It just isn't the storytelling, but knowing what the audience really wants. Right now, the WWE either relies on flashy moments to grab attention with no substance to bolster numbers or they appeal to the casual mindset with infantile/third rate soap opera storylines.
People keep bashing the wrestling fan, but it's starting to show that if your wrestling product isn't geared towards them, you will struggle. The hardcore fans are leaving, the causuals are never around for more than a couple of years, and on top of that... we are getting non wrestling based entertainment in a wrestling company... we can get that elsewhere. But no one in the WWE seems to notice or they just don't care...
Wrestling fan first... company fan last. Nothing worst than the fan that is loyal to the brand first and the wrestling second.
