Better late then never ..

Opening Video ruled and was completely original, as opposed to last years which was good however the text was taken from “The Mania of Wrestlemania” special. Anyways, this really got my hyped for what was to come and did its job very well.

Kicking things off with the Tag Team Rematch of all rematches as AMW meets up with WGTT for the second consecutive year at Wrestlemania. I’m sure most expected AMW to tie it up 1 - 1 but I cant argue with WGTT going over as it cements their legacy and they can now move on to bigger and better things.

Mr. T in the HOUSE!! Seriously if this was real, it would be my promo of the night. No one gives out a more awesome nostalgia feel then Mr. T at Wrestlemania and Booker T/Goldust played their part well especially Goldust, as you captured his hilariousness perfectly.

Trish Stratus vs. Shaniqua. For this match alone, I already applaud you. You somehow managed to take Women’s Wrestling and make it interesting, and that’s not an easy task. The buildup was great, with the whole thing being “Trish beat her once, but can she do it again?” Definitely a quality match followed and I suspect we’ve seen the last of “The Amazon”.

Wrestlemania videos are awesome. ‘Nuff said.

JBL’s promo was awesome and this is one guy I am truly looking forward to using on The Smackdown brand. He has great in ring Stan Hansen like skills in the ring and his awesomeness on the mic is for the most part unmatched. The fact that he can go from a midcarder to a main eventer anytime needed is a nice touch as well.

JBL vs. Matt Hardy, FALSE FINISHES GALORE!! JBL doing anything to keep the title and Matt Hardy doing everything in his power to win it. The referee had a lot of power in this match to be able to make rules changes and such LOL. I saw Hardy winning, but with a roll up. Him going over clean with a Twist of Fate was nice to see.

Triple H vs. Shane McMahon, the only thing going into the show that was kinda “whatever” as it was just thrown together in the final weeks before Mania however the match itself delivered and Shane not surprisingly took one of his huge bumps. Triple H goes over and now its time to set his sights back on ME status … or is it? Don’t want to give away any SD spoilers now do I.

Paul Heyman promo further builds the already gigantic Main Event later tonight.

Triple H being forced out of the arena made sense, and it further tick off The Game I’m sure.

The Six Man is up next, and we kicks things off with a classic Hogan promo complete with Mean Gene and all. Hogan, Foley and Rhino not surprisingly go over however I see Dinsmore receiving a push under the tutelage of Flair and who knows, maybe Rhino’s in for more of one as well. We shall see.

HBK is going at it alone. The face turn is imminent …

Roll The Dice is up next, the first fall was kind of lackluster which is actually abit nice seeing as big PPV needs a sort of “cool down” point, Carlito picking up the win was a bit of a shocker but I see him losing the title soon. REY WINS?? Wow. Never saw that one as I thought either Edge was a shoe in for victory here, guess a nice face win for the second half of this match is what needed to happen though and the MITB thing should be interesting throughout the next few months.

HOF inductees in the hizzouze.

Christian cleanly beats Austin in a passing of the torch. I see Christian turning face soon, I must warn you however that his face run in TNA bombed majorly. Hopefully you can handle it a lot better then they did though, Austin’s days are definitely VERY numbered. Uh oh, not another spoiler.

Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle. I LOVED the start with Angle getting Hart in position and then just tapping the ankle as in a way to say “I can beat you at anytime.” Hart WINS!!!! I gues the feel good win was the best route and I would have done the same thing, rebounding Angle from his loss will be a bit of a task but I think I can handle it.

Kane’s back, mask and all, and he kills the lower card heels of both RAW and Smackdown in one night.

Randy Orton vs. John Cena. I really thought Orton was going to win however Cena winning makes sense as an Orton win/full fledged heel turn would just keep these two in the title picture which they’ve already been in for a year, so I think its time to elevate some people and move this into the second slot on RAW.

The Rock and Shawn Michaels … MOTN. Definitely. It could have gone either way, especially with HBK’s face turn although I’m glad Rocky took it. The Rock Bottom off the top rope would rule. Should be interesting to see where HBK goes from here, as I see DX floundering about for not much longer as HBK goes for another face singles run.

MAIN EVENT TIME. Going in I knew there was no way Benoit was losing, you just wouldn’t do that plus he’s your favorite wrestler. Brock looks great in losing though and the fact that you spent more then a paragraph on that crossface segment was really cool. The match was done more then well and having lots of people come out and celebrate with him was cool as well.

Awesome show dude, take some time, and lets kick off the next chapter to this thread with a bang. It will be an honor to work with you and I personally cant wait.

I admit, it has been a while since I’ve reviewed a show, and I really wasn;t planning on reviewing any shows until I start booking again, but this is probably the biggest PPV in BTB history, that I just can’t say no to it, so, here I go….

Wrestlemania Review

Very nice intro, btw.

WWE Tag Team Champions
vs. World Tag Team Champions:

Good Tag Team match, and nice match to start off the show. But truly, with Tag Matches, I like seeing them more than reading them, but this match I found good. Nice action. Not too huge that the rest of Mania won’t be able to top it, and not to bad that all of the other matches will beat it. It is right in the middle, just like an opener is supposed to be.
7.5/10

Women’s Championship Match:
Trish Stratus vs. Shaniqua

Short but sweet match. I’ve heard the name Shaniqua before, but can’t remember from where???? Anyway nice to see Stratus pick up the win. Women matches aren’t really my thing either, and because of that, I will only make this match out of 5 and the Hart/Angle match out of 15, since that was a great match. Anyway, for the grade:
3.5/5

United States Championship;
John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield vs. Matt Hardy

I was kind of disappointed with this. It was better than there match at Armageddon 2005, but nowhere near as good as it could have been. I don’t think doing what you did (with restarting the match and such), it just took the feel out of it to me. I don’t even know what really to say for this match tbh.
5/10

No Disqualifications:
Triple H vs. Shane McMahon

This match was truly a beauty. The story behind why it was so long made true sense (sounds like the real Triple H to me) and Triple H, of course won the match, cause if Shane beat him then it would of taken a lot of credibility away from Triple H. MOTN thus far.
9/10

Inter Promotional Match:
Chris Jericho vs. The Undertaker

Another match that wasn’t as good as it could have been. I expected more, but still nice to see Taker wins, like he should. Anyway, Jericho probably did come the closest to ending Taker’s 13-0 streak, but it ended up becoming 14-0. Ok match, but nothing superb.
7/10

Six Man Tag Match:
Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley & Rhyno vs. Ric Flair, Batista & Nick Dinsmore

Ok, this will be another match that will only be graded out of 5, and Hart/Angle will be graded out of 20 now. This wasn’t anything special. Foley gets the pin after leg drop by Hogan. Nice end, but only not even average match.
2.5/5

Intercontinental Championship;
Roll of the Dice Match:
4: QUINTET SUDDEN DEATH –
2: LADDER MATCH -
Carlito vs. Edge vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Mr. Kennedy

This match was entertaining, exciting, and was excellent overall. Carlito keeps the IC Title and Mysterio, unfortunately gets the MITB. Good match overall. Both of them were actually good. MOTN thus far.
9/10

Inter Promotional Match:
Christian v. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin

This match was of course, to push Cristian. Christian beats the Rattle Snake. Austin loses. He accepts it, and drinks a few beers. What a way to finish off his part of the night. The match was excellent. I really don’t need to say much, but awesome match!!!!!!
9/10

Match of the Millennium:
Kurt Angle vs. Bret Hart

This match truly was Match of the Millennium, and MOTN. Ths match was perfect in my opinion. I couldn’t of asked for a better match. Two real wrestlers that don’t have to jump all over the place to please the fans getting at it. What I would pay to see these two wrestle just once in real life. Well, this will do. I really thought Angle had this, but in the end, the older Bret Hart prevailed, in possibly his last match. What a way to go out.
20/20

World Heavyweight Championship Match:
John Cena vs. Randy Orton II

A WWE Title match with these two could have been much better, and with a different result from last year. God, I fucking hate Cena. I would have really rather had Orton come out on top then Cena. But whatever. That’s life. Cena wins blah blah,. The match was ok, but there match last year was better.
7/10

Icon vs. Icon:
Shawn Michaels v. The Rock

Second most anticipated match for me next to Hart/Angle. As it says, Icon vs. Icon. I saw really nothing wrong. A rockbottom from the top I suppose was the best way to end it. I consider Rock a wwe sellout in real life, but I do hate HBK more for that whole Screwjob in 97 (you know which one I’m talking about). But really, the match measures up to Hart/Angle, and this match was actually much better than I expected, just not the best.
9.5/10

WWE Championship Match:
WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar vs. 2006 Royal Rumble Winner, Chris Benoit

This match was a great way to end the match. I enjoyed there match in real WWE back in late 2003 for the WWE Title (the one where Lesner makes Benoit tap). Anyway, excellent finish to Wrestlemania, with Benoit capturing the title. I would have liked to see Lesner retain, because that never really happens at Mania (the heel winning) and it would have been something different. But I guess what happened happened. Great match.
9/10

Length: 64,000 words!!!! Length is way too much. 10/10

Promos: Promos were top-notch. Not sure what else to say. 10/10

Entertainment: AWSOMEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! 10/10

Overall: 128/150= 85.3%. B+. May not of been the best review you’ve received, but is still a review, and a freebee since I don’t have a show currently, there’s nothing for you to review of mine. Oh well. Excellent show. Hope you make till next year. This was 1000 words total (top included ad parentheses excluded).

Wrestlemania Review- ORRY420

Opening Video:
One word mate- amazing! This could possibly be the greatest opening video I have ever read, just because of the pure fact you could feel the superstars emotion heading into Wrestlemania. Off to a flyer as expected.

AMW vs. Worlds Greatest Tag Team: As expected this match kicked off the show, and obviously it was the best match for the job. I wasn't around the last time your produced Wrestlemania, but I read over it the other day, and I was expecting AMW to tie up one a piece tonight. Much to my suprise, and pleasure, WGTT gets the duke, and hopefully now they can move up the card. ***

Booker T/Goldust/Mr T Segment: Funny little segment here, every Wrestlemania needs a segment or two like this, and I'm happy to say this segment definately provided it. Glad to see Booker got a chance to appear at Mania in some way, shape or form as well.

Trish Stratus vs. Shaniqua: To be honest this was the match I was least looking forward to on the card, just because I'm not a huge fan of Womens wrestling. In any event this match proved to be rather entertaining, and the ending was indeed awesome, with Trish overcoming the odds to knock of the favourite heading into the match. Great story telling, well done. **1/4

Wrestlemania Video 1: I can see this video was made for Eddie, it would have suited him absolutely perfectly:( In any case, this was hillarious, and my personal favourite video of the lot.

JBL Promo: Great promo from JBL. The Wrestling God was 100% in character, and it served it's purpose well in hyping his match with Matt Hardy, a match that I am very much looing forward to. Awesome work here with another near flawless promo, typical Wolfy:D

JBL vs. Matt Hardy: Wow, I absolutely loved every bit of this match! IN fact, I couldn't think of a more perfect way for it to go down. For weeks now you've been building Hardy as the underdog who has transformed into almost the favourite heading into this match, so the realism of JBL doing anything to retain his Title was definately there. Once again your telling of the story in matches was perfect, you truely are the best in the buisness when it comes to this. Hardy wins in the end after the match has been restarted for the third time, and provides yet another great Wrestlemania moment. With Hardy going over a man who has beaten guys like Y2J, Rock and Angle, a main event run can't be too far away for V.1?***1/4

Triple H vs. Shane McMahon: This was, without a doubt, one of the most gruesome matches I have ever read! The brutality these men put each other through was amazing, and once again the story told throughout the match was near perfect. Some amazing spots, combined with great in ring pysch, has made this match MOTN so far. Great stuff, and as expected the right man won in the end. ***3/4

Paul Heyman Promo: Nice promo here man, Heyman was definately in character, and the segment came across well. This was neccesary in further hyping up tonigths main event, which IMO should steal the show.

Triple H/Ricky Steamboat Segment: The General Manager throws Triple H out of the building on the biggest night of the year! This is sure to infuriate the Game, and I wouldn't be suprised to see a feud develop out of this. Yet another solid segment.

Chris Jericho vs. Undertaker: You are the greatest match writer in booking history, it's as simple as that. The realism of Jericho doing anythg to win the match, whether that be throwing dust in Taker's eyes early on, or using the brass knucks, it simply suited the contest to a tee. In the end Jericho's efforts are not enough, and the Deadman once again wins on the biggest stage of them all, further cementing his legacy. ***1/2

Hulk Hogan Promo: This was a decent promo from Hogan, which succesfully added further hype to his match. The Hulkster was in character, and the promo was constructed well, if not a little on the short side.

6 Man Tag Team Match: Despite the fact not much 'wrestling' was on display in this match, it was entertaining none the less. The faces dominated the majority of the contest, maybe slightly too much, and in the end Hogan was able to hit his Leg Drop, allowing Foley to get the pin. Good job, everyone came across looking reletively strong, and by the looks of things Dinsmore is in for a push of sorts in the future. **3/4

HBK Segment: Very short and to the point here. HBK wants to go at it alone tonight, and prove to the world he can defeat The Rock one on one. It will be interesting to see if he can live up to his word, and by the looks of things a face turn might not be too far away.

Roll of thre Dice Match: This was simply a fantastic contest. The Qunitlet Sudden Death Match was the obvious choice for Intercontinental Title bout, as it gave the superstars a chance to warm up and prevent any major injuries adhead of the inevitable Ladder Match. Suprisingly, Carlito manages to win the first fall and retain his Title, which was a very nice suprise. Next came the Ladder Match and much to my dissapointement Mysterio wins the contract. I was hoping for an Edge or Kennedy win here, but I guess we'll have to wait and see if you give Rey the title? ****

Hall of Fame: Hall of Fame was written well, and served it's pupose in giving the new inductees a chance to appear at Wrestlemania.

Christian Promo: Awesome promo from Captain Charisma here. There was no funny lines or quirky jokes tonight. Christian is all business heading into the biggest match of his career. If and when Christian goes over tonight, it's only a matter of time before he becoms Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Christian vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin: Fantastic contest which was made that much better with Christian going over clean. Austin did the job, and now Christian can move onto bigger and better things. I can see Captain Charisma becoming the number 1 guy in your thread very shortly, if he's not that already. Great contest and a great result! Well done mate. ***4/5

WM23 Announcement: Great to see Mania will be coming to Louisiana, and if you make it that far, which I'm sure you will, it will be even bigger than this years! (Which is very hard to believe:))

Kurt Angle vs. Bret Hart: This could possibly be, the greatest ever match in BTB history! From start to finish Kurt Angle vs. Bret Hart had me completely enthralled, and I can honestly say this is best match I have ever read, bar none. Awesome, awesome contest between two of the greatest wrestlers who ever existed, and the result was simply perfect. What a way to end the match and one of the greatest Wrestlemania moments of all time. *****

Pipers Pit: Piper didn't get much air time in this one, but I suppose the host was really irrelevant. Maven leads his band of merry men to the ring, only for all of them to get completely owned by the returning Kane, mask and all. Kane simply demolishes the jobbers, and makes a huge impact upon his return.

John Cena vs. Randy Orton II: This match was decent, and considering the two guys involved, I think you did a great job with it. After both men kicked out of numerous pinfall attempts, Cena wins with a rollup which to be honest was a bit of a letdown. I don't think we've seen the last of these two guys feuding with each other, and despite the lack of great wrestling matches, I look forward to seeing where you taek this! ***

HBK vs. Rock: What a way to start off this amazing contest with both guys stealing each others taunts. That's very realistic IMO and I could definately picture that happening. Throughout the match we are privvelaged to wintess some awesome spots, including the Rock Bottom through thr announce table! In the end both Michaels and Roick kick out of each others respective finishing moves, but it is the Rock who is able to nail the Rock Bottom off the top rope to pick up the victory. Awesome match, second MOTN so far behind Angle/Hart. ****1/2

Brock Lesnar vs. Chris Benoit: Despite the fact that Benoit was obviously going to win the Title, this was an awesome match nether the less. Benoit and Lesnar wreslte to a memorable match, which would be amazing to see on TV, and on the end the Crippler is able to lock in his dealy Crossface, and force Lesnar to submit. A great ending to a great match, and the perfect way to end Wrestlemania, with Chris Benoti celebrating as the new WWE Champion! ****1/2

Overall: This was the greatest PPV in BTB history, so lets not beat around the bush. Awsome work here man, it was a pleasure to read and review, well done. 9.5/10!

