Re: The NXT Generation
Thank you very much for your interest in my thread. The 6 won't be revealed just yet. I'm saving that for later. But without further ado, here's the next installment. The talks between Devon Cross and WWE had been going well for the most part. One of the things that had been decided was that NXT would be extended to an hour and a half. They had one final meeting by teleconference because Cross had to go to Japan on business. Triple H, Stephanie, Vince, and John were all sitting around the conference table about to call Cross.
Vince: So this will be the last meeting we have. If Crossís final proposal is acceptable, weíll give him the green light now and heíll have control of NXT in a few weeks.
Stephanie makes the call. The speakerphone rings for a while before Cross picks up.
Devon: Sorry for the delay. I was speaking with a member of my potential roster.
John: Wait a minute. You went to Japan to recruit?! We havenít even approved your final roster yet!
Devon: I was simply negotiating a potential deal thatís all. I like to give anyone Iím approaching the courtesy of speaking with them face to face. Besides, a portion of my prospective roster is here, so I could meet with most of them at once instead of calling them all one by one. Speaking of which, Iíd like to email you my final roster for approval if youíre ready to receive it.
Vince: Go ahead.
Devon sent the email and it came up on the screen. As they all read the roster, they saw that it had drastically changed since the one he handed them weeks ago. And they also noticed something else.
John: What the hell is this?! This isnít anywhere close to what we agreed on!
Triple H: Where are the 6 you promised us?! Theyíre nowhere on this list! Were you screwing with us or something?!
Devon: Everyone please calm down and Iíll explain. First of all, I did say the roster I handed you were initial changes that I would make, not final changes. Second, the six arenít part of this list because theyíre not going to be on the roster right away.
Vince: Damnit! Do you have a deal with them or not?!
Devon: Yes. My deal with them is in writing and their contracts are drawn up. Theyíve even gone so far as to sign them already. Their contracts are just waiting on your approval Vince. And so is the rest of the roster. I have initial deals set for them in that email I just sent. They should contain the salaries that theyíll consider working for and any other terms some of them may be requesting.
Stephanie: Terms? What terms?
Devon: Nothing major. Like some people just wants their initial flight to the states paid for by the WWE. But I took care of their terms already.
John: We didnít give you any money toÖ
Devon: Itís not coming out of the WWEís pocket. Itís at my own expense. Iím just going to fly them back with me in my jet. Donít worry about it. Everythingís pretty much taken care of. If we still have a deal, I just need their contracts written up, reviewed, and ready to be signed by next week.
John: Next week? Why next week?
Devon: Because thatís when Iíll be flying back. A couple of people need to cut ties with their current promotion, get ready to head out, etc. Iíll need all their contracts by next week, but Iíll need at least a verbal agreement today and a written one tomorrow.
Stephanie: Hold on for a minute.
Stephanie puts him on hold and looks up at the others.
Stephanie: So what does everyone think? Is it a yes or a no?
Vince: *mumbling something under his breath* Iím not sure anymore. Before, it was a minor change and 6 big additions. Now, itís a massive change and Iím unsure that he even has them signed on at all.
Triple H: Iím just not sure about the roster change. Itís a much heavier impact to what weíve spent time building than weíd originally anticipated.
John: Iím more concerned about the impact to the talent. To be let go like that due to new management is pretty devastating. Besides that, what do we tell them? Sorry but you canít work here because you didnít make the cut?
Stephanie: Well I still think itís a good idea.
All 3 men glared at her with disbelief as she put up her hand to explain.
Stephanie: Granted itís a major change, but itís not like we havenít done it before. And if this guyís promising newer talent that we can develop into superstars, why not? And if weíre still concerned about the 6 people, then weíll just ask for the contracts upon approval. Okay?
They all looked at each other for approval. Triple H was the first to nod, then John, then Vince. Vince rocked back in his chair.
Vince: Then itís settled. Weíll go with his proposal. And if things donít turn out the way he guarantees they will, weíll send him packing just as fast as we approved it.
Stephanie took the call off of hold.
Vince: Mr. Cross, we have a deal. Weíll need those contracts that are already signed sent to us as soon as possible.
Devon: Thank you very much. Believe me, you will not regret this decision. Everything will be delivered to you tomorrow. Once again, thank you.
Vince: No problem.
Both parties hung up and Devon immediately began dialing another number. He chased down a couple of people and told them to pack their bags and covered his other ear to drown out the screams of excitement.
Devon: *on the phone* Yeah itís me. Itís set. Yeah they agreed to everything. I donít think they suspect a thing. Itís time to break the castle down from the inside.
