Funny Games has always been a mixed bag for me. I was never a fan of the "breaking the fourth wall" element, but both movies had capable actor and there was an undeniable unerving tension throughout as the movie built towards it's climax. I thought that the little boy they cast in the U.S remake was absolutely BRILLIANT. Go back to the scene where he escapes, enters a house and gets caught by Michael Pitt's character. His reaction and facial expression is one of the greatest performances i've ever seen coming from a kid that age.
Yeah good call about the boy, I went back and watched that scene again and that truly is superb.
Just looked him up, his name's Devon Gearhart. Not really been in anything else, but he was in Changeling which I thought was a great film. (The 2008 one with Angelina Jolie, not the 1980 horror film. Although that is good as well).