Ok, finally got this up, a week late and probably one of my more quicker PPV reviews as I reviewed the last 6 matches today! You should be proud!

Da Wolf Guy’s WrestleMania Review:

Glad to be able to review a WrestleMania of yours, also your first in 17 months! Wow, good to see you make it that far. Anyways, opening video seemed like something WWE would do, I always have liked when they show the superstars in the empty arena in the ring. Anyways, good video and a great way to get everyone pumped up for tonight.

And as expected, we’re kicking things off with the champions vs. champions match, a very good choice on your part for this. Seems with the beginning of the match, we’re going to be seeing a very quick and technical match up. Shelton being dominated right now, he gets a tag and that’s good, let’s see what Haas can bring to the table now. Wow, nice to see a Spinebuster turned into a Sunset Flip once again reversed by a cradle, that’s a first timer! Seems WGTT are dominating Harris right now and doesn’t seem like Storm could be in for a while. Been a quick match so far and nothing major special but guessing we’ll get some more as the match progresses along. As you mentioned, rare to see Storm drop a Leg Drop over the ropes, anyways it’s seems the match is picking up a little as we’re beginning to head to the end apparently. Ouch, some big spots there and Storm just got dragged off, and then took a Dragon Suplex? Wow! Shelton did it all himself, Haas takes a bump and Benjamin gets out of the Death Sentence! Nice ending to a good WM opener and had some good spots to begin the night with

Fun little segment but as Spartan said, where was the “I Pity the Fool” You just can’t see Mr. T without hearing him say it. Otherwise funny little segment and didn’t seem filler at all, kinda similar somewhat to the Goldust/Gregory Helms segment from your last year’s WrestleMania.

Seems like early on it’s going to be a game of Shaniqua dominating Trish, really it does seem like that from reading the beginning. Wow, didn’t think she’d be getting that Powerbomb this early and luckily for Trish, she can’t do so. Interesting, doesn’t really seem like we’re in for too long of a match and the action seems to be all being stuffed in right now. Shaniqua is going to do anything to hit that Powerslam, it’s like her fourth time to try it in a minute! Thought it could have been over after the Powerbomb, really thought it was. Chick Kick and it’s over. Really nothing special, seemed too short to amount to anything but the time it was given, it was ok. Now goodbye to Shaniqua and wondering whom Trish challenges next?

Ok, seeing you’re counting down the top three, not surprised Chavo got #3 but pretty sure Christian ended up getting #1

Good, hard felt promo from JBL hyping the match up even more and you could just tell that that was one of your best JBL interviews. And he wasn’t even interviewed is the scary thing. Time for our first new champion to be crowned tonight.

Looks like we’ll be having the Cabinet outside tonight, making it seem even harder for Hardy’s chances but I’ll still say he wins. Well never mind guess they won’t be! But um, right out of the gate JBL is dominating, seems like he might have a good fight until Hardy comes back into it and hits his key moves giving him the title. Wow, something different there and didn’t think the match would end this early, glad it didn’t. Nice to see Hardy take JBL with the element of surprise with the dropkick taking JBL down. Big Boot, that’s got to be it right there or at least a closer chance for JBL. After the first call, kind of thought this would happen and no problem as it certainly means this next fall will be the final. Hardy is about to win the gold. JBL’s trying everything now, doesn’t seem to be in his favor though at this very moment. Bulldog, then Side Effect, Hardy’s getting very close to walking away with the title, I can feel it. Cabinet’s back but I still don’t think they can do too much to help their mentor regain the title. Nice ending with miscommunication between the Cabinet and we do indeed have a new champion. Great and fun little match that was different from other matches as being broken into 3 little matches but still, it was a fun read.

And here comes probably one of the more brutal matches for tonight, this truly is going to be one sick match given both men have had their experiences being hardcore. In the early stages, it seems as if always, Shane isn’t going to lie down and something big is going to have to happen to keep Shane from staying down. Triple H doing it big right now as he’s hit some key moves but still, Shane o Mac won’t let those keep him down, well Hunter won’t anyways! Wow, how did Shane get back into it, see him having a small beat down on Hunter, then a key mistake costs him this advantage he has right about now. Long fall for McMahon there rolling all the way down the stairs, and wow this beating is becoming personal now. Wow, Steve-O. Couldn’t help but laugh thinking he would make a big difference in the match helping Shane. Of course, the sledgehammer is coming into play, what would Triple H be without the sledgehammer? And the real beating is coming now; McMahon is about to take one hell of a beating, for sure! The blood has begun to flow; only time tells until how longer this match can go on. And more blood, Triple H certainly has this one for sure now. Wow, Shane is somehow finding a way to reverse all these moves, how does he do it? Wow, kind of surprised to see a table spot so early on, thought maybe one would happen during the Ladder Match but guess not. Either way, Shane o Mac certainly has the advantage back right now. First pin, on a side note, glad to see the lack of pin falls so far as it makes it seem both men want to beat down one another, then worry about the pins later. With these back to back insane moves, something tells me Shane o Mac tries something insane and misses, it has to be coming! Holy shit, they’re not climbing, they are! Wait, why would there be a sledgehammer 50 feet in the air on the titantron! I know, it was probably there but kind of funny, anyways, Shane’s down. This has to be it. And certainly a WrestleMania ending that will be remembered with Hunter taking Shane from the back of the arena on the stretcher, then shoving him off the stage and the Pedigree! Classic brawl and that’s all it took, HHH has made his mark tonight.

Lesnar is intent tonight on retaining the title, too bad we know it’s not going to happen. It’s time for Benoit to shine now and he certainly will do that, if he has a good title reign, which I can expect him to have.

Short promo and wondering really what came out of it. Hoping we don’t get a Steamboat/HHH feud as HHH seems ready to be propelled back to the top now. He’s been being built well and heading towards the title would help him a lot.

And here we go, ‘Taker’s streak on the line as always but Jericho could put up a good fight and will fall in the long run. Wow, Jericho is desperate to beat ‘Taker and end the streak, he did something no one has done before with the dust. Jericho showing he will indeed do anything and everything tonight for that win but he won’t get it either way. Jericho is going to have to do something major if he even wants a chance to win tonight, even though we all know ‘Taker’s got it in the bag. No Victory Rolls are working tonight for Jericho, even though he’s tried like 5 times! Haha, wow Jericho thinks smart there and he might win…by count out! Well maybe not but it happened to be smart thinking on Jericho’s part! Old School, then Chokeslam. Been a good match so far, nothing major has happened but nothing bad either. Really, Jericho is desperate to win and it’s showing, first the handcuffs, now the brass knucks, what’s next? It’s getting close to possibly being the ending for Jericho, seems like this match is getting ready to wear down. ‘Taker got the DDT, the ending certainly is near! Wow, good to see the Walls of Jericho is introduced and nice to see Jericho once again take advantage, this time by using the turnbuckle. Jericho’s cockiness comes out here with the ending and that’s it, ‘Taker is now 14-0. Fun little interpromotional match that wasn’t anything too special but was nothing bad, fair match.

Old school interview backstage, good idea and of course, Hogan was in character with all his dudes and brothers. The faces probably will take the win tonight but can’t really be guaranteed since in the first 5 matches, 4 faces have won.

This won’t be the prettiest match but you could tell it will be memorable considering the three legends you have in the ring right now. Cool to see Hogan and Flair start it off, gives it the old school feel tonight. Fun little beginning to it with each man getting their own revenge against Flair, well actually it’s Rhyno’s turn now. And wait, battle of the behemoths. Pretty good showdown so far with both men fighting it out, funny to see Dinsmore taunt Hogan and Flair. Dinsmore getting a little bit too cocky right now, wait here comes Foley! Dinsmore has been showing his wrestling side tonight, glad to see that be able to shine through. And here it comes, Foley meets Flair once again and this one won’t be pretty. Classic Flair doing anything and everything he can to take the advantage during the match up. Wow, Flair flew tonight, only at WrestleMania! Seems to eager though and Foley’s got him now, doubt that will be it though. Guess you missed this but Hogan was just lowblowed, then he started working back on Flair right after? Hogan seems to be the man they’re choosing to work on, albeit it seems a little late in the match up for that. Hogan is hulking up, must mean the faces are about to take another win! OJ? Major error though as I don’t see Orlando Jordan in the match! Haha, that’s minor though. Classic Double Arm DDT from Foley, that’s got to be it right there for his team. Batista does the dirty work, and then Dinsmore gets the pin, sounds classic right there on Dinsmore’s part! Another lowbrow, wasn’t Hogan low blowed like five minutes ago? No Figure 4, it’s the Mandible Claw for Flair! That’s it, classic ending with the beat down making sure no one can get it and that was a fun nostalgic type match there.

Interesting promo and the dissension between D-X has been going for months and it seems as if we’re about to see a break up in the group. They’ve been together for almost a year now which is hard to believe but still, something is bound to happen soon.

Ok, time for one of my most anticipated matches, as these are always fun to read and see what people can do with their MITB Matches. I don’t see too much action happening here in the beginning of the match, of course that will probably all be saved for the Ladder Match! And Kennedy is in now making his debut; I’m just wondering who could end up finding themselves the IC Champion when the first match is done with. Haha, Edge wants to save his energy, smart thinking as always right they’re for the Rated R Superstar! Little bit of brawling between Carlito and Kennedy and now here comes Rey, let’s see what he can do! Of course, Edge naturally wants in when Rey is in the match and is down, of course! Well maybe not, Edge is going to have something major happen to him during that ladder match and I have a feeling it’s going to be something big. A lot of reversals tonight and the Backbreaker would have been sick followed by the Rolling Thunder! Hmmm, interesting tag right there from Carlito to Mysterio. And I knew if Carlito found a way to retain, it would be by cheating and that’s exactly what he did, no surprise there! No wasting time as we are immediately getting to the action right now it seems. Carlito is bringing out his athletic side tonight, showing he can hang in the ring with some of the flyers. Wow, Buzz Killer, then a few minutes after the Green Bay Plunge, sick move there and I used it in my WM too, so yeah! Yeah, 619 onto the Ladder move after move after move tonight! Spot fest here similar to my Mania MITB, which had its spot fest, too as that’s what they are for anyways. Damn, the Kenton Bomb follows right after and I mean it, we’re just seeing everyone go all out tonight. Sunset Powerbomb, then goes Mysterio out of the ring, been a good match so far. RVD’s looking pretty hot right now in the match, could he be the one that takes the MITB briefcase tonight? Every man is down! Except for RVD! Wasn’t Alfonso just released, wait it’s Sabu! Shit, Sabu’s out here right now, Arabian Facebuster! Carlito won’t win MITB too, who’s going to win it though! Wow, Edge spears Carlito, and then Mysterio takes advantage, I could see Edge and Rey feuding over the briefcase now with Edge saying he should have won it, etc.

Fun little Hall of Fame segment but nothing too major, just go get them on the show and note them was indeed fine. An good interview, seen better from Christian but we’ve got to remember that he’s in a serious manner tonight not wanting to mess around, crack jokes.

And Christian gets the advantage first; acting as if he was scared and it certainly seems Christian will go over Stone Cold tonight. Ouch, poor Christian and he definitely must be hurting considering the ten atomic drops he just took. Tomko looks like he might be out for a little while, and it will make the match seem better anyways without Tomko. Austin is embarrassing Christian tonight, not even having to use many of his tactics tonight. Hmmm, remember the Glass Jar being busted at one WM, believe it was WM 16 but can’t remember but anyways, yeah Christian has Austin down and bleeding and if he wants to take advantage, now is the time! Christian might have Austin down but he might want to be careful, as we all know, Austin likes to make comebacks when they are least expected from him. Austin won’t go down with a Sleeper, it will take something major to keep the Texas Rattlesnake down and out. And as mentioned, Austin can and will fight back whenever his opponents expect it the least. Could that be it, by the way nice way for Austin to hit the Stunner by countering the Unprettier? Christian surprises everyone here with the Frog Splash, guess you’re going to start bringing that into his repertoire of moves. Nothing major about the ending other than the Unprettier gets hit and that’s it! Ok match, thought it could have been more but what more can you get out of Austin.

Yes! WrestleMania is coming to my home state, son that’s going to be an major event, really can’t wait for ‘Mania in the Big Easy!

And here we go, the match that is appropriately being billed as the Match of the Century. The greatest built up match as it’s been going since last summer, and let’s go ahead and get this match up underway I’m pumped! It’s going to be interesting to see how Hart does seeing as he can barely hang with Angle in the beginning it seems. It’s seeming right now as the match is a “You do your move, I’ll do my move” type match up which is fine, makes it more interesting. Hart is showing Angle he can still hang with the best despite the opening; let’s see how Angle progresses through the match up. Well Angle gets the Belly to Belly, seems the advantage is about to head back to the Olympic Gold Medalist. Knew something was up when Angle wanted another lock up, seems like Angle could be in the dominating phase of Hart right now, let’s see. Angle’s domination didn’t last for too long though, thought he might have began wearing down Hart but it doesn’t seem that way. Wow, classic Angle there playing possum and he just got Hart, and the steel steps shot won’t end up helping Hart anymore now. Angle just will find any way to win this match, doesn’t matter if it’s count out or not, he just wants to say he beat Hart but I don’t know if it will happen or not. Belly-to-Belly but no Moonsault, Angle could have just given Hart a major chance to turn the match around somehow if he can get back onto his feet. Hart is making it harder and harder for Angle right now and Angle will be lucky if he does win tonight at this rate. No way Hart is going to get the Sharpshooter on that early and he should know that. Haha Cole called the Side Suplex the Angle Slam. Guess it’s somewhat like it but it’s not completely. Angle is just out there killing Hart right now and he’s not going to give up until Hart doesn’t have an ankle. No Angle Slam there and Hart has found a way back into it. Wow, Hart’s just throwing it all out there on the line tonight but he just can’t seem to get it right here and now. Thought Angle could have had it there when he countered the victory roll, but knew it wouldn’t end like that. Angle Slam! Wait, Hart got lucky there because Angle very well could have had it there! Ankle Lock, this can’t be it right now for Hart can it? Wow, Hart has got the Sharpshooter in! Angle tapped out! Shocker of the night there and I thought Angle could have “ended” Hart’s career with a win tonight but Hart needed the feel good win. You could feel like you were there during the match, that’s how well described the match was.

Ok, time for the Pit, little break before we get onto our final three matches and good to see another legend on the show, this being Piper. Nothing major but Kane is back and he seems to be better than ever. That was a lot of Chokeslams too and wow, Pete Rose just never gets enough and always has to come back, huh?

Can the third time be the charm for Orton? Doubt it and as I expect, Cena will find a way to walk back home with the World Heavyweight title. I’m not expecting this to be the prettiest match we’ve ever seen and it seems it’s just going to be a straight fight for the belt. You know Orton of course has to cheat somehow and he does so here. Now let’s see if he can actually take advantage of the match is the question. Quick Throwback in the match and guessing this match won’t last too long, I’m giving it 15-18 minutes. Orton is just doing what he does best, trying to avoid and get into the mind of the challenger, which he normally does well. Haven’t seen much wrestling in the early stages, just the few basic moves so hopefully it begins to heat up. Picture perfect dropkick followed by the Crossbody but Cena of course finds a way to counter. Wow, surprised to see the RKO so early on and he even fell of the shoulders of Cena before delivering, this match is heating up now. No RKO but the DDT might just wear Cena down but it won’t be enough of course. Orton is just doing everything he can do but he just can’t get the win, either way something tells me Cena finds a way to retain. Five Knuckle Shuffle followed by F-U, wait no he gets the STFU on! Orton got to the ropes but I still don’t believe he has what it takes right now to find a way to win the belt. F-U but no referee, Cena will still find a way to retain. I don’t know how but Orton just hasn’t had the hype that would allow for him to win the title here tonight. Belt shot but no, that won’t be it and Cena is lucky it won’t be it either or he wouldn’t be the champ right now. No RKO, it’s a schoolboy and there we go, Cena has retained the gold here tonight.

Thought maybe a segment in between would have been good instead of just a video package, anyways let’s let Rock vs. HBK commence.

