Re: Being The Booker
Monday Night Raw Preview
The O2 in London hosts the fallout to the most talked about Summerslam of all time, and in a late change, Raw this Monday will be on air for THREE hours. Such is the size of this weeks show that Eric Bischoff has decreed his show needs an extra hour to air for one week only - and no wonder;
As in addition to the highly anticipated debut of The Angels of Anarchy, AND the shocking switch of The Master Craftsmen from Smackdown to Raw, rumours have been running rampant ALL DAY LONG that none other than EDGE is expected to be at Raw … to put pen to paper on a deal to switch from Smackdown to Raw too!!! Has Eric Bischoff gone too far in abusing his power as GM of Raw and the interim GM of Smackdown?? If Edge signs with Raw, he will become the SIXTH man to trade shows since Bischoff began his reign as interim GM on Smackdown in place of the suspended Arn Anderson.
While the Raw roster may be coming overcrowded, it would appear Brent Albright and Charlie Haas have made a smart move - they will go straight into the main event this Monday night, taking on the all conquering World Heavyweight Champion Christian, and Rey Mysterio!! Coming off differing results at Summerslam, will Christian and Mysterio both be physically and mentally prepared for such a tough task, less than 24 hours after the happenings at Wembley Stadium?? For Christian it was triumph - doing what many believed was impossible in beating Umaga, but for Mysterio it was despair - his face shown to the world as Kurt Angle ripped off his sacred mask in order to secure victory over the Master of the 619.
Though Christians win over the previously undefeated Umaga will be the enduring memory of Summerslam 2007, for the fans in London the sweetest moment of the night will have been the glory of William Regal capturing the Intercontinental title in his home nation. What kind of celebration will Regal have in store for the fans in the O2, and what kind of reaction can we expect from the beaten champion, Shelton Benjamin?? Benjamin will look to rebound from last nights gutting defeat, taking on Ken Doane - who is beginning to find his feet on Raw, picking up a few wins now over the last few weeks.
Due to injuries suffered in the TLC match last night, the NEW World Tag Team Champions Straight Edge will not be part of Raw, but with MNM now out of the picture - and off Raw altogether, the road to a shot at the tag team titles has opened up. Will MNMs former Entourage be the team to step up?? Or will The Brotherhood now set their sights on the tag titles after the loss of the Intercontinental title?? The British Lions have had their differences in recent weeks, but have vowed to once again regroup and work toward another shot at the gold, whilst the tandem of experience and strength; X-Pac and Tyson Tomko, will surely want to put themselves at the front of the line. Add to the equation the recent acquired team of Deuce and Domino - not to mention the two newest pairings to arrive on Raw; The Angels of Anarchy and The Master Craftsmen - and it’s safe to say that Straight Edge will not be short on challengers.
However, one man with surely no chance of a title shot any time soon is John Cena. Another submission loss at Summerslam to Mister Kennedy ensured that Cenas rotten year continues, and the title rematch he has been desperate for since WrestleMania has arguably never been further away. For Kennedy though, is he now in pole position for another shot at the title he so nearly captured in June?? A submission win - regardless of circumstances - over John Cena must surely propel the 2006 King of the Ring to the top of the line.
And what of Kurt Angle?? After his despicable actions last night, will Kurt Angle finally realise he’s gone too far?? Or … has he lost it altogether - can he perhaps go even further?? Also, what kind of reaction can we expect from Umaga?? After fourteen months of victory after victory, the Samoan Bulldozer was beaten for the first time ever at Summer slam - something he has never has to suffer before. Will Umaga wreak all kinds of carnage in response?? Or will Armando Estrada keep the Bulldozer under control and look to work towards a rematch - having come so close to tasting victory at Summer slam - indeed, only for Christian tumbling out of the ring after the Samoan Spike, Umaga would be World Champion now. But, will Kennedy and Kurt Angle likely waiting in the wings, Eric Bischoff will have a decision to make in terms of the next #1 Contender.
