Default Re: Official TNA DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread

^^^ His character may have restricted from having outstanding matches all the time, but he's still just as over and he did really well with the new personality, so you can argue both ways on which version of AJ was better.

But I will admit, AJ Styles was pretty amazing in 2005. TNA storyline wise was almost pure crap in the early portion of 2005 when Dusty had the book, but I could always say that I had great AJ Styles matches to look forward to.

His UX Match with Petey & Sabin is the best UX ever hands down. Amazing match.

30 Minute Iron Man with Daniels was also amazing. One of my favorite TNA matches ever.

UX Challenge with Daniels, Primetime, and Killings was ok. I liked the ending, and the effort was there, but I didn't think of it as anything special, but this was the point in time where I felt like UX was being done way too much.

Lockdown match with Abyss was awesome. Probably AJ's best in the Heavyweight division.

World Title Match with Jarrett was good. A far cry from their work during the weekly PPVs, but it was well built, and it was really cool to see AJ beat Jarrett for the title again.

KOTMII is the weakest KOTM, but Temple of Doom is also the weakest of the Indy films, and its still pretty damn good. That match was a lot of fun with AJ, Abyss, & Monty involved. IMO, this match is the only real reason to pick up Slammy 05 as everything else was pretty bland.

Match with Waltman was my pick for MOTN for that PPV. It was great.

X Cup Finals with Joe was good, but seemed a little spotty to me. I thought they had much better ones later on.

Like the Unbreakable Triple Threat for example. AJ, Joe, and Daniels tore the house down and thank God they got the main event spot cause nothing else could have come close.

Iron Man II with Daniels is somewhat forgotten. It was very good and almost matchesd the first.

Match with Petey is also kind of forgotten. I saw it again when I picked up Best of AJ Vol 2, and the match was much better than I remembered it.

His match with Joe at TP05 was amazing. It's probably my favorite X Division Title match in TNA history (and that includes the Unbreakable match) It was amazing to watch AJ take that beating and keep going. The match was worked perfectly.