And here we go, battle of the egos and it certainly seems it’s going to end up being that way throughout the entire duration of the match. The match feels like it’s coming straight from the Attitude Era, it’s great with all the electricity in the arena! Old school HBK there showing the signs of disrespect and it seems we could se HBK pull out some more of those pranks throughout the match up. Rock’s starting to light it up in there and it seems if he continues to beat down HBK like this, he could find himself a key win tonight. Little bit of fight coming from HBK but still not enough, seems like Rocky could dominate the match and we see HBK sneak out with the win, we’ll have to see what happens though. Didn’t think Rocky would be able to deliver the Rock Bottom there and of course, Michaels will find a way to counter it. Wow, interesting move with the Headscissors to the outside and that would have been pretty neat coming from the Showstopper to see. Rarely see Michaels do the Pescado, which was nice, and we know he can do it, he just never does it anymore in the ring. Didn’t think anyone would go through the table but Michaels has to start watching himself, he just got stalked with a clothesline from Rocky. Wow, didn’t expect the Sweet Chin Music so early but he did miss though. Haha, I wish I could have seen Rocky’s face whenever Michaels nipped up before the People’s Elbow. DDT and I’m beginning to wonder why the fans are purely supporting HBK tonight instead of Rocky. Wow, the ref is down again and of course, Michaels has to take advantage with the Low Blow, this must be the turning point in the match. Wow, can’t believe HBK just stole Rocky’s move and he did it through the Spanish table. Two tables that have been destroyed here tonight! HBK takes Rocky down and it seems like we could be nearing the ending of the match since HBK delivered the Flying Elbow. Wow, the ref is down again! The ref’s just don’t seem to be having the luck tonight. Sweet Chin Music! Too bad there is no ref but Rocky does get a low blow, sort of revenge for earlier on I see. Moonsault time! He nailed it and wow, it would have been awesome to see both men nip up at the same time, would have generated that WrestleMania feel that you get. People’s Elbow isn’t going to do it but it could help Rock soon. Third Sweet Chin Music, that’s got to be it there! They just won’t give it up and the Rock Bottom! Still not over, wow I’m wondering how this will end. Wow, nice ending and never have seen the Rock Bottom from the top rope, that certainly will end it there and Rocky gets the win, the feel good win to end this tumultuous feud he had with HBK.

Loved the Benoit/Lesnar video package, certainly seems like something the WWE would do and once again, it was great.

And here we go, a true main event that will be remembered as this is going to be a downright wrestling clinic in which Benoit will bring out the best in Lesnar. Let’s get it started! Lesnar should have known it won’t end that easily, that could be his key mistake and it was this early on too! Benoit is going to have to be careful what he does because one slip up and Lesnar will eat Benoit apart, and Benoit made some crucial mistakes, one going for the Crossface so early on. Ouch, Benoit made another key mistake there with the Tope through the ropes, kind of reminds me when he collided with the Smackdown table last year. And Brock is beginning to wear down Benoit, which has been Benoit’s major mistakes going for it all in the beginning. Wow, the power of Lesnar was just shown by reversing the German into a Belly-to-Belly, he certainly has shown his dominance here. Benoit is getting torn apart and the Spinebuster from Lesnar certainly did help the fact of the matter even more for the Rabid Wolverine. Benoit is getting some offense in now which he needed considering the beating he has taken from Lesnar so far. So much for Benoit’s offense and he doesn’t get too much in on the Iron Man. Wow, both men were going insane in the ring with the German Suplexes, thought it would never end up ending. Double Powerbomb won’t even keep Benoit down which wants to make you wonder what if, anything can keep the Rabid Wolverine down. Bear hug won’t keep Benoit down and he won’t just let Lesnar take him out like that. And as it was mentioned, another Belly to Belly Suplex and Benoit won’t give into Lesnar. Wow, Lesnar tries again for the F5 but once more fails, seems like the three Germans are coming. Wow, wait it was the Three Amigos. Either way, never seen the third one end with a Superplex so that was something different, pretty neat if you ask me about it! No Diving Headbutt and the F5, Lesnar finally hits it! Benoit kicks out, makes Lesnar look weak here but at the same time makes Benoit look strong. Lesnar just had to didn’t he? He just had to try for that Shooting Star and he should have known he would miss, that is indeed the turning point of the match now. Sharpshooter didn’t last too long as Benoit saw Lesnar reach the ropes, either way the match is starting to slowly wind down. Three German’s once again, the master of the Germans so to speak could be heading home with the title soon. Crippler Crossface! We’re looking at our new champion right now! Wow, Lesnar gets a cradle but the Crossface stays on! And he does it again, wait Lesnar taps! Lesnar taps! Lesnar taps! We have a new champion! Nice ending to the show with the big celebration and the video package.

Very, very good opening video, which was very realistic in terms of what would actually happen at Wrestlemania, with not only the history of Wrestlemania done, but the main stars talk about their moments and hype up their feuds as well. One of the best opening videos I’ve ever seen, if not the best one, which gets the night of to a great start

I knew this match would start the show, even though it is not what I would have gone with myself (but seeing how the JBL/Hardy match was booked, this makes sense) Some good wrestling between the two tag teams to start the show, which is what would be expected, with their being some nice tag team work, which is always good to see. Loving the way the death sentence was countered, with Shelton leaping to the top rope, which was a nice spot to have. WGTT have the match won, but Benjamin is taken out of the ring, as I guess we are coming to the end of the match. Haas misses the plancha, which should be enough to give AMW the win, but Shelton fights back, and gets the win. Hand shake after the match was good as well, making sure that we know they are still all faces. Nice opening match, which was short enough to make it interesting for the whole match, but still not too sure that this should have opened, with it not having enough spots/action until the end, and the finish did seem to be a bit rushed. Still, a good enough opener to the show, and I sense this isn’t over yet - **1/2

Loving the Goldust/Booker/Mr T promo, which is the kind of comedy segment that happens every year at Mania, and these were the right people to put in it. Loving Mr. T, and it would be interesting to see him back full time, but that isn’t going to happen

Womens match is next, and I guess this is going to be short and sweet, and full of action for a women’s match. Shaniqua’s power enables her to take advantage early in the match, which was always going to happen, but Trish has enough about her to keep herself in the match. Loving the way that Shaniqua came off in this match, with Trish hitting moves to her, but Shaniqua recovering before Trish can do anything. Would make Trish’s win look even better if it happens. Trish manages to kick out of the Powerbomb, which is great to see, and then she nails the chick kick to get the win. Good women’s match here, and a good win for Trish, who is now the dominant female on the roster it looks like. Only problem is the lack of challengers she has, but I’m sure you can bring someone in, or build up what you have - **1/4

JBL promo was pretty good, putting over the fact that JBL has been in the main event, and Hardy hasn’t. Should be a good contest, and I don’t think the feud will be over, whatever the result

Good to see the Cabinet barred from ringside, as it makes it an actual 1 on 1 contest, which should favour Hardy, and it seems to do so, with him dominating the early part of the match, allowing JBL to walk away and get himself counted out. Match restarts with no countouts, which pretty much guarantees JBL will get himself Dqed at some point, and then the match will restart with no DQ’s, but this is going to get Hardy over huge if he wins the match. JBL though briefly gains the advantage, but Hardy fights back, and nails the side effect, but can only get a 2 count. He hits the leg drop, but the Cabinet are back, and helping to save JBL’s title. Hardy takes down the Bashams though, and then JBL hits the CFH to Noble, allowing Hardy to nail the twist of fate, and get the win. Huge, huge win for Hardy here, who was booked brilliantly and comes off looking extremely strong as a result of this. Got to be a sign that he is going towards the main event soon, but I guess he has a nice US title reign first. Solid match here, and seeing how it turned out makes sense as to why it didn’t open the show. - **1/2

HHH vs. Shane is next, and this is likely to be a hell of a brawl, with a lot of spots, but every Mania needs that kind of match, and these two should be able to put on a great contest. Good to see Motorhead playing HHH to the ring, as it gives it a sense of more importance. Shane throws everything he has at the Game to start the match, but he just seems to swot him away. Loving the use of Steve-O from Jackass, with him taking the chair away from HHH, allowing Shane to take down HHH. HHH though gets the sledgehammer, but Shane gets rid of it with a dropkick. HHH goes to put Shane from the table, but he gets nailed with the sledgehammer by Shane, who has enough in him to put him through the table with the flying elbow, but HHH manages to recover and kick out after a long delay. Shane then hits the coast to coast, but again, HHH kicks out, and he is determined not to lose. HHH starts to run away from Shane, but Shane falls 50 feet in the air, and that has to be end of Shane as far as this match is concerned. The medics take Shane away, but HHH comes back and beats the hell out of the medics, making sure he beats the hell out of Shane a bit more. He nails the pedigree, and that is it, as HHH gets the win. Very brutal match here, with some great spots as you would expect in a typical Shane match. Doubt we’ll be seeing Shane for a long time after this, while it gets HHH over as a top heel again - ***1/2

Loved the Heyman promo, and it puts over the fact that Lesnar will do anything to keep the title. Makes Lesnar look extremely dangerous, and that is a good thing

Tazz wants to choke out the Coach, and I guess that will eventually happen at some other ppv in the future. Guess this argument between the commentators is thrown in to cover the gap while Shane would have been taken away, but still, a nice interlude to have

HHH is taken out of the building by the security, making sure that he cannot destroy Wrestlemania. I can’t see this leading to a feud with Steamboat to be honest, and it did seem kind of filler, but had to be there to finish the angle of HHH trying to destroy Mania. Guess he gets some revenge on Smackdown though

Jericho vs. the deadman now, and loving the heel tactics that Jericho used to start the match, throwing dust at Taker, but Taker kicks out of the enzeguiri. Jericho goes for the crossbody, but Taker catches him, and nails him into the steel. Loving the desperation in Jericho, with him trying nothing but roll ups for a while in the match, but Taker managing to kick out of all of them. Jericho gets the handcuffs, and he cuffs Taker to the ringpost, which was great to see, as he will do anything to win the match. He tries to get Taker counted out, but on 9, he breaks them and gets into the ring. Some great psychology here from Jericho, who is the star of the show so far tonight. Jericho kicks out of the chokeslam, as we are getting towards the end of the match here I would guess. Taker collapses when doing the Last Ride, as Jericho nailed him with the brass knucks, but Taker kicks out of it again. Breakdown and the Lionsault are both not enough, as Taker is kicking out of everything at the moment. Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho but that still isn’t enough, as Taker gets to the ropes and breaks it, and then he hits the Tombstone, to get the win and keep the streak going. Great match here, definitely the match of the night so far, with the whole idea of Jericho doing all he can to break the streak worked well. Jericho was brilliant in this match, and the fact he is saying that it isn’t over means that one of them will probably switch sides in the draft - ****

Nice bit of nostalgia with the Hogan interview, which just hypes up the 6 man tag match a bit more. Not the greatest promo ever, but it doesn’t really matter, as that was all about getting the Hogan interview

Motorhead play Evolution to the ring, which was nice to see, and then the match gets underway. Hogan and Flair start it off, and loving the fact that Hogan uses Flair’s tactics, with him having learnt something from all the matches they have had in the past. Foley hits the elbow, and then Flair does the flop, as this match is probably going to be more about the story and the history than actual wrestling I would guess. Rhyno and Batista get tagged in, and then Batista starts to beat down Rhyno, who I guess is going to be the face in peril for a part of the match. Rhyno survives the double teaming in the corner, and then tags in Foley, who gets taken down by Dinsmore, who is looking very good in this match so far. Hulk gets back in, and then he starts to hulk up, and this isn’t going to be good for Evolution at all. Hogan takes them down, and then he tags in Foley, who has the match won with the double arm ddt, but Batista breaks the count. Batista though nails the Batista Bomb to Foley, but the count is broken. Flair goes for the figure four, but Foley locks in the mandible claw on him, and as Flair and Batista fight it, Rhyno nails the gore. Hogan nails the leg drop, and Foley covers, giving them the win. Not the best match ever, but it ends the feud nicely, and gave Evolution a chance to shine at Wrestlemania. The aftermath would have got a big pop, with Hogan posing for the crowd - **1/4

Shawn looks to be turning face, as therefore, DX breaking up as a result of that. Looks to be a continuation of what happened on Smackdown really, and HBK back as a face will be interesting to see… and also, what will happen to DX

5 way sudden death match is the first fall, which had to be expected, and I guess this match will be reasonably short, so that the ladder match gets a bit more time. RVD and Rey start off, but it isn’t long before KK is in the match. Loving Kennedy doing the RVD taunt to him, which was a nice touch to have. All the men get some time in the ring, which is good to see, and loving Edge doing the heel thing and going on commentary, which would have been a treat to see. Rolling thunder would be enough, but Carlito breaks the count. The action spills to the outside, as RVD takes down Edge, and as Rey goes to do the same, Carlito rolls him up and steals the win. Nice to see Carlito keep the title, which I would have never seen coming to be honest, but I guess he holds it for a bit longer. Nice first match, but the big stuff comes in the ladder match now I guess. Start of the ladder match was very bitty, and didn’t flow too well, but that tends to happen in these kind of matches, and I guess it is just being set up for the big spots. Buzz Killer, and then the Green Bay Plunge off the ladder were nice spots to have, and this match is entertaining, if not spotty. Loving the 619 onto the ladder, which you had to see happening at some point, only for Rey to be beaten down on the ladder. Rey gets to the top of the ladder, and has it won, but Kennedy pushes him out of the ring and to the outside. RVD hits the Van Damninator to Kennedy, taking him down, and then starts to climb the ladder, but Edge is there as well, but Edge is knocked off. RVD has the match won, but Fonzy is here, and he brings Sabu with him. Sabu beats the hell out of RVD, taking him out of the match, and setting up what should be a good feud. Carlito then knocks Rey and KK off the ladder, and goes up to win it for himself, but Rey takes the ladder away, and Edge spears him in midair… but this allows Rey to swoop in and steal the match and the MITB contract. Bit of surprise to see Rey win especially after him being pinned earlier, but it is a nice moment. Interesting to see how his title shot is booked, if he even gets one, as I’m sure that Edge is going to be gunning for him now. - ***1/4

Nice short Christian promo, which just hypes his match a bit more. Not as funny as he has been in the last few weeks, but I guess he needs to be serious on the eve of Wrestlemania. Can’t see him losing to Austin to be honest, in what should be a good match

Austin and Christian go straight at it, and it doesn’t look as if any time is going to be wasted in this match, as the two men try to beat the hell out of each other I guess. Loving the 10 atomic drops in a row from Austin, who starts off strong, and then the Stunner to Tomko, which is bound to take him out of the match for a while. Nice way to make it a 1 on 1 match between them. Austin likes to use these sets of ten, and has the match won as he goes for the Stunner, but Tomko saves CC. CC uses the sweetie jar on Austin, to gain the advantage, and that could turn the match. Liking the fact that spot was used in the match, as it has always been a good thing to happen at Mania. Austin gets the shoulder up from the pinfall, but Christian then wears him down, locking in the sleeper hold on him, but Austin fights out of it. Austin nails the stunner, but Christian kicks out, which is huge for him, as it boosts him a bit more. Christian nails the frog splash for the first time, but it doesn’t work, as Austin kicks out of that, but then, he nails the unprettier and gets the clean win over Austin. Christian could be on the verge of turning face looking at the aftermath stuff, while I guess it could be the last time that we see Austin for a long time as well. In terms of the match, it wasn’t the best match ever, but was good enough to be a match on the main stage. Bit of a squash down the home stretch really, with Austin not getting any offence in, but that makes Christian as a big star really with the ease at which he won. - **3/4

Louisiana gets Wrestlemania, which I suppose is good, even though I would have wanted it in London… maybe that will be Wrestlemania 24…

