. Angle, knowing that he can get Orton on the back foot, strikes with a second shoulder thrust, before climbing between the ropes and running off to the opposite ropes ... ONLY FOR ALL OF HIS MOMENTUM TO BE TURNED AGAINST HIM WITH A BEAUTIFUL DROPKICK FROM ORTON! Both men remain on the mat for a moment, before Orton slowly starts to pull his body up, looking down at Angle as he does so with a look of pure disdain. Angle too starts to get back to his feet, however, when he tries, Orton, almost insultingly, kicks him in the side of the head, sending him falling back down to the mat in a heap, perhaps showing that his blood loss is starting to take a real effect.

With a smile etched in upon his face, Orton takes a moment, before STOMPING on the head of Angle and leaning over the ropes as he follows through from the move, smirking at the crowd who throw abuse at him. Full of confidence, Orton turns back around and slowly bends over, picking the body of Kurt Angle up, then SNAPPING his head back with a European uppercut. After hitting a second, Orton pushes Angle all of the way back into the corner and begins to UNLOAD on Angle with an ONSLAUGHT of stiff, vicious right hands, striking the head of Angle time and time again, until finally, Angle falls down into a seated position. Orton, showing his complete dominance, takes a step back for a moment and looks at his knuckles, seeing that he literally has blood on his hands, before moving back in and beginning to again insultingly kick away at the cheek of Angle, toying with the Olympian.

While Angle would usually immediately look for vengeance for such moves, he seems in no state to fight back as Orton lifts him up in the corner and even goes as far as to out and out SLAP Angle, before pulling him from the corner, kicking him in the midsection ... THEN HOISTING HIM UP FROM A GUTWRENCH AND HOLDING HIM OVERHEAD --- BEFORE DROPPING HIM DOWN INTO AN ELEVATED NECKBREAKER! While the back of Angle’s head whiplashes off the mat, some members of the crowd actually applaud the impressive move from Orton, which he seems to save for the special occasions. As he gets back to his feet, Orton continues to stare at Angle, before slowly backing into the ropes and coming back to DROP his knee right down across the head of Angle. Orton then again gets back up and slowly backs into the ropes, before AGAIN DRIVING his knee into the head of Angle, continuing the torture of ‘The Olympic Hero’. The crowd, who already are booing, begin to pour heat on Orton when ‘The Legend Killer’ gets back to his feet and strikes his signature pose, smirking as he does so.

Orton, after turning back to Angle, then continues to insult Angle, SPITTING down on the Olympic Gold Medallist, before kicking him in the head insultingly a few more times. Content that he’s embarrassed Angle enough, Orton looks around to the crowd in the American Airlines Arena, before dropping down next to Angle and DARING Angle to fight back to his feet, whispering insults into the ear of his bloody foe. Angle, still clearly out of it, takes an eternity before he begins to stir, with his opponent Orton still perched down beside him. Angle slowly rolls onto his hands and knees, blood dripping from his forehead down to the mat, while ‘The Legend Killer’ scoots around him, looking for the best angle to attack from. After feeling at his head, Angle uses all of his strength to pull his aching body from the mat to get back to his feet and turn around ... RIGHT INTO THE RKO --- BUT ANGLE QUICKLY GRABS A WAISTLOCK AND THROWS ORTON OVERHEAD WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX! Both men are now down on the mat, neither moving, as fatigue and pain have set in, with even the adrenaline that is pumping through the veins of these two amazing competitors struggling to overcome the weariness in their bodies.

With no count outs in this match, the crowd buzzing is the only sound we hear, as slowly, Randy Orton starts to show some signs of life, rolling sluggishly towards the ropes, while his opponent, Kurt Angle, maintains the same position on the mat, still not moving. Orton finally wins the battle with his body to get back to his feet courtesy of the ropes, while Angle, obviously still hurting, starts to try to get back to his feet. Angle though is unable to do so before Orton stumbles his way over to ‘The Olympic Hero’, as Orton instead bends over to try to lift Angle all of the way back up ... but angle EXPLODES with a European uppercut out of nowhere! The crowd pops as Orton stumbles back, perhaps in shock as much as pain, before coming back after Angle ... BAM! Orton suffers a second European uppercut. Angle, now feeling it, suddenly comes out with a BARRAGE of right hands, striking the head of Orton until he charges things up and kicks Orton in the midsection, then takes him over with a snap suplex! Orton gets back to his feet holding his back in pain; however, Orton soon finds out that he is in for more punishment as Angle then THROWS him overhead with a belly to belly suplex!

