Dubstep always worked better when the Wobble bass was kept to a minimal and proper song structure was emphasized, and the genre really hit a creative peak in the early 00's when the Ninja Tune label was pumping out quality stuff left and right.

Eskmo, Tipper, Two Fingers, Broken Note, Box Cutter, Burial, Emika, Kryptic Minds, King Cannibal and Africa Hitech, all good stuff, and all of these have toyed around with Dubstep and made it something special.
