Default Re: Forever-Delayed Does WWE

Here's the final two matches, the Hall of Fame inductees, and then the card to leave predictions for

Ric Flair’s final match
Triple H vs. Ric Flair

• This rivalry goes back to June 2005 when Ric Flair turned on Triple H to help Batista retain the World title in the Hell in a Cell match, with Flair fed up at the way he was being treated by HHH. However, this led to HHH viciously attacking Flair and putting him out injured

• Flair returned for a match at Unforgiven only for HHH to win the match. Flair got his revenge at Homecoming, beating HHH in a submission match, but HHH again attacked Flair after the match.

• They met for a final time at Survivor Series, this time in an I Quit match, where the loser would not only have to quit, but would have to quit the WWE. After a hard fought battle HHH won the match after repeated Sledgehammer shots to the head of Flair, forcing Ric Flair to end his WWE and his wrestling career

• HHH became the WWE Champion for the 11th time at New Years Revolution, pinning Matt Hardy in the Elimination Chamber to win the match. He was scheduled to face John Cena, the Royal Rumble winner for the title at Wrestlemania, until the return of Ric Flair

• Ric Flair returned as a one-night general manager on Raw 2 weeks after the Royal Rumble to the shock of just about everyone, especially Triple H who told Flair that he retired him and so doesn’t deserve to come back into his yard. Triple H kept on insulting Flair, but Flair made a match for the following week... as a Wrestlemania preview we would see Triple H face John Cena... for the WWE Title. Triple H was livid at this, while Cena loved the fact he had two chances to win his 4th WWE Title. Ric Flair then appointed himself the Special Guest Referee for the match to stop any outside interference from Shawn Michaels

• The following week saw John Cena win the title from Triple H, pinning HHH after hitting him with the FU to have a rare WWE Title change on Raw. As expected, HBK had got involved in the match after HHH had knocked Flair down after he stopped HHH bringing the Sledgehammer into the ring. HBK went to hit Cena with the Sweet Chin Music, but missed and hit HHH instead. Flair then low blowed HBK, and then did the same to HHH, before Cena hit the FU to win the title.

• Triple H was furious with what had happened and demanded that the match be struck from the records due to the actions of the referee, Ric Flair. Instead, he was told by Vince McMahon that he would not be doing that, and because of the confrontational approach he had, his Wrestlemania spot would be in jeopardy. Vince told HHH that he was willing to waive the fact Flair was retired for 1 night to allow HHH to face him at Wrestlemania... or HHH could face John Cena for the title at Wrestlemania... Vince then told HHH his decision would be made for him tonight in the main event... if HHH won he would face Cena, if he lost he would face Flair, and the man who beat him would go-on to Wrestlemania as the number 1 contender

• The main event came with HHH spending the show going on about how he was going to win the match tonight, but beat the hell out of Ric Flair instead of facing him. However, his opponent was announced as being Shawn Michaels. The DX partners talked in the ring about what they were going to do, with HHH telling him to lie down, only for HBK to hit him with a right hand. After an epic 25 minute match where the two DX partners fought to see who would be in the main event, Shawn Michaels got the win after a Sweet Chin Music, but with Ric Flair making the count after coming in as a referee.

• HHH would therefore face Ric Flair at Wrestlemania, with HHH saying that he has ended the career of Ric Flair once, and would do it again at Wrestlemania, before going to reclaim his title as soon as he possibly could. Flair responded by telling HHH that at Wrestlemania he has nothing to lose. He knows that this is likely to be his last match (as he technically is still retired) and so he can throw everything he has into the match. He knows that he isn’t as young as he was, but he still knows how to wrestle, how to fight, and is still the man. He told HHH that unlike last time, it will be HHH begging to quit.

• HHH then produced a tribute video to Ric Flair, showing all of the moments in the HHH/Flair rivalry, mostly focusing on HHH beating up Ric Flair. He then repeats over and over again the Sledgehammer shot that caused Flair to say I Quit at Survivor Series.

