Default Re: Being The Booker

Sorry to say, no time for a Smackdown preview, just straight on with the show. I might not be able to get on again until Saturday, so that's why it's going up now. I might get a preview up for SuperBrawl before the show, but maybe not, so predictions are welcome...

Smackdown; February 2nd; Buffalo:

Opening video.

Michael Cole & Tazz open the show, less than 24 hours from SuperBrawl, with a PPV quality main event tonight, with bitter rivals The Undertaker & Kurt Angle taking on the two men that collide for the WWE Championship tomorrow night, Chris Jericho, and the WWE Champion, RVD, with the winning team either gaining one spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match {if RVD & Y2J win}, or two spots {if Taker & Angle win}. Also announced is Batista in one on one action, against Chris Harris of AMW, with Batista & Lashley set to get a second crack at the champions tomorrow night for the tag titles {They lost the first time. WHY GET A REMATCH???}.

Edge defeats William Regal @ 11:02 in a No Disqualification Match. The show opens with the No Disqualification Match signed last week, pitting Mr. Money in the Bank Edge, against William Regal in a rematch from last week. Regal gives Edge a strong run for his money, using all his veteran instincts, troubling the Rated ‘R’ Superstar, but eventually coming up short, as Edge cleans Regals clock with the briefcase, then follows up with the Spear!!! Edge hooks the leg, 1...2...3!!! It’s a good win for Edge, to keep his momentum rolling into WrestleMania.

Backstage, AMW discuss their big opportunity tonight to make a real statement to the rest of Smackdown, by winning against a bona fide top tier singles wrestler, when Harris challenges Batista one on one, with the tag champions determined to prove they can be just as versatile as the Hardy Boys.

Elsewhere, Carlito and MVP collide, as Porters minders try to push Carlito out of MVP’s way to clear the hall for him to enter. Carlito refuses to move, and two trade verbal blows, before Porter laughs it off, then tells his men to find him a different route, not having time for small fish. As MVP walks off Carlito mumbles a response to the small fish comment, and yes, you guessed it, he says ‘Das not cool’.

Bobby Lashley defeats Brent Albright @ 07:29 in a competitive, NON TITLE contest. Albright gives Lashley plenty of troubles, but ultimately falls short, and is unable to kick out of a Dominator, giving Lashley a big win over the United States Champion, surely adding to his credentials for a crack at the champion!!!

The Rated ‘R’ Superstar then gets stopped in the halls … BY ARN ANDERSON. The General Manager warns Edge that his presence isn’t welcomed in tonights main event … and especially not at tomorrows PPV. Edge doesn’t take much in though, with an wankerish grin on his face, telling Anderson he’ll do what he wants. Anderson nods, telling Edge that’s fine … but warns Mr. Money in the Bank that if he decides to adopt that attitude, there will be consequences … SEVERE consequences. Double A leaves the final comment in the air, letting Edge mull it over, as we cut away.

Brian Kendrick, Super Crazy & Chavo Guerrero defeat Kid Kash & The Mad Murdochs @ 06:22, when Super Crazy pinned the Cruiserweight Champion, Kid Kash, with the triple moonsault. The faces stand tall in the middle of the ring, as Kash scarpers, but making sure he holds the belt aloft, reminding his would be challengers who the champion is.

Backstage, Kane gives a promo, talking about tomorrow nights Super Brawl, and talks about wanting to make a big impression on WrestleMania by picking his own match to create as much chaos as possible at the Granddaddy of ‘em all.

Now, Chris Jericho walks to the ring, to deliver a promo ahead of tomorrow nights title match. He talks about his missed opportunity at this exact spot last year, when he just barely missed out on the main event of WrestleMania. He talks about the emotions he went through after coming so close but falling short, and promises he wont fail a second time … not this year.
This promise brings out RVD from the back, to disagree. The champion tells Jericho that he’s never even come close to being part of a WrestleMania main event … until now, and he’s worked too long, fought too hard to just let the title slip from his grasp at this point. Van Dam apologises to Jericho, before telling him that simply put, the WWE Champion will still be R-V-D come SuperBrawl. The two come face to face … AS EDGE ENTERS THE FRAY!!!
Edge stands at the top of the entrance, and tells his two prospective opponents that they ought to stop bickering about who gets to LOSE at WrestleMania to him, and further rams home the point, stating again, that no matter the outcome tomorrow, he is the uncrowned champion, and there will be a new WWE Champion on March 18, and his name is EDGE!!! Edge doesn’t overstay his welcome, and leaves the stage on that bombshell, with Jericho and RVD now face to face in the ring.

