WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN | PREVIEW

FRIDAY 2ND MAY, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

Tonight, the stars of Friday Night SmackDown enter the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, just five days removed from a memorable WWE Backlash. Tonight is the fall out of Backlash for the Blue Brand, but will there be any other fall-outs between the Superstars of SmackDown?

DEADMAN REIGNS SUPREME

Five nights prior at Backlash, the Rated-R Superstar was unsuccessful in his quest to regain the World Heavyweight Championship, held by arguably the greatest force in the WWE today - The Undertaker. The Deadman, with compliments to his deadly submission hold, retained the World Heavyweight Championship at Edge's expense, and will resume his reign of supremacy on SmackDown, starting tonight. The Deadman will not be invisible to his fellow SmackDown Superstars, and everybody will be gunning for an oppurunity at the title. But, after witnessing The Undertaker's frightening decimation of Edge this past Sunday at Backlash, it will take a bold induvidual to stand up to The Phenom, and that induvidual could well be the ECW Champion, Kane. Kane faces his brother tonight in a highly-anticipated Title Unification Match which will spell the end of the ECW Championship's tenure in World Wrestling Entertainment. Will the Big Red Machine climb to the top of the SmackDown mountain? Or will The Phenom emerge still standing tall?

HARDY SHOWS CUTTING EDGE

Matt Hardy was another SmackDown Superstar to emerge successful from Backlash this past Sunday. Hardy finally defeated his long-time nemesis Montel Vontavious Porter to at long last become United States Champion for the first time in his career. Knowing M.V.P, the former United States Champion will not be happy at all with the result of Backlash, and will be right back in the hunt for the United States Championship. Tonight, Matt Hardy is a special guest on the Rated-R Superstar Edge's talk show, The Cutting Edge, to discuss Hardy's United States Championship victory at Backlash. Hardy and Edge have a very turbulent history together, so all hell could break loose tonight.

GUNNING FOR THE GOLD

Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder will be opting to redeem the Rated-R Entourage tonight on SmackDown, as the Edge-Heads take on Jesse and Festus for an oppurunity to challenge John Morrison and The Miz for the WWE Tag Team Championships next week on SmackDown. Which team will come out on top, and will that team become WWE Tag Team Champions next week on SmackDown?

ANIMAL ON THE HUNT

Batista's problems with Shawn Michaels reached an all-time high this past Monday on Raw, as The Animal speared Shawn Michaels following HBK's hard-fought victory over Mr.Money In The Bank, CM Punk. What started as an altercation over Shawn Michaels retiring the Nature Boy Ric Flair at Wrestlemania XXIV has now evolved into a very personal rivalry. What twists and turns will take place in the latest chapter of the burdeoning Shawn Michaels-Batista triolgy?
