Default Re: WCW

1999 was do or die for WCW. They chose death.

Honestly, it's just as simple as that. Watch the matches, angles, and shows from 1998. Everything was set for them. Goldberg was every bit as big a name as Steve Austin. The New World Order was as popular as ever, especially with the Wolfpac stable. Merchandise was selling like nobody's business. And guys like Booker T, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, DDP, and Raven all looked like major contenders to move up the ladder within a year.

By 1999, only DDP moved up.

And instead of following up on the pushes of ANY of the young stars on that list, WCW chose to "stay the course" with Hogan, Flair, Nash, and Savage.

It cost them. And it cost WCW fans.

By the time they realized their mistake, it was too late. The New Blood angle fell flat. Every attempt at correcting the mistake fell flat. Because it was just do or die. And you just don't get a "re-do" for a mistake that big and crucial.
