I've had a chance to calm down after getting frustrated while reading the Jack Reacher novel Persuader. I think that in time I will pick the series back up and continue with it. Did you have any trouble reconciling the story told in the book, or do you think I was just being too hard on it? It seemed to me that an untouchable, intelligent druglord wouldn't fall for a ruse like the one that Reacher used to infiltrate his organization.
You have read a lot more books in the series, and have a more developed perspective on the stories told. I liked where they were going for the most part, but I got concerned that as it continues I may have to suspend my disbelief farther and farther. Can you tell me if the book deserves a second chance? And what do you think I should focus on and look for when I continue the series?
I confess that perhaps McQueen (who recommended the series to me) may have set me up to prejudge some of them by telling me that he loved most of the books, but hated some of them. That left me with kind of mixed anticipation.