Angle gets right back up to his feet following that move, showing his instincts seems to have taken over at this point, as he now crouches down near Orton and waits for the youngest World Heavyweight Champion to pull himself off the mat. Slowly but surely Orton does just that, using the ropes for assistance, when suddenly he is rushed from behind ... AND DRILLED WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX --- WITH ANGLE KEEPING HIS HANDS CLASPED FOLLOWING THE BIG MOVE! LIFTING ORTON BACK UP, ANGLE WASTES NO TIME IN THROWING ORTON OVERHEAD, AGAIN KEEPING HIS HANDS CLASPED AS HE DOES SO --- BEFORE DRILLING ORTON DOWN ONTO THE BACK OF HIS NECK WITH A THIRD, THIS TIME RELEASE, GERMAN SUPLEX! The crowd is in a frenzy as they cheer the actions of the heroic Angle, who gets back to his feet and roars, before squatting down over Orton, waiting for him to move. Much like last time, Orton is sluggish in getting back to his feet, before groggily stumbling towards Angle ... AND BEING LIFTED INTO THE ANGLE SLAM --- BUT ORTON SLIPS OUT AT THE LAST MOMENT AND GRABS ANGLE AROUND THE NECK FOR AN INVERTED BACKBREAKER --- NO, ANGLE SPINS OUT OF THAT --- BUT GETS BLASTED OUT OF NOWHERE WITH THE RKO! ORTON LANDS THE RKO!

Both men are down following this chain of counters, reeling, having taken part in such a gruelling exchange. The first to show some life is Randy Orton, who begins to roll towards the ropes, looking for assistance in getting back to his feets which the trusty ropes always provide. Meanwhile, Angle is yet to move, still lying in the exact spot that Orton dropped him with the RKO. Now back to his feet, Orton staggers around the ring, feeling at his face and trying to regather his bearings, as he is still looking rather out of it following the onslaught of offense from ‘The Olympic Hero’. After a few moments of breathing heavily, Orton seems to be back in the right state of mind, as he now stumbles his way across to Angle, and bends down to pick Angle up ... WHEN ANGLE SUDDENLY GRABS THE ANKLE OF ORTON AND TAKES HIM DOWN INTO THE ANKLE LOCK! THE ADRENALINE OF ANGLE IS STILL RUNNING HIGH, AS HE NOW HAS ORTON WHERE HE WANTS HIM --- FOR THE MOMENT, AS ORTON THEN QUICKLY ROLLS THROUGH AND SENDS ANGLE ROLLING TOWARDS THE ROPES! Angle gets up right by the ropes and turns to see Orton charging towards him ... AND ANGLE CATCHES ORTON WITH A BACK BODY DROP --- BUT ORTON LANDS ON THE APRON!

Orton, looking to surprise Angle, quickly runs down the apron and springs up to the top rope ... THOUGH ANGLE SPOTS HIM AS HE RUNS UP THE TURNBUCKLE IN THE CORNER, THEN IN AN INSTANT STRIKES WITH A THUNDEROUS ANGLE SLAM OFF THE TOP ROPE! Both men are down in the centre of the ring for a moment, although Angle swiftly gets up, showing NOTHING will stop him now as he ROARS to the crowd and TAKES DOWN THE STRAPS! The intensity of Angle is seemingly at the highest its even been as he quickly goes after Orton ... GRABBING HIM BY THE ANKLE --- AND LOCKING IN THE ANKLE LOCK! ANGLE HAS THE ANKLE LOCK LOCKED IN, AND ORTON IS WRITHING IN PAIN! Orton kicks and struggles, looking to immediately escape as he again rolls through, much like last time Angle locked in the Ankle Lock ... BUT ANGLE HOLDS ONTO IT! Orton tries again ... but again, the result is the same. Angle will NOT relent! Orton continues to attempt to escape, rolling over and kicking at Angle, only for Angle to roll back through and turn Orton over, keeping the pressure applied.

