WWF Royal Rumble 1993 Review

1. The Steiner Brothers vs. The Beverly Brothers
Very good opener. Took 'em a few minutes to get going but it got good when it did. A lot of high impact stuff here. Rick hits one of the Beverlys with a release german that looks like could've broken his neck. Got the crowd into it, which is always a great way to start off a PPV.

2. Intercontinental Title Match - Shawn Michaels(c) vs. Marty Jannetty
When I saw that Dave Meltzer rated this one four stars, I was expecting something great. But. That wasn't the case. This was fairly sloppy and just thrown together. Something I noticed during the match was that Jannetty took a hit into the ringpost on his right shoulder. But for some odd reason holds his left and Shawn works on the left for a duration of the match. Oh yeah and Jannetty didn't sell it all either... The last few minutes were pretty good with some close near falls, but I wasn't a big fan of the finish.

3. Big Bossman vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
Filler. A big man match that got a little longer than it should have. Nothing too worthy of typing here.
*1/2

4. WWF Title Match - Bret Hart(c) vs. Razor Ramon
I really enjoyed this match. A bit slower paced but there was some good stuff thrown in. Finish kinda came out of nowhere... MOTN.
***1/2

5. The Royal Rumble Match
A pretty boring Rumble for the most part. Highlights included some pretty good exchanges between Flair and Perfect, the debut of Giant Gonzales(not an entrant) as he attacked Taker, a fairly entertaining showdown between Yoko and Earthquake, Bob Backlund lasts over an hour at the age of 43, and the final 4 or 5 minutes weren't too bad. Oh and Gorrilla Monsoon calls Carlos Colon a youngster. Also Genichiro Tenryu was an entrant. Wasn't aware he was ever in the 'E... but anyway pretty lame ending. I love how the crowd just goes absolutely silent afterwards though.
**1/4

Overall: ***
Fairly solid PPV. Nothing great but a lot of stuff in the *** range. And by the way since we're on break expect a lot of reviews from me in the next week or so.
