Default Re: DH6 Presents WWE 2008 & Beyond

Friday Night SmackDown; March 14th, 2008; Fort Worth, Texas

Fireworks blast off everywhere as Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us to Friday Night SmackDown. They mention that tonight in our Main Event, it will be JBL and Edge teaming up to take on Rey Mysterio and the World Heavyweight Champion Batista. Tazz chips in that in other action, MVP is being forced to defend his United States Champion against the Straightedge Superstar, CM Punk.

We start things out with MVP making his way down to the ring, much to the confusion of Michael Cole and Tazz as they believed the United States Championship Match was later on in the evening. MVP is limping, and is trying to make it look like he's in pain. MVP gets in the ring and is handed a microphone from ringside. MVP starts out by saying that he's scheduled to defend his United States Title against CM Punk, but unfortunately, that's not going to happen. MVP explains how he was looking forward to get a rematch against Punk here tonight, but last week in his match with CM Punk, he hurt his knee, and is not medically cleared to compete. Of course, MVP gets quite a bit of heat at this comment as many don't believe him. MVP says that he looks at this as a turning point, and maybe it's for the better. Many are confused at this statement, but MVP reassures his heel status by saying he won't have to embarrass Punk here tonight. The United States Champion talks about how he's carried his gold with pride, and if he had to defend it against CM Punk, he would go down easily and help Porter on his path to the greatest United States Champion in history.
**This Fire Burns** CM Punk comes out to a fabulous pop from the Fort Worth fans. Punk asks MVP if his knee is alright, and MVP just gives him a mere shoulder shrug and a somewhat painful look. Punk bends down and starts to inspect MVP's knee and leg before telling him that it looks perfectly fine. MVP asks Punk since when was he a doctor, and his response from Punk is that you don't need to be a doctor to tell that MVP is faking to get out of defending his title. The crowd seems to agree with CM Punk, but Porter is angry and offended at the statement. MVP wants to know why he would fake an injury when he is clearly better than CM Punk, though when he said it, he said "better than you." Punk explains how he knows MVP might be a little intimidated of him since he lost to him last week in the center of the ring. Punk says it's no secret that MVP has potential, but too much potential could cost him a match, and even his United States Championship. Punk even goes as far to say that if he doesn't get his shot at the US Title here tonight, MVP's knee may not be the only thing that's injured.
MVP gets frustrated that Punk is toying with him and leading him on, so he begins to head in a new direction. MVP talks about how he's all for proving that SmackDown is the number one brand in the WWE, and that there's a chance to prove it at WrestleMania. MVP says he knows that Punk feels the same way, so if there's any hope of having SmackDown come out on top in the Money in the Bank Match, it's in Punk's best interests to let him rest to get his knee better. Punk thinks, before finally telling Porter that's fine, but he's pumped to compete tonight, and if it's not for Championship gold, he's going to do something about it. MVP comes up with an idea that Punk will still compete for the United States Championship tonight, but it will be against someone of MVP's choice, who will be defending the title for him. Punk gladly accepts and shakes MVP's hand, before **This Fire Burns** plays again as Punk exits the ring.

The first contest of the night sees a 6-Man Tag Team Match, with WrestleMania opponents Chavo Guerrero, Jimmy Wang Yang and Jamie Noble teaming up to take on Shannon Moore, Nunzio and Kenny Dykstra. The match sees some great back and forth action, as well as some problems between Guerrero, Yang and Noble. In the end, Moore and Guerrero were exchanging blows on the top turnbuckle. Moore got the better of the situation and set Chavo up for a SUPERPLEX, but Guerrero countered by sending Shannon Moore stomach first to the ground below. Moore rolled into position for THE FROG SPLASH, which Chavo hit to perfection, but Noble grabbed Chavo from the outside, pulled him to the outside, and took him down with a clothesline. The Pitbull then slid into the ring as quick as a bunny and covered Moore for the decisive victory. After the match, Noble and Chavo had a confrontation in the ring, which Jimmy Wang Yang soon got into. Noble raised his arms and left the ring as Chavo and Yang looked at him, and then each other in disgust.