The intensity of Angle is unmatched as he continues to CRANK at the ankle of Orton, who begins to tap out, despite it meaning nothing in this match, hoping that it will for one reason or another make Angle relinquish the hold. Angle however, has no such plans as he continues to amp the pressure up, breaking the pain threshold of Orton. Orton, realising he can’t escape by simply pushing Angle away in any way, decides that he now has to crawl towards the ropes, slowly doing so, dragging Angle along with him. As he screams in pain, ‘The Legend Killer’ continues to drag ‘The Olympic Hero’ along with him to the ropes, until finally he grabs onto the bottom rope ... but again, it means absolutely nothing as Angle bellows in intensity, applying as much pressure as ever. Orton meanwhile winces in pain, and now grabs onto the second rope, and starts to pull himself to one foot! Grabbing the top rope, Orton is right back onto one foot as Angle STILL continues to apply the Ankle Lock to the other leg ... WITH ORTON THEN LEANING OVER THE TOP ROPE! ORTON LOOKS LIKE HE’S GOING OVER THE TOP ROPE TO GET OUT OF THE ANKLE LOCK, PERHAPS LOOKING FOR THE ONLY ESCAPE TO THE PAIN POSSIBLE!

HIS FACE A CRIMSON MASK, KURT ANGLE SIMPLY REFUSES TO RELENT, CONTINUING TO APPLY AS MUCH PRESSURE AS POSSIBLE AS ORTON LEANS FURTHER AND FURTHER OVER THE TOP ROPE --- BEFORE JUMPING OVER ONTO THE APRON --- AND DRAGGING KURT ANGLE, WHO WOULD NOT LET GO OF THE ANKLE, OVER THE TOP WITH HIM --- AND ANGLE FALLS DOWN TO THE FLOOR! ANGLE IS OUT!

ELIMINATION #29: KURT ANGLE BY RANDY ORTON @ 66:33

Winner: Randy Orton via event @ 66:33

*BURN IN MY LIGHT*

Howard Finkel: Here is your winner, Randy Orton!

After rolling back under the ropes Orton has his hand raised by the referee who slides into the ring with him. Now hopping around, Orton heads across to the corner, and poses to the fans, who give him some heat.

Joey Styles: RANDY ORTON! Randy Orton is headed to the main event of WrestleMania 22! It looked like Kurt Angle was going to snap Orton’s ankle in two, and he may well have, but Orton came out with a great counter, eliminating Angle from the match and booking himself a spot in the main event of WrestleMania 22 against the champion of his choosing!

Tazz: Haha, what’d I tell ya’, Joe? Orton put it all together tonight, and now he’s headed to face the world champion in the main event of WrestleMania 22. Orton said a few weeks ago on SmackDown! that winnin’ the Rumble was his destiny and he has proven that true here tonight, and now he can challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22!

Joey Styles: We don’t know about that yet, Tazz. Orton may yet decide to jump ships to RAW and challenge for the WWE Championship.

Tazz: Hey, Orton knows where his loyalties lie, and trust me, he ain’t goin’ anywhere.

Orton, posing in his classic ‘Legend Killer’ pose is situated (conveniently enough) in front of a WrestleMania 22 logo on the arena, as pyro now explodes around him, leaving us with quite a beautiful image.

Joey Styles: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us here tonight, where we have now seen that Randy Orton will be facing the world champion at WrestleMania 22. Which world champion will that be? We don’t know, but for now, good night from Miami!

We see the closing scene of Orton still posing in front of the WrestleMania 22 logo, pyro exploding behind him as we now fade away.

End.
