Never have understood the love for Benoit. Not only because he was a murderer but because he had the charisma and personality of a potato
The two obvious ones are Jake and Macho Man. I really believe the reason Jake isn't in is because the WWE don't trust him to turn up to the induction ceremony sober. Maybe DDP could act as a chaperone?
If you are going to use the the murder-suicide as a reason Benoit doesn't deserve to be in the HOF at least apply the same rules to Jake. Whilst he has not murdered anyone, the man has admitted to ruining his own daughters life and childhood as well as hurting many others due to drugs and alcohol.
I understand the view that Benoit shouldn't be in because of what happened though, its a hard argument to oppose.
Raven---I know he's likely not in a good standing with Vince but solely for what he did in ECW, he would be a nice induction and could hopefully transform into him doing some form of writing for WWE. A definite long shot.
Bruno Sammartino---Biggest long shot and not from a fuck up on WWE's part but because he's been so outspoken on the state of the business for decades now. But, I think he'll be in 1 day.
Steiner Brothers---One of the GOAT tag teams but Scott has pretty much made it a lock they won't be inducted, due to his views over the past decade on the future boss.
Lex Luger---Considering some of the talents previously inducted, mind boggling why he hasn't been, until you think about how he left in the first place and the trainwreck his life was after WCW folded, especially the situation with Elizabeth.
Jim Cornette---I hate him personally but the guy was beneficial to the business, especially in the mid 80s with the Midnight Express, who deserve to be inducted as well. Cornette is so anti anything that doesn't involve him, he probably will never be inducted.
Sable---I don't understand why she's not in the HOF. One of their biggest stars during the AE and unless it's her choice, should at least be inducted as a way to bait Brock into resigning.
Don't know if she's been mentioned yet, but I think Chyna is a deserving candidate. She's the only woman to be IC champion, something we may never see again.
She will never make the Hall of Fame. WWE never mentions her. They never even show her when they do flashbacks from past events. Its like she committed a Benoit crime, the way WWE treats her.
And of course, there's the touchy-situation with her being HHH's ex-girlfriend.
The situation with HHH pretty much prevented her from ever being brought back/mentioned to an extent. Yeah, she buried him pretty bad but no different than the Outlaws after they left.
What pretty much guranteed she would NEVER be inducted or even mentioned on TV again was the sex tape with Pac. Surely could have been overlooked but the second she decided to gain fame from it, that was the last straw.
Not to mention the amount of personal problems she has that make Tammy Sytch look like a nun, on top of the fact that her current career is in the porn industry. That alone cemented her never being acknowledged again.
Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior are two of the main guys.
But for Savage it seems too late as he said he didn't want it, and for Warrior he's just a psycho. Really would like to see Savage in there as he was the most unique character in wrestling history IMO. He got bitten by a snake. Jake's snake.
The story is Savage only wanted to be inducted with his father and brother. Not sure how true, since Savage can't confirm but it sounds believable, as he got his brother a WCW contract for nearly 5 years, despite not being used once, IIRC, not even in the angle with Savage, Flair & Angelo Poffo.
I don't know about Warrior. If Vince can somehow bury the hatchet with so many people over the years, I'm sure he can with Warrior, seeing as how Warrior pulled some bullshit TWICE before being brought back again in 1996. And if it's a highly profitable deal, I'm sure Vince would want in. The question is can Warrior put his ego to the side (after the WWE burial with the DVD) to allow himself to be inducted and not hold Vince up for more money the night of the show or flat out no show, which he has a history of in and outside WWE.
Rick Rude & Jake the Snake should both absolutely be in & I think they will be, eventually. I don't think they're long shots. They should have been in a long time ago.
My name, that I doubt anyone else is going to drop, is Adrian Adonis. He's a long shot, for sure but such an underrated worker. Especially before he ballooned up & ultimately died prematurely.
Not that I know of. I know he was tight with Jesse the Body & Pipes. Both of whom had problems with Vince/WWE for awhile but not really on that timeline.
But how many of those guys listed are a long shot?
Freebirds probably have the best chance out of anybody. Same goes for Hansen. Can't see how Sting, Angle, Jericho & Nash are long shots, seeing as how all are or have been active within the past year and don't seem to be hanging it up anytime soon.
I seriously doubt Nikita would want to be inducted, as he's a minister (had a sermon at my local church a few years back, looks totally different now). Owen won't be going in, not due to WWE but due to his wife.
Vader is still active. Rock N Roll Express are highly unlikely, mainly due to Ricky Morton being in so much trouble over the years.
Out of everybody on the list, the only ones I consider long shots are Jake, Machoman, Luger, Steiners, Midnight Express & Cornette. Everybody else either has a decent chance or likely want to part of the business (Koloff).
If Koko B Ware, Johnny Rodz and Baron Sucicna are in....then put Brutus Beefcake in. Memorable gimmick. My guess is he won't go in unless Hogan makes amends and pushes for it.
