Re: Favorite Robert De Niro movie that you've seen

The King of comedy is definitely not a comedy. It has some very funny moments but it's more a character study on celebrity obsessed delusion. The laughs are never really forced, it's just very amusing to watch this complete buffoon believe that he's some comic genius. But it's also quite sad too and a poignant commentary on people needing fame to fill the emotional void in their lives.

I don't know if it's been mentioned or not but The Mission is worth a watch. It's filmed beautifully, De Niro and Irons have excellent chemistry and it's probably Morricone's finest hour as a composer which is saying a hell of a lot.