Loving the plug for Rocky 6 in the commentary, as Angle vs. Hart is about to begin, and let’s see if it lives up to being the dream match that it has been rumoured to be. Angle starts the match by outwrestling Hart, and Hart grimaces straight away, which isn’t a good sign for him and the rest of the match. Bret though does take Angle down with a nice headlock, and it looks as if this is actually going to be a mat wrestling match for the most part. Hart barely getting a shoulder up to the belly to belly isn’t good for him, but some good wrestling so far. Angle starts to beat on Hart, and he uses the guard rail to cause a bit more pain to him, as he is starting to really take Hart down at the moment. Hart though rolls out of the way to the moonsault, which must allow for Hart to try and fight back into the match, and I guess we are getting towards the ending of the match. Bret goes for the sharpshooter, but he fights back out of it, and then Angle takes Hart down with a series of clotheslines, which Hart can only just kick out of. Angle may have it won, but he lifts Hart himself, wanting to cause more pain to him, and loving the fact the commentators called the move wrong – nice touch. Hart hits the elbow off the second rope, but Angle kicks out at the last. Liking the hint back to the Wrestlemania 10 finish, with Hart escaping it, and then the Angle slam with the foot on the ropes. Angle though locks in the ankle lock, and this could be it, as Hart cant have enough left to get out of the move, but he rolls through it, and locks in the sharpshooter, and Angle has to tap to this. Guessing this is the feel good moment of the show, and it is a great way for Hart to go out by making Angle tap, even though it probably damages Angle quite a bit, with him losing clean to a non-wrestler, even if it is Hart. Still, a very good match to be honest, which did have it’s faults, but a great match between the two of them as they finally lock up. - ****1/4

Good to see the Christian/Tomko video won the voting, but I guess this is the last time we will see these videos get posted…

Time for Pipers Pit before the main event matches now, and this will be a nice little segment to have to give the crowd a break. Piper says a couple of lines, before Maven interrupts him. Would have liked to have heard more from Piper, but no biggy really. Maven complains, as you would expect from him, before he brings out his army of jobbers to try and take down Kane. Loving the fact that Kane is back, with the mask and stuff like that, and straight away, he makes an impact by beating down the army of jobbers that Maven had. Great stuff with the Pete Rose attack, as him dressed as Kane, and brings me back to some of the great moments with Kane beating the hell out of Pete Rose. Good segment here, which gets Kane over again, and gave the crowd some nice moments

Cena vs. Orton is next, and Orton gets a heelish reaction which is interesting to see, and I guess this could be a hint at him turning back heel, which I would prefer. Liking the way the commentators hyped the fact that Orton has never won, and Cena never lost, which makes it more important for both men. Test of strength starts the match, until Orton cheats his way out of, and it looks as if he will be playing the heel again in the title match. Orton tries to duck out of the match, but Cena comes straight after him, and he is fired up. Orton is doing all he can in a cowardly fashion, but it just isn’t working for him, as Cena manages to fight through everything, and rolls through the cross body. Orton goes for the RKO, but Cena counters into the FU, but he reverses it and nails the RKO… but Cena kicks out. Good sequence between them here, and I guess that this confirms Cena wins. Cena gets into his 5 moves of doom, but doesn’t get the fall after the freestyle. He locks in the STFU, but Orton has enough in him to get the ropes. Cena nails the FU, but Orton, playing the heel has made sure the referee was knocked out before hand. Orton gets the title belt, and he nails Cena with it, but Cena kicks out, and then rolls up Orton for the win. But surprised at the ending, as I was expecting a cleaner win for Cena, probably with the FU, as that seemed to be what was hinted at with Orton becoming more and more heelish, the clean win with the finisher would have been the best ending. But this feud is going to carry on definitely, and Orton is likely to go full blown heel. The match itself was solid, but at times in the early going was a bit slow, but the last few minutes were great - ***

Rock vs. HBK now, and this is going to be a dream match, and HBK gets a good pop, which continues his slight turn towards being a face, which could happen in this match. Liking the taunts to start the match, before the action does get underway, and it is HBK who gets the first advantage in the match. The slowish start to this match tells me that it is going to be a long match, with it given a lot of time to develop. Rock goes for the first finisher in the match, but HBK counters out of the Rock Bottom. HBK skins the cat, and then nails the pescado to Rock, as the match is starting to come to life. Looks like we may have another Mania 18 situation here, with the Rock becoming the heel in the match, and HBK the face. Rock nails the spinebuster, but HBK nips up from it. we go back outside the ring, and HBK rock bottom’s the rock through the announce table, which has to take him out of the match, but Rock kicks out. HBK hits the elbow, but he only gets a 2 count from it. HBK hits the SCM to the Rock, but only after he has blasted the referee. HBK then hits the moonsault, but he takes himself out. Loving the moment where they both nipped out, which would have been a great moment. People’s elbow, and Rock Bottom from the Rock, and another SCM from HBK are all not enough to get the win, as this match has definitely come to life now. Rock then goes to the top rope, which is never a wise move, but he hits the Rock Bottom from the top rope, to get the win in what was a great match, and probably the match of the night so far. Slightly better than the Hart/Angle match, and this was really the dream match of the card. Loving the handshake after the match as well, which turns HBK face again I can only presume… just one thing… I’m guessing you watched Rock vs. Hogan before writing this match, as it was similar in a lot of ways - ****1/2

It’s main event time, and this is going to be a very good match, and is going to be similar to the Hart/Angle match in the amount of good wrestling we are going to see. Loving the fact that straight away, they go after each other, and they cannot wait for this match to begin. F-5 attempt in the opening seconds is countered, and this has been a great start to the match. Some good wrestling to start the match, and then loving the spot with Benoit diving through the ropes and into the barricade. Benoit then gets dissected by Lesnar, who is going to be perfect in wearing down his opponent here. Lesnar is throwing a lot of moves at Benoit, but none of them are truly working, and he is kicking out of the lot of them. benoit fights back with a dragon suplex, and then he starts to gain some momentum. Loving the german suplex bit, with Benoit trying all he can to deliver it, and Lesnar fighting back out of it. Lesnar then starts to dominate Benoit again, but he gets the foot on the ropes out of the powerbomb. Bear Hug now wears down the challenger, but at the last, Benoit manages to keep himself in the match, and even though this slowed the match down, it was a good spot to have. Benoit counters out of the F-5, and hits the 3 amigos to Lesnar, which was a nice tribute to Eddie, but Lesnar kicks out. Benoit misses the headbutt, and then is hit with the F-5, but he kicks out, in what is a great thing to see, as he cannot lose the match now. Benoit then moves out of the way, when Lesnar goes for the shooting star, and Benoit locks in the Sharpshooter, and this could be it for the match… but Lesnar manages to get to the ropes. Trifecta of germans is hit, and then the headbutt, but Lesnar will not surrender the match, and this has been a great main event so far. Benoit then locks in the crossface, and this has to be it, but Lesnar rolls through it twice and gets a cover, but both times, Benoit manages to kick out of it, and then eventually, Lesnar has to tap out, and Benoit has finally won the title. Loving the fact that a lot of the roster comes out to clap Benoit, who has finally won the title, which would have been a great way to end the show, and this match was probably the MOTN. Great wrestling action, and again, the finish of the match was done very well - ****1/2

WrestleMania 23 Review

Length
: 128 pages is INCREDIBLE!! 10/10

Opening Video Package: Absolutley incredible Wolfy. This has to be one of the best packages in BTB history, although Arjun's Backlash one ranks up there as well. Still, awesome. 10/10

WWE Tag Team Champions
vs. World Tag Team Champions:
America’s Most Wanted vs. The Worlds Greatest Tag Team

Great way of kicking off the show with the tag match. This was a solid opener, filled with tons of great action. Started off slow, which made it easy to read, but then the pace quickened up and got better on the way. Nice athleticism in the match, especially from the WGTT. Glad to see them pick up the win, but it was somewhat unexpected in my mind, but regardless it's a good win for them. Great ending to the match with Benjamin countering the Death Sentence and ending the match with the Exploder. Nice ending with all four men embracing, showing their character. Overall, a solid opener man. Really was exciting from start to finish, with the slow part in the beginning, but it picked up toward the end of the match. I'll give this a 7.25/10, wasn't a MOTYC or anything, but very solid and a good tag match.

Hahaha, didn’t expect this promo. Really entertaining, all three were in character, but I didn’t see Mr. T’s line!! Ah well, everything in this promo was good besides this.

Women’s Championship Match:
Trish Stratus vs. Shaniqua

Pretty decent women’s match. Shaniqua seemed very dominant in this match, but Trish ends up making the comeback later on in the match. Like how you described her comeback well, and great to see Trish win the title. Don’t know what we’re going to see with Shaniqua now, unless she feuds with Trish for the belt, I don’t see her going far now. Anyway, decent women’s contest, I’ll give this a 6.5/10.

Entertaining JBL promo, very in character, but the thing that dragged this down was the fact that he said Wrestling God twice in one statement, something he normally doesn’t do. Good job of hyping up the match, but I don’t see him walking out with the title tonight.

United States Championship:
John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield vs. Matt Hardy:

This was overall a good match. Not great, and not pretty good, but good. Here’s why. I have never read a match that was ‘separated’ like this. And that was a very interesting concept to this match. You did a nice job of describing Hardy’s fight for the title, after being “screwed” twice in the match, and then pulling the transformation of him being the favorite in the match. Glad to see Hardy win the US Title, after putting up a great fight in this match. Right now, I think this is the second MOTN, with the tag match being first SO FAR. I’m going to be intrigued to see if this feud carries onto Judgment Day, so this should be fun. 7/10.

Triple H vs Shane McMahon:
What a match! Okay, absolute brutality all over the match, probably the most brutal match I’ve ever read. The match told an excellent story, and Shane falling from fifty feet in the air was SICK! Trips taking him off the stretcher seemed very realistic of him to do, so that was a nice touch. Triple H wins, after being through the best match at Mania so far. Great job writing this match Wolfy. 8/10

Nice Heyman promo. Thought he was very much in character during this promo. Came across great, and did its job of hyping the main event, which should be amazing.

Whoa! Steamboat throws HHH out of the arena! I think this may lead to something later on, but I’ll have to see what happens.

Chris Jericho vs. Undertaker:
Well here we go with the first interpromotional match of the night. Nice beginning with Jericho throwing the dust in the eyes of Undertaker and then going for the quick cover. Thought that was creative and I don’t believe that’s ever happened in BTB before. Great job of displaying Jericho’s countless heel attempts to beat Undertaker, in nearly every way possible! Brass knucks, the dust, great job! Undertaker finishes off Jericho in the end, what a match. 7.85/10

Decent Hogan promo, did it’s job of hyping the match. Hogan was in character, with his sayings and what not. 6 Man Tag should be good.

Six-Man Tag Team Match
Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley, Rhyno vs Batista, Ric Flair, Nick Dinsmore:

A decent match, not too much “wrestling” in the match, which isn’t surprising seeing most of the men involved in this match. Faces seemed dominating during the entire match, but great job of showing Dinsmore’s transformation in this match. Faces get the win, not surprising, but I’m intrigued to see what you do with Dinsmore, this should be entertaining to read. 6/10

Interesting HBK segment, looks like he wants to go alone out there tonight against The Rock. DX doesn’t seem happy, could we see something like what happened at WrestleMania X8 with the nWo turning on Hogan?

Roll of the Dice Match:
Simply awesome. Quintet Sudden Death seemed obvious for the first choice of matches, and a good match it was. Great action, and I’m glad that Carlito won, making my choice correct for the first fall. Awesome! Ladder match now, let’s see what happens here. Wow! So many great spots in this portion. Buzz Killer off the ladder sounded sick. GREEN BAY PLUNGE!! THE 619!! SUNSET FLIP POWERBOMB!! APPLE CORE!! Jesus Christ, I’ve never seen so many spots. Sabu!! Holy shit! Looks like we’ll see an RVD/Sabu feud, which could be awesome. SPEAR!! SPEAR!! God damn!! Reminiscent of Wrestlemania 17!! MYSTERIO!! Damn! He was unexpected in my mind. What an f’n match Wolfy. What an f’n match!! 8/10

Christian promo was top notch. He was very much in character, and looks fired up for tonight. I see him walking away the winner.

Christian vs Stone Cold Steve Austin:
Excellent match. Glad Christian went over clean here. Great action throughout, and seeing Austin do the job only means we may see the last of Austin. Might be, but who knows. Captain Charisma may move onto better things now, which may include a World Title Run… :) Great match Wolfy, and a great ending result as well. 7.8/10

Kurt Angle vs Bret Hart:
No words to describe this match. Absolutely awesome. The beginning was amazing, as it showed Angle’s intensity as Hart seemed very frightened. Loved how you showed the amazement of Hart hitting a headlock takedown as a big moment. Angle and Hart are two amazing wrestlers, and you displayed them at their best. The descriptions in this match about each move was amazing, as you showed them putting on a clinic like never before. I am amazed Wolfy. Finish was amazing, glad Hart won to end his amazing career. I wonder where Angle will go from here. Probably going to go to the World Title scene against the winner of Benoit/Lesnar. Regardless, excellent job with this match Wolfy, may be the best match of all-time. 10/10

Good Piper’s Pit. Everyone used was in character, glad to see Kane back in his old attire, and kicking ass like he used to. Hahaha, PETE ROSE!!! LMAO! He gets tombstoned like old times. Great moment.

World Heavyweight Championship:
John Cena (c) vs Randy Orton II

This was a pretty good match. Tough to follow the amazing clinic from Hart/Angle, but I believed this match was pretty good. Started off slow, but that can be good and in this case it was. Cena gets the early advantage in this one, which can only mean Orton’s getting the late push. A couple numerous pinfall attempts near the end of the match kept the match lively, and Cena wins with a rollup, which is a little surprising. Nonetheless, good match considering who was in it, but not as good as the first one last year. 7.25/10

Icon vs Icon:
Shawn Michaels vs The Rock

What an excellent match. This one steals the show, besides Hart/Angle of course. Beginning exchange was pretty good, with a lot of trash talking from the two men. Entertaining to see both men steal each other’s taunts, that was pretty realistic considering it was a heel HBK and a face Rock. Couple good spots in this match, including a Rock Bottom by Michaels through a table! That was great! Again, excellent match, and great finish with The Rock prevailing, and then a handshake at the end. Michaels face turn? Who knows. 9.5/10

WWE Championship:
Brock Lesnar (c) vs Chris Benoit

Excellent video package before the match. Great start with both men brawling after they couldn’t attack one another for the past few weeks. This was an excellent main event, with numerous near falls and great wrestling. Lesnar seemed dominate in this match with Benoit being the underdog, and a late push near the end helps Benoit prevail in stunning fashion! Emotional win for The Crippler, glad to see him FINALLY on top in this thread. Looking forward to see the direction he goes in, in the next few months in this thread. 9.75/10

Overall: 85/100 = B.
Regardless of that grade Wolfy, I thought this PPV was absolutely incredible! The “main event” matches were all stellar, Angle/Hart lived up to its expectations and may never be passed in BTB forever. Benoit and Cena coming out as the big champs on both brands is great, I can’t wait to see the direction this BTB goes in the fallout from WrestleMania, hey, here’s hoping this goes to WrestleMania 23! Cheers! Great show, amazing job, EXCELLENT!!

(Late) WrestleMania Review

Inter-promotional Match: TWGTT vs. AMW: Good match up to kick off what should be an awesome WrestleMania night. Nice action throughout the match, though this contest would have been a lot more intriguing if this match up had a story going in to it (besides the WM21 rematch). Great finishing sequence, with Shelton Benjamin looking incredibly strong in the end, countering two moves before picking up the win with the T-Bone suplex. Haas and Benjamin picking up their second win does a lot for them but the star of this match up was clearly Shelton and I expect to see a split between the two soon enough. Nice match up to kick off the night. 7.5/10

Funny, little segment in between matches to somewhat lighten up the show. Nice to see Mr. T tonight since he is being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Glad to see Booker T on the show since he doesn’t have a match tonight.

Women’s Championship: Trish Stratus vs. Shaniqua: Unlike most ‘ignant’ bookers, I can appreciate a good women’s match, so lets see how this one turns out. Nice story being told through the opening portion of the match, with the monster Shaniqua illustrating the power advantage over Trish Stratus. Good job showing Trish’s resilience by having her roll Shaniqua up in several desperation covers. The finish came a bit earlier than expected but it was a very good (and believable) closing sequence with Trish using every opportunity she had and puts Shaniqua away. 7/10

Great promo from Bradshaw, who is in typical “JBL self-promotion mode”. Effective job reinforcing the underdog theme to this match, with Bradshaw mentioning the megastars that he has defeated. I expect JBL to pick up the victory but Hardy will put up a good fight.

