I wouldnt call him a Santino. The man is still regarded despite his appeal in comedy as a fighter. It wouldnt be too hard to turn him serious
If anything Id say hes closest to Eddie G in the 2002 to 2003 period.

Yeah, well I'm above brainless comedy that involves a man resembling a troll chanting something as mind numbing as YES and NO, and then arguing with a man a foot taller than him over which single person holds a championship designed to be shared. Its not funny, it never was. Every time he does it, all of the Bryan dick suckers clap their hands like some retarded seal and chant "BRYAN DID IT, HE FUNNY, GREATEST OF ALL TIME!" I, on the other hand, think its incredibly stupid, irritating, makes me want Bryan off my screen and last but not least, its a shocking misuse of talent. I seriously cannot fathom why anyone else would think Bryan is entertaining right now. So I couldn't give two shits who disagrees with me and thinks he's the best part of the show, I, KO Bossy, do not enjoy him, so I speak from what I want to see.
Also, I think it would be hard to turn him serious. This YES and NO crap is gonna follow this guy for the rest of his career. He'll be trying to cut a serious, scathing promo and he'll get drowned out with losers at ring side shouting YES at him, same way they interrupted Taker with the WHAT? chants in the RTWM. Santino and Eddie do/did not have a catchphrase that basically defined them as a comedy act. Bryan does. No matter what they repackage him as, the fans will still try to argue with him when he comes down the ramp and shout all of his lame, asinine, meaningless catchphrases, or they'll chant for a big hug in the middle of the ring. They won't be able to shake their image of him as this comedy act, so either he'll change characters and no one will take him seriously, or they'll keep him the way he is now for the rest of his career.
Lose-lose.