Surprisingly, Kristall Marshall is standing backstage with a microphone in hand. She introduces her interview guest, Victoria, who is looking quite infuriated. Kristal begins to question Victoria, but before she can even get five words in, Victoria cuts her off saying that she is about to start her reign of dominance. She says she is going to plow through the divas on the SmackDown locker room, before doing the same to the divas on the Raw locker room, and in the process, taking the Women's Championship from whoever the champ may be at the time. Victoria says she's not going to sit back any longer and watch these 'eye-candy' women take her glory away from her. She says she's gonna be back on top, and the other women better watch out.

JBL is storming down a hallway backstage to a tremendous amount of heat. JBL stops at a door which reads "Rey Mysterio." Instead of politely knocking, JBL shoves the door open and walks into a locker room. Rey Mysterio is at the far in taping his wrists, but when he spots JBL, he gets up and stands right up against an angry JBL. Mysterio gestures for JBL to explain to him why he's there, and JBL gladly does so. JBL asks Rey what the hell he was thinking when he turned on him last week in their tag team match, when they were supposed to be on the same team. Mysterio tells Bradshaw that what he did was strike, before he was stricken. Rey explains how he knew that JBL would turn on him eventually in the match, so instead, he struck first, and gave him a pre-WrestleMania message. JBL says he doesn't any messages, but he's got one for Rey. He better watch himself in the ring tonight, or he may not even make it to WrestleMania. JBL turns around and exits the locker room with a scowl on his face, while Rey just looks on.

The second match of the evening witnesses Victoria starting her 'reign of dominance' as she takes on the French diva, Maryse. Victoria explodes on Maryse right from the get go by taking her down with a vicious clothesline. Victoria continues on the offense for the next few minutes with several high-impact clotheslines, forearms, kicks, and slams. Victoria even manages to hit the SPIDER'S WEB, but instead of covering, Victoria lifts a helpless Maryse to her feet, and connects with the WIDOWS PEAK, before covering her for the academic three count. After the match, Victoria gets her hand raised with an evil, determined look on her face, before exiting the ring up the ramp.

Raw Rebound
~Triple H & Mr. Kennedy are set to go one-on-one, but Shane McMahon attacks Triple H as soon as the match starts. Randy Orton makes his presence known by coming down to the ring and beating down on Triple H as well. Eventually, though, Stone Cold Steve Austin makes his way to the ring, and with the help of Triple H, gives Randy Orton a beat down
~Bobby Lashley manages to defend his Intercontinental Championship against Christian in fierce competition. Despite the fact that Christian had Tyson Tomko in his corner, Lashley came on top and left with his gold.
-Our main event sees Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Chris Jericho & Kane teaming up to take on Carlito, John Morrison & The Hardys. As we draw near the end of the matchup, both teams have imploded on each other, but it's an appearance by Smackdown's Batista and Edge that ultimately leads Carlito, John Morrison & The Hardys to victory.

The next match on the card sees the WWE Tag Team Champions, Deuce and Domino, taking on America's Most Wanted, Chris Harris and James Storm, in a non-title match up. Like always, the champs have Cherry in their corner, giving them great support. This is a pretty decent back and forth contest, lasting well over 10 minutes. Both D&D and AMW get in their share of moves, both in singles and in double team. As we draw towards the end of the contest, Deuce & Domino go for the Crack 'em in the Mouth on Chris Harris, but when Deuce is running towards Harris, James Storm enters the ring and connects with the Last Call to Deuce!! Harris then elbows Domino and sends him out of the ring, before joining his partner. Storm puts Deuce in a crouched Bearhug as Harris ascends to the top rope. Harris then leaps, and connects with a TOP ROPE LEG DROP!! - while at the same time Storm slams Deuce with a POWERBOMB!! We learn from Michael Cole & Tazz that this move is called the Death Sentence. Storm then rolls away from the action as Harris gets on top of Deuce for the cover, which gets the three count.

