I thought a thread containing stories and anecdotes (not those myths like Steph getting banged by Macho etc) would be quite interesting, especially in the golden times unlike now.
Here's my first contribution:
an incident involving Eddie and Mark Copani that was never publicized, but contributed to his being dropped when the media heat came in on the Hassan deal.
He was seen as a "legend" among the wrestlers. Mark Copani (Muhammad Hassan) and Guerrero a few months back had a verbal altercation when he came to Smackdown. Copani, simply not knowing any better, told Eddie to stop using his finisher, the camel clutch, When word got out what he had done, Copani was sat down and told, "Eddie Guerrero is a legend in this business. He grew up in the business. You don't ever tell him anything. You listen to him. Do you know who invented that camel clutch you're doing"" Hassan said, "The Sheik." Hassan, who was being groomed as the top heel in the brand before things fell apart there, was told, "No, it was Eddie's father. Don't you ever question him again or you'll never work in this company."
Indeed, when UPN wanted the Hassan character off Smackdown, one of the reasons WWE killed the character completely as opposed to moving him to Raw was because of the sentiment over how Mark Copani handled the situation. When his name comes up and you hear wrestlers make cryptic remarks about the guy playing the role, some of that was because to those who knew, he had committed a major sin in mouthing off to someone as well liked as Guerrero.
