You know, I really have to say that issues are political and developmental. With a lot of deaths, and questions being raised about practices it isn't like there weren't pressures to change the very things made the attitude and ruthless aggression era's great. So it isn't like some of the changes happened just because of the WWE, we would have to be blind to say the Benoit incident didn't have impact.
Second, I feel that there was this time of no great development. The B list became the WCW A listers following the buy out, and there was countless reigns of those who have paid there dues. Meanwhile our mid-card became generic as hell. A lot of talent they had also sort of up and left! That never helps! This all was combined with the attempt to develop a new company face - John Cena - who got trapped in the era where PG-13 seemed viable.
Politics + Development have left them weak.