United States Championship: John Bradshaw Layfield vs. Matt Hardy: Steady pace to the match up as Hardy and Bradshaw go back and forth. Not sure if a referee has the right to restart a match under these rules but its Wrestle Mania :D. JBL’s desperation is shown well here, with Bradshaw attempting an incredible amount of covers after the match is restarted. Now JBL gets disqualified, trying to keep the title, but only causing the match up to be restarted again! Solid job, getting over JBL’s determination to keep the title by any means necessary. I got to say though, Hardy isn’t looking particularly strong at the moment, as it has been mostly JBL on the offense. Nice comeback by Matt, leading into the finish. The ending came off a bit anticlimactic with the match being restarted several times, but it was good with Hardy hitting the Twist of Fate for the victory. Nice match. 7.5/10

No Disqualifications: Triple H vs. Shane McMahon: Match up starts off like a complete squash, with Triple H dominating until Shane McMahon shows certain flashes of a possible comeback. Steve-O from Jackass?? This has been the strangest use of fan interaction in a BTB ever. Nice job setting up a scenario where Shane’s comeback is semi-believable. Gruesome stuff here with both Shane-O-Mac and The Game being busted open! GREAT SPOT! Shane flies off of the top and hit’s a patented flying elbow through the announce table. I expected to see that spot but was still shocked to read it. Another great spot with The Van Terminator but once again The Game kicks out!! This match up has really picked up with Shane on the offense. Triple H running away from Shane is a bit unrealistic but it works in this scenario.:eek::eek: SHANE FALLS 50 FEET!!! The Game picks up the victory with The Pedigree. Sick finish to a great match, showing Hunter’s sadistic, vicious side. 8.5/10

Paul Heyman’s promo was needed and added just a little more hype to the main event, WWE Championship match.

Inter-promotional Match: The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho:
The sand into the eyes spot was unexpected but a nice start to the match, as was Jericho willing to take the count out victory over The Undertaker. Once the match got rolling the offense was solid, if not a little unspectacular. The shenanigans in this match up have been spot on and the handcuff spot is no different. That truly illustrated how badly Jericho wants to end the winning streak of The Deadman. This match really picks up with the false finishes and ‘kicking out of finishers’. Taker eventually picks up the win with The Tombstone. DAMN IT!! Well, I guess it had to be done. :$ Good match even with the result. 8/10

In character Hogan promo here with Hulk in typical self promotion mode. Good job capturing Hogan’s character….but I can’t stand him.

Six Man Tag Team Match: Evolution vs. Mick Foley, Hulk Hogan and Rhyno: The crowd heat in the match is incredible, leading to the Hogan-Flair pairing. Pretty good match up here, as everyone gets their ‘time in the sun’. You did a really good job getting everybody over, especially Batista, who looked like a monster towards the end of the match up. The finish of the match was a bit hokey, with everyone hitting a move before Hogan does that damn leg drop. Feel good moment at WrestleMania. I’m a little upset that Hogan was the one to pick up the pinfall, instead of Foley or Rhyno, but its realistic, considering that’s how the Hulkster operates. 7.5/10

Interesting segment featuring D-Generation X there. I guess we’ll be seeing a split soon, possibly leading to an HBK face turn.

Intercontinental Championship & Money In The Bank: Roll of the Dice Match: Not that surprised to see the sudden death format ‘chosen’ for the Intercontinental Championship match. Exciting, fast paced action throughout the contest, perfectly fitting the five man set-up. Shocked that Carlito managed to keep the IC Title, even if he did do it in typical heel fashion. The Money in the Bank match is…a ladder match and this should be a good one, considering the athleticism of the five men involved. The match up turns into a complete spotfest, which is to be expected from a ladder match. Spot of the match had to be the Green Bay Plunge off of the top! Oh SHIT! SABU! Nice job capitalizing on the recent tension between Fonzie and Van Dam, with Alfonso costing RVD the match up. Mysterio grabs the briefcase and the title shot!! Great match, match of the night so far. 9/10

Christian’s promo, much like JBL’s promo earlier, is simply a way to hype up the upcoming important match up. Good job, especially reminding us of his impressive four victories over The Phenom.

Inter-promotional Match: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Christian: CC comes out to a huge pop?? Signaling a face turn maybe? More than likely its just due to the WrestleMania environment. This match progressed during the opening stages like I expected it to, with Christian and Tomko pulling out all of the stops to pull out the victory. Both Christian and Austin took a lot but CC looks really strong in the end, not only kicking out of the Stone Cold Stunner and then pinning Austin relatively clean after The Unprettier. Good match though it was a little short. 8/10

Match of the Millennium:
Kurt Angle vs. Bret Hart:
Nice, long video package to get us hyped for this epic match up…and I am!! Awesome psychology and exchange from Hart and Angle during the beginning portion of the match, with Angle asserting his dominance but Bret showing he may not have a lot of ring rust left on him. Amazing match up here and The Hitman is going toe for toe with Angle. Kurt showing a sick arrogance by not taking the opportunity he had to pin Bret. (On a side note, nice job bringing up the commentary during the matches. It adds a little something.) OH CRAP BRET WINS BY TAP OUT!! I don’t know what to say about this decision. I understand the need to have The Hitman leave on top but then again Angle is sticking around and should have looked stronger coming out of the match. Either way this was a great, great match up. Definitely MOTN so far. 9.5/10

The Piper’s Pit interview show was a decent segment. I understand why Maven and the other jobbers were on the show (to put over Kane) but I felt it kinda drug down WrestleMania. Kane’s appearance would have been lacking something but bringing him back with the mask was awesome and made this segment worthwhile.

World Heavyweight Championship:
John Cena vs. Randy Orton II: After reading the notes, I’m not surprised that this match is going on ahead of HBK-Rock but I still don’t think it’s a great move (mainly cause I think Cena will retain .) Good match up here as Orton continues to show more and more heelish tactics. Lots of people kicking out of finishers tonight, which is typical for a PPV and especially WrestleMania. Orton is almost a full fledged heel here as he drills Cena with the title belt!! Cena kicks out…argh…. it’s a bird, it’s a plane, its JOHN CENA!! :D Cena picks up the win with a simple school boy. Good match up but Orton looks pretty bad losing to Cena twice in a row. 8.5/10

Icon vs. Icon: The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels:
HBK gets a big ovation coming out? Combining that with the fact that he did not want D-Generation X to interfere in the match, may mean we could be close to a Shawn Michaels heel turn. AWESOME description of this match, adding the incredible atmosphere of this match up with the good action going on in the ring. Lots of referee bumps in this match up, which allows a couple of spots that may have caused a disqualification. Great sequence of near falls towards the end, with HBK kicking out of The People’s Elbow and a Rock Bottom and Rock kicking out of Sweet Chin Music!! The Great One finally puts him away with a top rope Rock Bottom!! Don’t think I’ve ever seen Rocky do that before! Sick Spot! The handshake after the match pretty much cements Michaels eminent face turn and was a great way to end the rivalry. 9/10

WWE Championship: Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Royal Rumble winner Chris Benoit:
Main Event time. This should be a great match up, though I was probably looking forward to other matches beside this one (CC-SCSA, Bret-Angle, Rock-HBK). This match up started rather quickly. I thought you would have the two of them mat wrestle for a bit, before unleashing their anger but your way was better having the two fight it out before settling down into some wrestling. The bearhug spot towards the middle was a bit boring but it really picked up after that with Benoit hitting some of his trademark suplexes and then moving into the false finishes. The finish of the match was spot on, shades of WrestleMania 20. Eventually, after what seems like an eternity, Lesnar taps out, giving Benoit his first WWE Championship. Awesome finish to a great match. The aftermath was great too with the lockerroom coming out to congratulate Benoit on his huge win. 9/10

Overall: 9/10 Awesome Pay Per View. Definitely the best that I have ever read. My only problem were with some of the winners but thats all a matter of opinion so I can't really complain. :D Spectacular PPV.

Some of you may have noticed that I've been missing for the last ten days or thereabouts. I didnt think I would've been, but the family went on a last minute trip to see other family members over Christmas, so as a last minute thing, I didnt have a chance to get on before we left.

Needless to say, I'm now back, and am absolutely overjoyed at the response I've gotten for Wrestle Mania. I must thank each and every one of you for taking the time to review the show, and I'm pleased that everyone got enjoyment out of it.

Soon enough I'll begin to get back to terms with handing reviews back out, but I'll probably start off with PPV reviews I owe, and get those out of the way first and foremost.

This thread will be back in action hopefully towards the end of January, as I'd like to recharge my batteries a little, and also give myself a chance to return all the reviews I've been given. Hopefully Snap wont mind too much, as I'm sure he is keen to get cracking too. This will give him a chance though to get ahead in terms of shows if he wishes to do so.

At this moment in time, I think I'll have to make a decision that I'll no longer be able to write single brand PPV events in full. I'll be hunting for a new job come February, and I only just about have enough time to write one show a week, let alone a PPV every month. I will however provide detailed recaps for PPV shows, and I will be pulling my weight for joint efforts with full matches.

Now though, I'll take this opportunity to explain why I booked WM in the way I did, and although I'm not trying to say what I did in certain places was right, I'm just explaining why I felt it was the right way for me to do it.

From the top, I didnt have an awful amount of decent 'opener' candidates. Obviously the womens match would've bombed as an opener, the Roll of the Dice Match would've been a complicated opener, HHH vs Shane was a little over the top to kick things off, the 6 Man Tag was only going to be a spectacle match, and didnt have the in ring quality to suit as an opener. Then, the main event matches didnt fit as a opener either, as they either were just too big to start the show, had too much build up to be blown off in the opening match, had too much at stake to open up, or just didnt seem right. So, I was literally left with two options, that being JBL vs Matt Hardy, and the tag champs match.
I would've liked to have kicked off with the US Title Match, but with the way I wanted to book it (more on that later), I just knew that would bomb as an opening match to warm up the fans. It then left me with the tag champions match, which was the most suitable match to kick off with, as it wasnt built up for a long time, and could be quickly set to one side, and would get the fans warmed up for the remainder of the show. I'll not go into detail as to why TWGTT won, as there are many reasons, but a few I can disclose are that I knew everyone would expect AMW to win, and I like the element of surprise every now and again. Also, in the wacky world of the WWE, a WWE made act will always go over a creation from elsewhere, despite logic or popularity, so why not TWGTT over AMW twice.
However, I certainly didnt intend for Shelton Benjamin to come across as the star of the show, and didnt actually realise that was how it would be perceived until I read the reviews.

Yes, I've now punched myself in the face dozen times or so since reading that I missed out the immortal line from Mr. T. I'm really disappointed with myself on that, as even I'm big headed enough to say that I was proud of that promo, but now I'll cast it aside to be forever forgotten.

Not much to say about the booking of the womens match. I know womens wrestling doesnt appeal to the masses, but it's part of the WWE, so I have to deal with it. Dont expect to see Shaniqua again, but do expect some fresh faces soon enough.

As for JBL / Hardy, I knew the booking of the match would be criticised, but I have my reasons. Before I go into that, I do want to admit that it was a lazy piece of booking, and it's not something I do often (first time at a PPV to my recollection). Okay, booking a twelve match show is pretty difficult, especially trying to make each match different. I thought doing it this way would make the match unique to the rest of the show, and would also show the desperation of JBL to keep the belt at any cost, hence his guarantee to still be US Champion (but not a guarantee to win the match). This way, he can still sort of get away with saying his guarantee was scuppered by poor officiating, or something like that. I also wanted JBL to run out of luck, and thought that this would be a good way to do it. Again, I thought the match turned out fairly bady, but I stand by the booking of it.

I sort of already explained why the No DQ match went like it did prior to WM, so I'll skip by it. The other HHH segment where he was thrown out of the building was just to kill off any toughts of him ruining the rest of the show as he had promised to do.

I was really pleased with how the Taker - Jericho contest came out, and was perhaps my 2nd favourite of the show. Obviously Taker was going to win, but I wanted to do my best to make it seem like it might've went either way. I think I did a decent job of showing Jerichos desperation too, wanting to win the match anyway he could, even if it was by a count out.

The six man tag was what it was, and finally ended the long running Foley - Flair saga.

Not sure why there is an uproar about Mysterio losing the first fall, and winning the second. IMO, that was the beauty, and the unique quality behind the match, and it wasnt like he lost cleanly either. Also, to the person who was worried that I'd make Mysterio out to be the Eddie Guerrero tribute act. Absolutely 100% not gonna happen. It turned me off Wrestling for the most part of the year, and I'm not going to start doing it in my own thread now.

Then it was on to the Big Five Matches. Austin - Christian IMO, was a major disappointment, and for my money, would've been the biggest dud on the card. Maybe I'm being harsh, but the match definately didnt live up to the hype I'd given it. Didnt mean not to say about the type of reaction Austin got, but I didnt mean it to seem like Christian was more popular. I'm sure I wrote he got an inital pop, followed by heat.

Really expected to get massively panned for letting Angle and Hart actually have a match, let alone have Bret go over. I know in the real world Bret Hart will never and can never wrestle again, but once I put the wheels in motion for this feud, I had to go through with it. Until about two months or so ago, my intention was always for Angle to go over via submission, but then suddenly, I had a sudden change of mind, and realised that I could have an ultimate WM moment if I had Hart go over in his final match. Yes, it makes Angle look bad to lose to a 50 year old who cant actually wrestle any more, but there is a lot more creative things that can come from this loss for Angle, than the predictable win. Just watch this space for the fall out.

Another disappointment IMO was the World Title Match. I tried my best but Cena and Orton just didnt click for me like I thought it would've. It seemed better to me, but some of the reaction has been lukewarm, so it has to get a thumbs down. They definately need a gimmick to pull off a great match - although against the right opponent I think both can have great singles matches - but again, watch this space for the fallout.

Okay, HBK getting cheered over The Rock despite being a heel. Well, it's hardly the first time. Actually, nearly every time Rock faces a 'popular heel' or a 'legendary heel', or just a fresh heel, he, for some reason, always gets booed. Hogan and Lesnar immediately pop into mind, and I'm certain there are many others.

Not much to say about the main event, apart from the fact that it gave me great pleasure to crown Chris Benoit world champion.

Hopefully that explains anything that was bugging anyone. Please be patient with me as I try to get back on track in BTB over the next few weeks. I've a lot of catching up to do.

Its all good Wolfy. I think I see what was behind the Hardy vs JBL stuff, I was hoping for them to have a regular match, but it was entertaining a bit. Your really harsh on yourself it seems, but I didn't see Christian vs Austin bomb that greatly, though it wasn't as great of an ending or a match as it could of and should of, still a good match. The fall out of WrestleMania, should be great to say the least, and I really think your going to make it great. Thanks for clearing all thoughts up, though I would of rather seen Angle win over Hart, the ultimate moment is a nice touch and a good idea, but if they shook hands after and hugged possibly after Hart tapped, it would of been a great moment in itself.

Wolfy’s WrestleMania 22 Review from Kid O Mac:

First off good opening promo and it sets the tone for what seems to be one great night.

WWE Tag Team Champions
vs. World Tag Team Champions:

America’s Most Wanted vs. The Worlds Greatest Tag Team

After reading what you just wrote, I totally understand why you put this match on first. To me though, it felt like some things were lacking in this match, as I thought their encounter from last year was much better. Probably due to the buildup that last year featured. ***/5

I read the Booker T/Goldust segment a couple of days ago, and that was one of the most funniest promos I’ve read from you, in recent memory. I can actually envision these two doing this in real life.

Women’s Championship-Trish(c) v. Shanquia

Wasn’t really expecting a wrestling classic, and I really didn’t think Trish would lose here and fortunately I was correct. You claim that this is the last time we’ll see the Amazon Beast for a while, well let’s see where you take this division next. **3/4 out 5

United States Championship:
JBL(c) v. Matt Hardy

Before I get to the match, that was an excellent promo from JBL. Great work. As for the match, I like how you made this match seem different from the rest. I had a feeling that Hardy would get the win, but I’m glad at how you showed JBL doing whatever he could to get the win, but running out of luck in the end. ***1/4 out of 5

NO DQ-Triple H v. Shane McMahon

This was insanely everything that I expected. Well maybe not the insane bump from Shane from Triple H. But everything else was done to a T. Not surprised that Hunter gets the W and so far this is the MOTN. ****/5

Liked how you used Heyman as a way of showing the power and unexpectedness that Brock has, that Heyman himself doesn’t even want to be by him at the moment. Nice way to hype up the Main Event. Won’t comment on the segment with Hunter as we know he wouldn’t be in the main event in anyway.

