Slammiversary 2009

We're in the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, Michigan. The arena is way too big for a TNA show in all honestly, the stage looks good though but there are just too many empty seats visible. First match up in the X-Division King of the Mountain.

The guest beltholder, Curtis Granderson is out first, he gets a great reaction which is expected since he plays for the hometown team. Suicide comes at him and he and Shelley trade chops. Shelley trys for a Sliced Bread off the Penalty Box but Suicide counters and dropkicks Shelley into the crowd.
Suicide gets in the ring and positions the ladder, the crowd boo the hell out of him, Lethal trys to tip the ladder over and does. Suicide lands on the Penalty Box, takes the ladder and places it on Lethal's back. While all this goes on, Shelley places another ladder in the ring, and he goes for the belt. Suicide walks the ladder on the back of Lethal and jumps across ladder-to-ladder hitting a cutter on Shelley. Suicide climbs a ladder and hangs the X-Division Title.
The crowd boo Suicide as they were 100% for the Guns. Lights go out and Suicide leaves the arena.
Winner: Suicide
****
Great X-Division match here, loads of innovative spots and moves you don't see everyday. The crowd were red hot the entire match too. I liked how they played up all 4 men going after Suicide, trying to take the masked man out of the match first, especially since they couldn't do it at Destination X, and when that didn't work out, the Guns teamed up on everybody else, with Sabin even taking one for the team, giving Shelley the pin. Great King of the Mountain match.
We're at ringside with Mike and Don, they discuss how good the X-Division match was, they run down the card and send it to the back to Lauren who plays up that 3D are still not back from Japan, Shane Douglas comes in and says that he's the benchmark in the business and that he didn't come here to lose.

Both men trade punches and Daniels wins out until Douglas locks in a bearhug. Daniels hits an STO and hits a BME. 3 count. Crowd is happy, mainly because it's over.
Winner: Daniels
**
Pretty sloppy match but not necessarily bad, Douglas wasn't in shape and Daniels did what he could with him, which wasn't alot. At least Douglas made sense by sticking on the arm of Daniels the whole time but Daniels was too quick for him. Crowd was very quiet for this match but cheered at the end, mainly because it was over.
JB is backstage with Mick Foley, he says there's a 20% chance of Mick winning, Mick says he has a 40% chance of winning simply because of the bash he threw Jeff Jarrett. Mick says for this company to reach it's full potential, he needs to stay champion for a long long time. Foley sings "He's got the World Title in his hands", He then says that his next title defense will be at Bound For Glory...2010. JB gives Mick a gift and Mick walks off singing.

Particularly good Women's match but it was a little short. All of the Beautiful People played their heel roles perfectly but Tara seemed a little lost, granted it was her first proper match in months. Angelina looked good in the ring and took a bad rail bump, landing head first. Nice quirky finish with Velvet hitting Tara with the hairspray.

***1/2
Really enjoyable match here, loads of fun spots, it's a Monsters Ball so it's expected to be that way. The knockouts were the stars of this, especially Daffney, I would've never expected a woman to take a tack bump..not in a worldwide promotion like TNA anyway. Abyss and Raven were their usual selfs and Stevie was great as the manager. Very fun Hardcore match here.
JB is in the locker rooms with Jeff Jarrett. JB thinks Jarrett is contradicting himself but Jarrett says that he doesn't want to be champion but he needs to be. Winner: "The Icon" Sting
***
Quick match here but a very enjoyable one, infact it was probably Morgans best match upto that point. Morgan, with his cocky attitude thought he had Sting beat halfway through but The Icon used his veteran instict and started taking Morgan out through those big legs. A normal Death Drop wouldn't do for a win, so Sting had to go a step further and hit one from the second rope. Sting looked great for the little offence he had here, who'd have thought a 50-Year Old would be doing missle dropkicks.
An announcement plays saying that Bound For Glory will be in Los Angeles California on October 18th.

***3/4
Now that how a tag-team match should be done. Both teams looked great and all the action was enjoyable. I was surprised especially by Brother Ray pulling out all the stops in this one. Don West was hilarious all throughout the match on commentary, showing his knowledge of tag-team wrestling by read a big book about it. The British Invasion are gold on commentray aswell. 3D were really over in this match but Beer Money deservedly got their titles, albeit not through a clean finish.

****
Just as good as the opening KOTM, but they're both good in different ways. The first one was more about fast paced exciting action while this one was about strategy and storytelling. For the entire match it looked like Joe was on the side of the Originals only at the last second to turn his back and join Angle. Know we know why Angle said "we" will be celebrating tonight earlier in the show.
Plenty of great action in this match too though, between A.J flipping off the cage, Joe falling awkwardly on the ladder, Foley doing an elbow drop off the cage. Joe elevating A.J onto Foley over the ropes, The Stroke onto the ladder. It's all here. Definetly reccomend this match and this Pay-Per-View.