1ST TIME WRESTLEMANIA MOMENT - V - FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, ROWDY RODDY PIPER HOSTS THE PIPERS PIT AT WRESTLEMANIA WITH MORTON DOWNEY JR AS HIS GUEST, INFAMOUSLY SPRAYING HIM WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AFTER DOWNEY JR CONSTANTLY BLEW SMOKE FROM HIS CIGAR AT PIPER.

The VP then ends with the graphic for WRESTLEMANIA XXIII - MARCH 18TH 2007 - FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN NEW ORLEANS … AND YOU NEVER FORGET YOUR FIRST TIME.

Batista defeats Chris Harris @ 09:54 via the Batista Bomb to pick up a hard earned win. Harris is joined at ringside by Storm, and it looks towards the end that The Cowboy could well be the difference maker … until Batistas partner for tomorrows match shows up to even the scores, with Lashley chasing off Storm, allowing Batista to pick off Harris, finishing him with the Bomb, 1...2...3!!!
After the match, Batista and Lashley stand together in the ring, chucking the tag title belts to the outside, where Storm helps Harris out of the ring. Then, in the ring, Lashley and The Animal exchange words, pointing towards AMW, but Batista also seems to make it clear that he wants Brent Albright too, with faint audio being caught from what the two say, as Albrights name is mentioned a couple of times, as we fade out.

We now hear from Kurt Angle, as he talks up his partaking in the Super Brawl tomorrow night. He doesn’t give away who he’d choose to face at WrestleMania, but does heavily suggest it’d be The Undertaker, as he states “I’m not going to insult your intelligence … I think it’s obvious who I want at WrestleMania”.

Carlito & Paul London defeat Montel Vontavious Porter & Charlie Haas @ 08:37 when Porter walks out on his partner!!! He refuses a tag, and drops off the apron, claiming ‘I don’t need this’, leaving Haas for dead!!! It’s an easy win in the end for CCC & London, as Carlito hit’s the Back Cracker, and London follows up with the 450 Splash, allowing Carlito to cover, 1...2...3!!!

After a commercial, The Hardy Boys hit the stage. They make a short announcement, before saying they don’t like to waste a single moment, and prove it, by issuing an open challenge to whichever team leaves the SuperBrawl as tag champions, wanting the next crack at the titles!!!

Backstage, the forgotten Deuce & Domino look furious that the recently reformed Hardys have just pushed themselves straight to the front of the line in the hunt for the tag titles!!!

A video now plays, with a young man, and young woman in a car, kissing. The woman pulls away for a second.

Woman: Wait, wait.

The man looks upset, as the woman pulls away from him.

Man: What’s wrong??

Woman: It’s just … it’s my first time.

The man smiles, before reassuring the woman, whilst stroking her arm.

Man: It’s okay … it’s my first time too.

The woman now smiles, then looks inquisitive.

Woman: Really?? Well, have you got them??

Man: Yeah, they’re right here.

The man pulls his wallet out, seemingly to pull out a condom, and off camera the woman catches a glimpse of it.

Woman: Okay … I’m ready.

The camera now shows what the man pulled from his wallet … two WrestleMania 23 tickets.

Man: Alright. WrestleMania, here we come!!

They share a quick kiss, and exit the vehicle, as they walk away, holding hands … towards the New Orleans Superdome …

The video then ends with a big WrestleMania 23 logo … FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN NEW ORLEANS … AND YOU NEVER FORGET YOUR FIRST TIME.

In the main event, Chris Jericho & WWE Champion Rob Van Dam defeat Kurt Angle & The Undertaker @ 15:19, meaning the loser of RVD vs. Jericho tomorrow will join MVP, Umaga & Finlay in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania. The finish comes as The Undertaker gains another measure of revenge on Angle for recent sneak attacks, by turning on his tag partner for the evening, delivering a thunderous Chokeslam, which allows Jericho to hit the Lionsault, and pick up the three count, for a big win ahead of his huge title opportunity tomorrow night.

After the match, Jericho picks up the WWE Championship, staring at it in his hands, smiling … before RVD pulls it away, and hauls it over his shoulder, pointing to the name on the belt, and points his thumbs, with the fans chanting along … “R.V.D”. The two men come head to head, talking trash, as the show goes off the air.

END OF SHOW