• The final Raw before Wrestlemania saw HHH have to face the Undertaker, with HHH saying that isn’t it fitting that he could be the last person to beat two legends on TV... Taker in the ring tonight, and Ric Flair if he shows up. The match never really began though with Ric Flair (as well as HBK and John Cena) all getting involved near the beginning of the match. Flair came down to the ring to fight HHH, and countered a Pedigree from HHH into a figure 4 lock. HHH was made to tap out to the submission hold, with Flair looking as if he could beat HHH at Wrestlemania

WWE Title
John Cena (C) vs. Shawn Michaels

• John Cena and Shawn Michaels have been involved in a feud throughout the majority of the year. They were involved in the same match at King of the Ring, Vengeance, Summerslam, Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble, with Cena coming out on top the majority of the time, including eliminating HBK from the Rumble match which meant HBK came 3rd for the second successive year. Cena was therefore going to Wrestlemania to battle for the WWE Title against HBK’s DX partner HHH

• Cena said he wasn’t particularly fussed who he would face at Wrestlemania, because he knew that after the event he would be able to say that the champ is here. He said that he may have had a slight assist last week from Ric Flair, but that doesn’t matter to him. Cena told HHH or HBK that he didn’t care which one of them he had to face at Wrestlemania, and told them that if they wanted some to come get some

John Cena, who was on commentary for the match then got into the ring alongside HBK and held up the title in his face, signifying this would be the Wrestlemania main event

• The following week saw HBK cut a promo on John Cena. He said that throughout the year Cena had proved that he is a worthy opponent and could possibly be a future hall of famer alongside such greats as Shawn Michaels. HBK mentioned that Cena had often gotten the better of him, but had never beaten him in a one on one match (they had never faced each other either, explaining why Cena didn’t ever face someone from DX in a 1 on 1 match at a ppv so the Wrestlemania match would be a first time meeting). HBK told Cena that he was Mr. Wrestlemania and always stole the show at the event, making reference to all the great matches he has had in the past, including last year where he made Bret Hart tap out. Cena then came out and reminded HBK about all he had done at Wrestlemania... beating the Big Show and JBL to win titles, and last year doing something HBK couldn’t do... beat Stone Cold Steve Austin (and make him tap out at that). Cena said that he knew HBK was a tough opponent, but that didn’t matter to him. All that mattered to him was keeping the title around his waist and creating a Wrestlemania moment where he stands tall with the WWE Title

• SNME saw the contract signing between the two of them which ended in the typical fashion... a brawl between the two of them. HBK superkicked Cena through the table after a long brawl between them, and the show ended with him holding up Cena’s title as a precursor to what he wanted to happen at Mania

• Cena and HBK then had to face opponents chosen for the other one the next show. HBK had to go 1 on 1 with Chris Jericho, and lost the match after Cena interfered and hit HBK with the FU. Cena had earlier had to face Umaga, a match that ended in a DQ after HBK and Umaga had beaten down Cena, including HBK superkicking Cena through a table for the second show in a row

• HBK was furious that Cena had cost him his match, and the following week told Cena exactly what he thought of him. He said that in his career he had faced a lot of men who thought that they were going to go on to greatness, a lot like Cena was. He said all of them had gone into the match thinking they could beat HBK, and all of them had failed. HBK said that at Wrestlemania John Cena was going to fail just like all the others before him had.

• The final show saw Cena kick the show off the show by declaring that in 1 week’s time he would be doing exactly the same, and would still be holding the WWE Title in his hand. He said that he respects HBK as a competitor, but at Wrestlemania he would be holding nothing back. He said last year he defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin, but expects that experience to be nothing compared to being be in the actual main event. He said that HBK has the experience of main eventing Wrestlemania, and that HBK could have the support of HHH as his DX partner to help him out if he needed it. He mentions that all of these factors add to John Cena being the underdog this Sunday, but that is exactly the way he likes it. He said he’s overcome obstacle after obstacle in his career to get to the position where he is now, and he’s not going to let another one like Shawn Michaels get in the way of him standing with the WWE Title and saying THE CHAMP IS HERE!!!

• The HHH/Undertaker match included a run in from HBK to help run off Ric Flair, only for John Cena to come out and even up the odds. We saw Cena and HBK start to battle backstage, and at the end of the show we managed to catch up with their progress, as HBK superkicked Cena through the Raw staging equipment. HBK then held up the title on the stage at the end of the show, while looking down at Cena as if he knows how to beat him.
