Been playing this one a lot lately. I know it came out past Keith's "prime", but he can make slow jams like this forever.....the music world just stops treating cats like Keith as "relevant artists" once they hit a certain age even if their music is still 100 times better than these new cats.
But anyway, this song is so smooth.
So true. I've seen R&B artists who've been in the game 20 plus years release albums with hardly no hype/marketing behind it because of what you just said.
I agree with this statement. Many of these black/R&B artists are "going pop" which today means create dance/techno music because it's what's popular, get's airplay, and makes more money. Smart moves for their careers and pocketbooks as my dad would say but the artistry leaves something to be desired imo. The thing is if artists like Usher, Chris Brown, and Rihanna, and even Beyonce and Justin Timberlake released more R&B centered music I think they could put more eyes on the genre as a whole and sort of breath more life into it because they are so popular.
I like artists who stay true to themselves. That's why I'll always prefer a Maxwell to Usher.