Interpromotional Match: Chris Jericho vs. The Undertaker

Looking back at it, I’ve realized that having Austin beat Taker in my Mania in my thread, was a bad idea, as no one else has decided to have Taker take a L at Mania. With that said, I didn’t expect for Jericho to win here and he didn’t but he gave one hell of a fight. ***.5/5

Six Man Tag Match:

Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley & Rhyno vs. Ric Flair, Batista & Nick Dinsmore

Not much more to say about this match, as you said yourself that this match was done more or less as a special attraction, and a way to finally end the war between Flair and Foley. Well that I will say you have done and done well I might add. Foley and his team pick up the win, but I wonder what happens to Dinsmore? ***/5

I like how you added in all of the WM Promo Videos, as I get to re-read these classic videos from you man.

Intercontinental Championship; Money in the Bank Match
Roll of the Dice Match; Ladder Match
4: QUINTET SUDDEN DEATH -

Carlito vs. Edge vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Mr. Kennedy

Both matches were well written and served their purpose. Really it was good to see the IC title being defended at Mania, even though the champion, Carlito retained. That was good, but the ladder match to me was way better. Mysterio winning was good, and I’m glad you’re not using the Eddie Guerrero storyline with Mysterio. As I agree, as much of a fan I was and am of Guerrero and Mysterio, that really disgusted me with the way they dragged that storyline out over the past year. Total Rating for the two matches: ****/5

Nice HoF tidbit.

Christian v. Stone Cold Steve Austin

With the past couple of months of how you had Christian being positioned as the new star in the business, there was no way that I knew you would have him take a L here tonight. And you didn’t. While this match wasn’t a classic by any means, the “torch” has been passed in this match, as Austin losses and Christian gains as JR said “the biggest win in his career to date!” ***.75/5

WrestleMania 23 coming to the Superdome! Nice!

Match of the Millennium:

Kurt Angle vs. Bret Hart

After reading what you just wrote, I totally understand why you had Hart go over in this match. I’ll say this, when I brought Hart back in my thread, I knew all along in my heart that I never was going to have Hart beat Michaels at Mania for the title. For one, I knew it wouldn’t be right. But I wanted to do Angle v. Hart, which is the reason why I put that match in full on SNME, and there since I knew Hart was losing at Mania, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt by winning at SNME. But back to the match here. This was probably one of the top five matches that I’ve ever read from you. *****/5

Was kind of surprised to see Piper’s Pit so late, and to me honestly it could’ve been much better than what it was. The ending was kind of expected, but hey the Monster Kane is back!

World Heavyweight Championship Match:

John Cena vs. Randy Orton II

I said it to myself after I first read this match, and I’ll say it again as I write it here! The ending sucked bro! I know you tried, but this match to me came off horribly. To me, there’s two things that should never happen in a Heavyweight Championship Match at Mania. That is the match end with a schoolboy or some small package/fast count, or end in DQ. That totally tarnishes it for me. ***-And that’s being nice, as originally I graded it at 2.75

Icon vs. Icon:

Shawn Michaels
vs. The Rock

This was great and I can’t believe how you were able to combine all of the elements from these two personally and put it into this feud and make it work so well. Rock, who is probably one of the few wrestlers that I actually have cheered for as a good guy, as I am more biased towards heel, pulls out the Win, with a…Rock Bottom from off of the top rope! What an ending to a brilliant WM match. ****.25/5

WWE Championship Match:

WWE Champion,
Brock Lesnar vs. 2006 Royal Rumble Winner, Chris Benoit

One word that describes this match is PERFECTION! I know Benoit is you’re boy, so I knew that this match would be big. Though I really originally wanted it to be Jericho vs. Benoit for the belt at Mania, this will do. This exceed anything that I had thought would happen. From the beginning of the match to the end of the show, it was all brilliantly done. Excellent recap video. Benoit is the NEW WWE Champion and what a way to end this show as Tazz said it right, when he said “No Overhyping, Just Let the Show Do the Talking Itself!” *****/5

Overall Score: 175/200=87.5=B+

Thank you Wolfy, for this Wrestling Classic!

Damn Wolfy. If I was to read your self evaluation, I would swear this was a shitty PPV. Self deprecation...das not cool. Can't wait for you to get to reviewing :side: :p pick this thread back up. Hope you and Snap get off to a good start.

Wrestlemania review:

Opening video package: Very well written and set the tone for the show well.

AMW vs. WGTT: Wasn’t surprised to see this start off the show. It started off ok, with some basic action. However it lasted a long time before I got the feeling it was going anywhere. Things picked up near the end, I loved the two counters of the death sentence by Benjamin. Overall I thought this was a decent match, with some interesting little parts of storytelling. (Such as Harris getting isolated for a bit, then the same thing happens to Haas same after… also I liked how the respect between the two teams slowly deteriorated throughout the match). Some parts did lose my interest though and i would have liked to have seen some more near falls.

Goldust, Booker T, Mr T promo: lol this was great. I’m glad that Booker at least got a little airtime on this show. Very entertaining promo, everyone was in character and I thought the concept was gold.

Shaniqua vs. Trish: I thought you played out the underdog story pretty well with Trish. The match kept me interested pretty much all the time, which was good. I was surprised by the botched Stratusfaction, mainly because I was surprised you willingly included a botch. I’m guessing you used it so that there would be a credible excuse for Shaniqua kicking out of it, it added to the realism anyway. There were a lot of pretty good counters throughout the match, but my obvious favourite was the Stratusfaction countered into a power bomb. The ending was a little disappointing after that, but still overall it was a pretty decent match.

Wrestlemania promos: damn, the DX one came in last… I thought that was the best one by far.

JBL interview: Another awesome promo. JBL was written very well, his confidence and wit was there. (“I have no answer for why my hair stays in place in the ring”. I loved that line in particular lol).

Hardy vs. JBL: I thought this was another good match. JBL trying to get himself counted out and disqualified was very in character (I thought the match was really over after the count out). Both men hit all their signature moves I believe, and it flowed very well without getting uninteresting. I was expecting JBL to hit the clothesline from hell, so I was surprised when Hardy ducked and Noble received the move. I thought the ending in general was good, It highlighted Hardy beating all of the odds. Hmmm Noble getting left behind was interesting, could this be setting up his split from the cabinet?

Triple H vs. Shane McMahon: Well this was definitely the most exciting match so far. I thought the story of HHH wanting to punish Shane, not just beat him was done pretty well. One spot I didn’t like was Shane being whipped across all 3 announce tables, I can’t visualise it without it looking so exaggerated lol. Steve O appearing was very unexpected… I guess it just goes to show anything can happen at Wrestlemania… I liked that Shane hit his diving elbow drop and the coast to coast. But HHH kicks out of both, which of course leads up to the titantron bump, (I was sort of surprised you had one in this match, and where did Hunter get the sledgehammer from,,, did he put it there earlier and then “escape“ up their deliberately?, was the whole thing a set up?… If so then he really is the Cerebral Assassin).

Heyman interview: I thought this was yet another good promo, though some parts seemed a bit out of character to me (“Not because I’m mean or nasty”). But it got the point across and hyped the main event pretty well.

Triple H promo: I thought the commentary before this was interesting, perhaps Tazz and Coach will end up brawling by the end of the night (I find it funny that no matter how many times Shane falls off the stage the commentators act like it’s the first time it has ever happened lol). I liked how you gave Triple H a credible reason here for not fulfilling his promise (ruining Wrestlemania), perhaps a HHH vs. Steamboat fued is in the works?

Chris Jericho vs. The Undertaker: I was shocked by how many cheap moves you managed to think up for Y2J to lose. Again this match had a good story to it, with Jericho resorting to every cheap move in the book in attempt to beat the phenom. Wasn’t sure if i liked the handcuff spot… It was pretty stupid that the ref didn’t see it… but wrestling referees are pretty damn ignorant at times, plus it did add to the story. One thing I’m sure I didn’t like though was Jericho not selling the exposed turnbuckle. Those are just nit pickings though… One main thing I didn’t like was that despite all the near falls and finshers, there wasn't a moment when i thought Taker's undefeated streak was in danger. I especially think the walls of Jericho spot could have been made more dramatic (maybe even with Chris reapplying the hold several times afterwards)… But besides from that, I thought the match had a good story, flowed very well and never got boring. It’s actually my favourite match so far.

Hulk Hogan interview: This was pretty good, although at times I thought Hogan was a bit more arrogant then normal. Besides from that though it was a pretty realistic promo in my opinion.

6 man tag match: I didn’t like how Flair was so eager to face Foley and Hogan, that seemed a bit too face-like. Also When Foley drove his knee into the steps, it felt like you missed an opportunity for Flair to work on his legs a bit and attempt a figure four. However aside from those minor things I enjoyed this match quite a lot. The constant momentum changes made it pretty exciting, and i loved how you mixed all the differant styles of the competitors. The ending was pretty chaotic and fun to read. (Although it was a bit confusing at times, because I think you typed the wrong names in places).

Wrestlmania promo: Wrestlemaina Hotel came in second… I found that surprising, I was expecting it to win

DX promo: Pretty interesting segment. HBK enforcing that he wants to face Rock alone hyped up the match pretty well. And the little conversation between the other DX members afterwards was very interesting. Could this be the start of a possible split?

Roll of the dice match: I thought the first fall was decent. Edge not wanting to get involved was a good story and was in character. I also liked the ending, with Carlito making the blind tag, but the other competitors not noticing. The only thing I didn’t like about this was I thought RVD’s style wasn’t portrayed that well, he used too many power moves for my liking.
The ladder match was very spotty but entertaining. The large majority of it was basically each men incorporating a ladder into their finishers (which to be honest is how I would have written it aswell). I particularly liked the spear, 619 counter… Sabu returning with al fonzo was shocking, didn’t see that coming at all and I look forward to seeing where this leads too. I was surprised that it was Carlito that took the spear spot (actually looking back, it was a bit weird that Edge took himself out of the match with that). Mysterio winning was also very surprising. Very good match (the ladder match was pretty spotty… but personally I didn’t mind that). Oh glad to see that you acknowledged that Edge did all the work, could lead to an interesting feud between him and Rey.

Christian interview: I thought this was probably the best interview so far. Christian seemed to be in character and it hyped up the next match pretty well. I couldn’t really find anything I didn’t like about this.

Austin vs. Christian: I liked the start of the match. It seemed pretty realistic with Christian running from Austin and Tomko constantly trying to interfere (I was glad he was eventually sent backstage). One thing I did notice was that Christian didn’t sell enough at some points imo. Such as the 10 atomic drops (I thought the spot itself was a good idea). Christian using J.R’s sweet jar was unexpected, but I thought was a pretty good idea. I loved the little touches you added during this time, such as Christian eating the sweets and Austin giving the ref the finger after he keeps his arm up in the sleeper… I was really liking this match, however I thought the ending really let it down. I felt it was pretty anti-climatic, especially since Austin kicked out of the frog splash, only for it not to lead to anything. Having more near-falls before it would have helped, (also a stunner countered into the unprettier may have worked better or Christian needing to hit 3 in a row to beat Austin).

Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle: This was the match I most looked forward to reading… and it didn’t disappoint. The only thing I disliked about it was that I thought the belly to belly suplexes and Angle whipping Hart into the steel steps, should have been made more dramatic (I would have thought there were more likely to effect Hart’s physical condition then the clotheslines). Besides from that though, I loved everything else about this match. The pace was great and the styles seemed pretty realistic. I liked the references to Hart’s past with the victory roll and ring apron spots from his KOTR win. I also loved the ‘Lets see your foot save your ass once I break it in two’ line from Angle, that was pretty clever in my opinion. And I thought the ending was great, grapevine countered into a sharpshooter… just genius . Hmm maybe Kurt have been in the hold a bit longer before tapping out, but overall a great match, probably the best so far.

Piper’s pit: Surprised that the Christian advert won, I didn’t like that one personally. Anyway I thought the Piper’s pit segment was great. At first I wasn’t too sure about it as I thought Piper got cut off too early. But the promo ended up being a suitable length anyway. I thought Maven leading a jobber army against Kane was a good move for several reasons… 1: It gives them all a chance to be on Wrestlemania… 2: Kane destroying them all made him look really strong… and 3: I doubt anyone paid to see Kane talk lol. I was surprised to see that you put the mask back on Kane, but I thought it was a pretty cool touch. And including the Pete Rose gag was just great… Overall I’d see this was the best promo so far (or at the least it ties with the Booker, Goldust, Mr T one).

John Cena vs. Randy Orton: I felt this was one of the most realistic matches so far. It was also a very entertaining one. Although I would have liked to have seen a longer assault from Orton in the middle of the contest. Also I was surprised to see Orton become the heel so quickly, but that isn’t a criticism. I did think the finishing sequence was well thought out, and it had me on the edge of my seat for the most part (especially after the belt spot) and the sudden finish worked well in my opinion.

HBK vs. The Rock: In general… I loved this match. Even the little things such as both men using each other’s taunts and Rock slamming Michaels head against each of the 3 announce tables was entertaining. The constant momentum changes throughout this match worked brilliantly and the ending sequence was again done very well. The Rock Bottom of the top rope was a bit unrealistic… but the awesomeness of it made up for that. My only little criticism is that I think things were overused a bit (such as the Rock using HBK’s own heel tactics against him… HBK using 2 atomic drops… HBK skinning the cat twice… HBK stomping different body parts of the Rock etc). Oh and I didn’t like Rocky using a back suplex to set up the second people’s elbow. I felt it should have been a scoop slam… So considering those are the only things wrong with it, I’d say you did pretty well with this… MOTN in my opinion.

Chris Benoit vs. Brock Lesnar: This was my second favourite match of the show. The only thing that stopped it being the first was that it didn’t have a long enough “feeling out process” for my liking. Especially considering this was meant to be the traditionalist wrestling match. Other then that though I thought this was perfect. I have absolutely no other complaints. It was realistic, both men hit all of their moves (loved seeing Lesnar use his old combos). Plus the near falls and finisher attempts had me hooked. The F5 into a crossface was a great way to end it (and I loved how Brock kept countering it into a pin, that just added loads to the excitement).

Overall: Did I love this show?… Yes… Is it the best I’ve ever read?… Yes, but I havn’t really read many big BTB events yet, so that isn’t really much of a compliment… Was it perfect?… No and that would have been a really unfair expectation. This was an extremely entertaining shows, with some great moments and no major problems. I thought the booking behind it was great (I even didn’t mind Mysterio winning the ladder match after losing the first fall ;) ). Overall I’d say this lived up to the hype, which is a very impressive achievement.

Having you respond back to all the reviews really takes a lot of what I am going to write, but I will start my Wrestlemania review for you tomorrow. I should hopefully have it done in a few days, but I do not have the greatest computer access at the moment. I have read some matches, and they have been a pleasure.

You know you are going to have one person jumping all over Orton vs. Cena. :)

It has been twenty three months since your last Wrestlemania, so this is exciting to read.

I do not know how much constructive criticism I can give you since you seem to have given yourself a vituperative review, but I will try. It will mostly be over adulation, but everyone can use compliments.

I was not too fond of the song. It sort of fit, but it really did not have the WWE theme song style.

Length: 10/10. :)

Spelling and Grammar: Well, you completely disregarded the apostrophe, but I am assuming that is how you write in Ireland. I counted two spelling mistakes, and grammatical mistakes are not really of my concern in Wrestlemania. You taught me some words too! 10/10

You usually write excellent opening videos, but you have even topped that. This had three parts to it, and it was well done. The classic moments were in there, and current superstars gave their favorite moments or plans for tonight. I could never imagine Chris Benoit talking in third person though. 10/10

WWE Tag Team Champions
vs. World Tag Team Champions:
America’s Most Wanted vs. The Worlds Greatest Tag Team

This should be a good opening with all the talent involved. AMW dominate both Haas and Benjamin, which they are probably not accustomed to since it is a face vs. face match. Here comes the resurgence of Benjamin and Haas. Just want to mention that you wrote Edge instead of Harris. I love the pinning combination sequence because it is something that fast moving teams do. Now we see Benjamin evince his unparallel athleticism, and I love it! I thought it was over after that leaping guillotine, but I am not complaining with more. I have no idea what the death sentence is, but Benjamin sitting up during it seems like an incredible move. Great win for The World’s Greatest Tag Team with Benjamin doing most of the offense. They have defeated everyone now, so unless you have a new team being imported or formed, they are going to be in a slow tag team division.
The last half of this match was awesome indubitably, but the first half was way too basic. Nothing good at all in terms of moves, and I thought you would take advantage of the first match by having it start off with some exciting moves. It does not make a world of a difference, but it seemed more like a regular show tag team match in the early part. 8/10

Booker T and Goldust is hilarious enough. I really did not see the humor in this, but it is always good to see Mr. T at Wrestlemania.

