wwe.com said:This Friday in his home city of Miami, The People’s Champion will step inside a SmackDown ring for the first time in 10 years. For the first time in a decade, The Rock returns to “his” show!
When WWE looked to debut the blue brand back in 1999, they wisely chose to mold their newest incarnation in the image of The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment by naming the show after his explosive catchphrase, “Layeth the SmackDown!”
Now, one week before SmackDown celebrates its 700 episode, The Rock will make a rare appearance. It comes just 16 days before The Brahma Bull will battle WWE Champion CM Punk one-on-one for the WWE Title at Royal Rumble on Jan. 27. Could the dangerous Straight Edge Superstar look to destroy his legendary competition prior to their pay-per-view showdown?
Or might The Shield – who WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon still suspects to be in cohoots with Punk and who proved to be the difference in the champion’s Tables, Ladders and Chairs Title Match against Ryback on Raw – dare to attempt to ambush the seven-time WWE Champion, the way they have done to so many Superstars?
It’s also a distinct possibility that other SmackDown competitors, such as World Heavyweight Champion Big Show, Sheamus or Randy Orton, may have something to say to The Great One.
Find out if The Rock with indeed Layeth the SmackDown, this Friday at 8/7 CT on Syfy!

LMAO at the ratings of smackdown compared to raw that week
I have been waiting for The Rock to return to his show for a very long time. I feel this will be very interesting and it could be a great night for SmackdownThe Rock returns to his show! FINALLY!!!
I'd say when Edge was still with the company. He carried that brand on his back for YEARS. When he retired, I stopped caring for Smackdown on a full time basis and I know a lot of people did the same.Really, Rock on NX....oops, I mean SmackDown. Really? Somehow the concept of this is just BAFFLING to me. The last time SmackDown was a viable brand, Jeff Hardy was still with the company.
Alright, I guess that makes more sense. Still, I can't help but wonder what he thinks when he looks at SmackDown today. It would almost be like seeing one of your children for the first time in years, and when you left he was healthy and full of life, and now he's just absolutely broken and decrepit.Great news if this is true.
EDIT: Seems legit.
Tyrion, its in his hometown, doesn't surprise me when you consider that.
Anyone else think that sounds just a bit silly? That really comes down to only about 9 months and considering that Rock has made 2(?) appearances since WM28...Finally-- THE ROCK returns to South Florida for the first time since WrestleMania 28 !
He isn't as narrow minded as some on here think. He admitted Smackdown and the World Title meant something when Jeff Hardy was around, and he HATES Jeff Hardy.the only time Smackdown or the WHC will mean anything ever again is when Sandow, Barrett or Ambrose win it. Right, Pyro? :troll
:lmao "I think I'm gonna be Dwayne for a day" Punk/Rock is gonna be awesome. If he isn't advertised it's probably because he'll come via satellite and try and take the piss out of The Rock.
