Default Re: Edgehead2000 Presents: World Wrestling Entertainment's Last Stand

WWE Friday Night Smackdown
April 4th 2008
Miami Florida

Smackdown opens up with a very good pyro display. We then go over to the announce table, to where Michael Cole and Johnathan Coachmen welcome us to the first Smackdown after Wrestlemania. Michael Cole announced that tonight on Smackdown, It will be Edge taking on Batista in a match where the winner will face Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Title at Backlash.

We then hear the music of The Rated R Superstar Edge. The former World Heavyweight Champion comes out to a good amount of heat from the crowd. He gets on the microphone and immediately denounces Undertaker’s victory at Wrestlemania, calling it a fluke and that at Backlash he will get his World Heavyweight Title back. This brings out Batista. He tells Edge that he will not get the chance to get his World Heavyweight Title back because he is going to beat him tonight and win the World Heavyweight Title at Backlash. Edge tells Batista that he has beat him before and that he will do it again tonight. Edge then goes to punch Batista, but Batista ducked. Batista then nailed Edge with a Spinebuster. Edge then rolled out of the ring and shouted at Batista that he is going to regret doing that.

Our first match of the night was a non-title match between United States Champion MVP and Jamie Noble. This was pretty much a squash match. Noble got a few punches in on MVP and a dropkick, but that was it offense wise for Noble. MVP picked up the victory after hitting the Playmaker. After the match, Matt Hardy ran into the ring, and kicked MVP in the gut. Hardy then delivered a Twist of Fate to MVP. Hardy then picked up the United States Championship and stared at it. He then laid it over MVP. Hardy then signaled that he will be holding the United States Title very soon.

When we come back from the break, MVP burst into Vickie Guerrero’s office. He complained that Matt Hardy had no right to attack him tonight. He also said that he wants revenge on Matt Hardy for costing him the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at Wrestlemania. Vickie Guerrero then told MVP that he will have his chance at revenge at Backlash, but the United States Championship will be on the line. MVP pleaded the title not be on the line, but Guerrero stood by her decision. MVP then left the office frustrated. As MVP left, he walked into Chris Jericho, who got a HUGE pop from the crowd. Jericho then walked into the office and shook both Theodore Long and Vickie Guerrero’s hand. Jericho said that he has made his decision on what brand he wants to be on that he will make his decision tonight in the ring. Guerrero then told Jericho that she hopes he made the right decision.

Our second match of the night was between one half of the Tag Team Champions John Morrison and Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk. This was the usual good match you would expect from these two. Both Morrison and Punk went for near fifteen minutes. The end came when Punk got out of a Corkscrew Neckbreaker attempt, and reversed it into the GTS for the victory at the fifteen minute mark. After the match, the other half of the Tag Team Champions The Miz came down to the ring and beat down CM Punk. The Miz was about to hit Punk with the Mizard of Oz when Kane’s music filled the arena. Kane came down to the ring and chased both Morrison and Miz out of the ring.

Next up was John “Bradshaw” Layfield’s comeback ceremony. The ring was covered in a red carpet with a podium. Red, White and Blue confeti fell from the rafters. Fake money also fell from the sky with the words “In JBL we trust” written on it. JBL then got in the ring and a good amount of pyro went off. He said that his comeback to Smackdown tonight is equal to Michael Jordan returning to the Chicago Bulls and Joe Gibbs Returning to the Washington Redskins. He then added that he is going to take back his place as the most dominating superstar in Smackdown history. He then says that he plans to regain the World Heavyweight Title. A Countdown then appears on the screen. After it his zero, Chris Jericho’s music hits. Jericho comes out to a HUGE pop. He congratulates JBL on coming to Smackdown. Jericho then mentions that he is the NEW MEMBER OF THE SMACKDOWN ROSTER!! This gets a Monster pop from the fans. Jericho then mentions on how he and JBL have unfinished business. JBL interrupted Jericho and told him that all of their business is now in the past and that he is going to move on to bigger and better things. Jericho then told JBL that he has never beat him. Jericho then challenged JBL to a match at Backlash. JBL hesitated for a second, and put the microphone up to his face. After a couple seconds of stalling, JBL answered…”NO!” JBL then walked out of the ring to a large amount of heat as we go to a commercial.

As we come back from the break, we see JBL walking to his limo in the parking lot. As he is about to enter his limo, Theodore Long stops him. He goes up to JBL and tells him that he feels JBL Vs. Chris Jericho is a money match. JBL tells Theodore Long that he is above Jericho. Long then tells JBL that since he feels he is above Jericho, then he should have no problem beating him. He then makes it official: John “Bradshaw” Layfield Vs. Chris Jericho at Backlash. Theodore Long walks off as JBL looks furious.
Michael Cole announces that Kane Vs. The Miz is made for later tonight.

Our third match of the night was a Tag Team Match between the team of Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore and The Edgeheads. This was just a match to put the Edgeheads over with the crowd as a credible tag team. The Edgeheads got the victory after Zach Ryder pinned Shannon Moore after about four minutes after a Double Team DDT.

*Shill for next week. It will be Chris Jericho making his Smackdown in-ring debut against MVP in a Non-Title Match.*

Up next was a match between Kane and one half of the Tag Team Champions The Miz. This was a slow paced match to start, with the Miz running scared of Kane. Kane eventually caught Miz and started to beat the holy hell out of him. Miz tried to get some offense in, but Kane would not allow it. Kane picked up the victory after grabbing Miz by the throat after he jumped off the top rope, and delivered a vicious Chokeslam for the three count. After the match, John Morrison came down to the ring and beat down Kane. Him and Miz beat him down until CM Punk came down to the ring to make the save. Punk stood tall as we went to a commercial.

*Shill for next week. John Morrison & The Miz take on Kane & CM Punk in a Non-Title match. If Punk & Kane win, they get a Tag Team Title match at Backlash.*

Up next was the main event between Edge and Batista, with the winner facing Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash. This was solid match that got near twenty minutes, but couldn’t touch the other number one contenders match on RAW. Nontheless, this was still a good match with a bunch of false finishes. Edge kicked out of the Spinebuster and Batista kicked out of the Edgeacution. The end came when, Batista was going for the Batista Bomb, but the Edgeheads came down to the ring. Batista dropped Edge and went after the Edgeheads. He chased them around the ring. The Edgeheads slid into the ring and Batista followed. Batista then ran right in a SPEAR FROM EDGE!! EDGE then pinned Batista for the three count.

Before Edge could start to celebrate, the lights went out in the arena. When they went back on, The Undertaker was in the ring behind Edge. The Edgeheads noticed this and bailed out on Edge. When Edge asked why they bailed out, they told him to turn around. Edge turned around and saw The Undertaker. Taker immediately grabbed Edge and went for the Tombstone, but The Edgeheads came back into the ring and saved Edge. However, they could not save themselves, as they were the victims of a Double Chokeslam by The Undertaker. Undertaker and Edge then had a stare down as Smackdown ended.
