Who would win a modern day Brawl For All?

For those who don't know - Brawl For All was a "shoot" knockout-style fighting tournament in the late 90's/run up to the start of the Attitude Era. Essentially, it was mid-card/jobbers who had no spot on the show that all came together and thought up the idea to make a shoot-style real fighting tournament.. the final was Bradshaw (aka JBL) vs. Bart Gunn, in which Bart Gunn won.

But who do you think would be the winner of a modern day Brawl For All? Bearing in mind the fact that the tournament consisted of mid-card talent, lets rule out guys like Cena/Punk/Ryback and focus more on the mid-card and the jobbers in WWE.

So, if you had 1000 dollars to stake on a winner, who would you go with and why?

YES.

I always liked Swagger, but he is a natural babyface, which is why his heel run was so abysmal. But the bits with the American eagle were classic, and child friendly too.

If rumors are true, and he comes back as a face going for Cesaro I expect it will make both men stars.

Big Show seems like he would have the power, but he got taken down it could be all over but who knows. He probably wouldn't be in it though, despite them seeming to have weird direction with him.

Jack Swagger. Serious amateur wrestler, would easily ground anyone - bare knuckle boxing does not incorporate ground and pound, just like regular boxing. Once on the mat, Wade would lose.

I'm guessing you weren't in tune with his UFC run. His boxing was a little to be desired, at least against Carwin and Velasquez.

Barrett has the experience. Something tells me Cesaro could hold his own in a boxing fight. He certainly would have the power to knock a guy out.

Too hard to tell.

They had Dr. Death as a lock to win the original B4A, in fact the entire concept was created as a way launch Death's career as a bad-ass main event heel that Steve Austin could potentially feud with down the road. As it turned out, Bart Gunn came out of nowhere and dropped everyone to win the competition. I don't think that was expected at all, and it just goes to show that you never know who can take it when you have something like that with loose rules.

I'd put my money on Barrett for obviously reasons. Dude has a history of bare knuckle fighting.

Lesnar would never be featured on there because Brawl 4 all is just mid carders, so I take my pick of Lesnar back. Most likely, it'll be some like Barrett knocking the fuck outta everyone, or Swagger taking people down.

Would lean more towards Barrett though.

Funny about about the Brawl for All was that the payoff of it all (aside from injuries, boring the crowd and basically telling the audience that the actual wrestling matches are fake) was Bart Gunn getting knocked out in like 40 seconds by Butterbean at Wrestlemania, lol.

Anyway I'd put my money on Lesnar or Barrett as others have said.

That was without a doubt one of the worse use of talent by WWE in the last 20 years. Bart was still young, and they had a chance to capitalize on his win by showcasing him as a legit bad-ass. Best way to do that? Book him in a fight with the King of the 4 rounders, a guy that (at that point) had a 42-1-1 record and had amazing knockout power.

There was just no way that Bart stood a chance in that fight, it's almost as if WWE booked that on purpose to ruin him. I don't want to start a conspiracy theory, but it's hard to imagine WWE being THAT stupid.

Bryan or swagger. Swagger beat Cain Velasquez in college twice

Swagger would dominate most people with takedown after takedown So I'd go with him to win but Barrett's striking nous would make him a very serious contender. I'd be interested in seeing how Santino and Tatsu would get on as I've heard they may have decent credentials. The scary thing about this is in my head it actually sounds kind of interesting so I can understand why they did it the first time but wow was it shit. Losing to Butterbean buried Bart so badly that he'd have been better off not winning :L

...Y'all know Wade's bare knuckle boxing thing is a character right? I don't know why people think that it's true, considering the only sources about it come from the man himself. On TV, the dude's punching technique is terrible. Granted I know you don't want to really wallop a guy but still.

Anyway, I'd lean toward Swagger or Brock. The point system was pretty in favor of guys who could do decent takedowns, and while it'd be a lot harder with the gloves I think they could overcome it. Just a matter of learning how to adjust and turn that corner in such big gloves.

Not that it would ever happen mind you. Brawl for All was a horrible idea.
