Re: JLA Puroresu
With the BTB tournament I’ve not been able the write as much of the G1 as I would have liked. But it’s going along nicely so here is the usual preview. JLA
Jack Evans (ROH) vs. Taka Michinoku (JLA)
The ROH invasion has begun with Jack Evan making his first JLA appearance. Taka Michinoku has made it blatantly clear that he is not going into this match for JLA…… But for himself! Both of these men know how to fly especially Jack Evans who is known for his suicidal behaviour in the ring. Also the Ring Of Honour starlet is knows for his Evans Driver, the same move that Taka invented and popularised…. The Michinoku Driver! Taka will hope that the pressure of being on strange turf will take the better of Evans as they go one on one at the G1!
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Dragon Kid – U 30 Title Match
The first JLA Champion will be crowned as these two young athletes compete for the biggest rookie prize. Dragon Kid the protégé of Ultimo Dragon will be looking to start his JLA career with a bang! Hiroshi Tanahashi is one of the biggest prospects in JLA; he is favourite to win this bout. Dragon Kid has his famous Dragonrana in which he learned from Ultimo to finish his opponent off with Hiroshi having the Dragon Sleeper and the Dragon Suplex in his arsenal. The speed of Dragon Kid will be a problem for Tanahashi who likes to work at a much slower pace when the strength of Hiroshi will give him the advantage.
Scott Steiner vs. Lance Storm vs. Chris Jericho vs. Low Ki – United States Title Match
The first United States Champion will be crowned at the G1 Climax in this fatal four way match. Steiner will be a big presence in this match as his size is mammoth compared to such as Low Ki. Jericho has had many battles with fellow opponent Lance Storm. With Jericho using the Wall Of Jericho and Lance using the Canadian Maple Leaf a submission finish looks likely. Of course Low Ki uses the Dragon Clutch and Steiner with the Camel Clutch this outcome looks more likely. However with Steiner making his debut some may see the presenting of the Steiner Driver if he gets the chance. Whatever the finish this match should be one for the history books as the first US champion will begin his reign in JLA!
Jushin Liger vs. KENTA – Jr Heavyweight Title Match
Both these men did well to win there respected Battle Royals to reach this match. Jushin Liger’s CTU faction has been banned from ring side giving KENTA an equal advantage. Liger has the experience over his opponent nearly 10 years to be precise but the speed and will of KENTA may be too much for the masked heel. Either way this will be a fast pace explosive match where the winner will begin a grand tradition in Jr Heavyweight wrestling.
G1 Climax Tournament-
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Chris Benoit
The first round shows the talent that JLA has to offer as both these men could easily win this tournament. Another submission finish looks likely as Benoit and Nakamura both have submission finishes. Shinsuke with his Shining Triangle and Benoit with his Crippler Crossface this will be a test of strength and stamina.
Masahiro Chono vs. Sting
A match with two very different styles! The contest with one of the major faces in American wrestling along with the greatest heel in Japan! Both men have won major titles but with the pressure of the first round being so great who knows how long they can last.
Yuji Nagata vs. Satoshi Kojima
Nagata is the slight favourite for this one with his famous Nagata Lock. You can’t count out Kojima however with his stiff style and deadly lariat. Either way this match will be stiff and brutal as the prize of the JLA Title can push any man to great lengths.
Jun Akiyama vs. Kenta Kobashi
Both these men have met recently on the last episode of JLA LiveWire! Kenta Kobashi came out on top after Kensuke Sasaki’s music caused the interference. Either way Sasaki has been warned not to interfere in this match by Kobashi. The experience of Kobashi will be a fact along with the energy of Akiyama. Some say the age of Kobashi is a disadvantage but he has proven the critics wrong in the past.