Women’s Championship Match:
Trish Stratus vs. Shaniqua

Second match of the night is the ideal spot for a women’s match. This is basically Shaniqua showing her manly strength, and Trish showing her tenacity and agility. Jackhammer into Stratusfaction is a creative counter and one that I see working, so I do not know why Trish botched it. If Trish survives the powerbomb, then she has to win the match. Stratusphere and Chick Kick is the quintessential Trish Stratus win, but she wins over the dominant woman, so now Trish is the dominant champion. From what I gather from your news reports, Shaniqua is out of here. You have to establish the remaining part of the women’s division because your focus has been on Shaniqua and Trish for a long time. 6.5/10

Glad to see this preview making number three as I laughed uncontrollably when I first read it.

JBL must take the microphone earlier than The Rock does. Pfft, I have no answer for why my hair stays in place! Won a contract from a cereal box! Good stuff from JBL, especially the ending line. I was wondering when he would actually talk about his competition.

United States Championship;
John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield vs. Matt Hardy

Banning the Cabinet may be an indication that Hardy is going to win. There has been a Russian leg sweep in all three matches so far. JBL is smart leaving the ring and allowing for a countout and retention. He also took advantage of the DQ with a basic low blow.
Now I understand why you always want to be at the same period of time as it is currently. I thought I was a genius when I thought of countout and DQ from the champion, only for restarting the match. Then the WWE did it twice in the same week, so now your idea looks like it was copied when it really was not. Now it is just crap, thank you WWE.
I do not know if the referee would make the decision instead of Steamboat, but it is Wrestlemania. I do not know if Hardy could slam JBL, but his comeback was in order other than that. The Cabinet initially saves JBL, but they end up self destructing, and Matt Hardy is the US Champion! I did not think you liked Hardy enough to give him the title, but whatever. Sort of like when JBL lost the title to Cena at Wrestlemania 21 with the title reign spanning almost the same amount of time. Should be interesting on Smackdown with all these face champions, which all of them are from Cruiserweight to WWE. 6/10

HHH is pissed off …

Orton seems to be deep in thought for this match, which is good. I like that you gave him this instead of an interview because a concentrated Orton does not fare well in interviews.

No Disqualifications:
Triple H vs. Shane McMahon

NODQ is needed here for Shane O Mac to make this his match. I hope you use King of Kings more than twice here instead of just discarding it. Triple H shows his anger early on, but I am sure Shane will gain control soon. The brawlfest in the crowd is nice, but it these two guys did not get that personal with each other on Smackdown. Those should be saved for those intense rivalries where the build up is more. Ha, Steve – O is on Shane – 0’s side. The best part about this match is neither person has attempted a cover, showing how much damage they want to inflict on each other. Shane is beaten to death, but he uses the sledgehammer on HHH! Great spot! Had to know the elbow drop through the announce table spot was coming! Van Terminator does not get the win either! I find it kind of hard to believe that two bloodied men could climb a fifty foot structure. SHANE FALLS FIFTY FEET!!!! Shane is dead! Triple H has to take Shane off the stretcher to get the win of course, and he has to do it with the pedigree. Only three pinfalls, but it works as the idea was to kill the other man. 8/10

Lesnar is on his path of destruction, good to see. Benoit is going to get the win, no matter what.

Coach vs. Tazz …….. good joke! Makes Coach look like a complete dickhead though.

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, hey, hey, hey, GOODBYE! HHH is gone! Hooray!

Inter Promotional Match:
Chris Jericho
vs. The Undertaker

This match is quite early on the card, but it just goes to show how strong your card is when you have Undertaker facing a more than credible opponent not even halfway through the card. I like the quick cheating and winning attempt from Jericho as it gets over not only his heelness, but his experience. I love that springboard dropkick. Now it is to classic Undertaker, catching Jericho in mid air and turning the match to his advantage. Jericho going for all of these surprise covers and sneaky covers once again gets over the fact he is a heel, and he is a veteran who wants to beat Undertaker anyway. Handcuffs always seem to show up in Undertaker matches against the Undertaker. I remember Randy Orton used them against Taker at the 2005 Royal Rumble in Hell in a Cell. Nice, Jericho was going for the countout win with the cuffs, but Undertaker breaks free!!! Many people have kicked out of the chokeslam, so I am not surprised at all, Undertaker usually never wins with the chokeslam. I almost thought Taker did not do the Last Ride because he is not strong enough too anymore. Brass knuckles are another great spot from Jericho , pulling out all the stops. It would have been better for me if Jericho had taken the turnbuckle padding and thrown that across the ring, and then have used the brass knuckles again. Breakdown and lionsault are still not enough. I am just waiting for Undertaker to sit up. Both men eat the turnbuckle, but for the first time, Walls of Jericho , baby!!! Speaking of that, I am glad Jericho did not use any of his cocky covers because that would ruin everything you set up with him being all desperate to get this win. Undertaker can kick out of anything, but nobody can kick out of the Tombstone Piledriver! J Undertaker is 14 – 0, and he does it against a credible opponent.
I am very curious as to where both wrestlers do after this match. If Jericho stays heel, I can imagine him defeating Undertaker at Judgment Day to propel himself to the World Title picture. Is Undertaker part time or full time in this thread? Jericho says it is not over, so my prediction is probably right. Anyways, this match was exhilarating with all those pin attempts, even though I had an inkling Undertaker was going to win. Jericho pulled out all the stops. Undertaker did not sit up, but tis okay. One of the more memorable matches of yours I have read. 9.5/10

Oh yea, Hulk Hogan!! Hold on while I cheer for ten minutes. I like that you used Okurland, really adds to the nostalgic feeling that this match somewhat has.

Six Man Tag Match:
Hulk Hogan, Mick Foley & Rhyno vs. Ric Flair, Batista & Nick Dinsmore

Well, you went almost two years without using Hogan, so it has to be time to bust him out again. I am all for nostalgia, I am very nostalgic when it comes to sports, I choose veterans over rookies, but I VEHEMENTLY ABHOR USING HOGAN in any sense. I am sure you understand my sentiments, and this match is making me sick. If it was Foley or Flair in Hogan’s place, I would be happy because they know how to wrestle. Hogan takes a step forward and everyone goes bananas. If Evolution wins this match, it will be the most shocking victory ever. Rhyno vs. Flair and Foley vs. Dinsmore have been surprisingly good. Yes, Flair low blows Hogan, and of course, Hogan is somehow better than Flair. My favorite Hogan moment has to be at Survivor Series 1991 when Undertaker tombstoned Hogan in the center of the ring, and Hogan stood up! Ironically, that match was won by Flair’s interference, hmmm. Sorry if this is a rant of sorts, Hogan is intolerable in 2006. If you are calling Dinsmore the prodigy, I am assuming that Evolution is back in force. Who is OJ? Ah yes, the famed hulk up, which I actually enjoy … when done by Eugene . Has Batista even been in this match officially? Jackhammer and Batista Bomb are good enough for me with Batista. Alright, mandible claws for everyone!!!! Gore, sweet shin music, and the leg drop win the match. Why did Hogan have to win the match?
I know that I basically disregarded the match because of the huge involvement of Hogan, but it is just who he is, even today. Batista really did not have a part as you were hyping up Dinsmore as a future player. It really kills all of Evolution’s momentum. Foley and Flair were the stars of this match, and I am surprised they did not get much time in the ring together as their feud emanates a long time back as well. After all they went through at Nemesis and Survivor Series, I figured they would tango, but no loss. Hogan better be on his way out after this. This was not for the GM position though, so I assume it is still going to be the duel general managers, something that cannot last. I forsee Hogan vs. Flair for the GM position. 6/10

Wrestlemania Hotel was awesome! Definitely a strong promo, but in no way topping Christian in Las Vegas . Nothing short of awesome with everyone in character. F – 5 on the bed!

Shawn Michaels going alone can have two implications. He is so egotistical that he would prefer to beat The Rock without the assistance of DX, or the dissension in DX is rising as it has been since Armageddon, leading HBK to a face turn.

Intercontinental Championship;
Roll of the Dice Match:
4: QUINTET SUDDEN DEATH -
Carlito vs. Edge vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Mr. Kennedy

This seems kind of weird to me, but how can you have a five man last man standing match? That would be impossible for the referee to keep track of. What if the little kid rolled that? I am surprised you let a child roll the dice spontaneously, usually everything is premeditated meticulously.
I have a feeling these blind tags are going to happen all night, with the eventual winner taking advantage of one. I thought Edge was going to just act heelish for a few minutes, but now I like what is happening. Edge is above the IC title, with his hopes set for the Money in the Bank, so he only wrestles one match. Mr. Kennedy is acting like a heel, even though he seems to be a tweener. I hope he just mocks everybody, the Mr. Kennedy thumb chant was hilarious. Rey and RVD have had the best wrestling, but of course, their feud goes back to September, and they are probably the two well versed in this match. Edge is still fine, but he will not be ready to start the match as Carlito wins. I thought you were going to use this match as a legitimately strong way for Carlito to drop the title. This match had some slow spots, but it was kept fast paced for most of the time. 8/10

2: LADDER MATCH

I love ladder matches, and from what I have seen from your ladder matches, this is going to be an awesome spotfest. Kind of weird the position Carlito did the springboard elbow from, but along with the moonsault, it seems like you are expanding Carlito’s boundaries to actually wrestle. Edge is definitely viable to win this match as he has won ladder matches at Wrestlemania before, though he did lose last year. He did not wrestle in the first match either. Failed seated senton is nice, but a buzzkiller off the ladder is great! I am sure there are more moves to come off the ladder. Even better is the Green Bay Plunge off the ladder!!!! Another finisher off the ladder!!! I would not think Kennedy would be the person to forego winning the match to jump off the ladder, even if it is not in the center. I think that would be more of a Rey or RVD move. The unsuspecting MVP of this match is definitely Carlito, showing off his versatility and athleticism in this match. RVD kicking everyone with the ladder is definitely RVD – esque with the Van Daminator, but if he did the Van Terminator, that would be sick. RVD turning on Alfonso turns on him now!!! Yes, Sabu!!!!! Sabu!!! Seems like Alfonso and Sabu have taken RVD out of the match. This should definitely be an interesting feud with a good gimmick match or two, but what makes it even better is that Sabu is the heel. Kennedy is thrown out of the match, literally. I love the mid air spear, it has to be one of my favorite moves ever. Leaves it wide open for Rey to win! I really am against this because Rey was pinned in the first match, so it makes that match negligible. Then, Rey really is not a World Heavyweight Champion in my standard, Intercontinental at most. At least he is not winning this off his dead friend. I do not think that Rey is going to lose, and if he does, he is still going to remain in that division, so it looks permanent. That does not take away the fact that this was an insane spotfest. 9/10

Nice Hall of Fame ceremony, keeping it short and simple.

My guess is that Christian is going to be the first heel champion of the year, judging by his interview. Feud of the past and present according to Christian.

Inter Promotional Match:
Christian
vs. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin

I am not surprised Christian would receive a major pop, he is a heel that needs to be cheered for. Only thing is that he was booed during his interview, and he said nothing to get a change of heart.
The running around the ring deal has been used tonight already, but it suits the heel Christian. I remember this set of ten atomic drops from Summerslam! Tomko looks like crap in this match, being swatted like a fly by Austin each time. Tomko is stunned, but he saves Christian from the stunner. He has been involved in this match four times already, showing how critical he is to Christian’s success. Tomko is finally ejected, but still is able to help Christian bloody Austin! I do not know what a glass jar is doing at the announce table, and I wonder why the referee did not call for a disqualification when he saw Stone Cold bleeding. Tomko had a 40% efficiency rating. Time to start the Austin is resilient part. Of course, Austin survives the sleeper hold, and this was the match to use it in with Austin. Austin comes back, but the second stunner is not good enough either. Good to see Christian survive that because it just does not seem like a Wrestlemania match should end like that. Adding another move to Christian’s arsenal is never a bad thing. Reverse DDT, frogsplash, and unprettier are certainly enough for the win. Shows how legit the unprettier is as Austin was pinned on that while Christian survived two stunners. This was a great match with its flaws, but it did its main purpose, propel Christian once again as the superstar of today by pinning yet another superstar of yesterday. One of the few heels who will win tonight, which is one of my favorite parts of Wrestlemania, faces win. 8.5/10

It makes sense for Wrestlemania 23 to be in New Orleans with all the damage that it has suffered.

Not exactly the kind of song that is played at Wrestlemania and a big contrast from last year’s performance of Eminem, but good nonetheless.

Match of the Millennium:
Kurt Angle vs. Bret Hart

I am going to review this match as if Hart was able to physically compete, his only limitations emanating from his age. This was definitely the most built up match, going back all the way to Judgment Day.
I expect Angle to dominate the match with Hart not really having the feel of wrestling anymore. Even though Hart is the bigger man, Angle has wrestled the past six years, so I expected nothing less then Angle shoving Hart down to the ground. Bret shows his great technical wrestling skills, which is what I hope this match is. I really like how Angle is infuriated while Hart is just … well happy to be there. Angle is probably receiving the most heat ever in the history of the WWE. Angle hits a belly – to – belly suplex, which makes me wonder why he has not hit that many. I thought he would go bananas with suplexes. Good to see him at least attempt the moonsault as he usually does in big match situations. It should give Hart some offense. Yes, figure four around the ring post!! I do not understand what it means when Angle hits Hart for six. It has happened twice so far. One of the best part of your matches is the sly humor you place in there, which I try to emulate. “Cole mistakenly calls a side suplex an Angle Slam.” That is so true, he does and would. I remember he called a hangman an RKO. :)
Angle slam into Russian leg sweep is plausible, but I cannot see a bulldog from a German suplex. Angle almost catches Hart, but Hart escapes twice. Angle is quite the animated character in this match. Angle slam usually leads to ankle lock, and here it is. What an amazing counter! Hart makes Angle tap in what is probably a top Wrestlemania moment! Hart makes yet another Wrestlemania moment.
This is one of the best wins in Hart’s illustrious career. I hope he returns to the general manager position on Smackdown, but it may not be smart to have Angle and Hart on the same show because Angle will be demanding a rematch. Once again, the match results dictates the outcome for the future. If Angle had won, he would be the biggest heel on Smackdown. Since he has lost, he can go both ways. This was not the best match by far, due to the many limitations put on Hart, which disallowed Angle from doing most of what he usually does. However, atmosphere has a major role in matches like these. 9/10

Best promo of all time, I voted it promo of the month twice in a row.

Cena is doing the same as Orton.

I do not really like Piper putting Cena over, but whatever. Piper’s pit in general is a nice touch for Wrestlemania. All the build up on Smackdown leads to Maven’s intercession in what will be the biggest role of his career. Fifteen people to take on Kane? After eleven months, Kane is back … old school!!! He destroys the whole army!!!! Pfft, Pete Rose? Kane is definitely in line for a nice push with this act.

