TNA Against All Odds 2008
1.
AJ Styles and Tomko vs. BG James and Bullet Bob Armstrong (for the TNA Tag Team Championship)
This match was what it was, but ended up being better than I thought it would be and it seemed like Bullet Bob was really trying out there. Tomko and AJ carried this to the best they could with the time they were given and it wasn't that bad. I liked the show of respect at the start of the for marine vets BG and Bob.
*1/4
2.
Payton Banks vs. Tracie Brooks
I don't really get why they threw this on PPV but like the previous match it was better than I expected. Everything about it was pretty average and seemed more like a WWE women's match (catfight) than a knockouts match. But still watchable as it was short and kept a good pace.

3.
Petey Williams vs. Scott Steiner (Case vs. Case)
This was a good-solid match and I thought it did a great job of putting over Petey. Why in the beginning he was kind of a pansy but after making a comeback he looked like a legit contender for Steiner, to the point I thought he may win. Good action and good showing by both men. Something else this match did was confirm that Steiner still hits a beautiful belly-to-belly

4.
James Storm vs. Eric Young (Drinking Championship)
Another really good match with lots of back and forth action! I think these two shocked everybody with how good their matches were including me. Though it was short at only around 8 minutes the spent that time going all out with a great pace. Easily the best "Drinking Championship Match" in TNA history

. Good
stuff and really underrated

5.
ODB vs. Awesome Kong (Knockout Championship)
This was a decent match that was kind of a disappointment. That's not saying it was bad but lets say if it was on TV it would be a good match but on PPV this was pretty meh. But I admit we needed a little break in the action of Gail vs. Kong and ODB was a good choice

6.
Abyss vs. Judas Mesias (Barbed Wire Massacre 2)
I remember that the arena this event was held in wasn't going to allow this match and I would have been pissed if I attented this show. But onto the match, it was very good and entertaining. Some of the sick spots including Judas falling belly first on a barbed wire board and being chokeslammed onto one. I expected there to be more blood and that's my only complaint with this match. Not as good as the first one but still enjoyable!
***1/4
7. Booker T vs. Robert Roode
Now this is a "Grudge Match", these guys just went out and beat the hell out of each other. Sorry to say that this match was probably their best PPV showing during the feud but that takes nothing away from the match. Up until they got counted out the match was going great and well on its way to the four star range. But it didn't reach that point but still a very solid showing from both men

8.
Jay Lethal and The Motorcity Machine Guns vs. Team 3D and Johnny Devine (Street Fight for the X Division Championship)
Very good showing but all 6 men involved. Both teams looked like a million bucks out there. Full of nonstop action and some amazing spots like Ray piledriving a blow-up doll (

)this match was great fun to watch. Team 3D really put over Lethal in this match and told a great underdog story. Great match
***3/4
9.
Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle w/ Samoa Joe as Special Enforcer (TNA World Heavyweight Championship)
Now this is a main event! Early this year these two really showed they have great chemistry together and that's hard to deny after watching the trilogy of matches they had a few months back. It started out with some great back and forth technical wrestling that involved alot of counters, headlocks and some nice ground work. The pace quickened when the two went to the outside and the pace remained fast and perfect imo the rest of the match. Great reversals, great action and some very good near-falls. This is everything we expected it to be and more with the only down side the ending. Joe also helped out the match by messing with Kurt and such. Had the match had a legit ending this could have easily been one of the best matches in TNA history!
****1/4-****1/2 I'm still having a hard time deciding on which rating I should give this match, ****1/2 seems too high with the finish and ****1/4 doesn't seem worthy of the awesomeness of this match. I'll settle on a final rating when I rematch the DVD.
Conclusion: All things considered it was a great show. Too bad the first couple of matches were kind of lame or else this may have been remembered as one of their best PPVs ever instead of just one of the best of 2008 so far. Once we got to the 3rd match everything on the card delivered including the classic main event. I'd personally recommend this PPV as it's a great watch!
