what do you think. Will Punks reign end this sunday and so ending his run being the longest reigning champion in the last 25 years or will Punk walk out again as the champion and so surpassing Cena's 380 days title reign?
IMO Cena shouldn't win on Sunday for a few reasons: it will better story-line wise for him to finally win the big one again at Wrestlemania against The Rock and have a nice little run, a 1 month reign only to lose it back (Punk is 99 % walking out of TLC as champ) is pointless, and he is involved (even more so than the title picture) in an 'affair' scandal with AJ Lee along with feuding with Dolph Ziggler.
If Rock wasn't in line for a title bout at Royal Rumble. I would give it to Ryback and he would have a nice run, but since not than its not wise to give Ryback a worthless month reign and they could have gave it to him at HIAC. Reason they didn't because of The Great One. Everyone don't want Ryback vs Rock this early and even Vince knows that.
So I see Punk winning by default, unfortunately. Unless Vince is really an idiot and gives Cena/Ryback a pointless and meaningless 1 month reign.
Cena-Rock II is inevitable so if it were me I'd just have Cena win at SS, hold it until the Rumble and then obviously he has to go over to get his win back
That match is gonna happen so I'd rather they just did it at the Rumble and then everyone can move on to better things for Mania
Punk is the best guy to hold it because WWE has no other top heel. Show is the closest but he's been "the monster that gets overcome" for so long, plus that he's already the WHC, so there's just no one to really challenge a face champion if someone just comes and has Punk's number.
It's better that the faces actually get to chase the belt and if anything Punk should be made to come out on top more often so he doesn't look like the face that's overcoming the odds. They need Punk to be the big heel, and they need time to build up new heels so the faces can thrive through actually being challenged.
Cena also doesn't need the title. I'd even say that he's helped by not being the champion because it lowers the heat he gets for always being the top guy (which he still is). Ryback, with the way he's booked, would make for the most shallow writing in a long time if he became the champ so he definitely needs to have some struggles before being the champ. And I'm trying to disregard my dislike for him as a performer when I say that.
the only reason i want to see punk vs rock is because i want to see how rock will react to punk's shoots.i know for a fact that punk's promo's will be filled with 99% shoot.it'll be like 2000 wcw nitro.or maybe i'm wrong, who knows.
If Punk loses it on sunday the WWE has lost the plot. If they want Punk to drop the belt it should have been at HIAC when they could have cemented Ryback as the new megastar.
The fact that the original planned for Punk to not even defend the belt at SS makes me think he's walking out with the belt. They only changed it because of how unattractive the card looked.
Might as well, it's not like getting the longest reign will allow Punk to overtake Cena's 12 (?) World titles and general dominance of the WWE for coming up on a decade.
I hope this happens. Unlikely, though. Punk got owned in the last 2 weeks and usually when that happens, the person who got the upper-hand is jobbing at the PPV.
Another dirty win for Punk and the reign continues. I wonder when are we gonna see the best in the world dominate a match or at least win one in a clean fashion. Jesus WWE Christ..
After getting this far with the reign it would be stupid to end it now after it being so close to beating Cenas record, plus i really want him to go on to face and feud with The Rock.
I think Cm punk will lose, one way or another as to not discredit his long reign, but I'm pretty sure WWE won't allow punk to surpass their poster boy god/vince mcmahon boy toy reign
As of this week, I'm predicting a Punk retain. Ryback beat him clean 2 weeks ago, Cena beat him clean this week, and then in the post match, Ryback and Cena were playing tug of war with the championship while Punk looks on devestated, as if he's not even a factor in the decision and it's a foregone conclusion he's going to lose. They're hinting an awful lot at Punk retaining the title to people who've watched WWE for ages and understand the logic of wrestling, IE, when somebody gets the last laugh on the go home Raw, they lose at the PPV.
That said, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm still dreading that the WWE is going to troll the IWC by not giving CM Punk a year long title reign and cutting it off at 364 days, which would be DISASTEROUS, not to mention, costing them numerous buys for the CM Punk vs The Rock match at the Royal Rumble. People want to see The Rock end THIS reign, not the quick, meaningless reign that would take place if he lost here and won the belt back at TLC. Hopefully they have the good sense to realize that.
i think this are the thoughts, that most of us have. thats why it is so hard to predict the outcome.
i would love to have cm punk retain the title.
especially because that would mean so much more if Rock wins it than from punk.
if anyone takes the title away from punk just for some weeks and than punks wins it again and than the rock wins it from punk it would mean so much less than it would mean having punk holding it for so long till... till the rock kicks his ass.
Think Punk will hold out to the rumble and continue to build on the rocks comeback, love to see him beat cenas streak as well