World Heavyweight Championship Match:
John Cena vs. Randy Orton II

Early on, it seems like Orton is going to be the acting heel of the match. I am somewhat of a Cena mark too, so this should be an excellent match. I do not think Orton would have enough time to climb to the top rope and crossbody Cena after a pin attempt on a dropkick. At least you remember that Orton has a crossbody in his arsenal. Ah, Orton’s classic inverted neck and backbreaker! RKO to F-U to RKO is exciting, but not meritorious of getting the win this early in the match. I hope Orton outlasts the F-U for this. Your five moves of doom are very different from Cena’s, actually, you are not even doing them, which I like. It takes away from the predictability of the match. He used the throwback earlier, he covered after the freestyle and five knuckle shuffle, and he did not hit the F-U. He has Orton in the STF-U though. Orton making the ropes is good, and Cena better not win this match, especially by submission because the last match ended in that fashion. This is not the match I expected the referee to go down in, but Orton survives the F – U because of it. Orton gets it hit Cena with the title belt, probably showing that he is now a full fledged heel, but it still does not work! What? Match is over already? It was so fast paced and full of action!
Not even speaking as a blind Orton mark, but this was the worst thing you could have done to Orton. You spent the whole year building him up for this one event. He feuded with Evolution, breaking away from them to become face, he defeated Ric Flair in a steel cage, he won the match for his team at Clash of the Champions, he came in second in the World Title match at Nemesis, he lasted inside the War Games match for seventy five minutes, he gained revenge for losing at Survivor Series at Armageddon, wins a minor feud with Edge, and after all that, he loses. I know you tried to allay the loss with a schoolboy, but Orton had one of the best non title years ever. John Cena was champion till Summerslam, won at back at Armageddon, and has had it ever since. He did nothing the whole year, but battle for the title.
The match was excellently written nonetheless, but the result is shocking, and I do not think you gave them enough time. They would have benefited with a few more minutes. 9/10

Icon vs. Icon:
Shawn Michaels
vs. The Rock

Good thing this match is between the title matches. Definitely should shut HBK up about his match not being high profile. I like the stealing of taunts, make the match start on a high note. Outside action is great, but I have never seen The Rock attempt a belly – to – belly suplex. Amazing move by HBK, skinning the cat and taking Rocky over the top rope. HBK is definitely bringing it for Wrestlemania. I am surprised that you are having the fans cheer for HBK more than The Rock. Not too fond of the referee being knocked out in two straight matches. Not fond of the referee being knocked out twice in the same night, though there is nothing like a referee taking a sweet chin music! HBK nipping up before the people’s elbow is a great spot. Low blow t the Rock, along with a chair shot and Rock Bottom from HBK to the Rock on the announce table! Another amazing spot worth noting! HBK’s offense is good enough to get the fans back in Rocky’s corner. The referee is out for a second time? You should have saved the referee bumps for this match and not have used it in the previous match. Rock is down, but HBK has nothing to do. This has been a match of HBK doing something, and the Rock doing it back like the slaps and lowblows. HBK with a moonsault!!! Only at Wrestlemania! I knew the double man nip up was going to happen in this match. Whoa! Way too much action, people’s elbow, almost sweet chin music, almost a Rock Bottom, and a resounding sweet chin music! That was like the Austin and HBK encounter at Wrestlemania, except HBK got the better of it, but Rocky still survives! Now HBK survives the Rock Bottom! This match is nothing short of awesome with all the counters, spectacular moments, and finishers. Ah, the whole point of the Rock ascending the ropes is to deliver a Rock Bottom from the top rope!!! Only way this match could end!!! WOW!!! Brilliant ending to a brilliant match! Cole and Tazz have called all the interpromotional matches for some reason. Forget them, this match was scintillating to say the least. Who says The Rock cannot wrestle? Easily, easily, easily, match of the night for me so far, and I just cannot exalt you enough for this, even with the superfluous referee bumps, which just happened to add the exhilaration of the match. 10/10

Yup, HBK is definitely turning face.

Extended video package is a nice touch, especially with the fitting choices of music.

WWE Championship Match:
WWE Champion,
Brock Lesnar vs. 2006 Royal Rumble Winner, Chris Benoit

And just like that, the match starts! It would be the biggest shock in BTB history if Benoit lost this, but this is still going to be an awesome run to the finish. Like the early futile finisher attempt. Benoit’s suicide dives never work, and he always ends up crashing like that. The way this looks, it is going to be a suplex fest, and I like those. Backbreakers and ribbreakers are classic power heel moves. On his fourth attempt, Lesnar finally nails a suplex, evincing how difficult it is to wrestle Benoit. I love the classic German suplex switches. I saw it in Benoit vs. Angle at the 2003 Royal Rumble, and I immediately incorporated it into one of my matches. I have never seen Lesnar do the double powerbomb, but it certainly works. Lesnar being able to lose the belt on a DQ makes this match that much better. It makes Benoit look a little weaker though now that Heyman and all cheap ways for Lesnar to win are removed, though it is the main event of Wrestlemania. Marvelous counter to the major three amigos, with a superplex! You should trademark these modifications. For the second time, Benoit crashes and burns!! I was hoping he would hit the swandive. No matter how powerful the F – 5 may be, plenty of people have kicked out of it on multiple occasions, is it is very feasible for Benoit to outlast it at this stage of the match. You brought out the shooting star press! I did not think anybody would use that again. The best part is that he misses, so both guys have missed aerially. When the sharpshooter was applied, the intensity of your writing just picked up! No such thing as a Benoit match without the trifecta of German suplexes. Subsequently comes the executed headbutt, but Lesnar persists! F – 5 to crossface!!!! Wrestlemania XX ending with Lesnar rolling Benoit over, but Benoit holds on tenaciously!!!! BENOIT WINS!!!!!!!!!! BENOIT WINSSSS!!!!!!!!!! Holy arjun14626rko … BENOIT WINSSSS!!!!!! Awesomeness personified!!! With the Wrestlemania XX ending, and it takes twenty years for Benoit to win it!!! Excellent ending with the locker room out there to greet him. I hope he can retain this thing for a long time, but there is a long slew of challengers on Smackdown! Excellent match, but then again, all Benoit matches are. Both men were able to use their technical abilities, aerial abilities, and excitement abilities to produce an unforgettable match. 10/10

Entertainment: Thank you, 6.022×1023/10

Bottomline: Everytime you write a PPV, you elevate your greatness and booking to another whole new level. When you write a masterpiece Wrestlemania like this, you cement yourself as a living legend in booking. This took me about seven hours spread over a few days to review, but it must have taken you fifty hours of pure writing, not to mention thinking and planning to write this. This was the best built PPV also, with Hart and Angle going to Judgment Day, Austin and Christian emanating form Summerslam, as with Rock and HBK. Sure, I was not pleased with one result, but your winners were mostly faces and done in great fashion. There are so many OH MY GOD moments in this whole Wrestlemania, and in each match. I just cannot adulate you enough. Even with all your accolades and unlimited respect and admiration, you just added to all of that with this. This is sure to accrue up every award known. It is unbelievable what one person can do. You were able to enhance my vocabulary by readings this as I learned some new words, and most of all, I can ameliorate my wrestling writing style. Take a break, recharge the batteries, appreciate this review, and come back strong after this.

So, WrestleMania is done and dusted. And it's onto the future. Currently I've returned 0 reviews for WrestleMania, but I'm gonna be working on it over the coming weeks. For some, I may not get a review until your next PPV, but if you didnt notice from one of the last posts I made in the thread, I'll no longer be doing full PPV events for Raw, but only my portion of joint ventures, so it'll be a while before I post a PPV anyway.

I'll also take this opportunity to officially welcome the Smackdown writer to the thread - Snap. I'm extremely confident he'll hold up his end of the bargain, after seeing a sneak preview of his first SD.

Expect more updates in the coming weeks, but right now I'm setting an official return date for the thread - January 29th.

So, Being the Booker is back in 18 days time with the Raw fall out from Wrestle Mania. For now, I'll post the PPV schedule (dates are subject to change)

Blue = Smackdown Event
Black = Joint Event

WWE Backlash - April 30th - Seattle, Washington

WWE Judgement Day - May 14th - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

WWE Unforgiven - June 25th - Denver, Colorado

Shame that the RAW pay per views won't be written out but I'm glad this thread is coming back. Looking forward to Snap's debut in this thread as well. If he has your stamp of approval, he's got mine. :D

Right, just so everyone knows where I stand on reviews - I've still yet to complete one in return for WM. And, with my next full, proper PPV a long way off, I'll be using spare time in the coming months to catch up with PPV events that I owe reviews too. I've just been far too slack with getting going again with reviews, that it's the only logical thing for me to do. If you've recently posted one of the big events (you should know the ones I mean), I'll review them obviously. If you havent, I'll most likely return your review at a later date when you post a future PPV.

Hopefully, when I get going again, I'll be able to return all the reviews I get for weekly shows.

For anyone that missed it (or forgot the results)

WrestleMania XXII:

Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin defeated Americas Most Wanted @ 11:11
In a highly athletic opener, between two teams at the top of their game, the Raw Tag Team Champions overcame the threat of the Smackdown Tag Team Champions, to record their second win at back to back WrestleManias against AMW.

Trish Stratus defeated Shaniqua @ 07:27 to retain the Womens Championship
Despite the odds against the Toronto Native, Trish Stratus overcame the dominant Amazon to score a stunning upset, retaining the title, showing why she is considered the greatest womens athlete in the sports history.

Matt Hardy defeated JBL to become the NEW United States Champion @ 10:07
With JBL guaranteeing that he would leave Vegas with the title still in tact, many believed he would find some way to defeat the resurgent Hardy. However, after ten months of being almost superhuman with luck, everything fell apart for the self proclaimed 'Wrestling God'. Layfield tried to take the easy way out twice, getting counted out, and disqualified, and not even his Cabinet could help JBL hold onto the title, as Matt Hardy ended a mammoth run of Layfield as Champion.

In a No Disqualification Match, Triple H defeated Shane McMahon @ 18:53
The Lionhearted Shane McMahon proved the critics wrong with an amazing display of grit and determination to stand toe to toe with The Game, and nearly pulled off an almightly upset, putting his body on the line in the process. However, in the end, The Cerebral Assassin proved too much for McMahon, with Triple H knocking Shane off the huge titan tron, and continuing on despite the fact. Triple H won the match, but Shanes condition would be the major talking point.

The Undertaker defeated Chris Jericho @ 17:09
In the weeks leading up to the match, Chris Jerichos confidence continued to grow, as he seemed assured he would end The Deadmans unbreakable WrestleMania winning streak. And, on the night, Y2J proved to be as close as anyone will ever come to breaking the winning streak. He took every short cut imaginable, trying to win the match in any order, including by count out. However, Taker rose above Jerichos game plan, and managed to go an amazing 14-0 at the event.

Mick Foley, Hulk Hogan and Rhyno defeated Ric Flair, Nick Dinsmore & Batista @ 16:01
With so many issues inter-twined between six men, the tension was literally off the charts. Hogan and Flair gave the fans plenty of nostalgia to witness, Foley gave glimpses of Mankind, Dude Love and Cactus Jack to the delight of the MGM, whilst Dinsmore treated the fans to an effortless wrestling display, leaving Batista and Rhyno to dish out the major punishment on each side. By the end of the match though, it would be Hogan, Foley and Rhyno with hands raised, much to the delight of the fans.

In the first ever Roll of the Dice Match, Carlito retained the Intercontinental Title in a Quintet Sudden Death Match, overcoming Rey Mysterio, Ken Kennedy, Rob Van Dam & Edge @ 10:37
Carlito managed to defeat the odds stacked against him retaining the title against four men, as he snuck in to take Rey Mysterio by surprise, and score victory, keeping his title, and giving him momentum for the second fall...

Rey Mysterio defeated Carlito, Ken Kennedy, Edge and Rob Van Dam @ 12:48 to claim the first ever Money in the Bank Contract, in the second fall of the Roll of the Dice Match, with this being contested as a ladder match.
Despite losing the first fall, Mysterio came back from that to claim arguably a bigger prize - one guaranteed title shot whenever he chooses in the next twelve months. The win came through controversy though, as at first, it appeared RVD would be victorious, until an unlikely appearance from former ECW alumni, Sabu, accompanied by Van Dams recently released manager, Bill Alfonso cost Van Dam the prize. Mysterio then made the most of a Spear from Edge to Carlito to climb the ladder and take the briefcase.

Christian defeated Steve Austin @ 14:21
From this point, the big five talking point matches all followed. After over six months of back and forth verbal sparring, these two men finally got it on in the ring. Austin put up a brave fight, taking on outside interference in the form of Tyson Tomko, as well as Captain Charisma, bled after Christian broke a glass jar over his head, and kicked out of almost everything Christian could deliver, before finally succumbing to the dreaded Unprettier. It was an emphatic victory for Christian, and one that may leave Austin pondering any future in the business.

Bret Hart defeated Kurt Angle @ 21:02
The most anticpated match up by far finally came to a head in Vegas. After months, and month of build up, the conclusion was typically an epic storybook style finish that would make even fairytale writers proud. Bret Hart, out of retirement for one night only, overcame all personal injury problems to put on an unbelievable display to provide one final classic match, defeating Kurt Angle, against all odds, writing one final chapter into his astonishing career. How will Angle ever recover from such an embarrassing defeat??

John Cena defeated Randy Orton @ 15:14 to retain the World Heavyweight Championship
Many expected Randy Orton to recover from his loss last year to Cena, and bounce back with a victory on March 26th, but John Cena held back the challenge of the legend killer to inflict another WrestleMania loss on Orton, leaving The legend killer on the verge of a break down.

The Rock defeated Shawn Michaels @ 21:06
The epic build up crossed over into an epic encounter as two Icons of the WWE tore down the MGM Grand delivering a match worthy of stealing any show. With the crowd reactions split 50/50, or possibly 60/40 in favour of the Showstopper, it was still The Rock who kept his composure to see off the challenge of an inspired HBK, ending the extraordinary match with an extraordinary Rock Bottom - from the top rope. Afterwards, the two foes shook hands, much to the delight of the onlooking fans.

In the main event, Chris Benoit defeated Brock Lesnar via submission @ 27:28 to become the NEW WWE Champion.
The stage was set, and both men delivered one of the finest main events in WrestleMania history. Both men rolled into the event on the biggest high of momentum they had ever been on, and continued riding on their momentum to provide a classic back and forth contest, that will live on in the memory for years to come. Both men put it all on the line, with Lesnar even attempting the ill fated Shooting Star Press, which eventually led to his downfall, as Benoit forced the self proclaimed 'Iron Man' to tap out to the Crippler Crossface, to become WWE Champion for the first time.
The celebrations with Bret Hart, Rey Mysterio, Chavo and Vickie Guerrero ended the incredible show, much to the delight of the WWE fans across the world.

Post - WrestleMania News and Notes:

The general feeling coming from the WWE following WrestleMania was that the show was as expected, a big success, but many will make judgements on how good it compares to the other great Manias in the past later down the line.

There was many raised eyebrows at Bret Harts performance, putting on an excellent showing against Kurt Angle, which most didnt expect. It is conformed though that Bret Hart will not return to his role as General Manager of Smackdown, with The Hitman content with what he has given these last two years. It's expected that Hart will be inducted into next years Hall of Fame though.

With both Raw and Smackdown now without a General Manager (Flair and Hogan had both been 'relieved' of their duties two weeks ago, and Ricky Steamboat was only used as an interim figure), the general feeling is that Eric Bischoff will be brought back to television to take over on Raw once again, but many names have been thrown about as to whom will take duties on Smackdown. Shane McMahon was an early candidate, but he is now expected to take at least four months off from television to sell his injuries from WrestleMania.

USA Network has confirmed that the April 3rd edition of Raw, coming from London, England will now be a three hour special. The network has been happy with ratings for the show since the return last October, and have shown faith in the WWE to commission another three hour show.
The April 3rd show is expected to feature the now annual Draft Lottery, so there could be many of the big names on show from both Raw and Smackdown in London a week from tomorrow.

Many debuts are expected in the coming weeks and months on both Raw and Smackdown, with many call ups being expected from OVW, along with an impending in ring return of veteran, Dave Finlay. Jamal, formerly of 3 Minute Warning is also expected to be repackaged, and debuted soon. With many debuts expected, it is also likely that we will see many releases too in the next few months.

Both Mick Foley and Hulk Hogan are expected to step away from TV for the time being, with Hogans absence being expected to be a long term period, with Hogan unhappy with how he has been treated in the last month. Foley though, is expected to re-appear in the summer.

Well, I never have read this actively beforehand, but I have been looking for the chance to start reading this BTB, as well, it's the cream of the crop in terms of its prestige. I'm looking forward to reading Wrestlemania in my spare time, before you return to writing, and can't wait to see what you, and Snap, can produce.

Best of luck, and I look forward to starting to read your material. :)

Nice news and notes, you've seem to start taking a mark for Umaga lately Wolf hence why he'll be debuting soon, which should be good as long as the main straps never touch his waists. Finlay is another you seem to like and he'll no doubt be used well in the US or IC division, I can also see you calling MVP into things too.

Foley sticking around partially is cool, while Hogan probably won't be back till next WM.

I hope you keep Austin around after the comment in the match result with Christian :(

I know you are a fan of Finley and Umaga, so it will be good to see them debut, and how they do end up being used, but I'm sure it will be well

New GM's and a draft will be good to shake things up as well, and at the moment, I wouldn't be sure about who goes where, but either Jericho or Taker, and HHH are my tips to change

Looking forward to the comeback
