WF Footballer of the Year
I reckon the nominations thread has run itself dry so thanks to everyone who voted to give us our six man shortlist for this illustrious prize. Here are the nominees for the WF Footballer of the Year 2012.
Accomplishments: Likely to break Muller's epic goalscoring record as well as providing a bucket load of assists for his Barca teammates. Also put on his working boots for Argentina to become the top scorer in the South American qualifying campaign thus far.
Take a bow son Moment: His destruction of Bayer Levekursen.
Accomplishments: Was clinical in every competition and in every big match situation he found himself in.
Take a bow son Moment: His title winning goal and that iconic celebration against Barcelona.
Accomplishments: Won the Euros to add to what was already one of the greatest individual careers ever.
Take a bow son Moment: His all round performance at Euro 2012. To control the ball that well in those type of pressurised matches is just sublime.
Accomplishments: See above.
Take a bow son Moment: His scintillating display in the Euros final.
Accomplishments: Scored an array of incredible goals, top scorer in Serie A, an immediate hit with PSG and just oozed class throughout the year.
Take a bow son Moment: The overhead kick vs England. Unreal.
Accomplishments: Helped to make Juventus and Italy competitive on the European stage again.
Take a bow son Moment: His penalty vs England. Nerves of steel.
If you can imagine Zidane's touch combined with Pirlo's vision and Roy Keane's will to win then you have some idea of the genius of Diego Maradona.
