Believe I am not too far away from breaking the match engine with Werder Bremen. Shouldn't ideally explain it, but its only a wrestling forum and not SI.

Flat 4-5-1.
Regular defence, limited defender centre back pairing, supporting fullbacks. The fullbacks are set to man marking tightly. They run with the ball 'rarely'. Nothing special with the centre backs.
Midfield. Two attacking wingers, set with man marking tightly. A box to box midfielder, zonal marking tightly. Two supporting ball winners, set to man marking tightly. Best results would be to have the two wingers play onto their inside foot.
Attack. Nothing special. I just use a big man to collect the balls and hold up play. Even went out of my way to get a ridiculously tall one. Hes an advanced forward.

How it plays, 9 men behind the ball, and with supporting ball winners and one fullback joining the attack, pressing forward with 6-8 players. It doesn't give the opposition space to score during play. They will only score on set pieces and counter attacks. And the guarantee is you will score if its set up properly.

Surprisingly it didn't take long to find ways to do this after I decided to use a flat 4-5-1. Grew discontent with having to use the more 4-3-3ish approach. Wanted my DM to attack, wanted my wingers to defend.