We return from the commercial break to see America's Most Wanted walking backstage to a huge pop. Both Harris and Storm are slightly limping, but they still have half-smiles on their faces. They stop at the door of the SmackDown General Manager, Theodore Long, knock, and then enter to a cozy looking office. Theodore Long gets off of a couch in the office and greets AMW. Harris tells Long that he heard he wanted to see them, and Long said that was true with a huge grin on his face. Long explained to Harris and Storm that ever since they joined SmackDown and the WWE a few weeks ago, they have been impressing him non-stop, and that deserves something. Long tells them that because of their impressive back to back wins against the WWE Tag Team Champions, they will get a shot at those titles tomorrow night at Saturday Night's Main Event, and that he wants them to make the most of it. Storm thanks Long and shakes his hand, which is followed by Harris doing the same. America's Most Wanted then exit the office in pure anticipation in excitement as Long keeps the grin on his face.

The next match has the United States Championship up for grabs with CM Punk taking on a replacement of MVP's choice. MVP is at ringside doing commentary, still favouring his right knee, but in an odd, unreal manner. It turns out that MVP's replacement to go up against Punk is none-other than the Fighting Irishman himself, Finlay, which clearly shows MVP's smarts and desire to keep his gold. Punk and Finlay show that they have excellent chemistry by putting on a great match. Punk outsmarted Finlay in the beginning, much to the anger of the United States Champion, MVP, but Finlay managed to bounce back and took control of Punk for a good portion of the contest. Eventually, Finlay had Punk in control after Punk had fought back, and goes for THE CELTIC CROSS!! - But Punk rolls through, lifts Finlay onto his shoulders, and HITS THE GO TO SLEEP!!! Immediately following this, while Punk is still in the ring, MVP appears out of nowhere and smacks Punk with the US Title belt, causing the disqualification!! Punk drops down to the ground as MVP continues to stomp on him. MVP helps Punk to his feet and drives him into the corner hard as Punk hurts his spine. MVP then grabs Punk by the arm and pulls him out of the corner, before beheading him with a clothesline! The United States Champion helps a dazed Punk to his feet - before sending him to the mat WITH THE PLAYMAKER!!!! MVP gets back to his feet, picks up his title belt, and raises it in the air looking as proud as ever.

We cut backstage to see Ric Flair walking down a hallway as Michael Cole and Tazz inform us that Flair will be in action when we come back from the Commercial Break

{Commercials}

We come back from the Commercial Break where Michael Cole and Tazz give us their opinions on what went down before the break. They explain how MVP didn't seem to hurt when he gave Punk that after match beatdown, and that the United States Champion should be punished for his despicable actions.

Our next contest booked on the card has Ric Flair taking on Elijah Burke in a singles match. Flair uses his explosiveness right at the sound of the bell by making a fool out of Burke, but The Elijah Experience turns the tables on The Nature Boy and grounds the in-ring legend. Burke takes complete control of the matchup for the next few minutes of the match up, with stomps and fists, as well as numerous holds. However, Naitch manages to fight out of a Sleeper Hold and get right back in the match as he lights Burke up with a series of skillet like chops. Flair even connects with a chop block to the back of Burke's leg, which allows The Nature Boy to work on his leg. Eventually, Flair goes for THE FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK!! -- But Burke pushes him sternum first into the corner! Burke sneaks up behind Flair and rolls him up, before stacking his feet on the ropes!! Just when it looks like Burke is going to score the pin fall over the 16-time World Champion, TOMMY DREAMER shoves Burke's feet off the ropes, breaking the count. A frustrated Burke gets to his feet and looks out at Dreamer, as the referee does as well to admonish Dreamer. However, with the referee facing away, Flair takes advantage and connects with a LOW BLOW to Burke to a huge pop, before rolling him up for the victory!

