Re: Anime Discussion Thread
First off, I would like to state that Dattebayo likes to play a lot of games with it's fan. Especially, its fans that are overly dedicated/borderline obsessed with a certain show.
So with that said, Dattebayo is claiming they have no plans on subbing any new Bleach episodes from here on out. Instead, they plan on doing Genshiken Season 2.
I, personally, doubt that this is going to happen. For one, Bleach pays the majority of Dattebayo's bills. That along with Naruto.
In all actuality, I really wouldn't mind Dattebayo dropping Bleach. They don't do the greatest job, but there is one factor. That is timely release. They always have Bleach subbed a couple hours after it's Raw release. I doubt any other company could parallel that.
Also, if DB does indeed stop subbing Bleach, there is going to be a lot of licensing issues before another company can pick it up. This is mainly due to Viz owning the rights to Bleach in any English translation.
I guess we will have to wait in see Wednesday. Hopefully its a joke, I don't want to have to watch crappy fan subs, tbs.
Oh, and here's the article with a link. DISCUSS!
Dattebayo picks up Genshiken Season 2, Bleach dropped
Dattebayo is proud to announce that we will be subtitling the show "Genshiken Season 2". We encourage you to first watch the hilarious season one of Genshiken available on DVD from AnimeWorks, who generally does a good job with releases.
Genshiken 2 is a 12 episode extension of the original 12 episode and 3 Genshiken OAV series.
This show is a lot different from our normal fare and introduces some new staff members to our team. Please send us your feedback and let us know what you think of the show.
--The Genshiken Team
Due to complexity of the new series and also due to schedule conflict with Bleach, Dattebayo regrettably announces that Genshiken will replace Bleach on our anime lineup.
Dattebayo is the world's most recognized fansubbing group, with over 700,000 unique views of its products per week. It has served more than 85,000,000 downloads since its inception.
