Re: WWE 2007: The Year of Redemption
RAW News and Notes:
provided by WrestlingObserver.com
-Randy Orton did not appear at all on last nights show, not even mentioned by anyone. Orton has said that he hasn't been very happy with him only being placed in the Money In the Bank ladder match at Wrestlemania 23. Orton is in no jeapordy of losing his spot, whatsoever, but Vince McMahon has sent him home and told him to clear his head and come back to RAW next week. As far as we know, however, it doesn't look like Orton will appear on the Backlash card for various reasons, so expect a World Heavyweight and ECW Heavyweight Championship match to appear on the show to fill it out.
-With the draft coming up in just four weeks on the 30th, there is already some speculation about who is going to be moving where. While nothing is confirmed, one of the big names from RAW, whether it be Cena, HBK, Hardy, or others, will likely be moving to Smackdown to boost it's main event scene up. ECW's midcard is expected to take a big boost, with possibly three guys coming over and attempting to bring the ECW Heavyweight Championship's belt's prestige up. Also, one man that has been talked about moving has been Mr. Kennedy. Management believes he does not have much left to do on Smackdown and may jump over to RAW and feud with someone over the Money in the Bank or to ECW and cash it in on Bobby Lashley to build the belt's prestige up.
-A few injury updates to note. Rey Mysterio has said that his knee injury wasn't as bad as first thought, and that he may be ready to return by Judgment Day, although officials don't want to rush him back and stress the injury out again. Triple H, on the other hand, said his torn quadriceps is going to take at least 4 more months, with him aiming at a return to Summerslam. According to Triple H, his return match at Summerslam "will likely be with Shawn by my side".
-Some people backstage have been very high on Carlito, most notably Arn Anderson. Anderson has said that Carlito has the skill inside of the ring and his mic work is 'better then average', but that he needs to get a little more serious with himself if he wants to be a big player in years to come instead of being stuck in the midcard. Many expect him to take the Intercontinental Championship off of Umaga at Backlash and then have Flair be his mentor in a long reign. If the reign were to go well, he may be smelling the main event scene by the beginning of 2008.
-Jeff Hardy is another that is being praised by some of RAW's bookers. They've noticed that he is widely over with the fans, can sell an injury very well, and has a chance to be a future WWE Champion. He and Edge are expected to have another match at Backlash, with a possible gimmick being attached to it. The one knock on Hardy is that he isn't the greatest on the mic, but the writers think that they can get past that as long as Hardy stays with his spot-monkey ways somewhat to stay over.
OOC: ECW is done and polished, but I wanted to get these news and notes in before I leave for a few days. Expect ECW to be up on Thursday-Friday.