Backstage, Josh Matthews has a microphone and introduces his interview guest, the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista. Josh asks Batista what it's going to be like to be forced to team up with Edge tomorrow night at Saturday Night's Main Event. Batista says it's something that he never wanted, but he's going to have to do it, whether he likes it or not. Batista talks about how he's wondering what he's going to do to Edge tonight, because if he beats the crap out of him too much, Edge won't be in any condition for their tag team match tomorrow night, which is something that he doesn't want. Batista adds in some other comments, going on about how he's looking to team with his good friend, Rey Mysterio, and on Rey's wishes, he's going to be the crap out of, possibly Edge, but guaranteed JBL. Batista walks off to a large pop as Josh just looks on as always.

~The WWE Slam of the Week plays, showing last week when Rey Mysterio turned on his own partner, JBL, which ultimately allowed the team of Batista & Edge to take the victory.

We finally get to the Main Event after an action packed show, which sees the World Heavyweight Champion Batista teaming up with Rey Mysterio to take on the team of Edge and JBL. Both teams try desperately to take the advantage in the early goings of the match, but it becomes clear that both teams are evenly matched as we get to witness several hold/counter combinations. Batista and Rey do gain some control, however, as they manage to isolate Edge, but not for long, however. Edge uses his desperation by raking Mysterio in the eyes, and then tagging in the much larger JBL. JBL viciously sends Rey to the mat with a clothesline, before stomping on him several times. JBL and Edge dominate the next portion of the match, making frequent tags, and in the process, isolating Mysterio from Batista. During this complete grounding, we went to a commercial break, and when we returned from the commercials, Mysterio was still in the same, bad predicament. However, JBL lets up on his attack the slightest amount, and it proves to be costly as Mysterio fights back by taking the larger body of JBL down with a hurricanrana. Eventually, both Mysterio and JBL make tags to their respective partners as Edge and Batista enter the ring, with Batista getting a massive pop. We get a bit of a WrestleMania sample as these two WrestleMania Main Event opponents lock horns. Batista strikes first by taking down Edge with a clothesline. Batista continues on the offense and takes control of the match up. However, some outside interference from JBL is key, as he beheads Batista with a boot to the head. Following this, Edge goes for THE SPEAR!! -- But Batista is far too quick for The Rated R Superstar, and connects with a Spear of his own!! Batista then gets the crowd going even more as he lifts Edge up, sends him into the ropes, and PLANTS HIM WITH A SPINEBUSTER!!! Batista only gets a two count, however, as JBL enters the ring and breaks up the count. JBL begins to beat down on Batista, before bouncing off of the ropes, and GOING FOR THE CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL!! -- But Batista ducks as JBL walks right into a drop toe hold that puts JBL on the ropes! Rey then bounces off the far ropes, and comes running back at JBL - and HITS THE 619!! A dazed JBL then walks right into a Spear from Batista as he rolls out of the ring, where Mysterio gets on top of him and strats to hammer him. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Batista sets Edge up FOR THE BATISTA BOMB!! -- but Edge sneaks out the backdoor. Batista turns around -- only for Edge to take him down WITH A SPEAR!! The Rated R Superstar slowly but surely covers Batista with the leg hooked, and gets the three count. Edge's music plays as he rises to his feet and gets his hand raises by the referee. Edge then slides out of the ring and heads up the ramp as he looks on at a hurt Batista. However, just when it appears that this is all that's going to happen, Shawn Michaels is seen running through the crowd, before he hops over the barricade and into the ring. Michaels starts to beat down on Batista as Edge just looks on in total confusion; unsure of what to do. Suddenly, the lights go out, but when they come back on, Undertaker is standing there staring into the eyes of Michaels. Just when it looks like the Undertaker is going to strike Michaels, he grabs Batista by the throat, helps him to his feet, and then plants him with THE CHOKESLAM!! Immediately following this, Edge runs down to the ring and slides in as he takes Michaels down with a SPEAR!! - And then DOES THE SAME TO TAKER!! Edge's music plays as he stands tall in the ring, as well, looking shocked that he saved Batista, his WrestleMania opponent.

SmackDown is a little rushed this week, but a SNME Preview will be up within the next few days. I think SNME will be in extensive recap, but I haven't really decided as I've only been working on some of the matches. Expect SNME around the end of June, tbh.
