What did your Grandfather do for a living?
Remember this thread on another forum years ago, turned into an interesting view into lives of yesteryear and lost professions/trades, as well as some badass shit older generations lived through.
My Dads dad was a renowned glass blower and chandelier designer, he emigrated from Poland to Ireland in the early 30s, not a very common move in those days but one he no doubt was thankful for a few years later when the nazis invaded (he had some gypsy blood which wouldnt have made him too popular), died a few weeks after I was born so never really knew him sadly.
My mothers dad was a barber all his life, the old-school type with a red and white pole out front, also a staunch IRA man and chronic alcoholic, was somewhat notorious for once drunkenly beating the shit out of a priest outside church for some imagined insult, never lived it down.
anyone got some interesting ones?
