It was way ahead of its time. It needed to be on HBO.
Aye, I read up on it and the network shot themselves in the foot with the decision to reveal the killer. After that the series just drifted aimlessly.
Also read the actors influenced things negatively as well. One of the main story arcs for season 2 was meant to be the relationship between Cooper and Audrey, but Kyle MacLachlan didn't think his character should be involved with an 18 year old, so they had to do a whole rewrite. A lot of it was changed from the beginning though. The actor who played BOB was a crew member who was accidentally in shot for a take once, and Lynch liked it and so used the guy for more scenes.
The last episode is still absolutely fucking epic though. Still chewing over whether to bother with Fire Walk With Me. I probably will at some point, but I've read nothing but negativity about it.
