Re: Rock convinces me that Austin should Never..Ever.wrestle again.....
The hard time The Rock is getting for this match is BAFFLING to me. I thought the match was entertaining. Sure The Rock isn't delivering in the ring like he was in the year 2000... in the year 2000 he was a fulltime bonafide professional wrestler... 28 years old and in the prime of his life.
Earth to OP. It's 2013. Rock is 40 and he's had 3 matches since his retirement in 2004.
Now The Rock is still in great shape physically but neither me nor you can ever truly understand how little that matters without ring time. No one wrestles an hour without a problem after barely wrestling in 8-9 years. You need to be wrestling 4-5 times a week solid as well as working out to get to that level of fitness.
You put the Rock out there for a year on the fulltime circuit and I bet he could have a 4 star plus classic again with the right worker in the right match. But the man's 40 years old and with all that muscle mass he's carrying now he'd be a sure candidate for injury before that year would be up.
As it goes, he done a great job for his circumstances in the match and considering the entertainment he brings outside of the actual matches I'm more than happy with him being around.
As for Austin, I'd love to see him have one more match - even if it's not on par with his match with Bret at WM 13 or his match with HHH at NWO 01 or with Rock at WMX7 or his match with Kurt at Summerslam 01. Even if it's not the classic match ups all those were, I'd still happily watch him in a feud and going at it one more time.
And for the record, Rock is obviously in better shape physically, but I bet Austin would turn up and do a better job in the ring than Rock has.
